Finally, after about 8 tries, I finally won!
It is not very clear how movement works at start, but eventually I got it. It took a while to get used to the strength of the jump, but after a bit of practice, I was able to control my jumps quite well.
The fact that when dragging a card, it snapped with top left corner was a bit annoying and unnatural.
I didn't really like that the coins are randomly spawned. I had runs where, although I played optimally, lost just because I didn't get enough coins on the cards. ("what a lucky day" on victory screen was quite fitting  )
Also, I don't think buying a card and ending up with 0 money should be a losing condition. I had plan of collecting bunch of coins after placing the card I bought with exact coins, but lost because I "ran out of coins". That felt wrong.
Love the theme interpretation.
The visuals and audio are really nice!
Also, there is a bug with jump refresh. You are able to double jump if you hit a platform from a side.
Thank you for the detailed feedback @boltkey ! I know the jumping is not the best, coins are too random and not smooth. But I like what we end up with and will develop this game further! Also thanks for the tip with the cards, will work on that!

Wow i can't say more than this review haha nice game loved it :D
Really really love your art style!!
@bitten-toast-games Thanks! Your game looks great too, just downloading it! I had a lot of fun with the art! Need to polish the mechanics a lot...

This game is great! Really nice graphics and audio, and I'm a sucker for anything that has to do with cards.
A minor point, but it took me a while to figure out that you're supposed to click on your frog to jump. If you just added in your description how to jump, I think it'd go a long way.
Also I found it took me some time to get used to the jump mechanic. I think it would have been easier if there was an arrow or something drawn that indicated your jump direction and strength.
Anyway those are nitpick stuff. Overall a fantastic game! Great job guys!
I really liked the graphics, the gameplay idea and if was really fun.
--- Some criticism ---
Jump controls felt a bit off for me. Mainly due to the too tall collision box of the character and there being no clear indicators showing the predicted jump direction.
Also I noticed that the randomness of the game will generate cases where even if you manage to pick up all the coins the game does not generate enough to finish the game.
The music was pretty good but the soundfx were too metalic for my taste making it hard to listen for a long period of play.
--- End of criticsm ---
It was an overall fun game to play. Thank you for making it!
@Potondo thank you! I know jumping will be the first to work on when I rested after this weekend game dev marathon :)
@mrerdalural Thanks for the feedback! I have to do more testing and regulate the randomness of the cards and coin appearance. Eg. minimum platforms, minimum coins to have etc. @david-klemencz worked a lot on the sound and music, this is great feedback for him too!
@pestodesign How to run and jump here? I am pressing WASD, arrows and everything but it doesn't seem to work?
@pestodesign Okay, I realised it :D I think it should written somewhere that you have to click on frog. And maybe there should be some arrows? It would be more convenient then. But that's all of minuses. Everything is awesome! :D Art is incredible. Music fits perfectly and make good mood here. Just - WOW!
Have you played my game already? If you are design teacher it will be pleasure for me, when you leave your opinion about my one! :D https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/remember-or-die Here it is!
@GameDevMumin Thanks! :) I will write it somewhere! Also just working on adding a targeting arrow :) Will check out your game too!
@pestodesign Oh, and maybe some bar that shows how strong jump will be? It will let us know when we should release mouse button :D
I am on it @GameDevMumin :)
Good fun, lovely visuals and audio. It would be cool to see some cards which help traverse you around some more. If you get chance give our game a go too :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/mechasnek
Wow @Lagman9000 , your game looks great, trying it now!
@GameDevMumin your game is crazy :D rated!

