LD44 — Your life is currency

Bullet Vomit by Xeke-Death 2019-05-05T15:06:05Z

Great time killer. Love how simple and easy to play it is. Too bad it doesn't have SFX and music. One suggestion I do have is making the HP bar transparent when a player/enemy is inside of it as it can hide enemies or even worse yourself if you're moving upwards.

Return of the Roguelike by Azargaz 2019-05-03T21:55:25Z

Very well made game, you did a great job. In addition to the suggestions that others had I'd recommend to do something about just running through and activating all of the blood fountains as a human. Depending on the RNG you can get all the money you need and you're moving so fast that the enemies can't hit you.

Blood Rite by Twan Mul 2019-05-01T17:31:48Z

The art is amazing. I find the gameplay quite charming with how the game actually only progresses while you're moving. Audio is nice and simple which fits the whole aesthetic. I do feel like the theme is not really there, I can see how you stretched it but don't really think it fits the theme fully. At the end it doesn't really matter how well it adheres to the theme. Bottom line, lovely game, would love to see you two expand it further and can't wait for future games!

300 Hearts for Escape by invader 2019-05-03T19:13:04Z

One of the most polished and best looking games I've seen in the jam so far. Would love to play it as a finished game, so hope you guys continue developing it!

Soul Knight by Apace 2019-05-01T17:51:21Z

One tough game, but I loved playing it, definitely has potential. The combat is a bit too difficult and not fair IMO. I agree with @sciman101 about a knockback mechanic, could be balanced with attack cooldown and enemies that parry or something like that. But, all in all wonderful game.

Gem Heart by Hopeen 2019-04-30T15:27:44Z

@Nikos The Shovel Knight inspiration was the breaking of the orbs similar to the checkpoints in shovel knight.

Gem Heart by Hopeen 2019-04-30T15:30:09Z

@youpeoples You should be able to break all of the orbs at any given time. I had a glitch where sometimes after restarting the level the orbs reset back although they shouldn't have. As for the jumping I had some issues when resizing the game, the hitboxes wouldn't align properly and if you stood on the edge of a block you wouldn't jump.

Gem Heart by Hopeen 2019-04-30T15:32:13Z

@drumgadget-433 Yea I'm the most disappointed with the level design, sadly didn't have too many different platformer mechanics that I could use for interesting levels and didn't have enough time to improve on the levels. Noted though, I hope I'll be able to transform the idea into a full game one day.

Gem Heart by Hopeen 2019-04-30T15:35:42Z

@shadow30 I was considering a mechanic like that but in the end I didn't have enough time to implement it. The jump you get after being hit was the poor man's solution to that.

Gem Heart by Hopeen 2019-05-03T18:58:47Z

@flashviper That's true. It definitely needs a lot more balancing in that regard and a separate way of gaining money. Will keep in mind though, thanks for the advice!

Mana Loss by Tempii 2019-05-01T17:13:07Z

The lack of animations can be a bit confusing, sometimes you don't really know what happened with your cards while the opponent is playing. However the game does have quite the potential, I really like the concept and the general feel of it. Hope to see you in the next jam!

Business Cat and the Literal Loan sharks by EggPlant891 2019-05-01T16:48:50Z

I also had issues with a really wide jump, might be missing something. A better distinction between foreground and background objects would probably help. I would also say that the game is a bit too slow, feels a bit like walking through mud. All in all it's a good game, love the art and the audio is great!

Zombie Rush by Johannimations 2019-05-01T17:19:19Z

It's a fun little game. Although I'm not sure if it fits with the theme that well, I can see the stretch but it's not quite on the mark, which is fine. I agree on the difficulty with others. All in all, good job on the entry! Hope to see you in future jams!