Gorgeous game! Took me a minute to figure out how to control the jumps, but after that it was pretty fun.
This is a really great interpretation of the theme! However, the controls were very frustrating for me. I think the game would have been more enjoyable with standard keyboard platforming controls, or alternatively with some indicator for where the frog will land after jumping.
Thank you! @trivial171 I know controls are rubbish... I am working on to put on some indicators right now. I wanted to ditch the WASD movement or virtual joystick, my aim was to use only the mouse. This way if we finish the game it can go straight to mobile :)
This is a pretty neat idea, incorporating the actual cards as platforms that you can jump onto and collect coins in the process. I love the art style, and the various environments on the differing cards. The music was also good - I like the Celtic feeling. I will admit it might not be the most fitting for the type of game, however. The fast paced, triple beat subdivision feels a lot like "frog on an adventure" rather than "frog jumping around in the same space on screen". But hey, maybe there *could* be some aspect of adventure with this concept. After all, you did have different aesthetic themes on some of the cards.
The movement of the frog was way too finicky. He controls like a slingshot, only instead, you pull towards where you want to "sling" the frog towards rather than away. Also the movement felt super elastic; sometimes small motions will cause the frog to jump leaps and bounds while other times, the frog is able to jump just a little amount at a time. It was easily this part of the game that detracted from it being "fun". Despite this, I do like the idea of using a slingshot sort of control - it does add some challenge in what is basically just a "get coins" type of platformer. If you plan on adding more elements besides coins (it would be interesting if each environment card had its own unique quirk), then it may need to have more precise controls than just the "slingshot". Perhaps you could even show the line of trajectory to give the player an idea of where they're aiming.
But overall, it's a nice blend of two game types that don't normally go together, and they're both incorporated well here. :frog:
@Random-storykeeper thank you for the detailed feedback! One of my plan is to give the player bonuses if two or three cards of the same color gets next to each other, and I plan to add special cards too. Now the card system is pretty random, I will have to balance that too. And I don't even start on the jumping - I know that is the weakest part, that will e the first to fix.
Cool idea and lovely graphics and sound, but the jumping it's a bit infuriating >_< I'd love to play this again if you keep developing the idea, I think it would fit really well on a touchscreen device.

What a lovely idea! I like the attention to detail, the art style is cool and the audio feedback was spot on. Nice mix of genres!
It took me a few attempts to get used to the jump mechanic but I really enjoyed it afterwards.
Nailed it!

Really interesting mechanics. I think mixing platformer and card game is a huge challenge, so congratulations for this. The art is also really amazing and super coherent. The music is also really well polished
@Fran Segura I will update it :) You are right, my main target was touchscreen devices, hence the weird one button jumping. @swav_gav and @HPMNK Thank you guys! I was afraid of this theme, but somehow just got up and had this idea immediately, and just went with it! :)

I really like the design and the aesthetics, the idea is pretty clever as well. The execution just isn't there, I wish I could have had a better jump arc with an indicator of where your jump will take you. Hope to see more from this!

The controls are a bit counterintuitive and the hitbox seems a bit too large. It's a really nice concept all in all but there's some room for improvement. The artstyle fits and is beautiful. Hope you do pursue it a bit further and publish it, it's practically perfect for mobile.
@Hopeen @kbjwes77 thanks guys, I will work on it more and publish it :)
The game looks and sounds awesome, congratulations. However as noted in some other comments it does lack some kind of feedback to have a better idea of how good my jump will be. I would also suggest adding some time constraint or a better solution to make the flow of the game better. Congrats for the entry!

Controlling that cute knight frog is so difficult. That's sad because I love the game's graphics and sound but I don't manage to get where I want to.
That put aside, I love the idea of creating the platforms with cards you have to pay. I'm pretty sure this idea could be used in something way more ambitious.
@ghust1995thanks, adding a time limit might be a good idea! @ryunos we will finish it I promise :)
@BoltKey @Ryunos @ghust1995 @kbjwes77 @fran-segura @Hopeen @swav_gav @trivial171 @Random-storykeeper @mrerdalural @potondo Guys, thanks to your feedback, I could make a bit of an update t the game. Jumping is smoother and the cards are not totally random anymore. Take another look if you have the time! Thanks again!