Money Mage by FlashViper 2019-05-01T17:41:21Z

My biggest issue was the coin management, I got stuck on an area where I couldn't really progress further due to killing myself with my own shots. And yea the jump is quite buggy. I also made a platformer for the first time, so I know your pain, damn is the movement hard to figure out. Props on the game though, it's a really nice concept and a decent execution. Hope to see more from you in the future.

We Are Nuts! by kaeveris 2019-05-02T06:51:06Z

A solid entry. Don't have really anything to add that other people haven't said already. A side thing I would suggest is checking the game resolution when you submit to itch.io. Unsure if I'm the only one but I couldn't see an acorn because it was cut off by the edge of the screen and I'm guessing it has something to do with itch.io sometimes screwing up the resolution. Again, not really something to do with the game but a good thing to check during the submission hour.

Anti-Hero by DrumGadget_433 2019-04-30T21:39:45Z

Took me a moment to understand what to do. It's fun and challenging. The art is superb and I appreciate the color choices for the kinds of foods as well as making them shaped differently, makes it easy for someone with color vision deficiency to play.

Our Dear Friend by Wildebeest 2019-05-02T06:34:06Z

Very beautiful, enjoyed playing it even with the very hard difficulty. Appreciate the updates also!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Rock, Paper, Scissors & Knuckles by Fylipp 2018-04-29T15:42:26Z

Took me a while to understand the controls, but after I did it did become quite fun. The game has some potential behind it. The obvious additions are better balancing, a tutorial, online multiplayer and AI, but all in all the game does the theme justice and is really well made.

NIGHT CLICKER by smaganik 2018-04-27T12:37:46Z

Interesting concept. Fits the theme really well and the atmosphere is well done. I'd suggest maybe adding an option menu for the mouse sensitivity but other than that a really well made game.

Beat TD by Steffo 2018-04-27T12:33:21Z

An amazing idea for the theme. The game does get quite repetitive, but it's indeed challenging with the fast beat. The artstyle is unique and fits the game well IMO. I would agree with some of the other commenters suggesting different tracks (maybe different map different track) and possibly a difficulty setting with easier and harder track choices.

BeMused by Dixonary 2018-04-27T12:54:05Z

Most unique game I have yet seen. It's way too challenging for me though. Great game overall.

Hungry Rabbits by okacat 2018-04-27T13:04:54Z

Cute and neat little game. Maybe adding some instructions would help but it's quick to learn how to play in any case.

Lost Without You by jackrugile 2018-04-29T14:38:32Z

Just pure awesome. Enjoyed it immensely. The atmosphere is great, gameplay is mostly smooth. Would love to see some further mechanics (possibly something like a guide firefly that uses light quickly) and levels and hope that you two keep working on it further.

Jumpcard by pestodesign 2018-04-27T15:13:46Z

The controls are a bit counterintuitive and the hitbox seems a bit too large. It's a really nice concept all in all but there's some room for improvement. The artstyle fits and is beautiful. Hope you do pursue it a bit further and publish it, it's practically perfect for mobile.

Type-Zero by Hopeen 2018-04-27T14:59:59Z

@evan-minto The booster near the start/finish line does speed you up a bit, but I did indeed forget to remove the ramp. Wanted to make my own map but in the end didn't have time to do any art.

Command Line Hero by BytingGames 2018-04-29T15:22:48Z

Nice little shooter. Had fun playing but it did feel a bit bland after a while. I have the same issue with my game where the amount of success is limited by the typing speed of the player. I think you could fix that by make a puzzle game possibly, limit the number of lines typed and actions per line and I think that would make for a cool puzzle shooter.

Kingdoms of Marazia - MMORTS by Siedge 2018-04-27T14:24:21Z

I think you were a bit too ambitious with this one. I do think it's a nice concept but it's not really playable at the moment. Hope you do continue to work on it and manage to turn it into something down the line.

Rolling Soccer by palsina 2018-04-27T14:42:37Z

It's a really solid game. The ball control is a bit wonky but you can get used to it. I really hope you have plans for pursuing this further and making a full release someday.
