Pretty solid idea for an entry, but your platforming physics feels a little 'floaty' by default, and the double jump is kind of bugged - it jumps further depending on when you use it, and it also doesn't seem to reset when you land, so you can pretty much fly.
Other than that, everything made sense and was intutive - I would have liked to see a bit more variation of some kind as you go on, but its a compo entry so I get the time pressures involved, and can't really fault you for not having a ton of different tilesets or whatever.

@mrnyarlathotep Thank you for the feedback! I saw the bug with double jump right before publishing the game and did not have enough time to fix it. Gotta remember next time to double check bugs like that.
And you're right that more variation would be great, but yeah, the time is pretty limited.
Charming :)
Good work :) All of your graphics look great. I will mention that for me the hearts were slightly off to the left so my last heart was getting cut in half. Also I will say that I liked the audio but I think some mixing could really help make it better. The main looping music is at a relatively low volume and the jump sound and buzzer are both a bit abrasive (the jump sound actually made me jump in my chair :P) overall good stuff :)
The game gets way more fun when you get double jump, maybe you could've added some choosable upgrades in early stages? Nice job!
I liked this game because it was so simple but also challenging but it felt a bit buggy and the physics where not the best

@kristinnes @norris-eldridge @raphael-maia @phantomeniasll Thank you for your feedback! It's true that the game is a bit buggy and there's not a lot of upgrades to choose from. It's good to know what to focus on in future LD :)

Nice hypnotysing music. I was failing all the time, but it and quick restart kept me going.
At one point it seems the squirel decided to stop jumping in web version (may be my fault, but may be a bug). Alson on level 4 or 5 that white thing does not appear.
Finally i am not sure if it is possoble to get the reward ) i was finishing with 2-3 hearts at best
Nice little platformer. The sounds are very sharp and hurt my ears a bit. With the double jump I was able to jump an infinite amount of times, I don't think that was supposed to happen, was it?

Nice puzzle platformer. I'm not sure if it was a bug or intentionally but when I die it keeps restarting the audio making it sound super glitchy (if I hit jump it keeps repeating the start up the jump audio). I actually thought it made cool angry death audio after having a nice friendly feeling while alive.

@seriar @sheepolution @neonjeff Thank you for the feedback! Thanks for info about the bugs, I think I should give more time to testing before publishing
lovely :)
I like the fact that it isn't always obvious which way you should go. Nice game, draws you in fairly quickly

Quite simple and good idea but I found some bugs like: Bad screen ratio, Win and lose at the same time, Infinite jumps. Graphics are cute. Good entry! Good Luck!

Looks like there's a bug with screen refresh rates - If it's too high, you move too slowly to beat even the first level (or even grab the second nut).
I lowered my refresh rate and all was good! Increasing the hitbox to pick up nuts could make it feel less like you need to really "reach" for them. Nice little platforming game!

@jofersgames @fear-games @falak @liauj Thank you for feedback! Didn't know about refresh rates and win and lose at the same time, thank you for letting me know :)
I ran into problems with the aspect ratio cutting off part of the left heart on html5. The controls also felt very floaty like the player was on a low gravity planet. Cute though!
Cute squirrel! Thank you for providing a web version!
I wonder if I was having the same problem as @liauj , I could beat the levels, but with just barely one heart left. By the time I got to the fourth level (with no upgrades!) it was impossible to get the final acorn and get to the exit before running out of hearts. Cute grafx tho!
Like DANG if this squirrel is so hungry he'll die in 15 sec you'd think he'd move a little faster for those nuts lol

A solid entry. Don't have really anything to add that other people haven't said already. A side thing I would suggest is checking the game resolution when you submit to itch.io. Unsure if I'm the only one but I couldn't see an acorn because it was cut off by the edge of the screen and I'm guessing it has something to do with itch.io sometimes screwing up the resolution. Again, not really something to do with the game but a good thing to check during the submission hour.

The game looks cute but I found some issues you might want to fix: - The double jump works in a weird way, it looks like it doubles your current speed, if you double click too quickly you jump way higher than two jumps good timed. - The speed buff looks very random, I'm walking and suddenly he rushes and stop, that sometimes do the opposite of helping. - The online version has some resolution problem, in one of the levels the nut spawns outside the screen (You can still see the glow of it)
But the game is good, just need some polishment...
Congrats ^^
Btw, just made you pass the 20 points :3

@mikelovesrobots @dasmaichen @cheesepencil @hopeen @shunaky Thank you for the feedback! Thanks for letting me know about resolution, now I know I should check it as well. And yes, double jump doubles your speed, I did it for testing and was going to update that but forgot.

Nice game ! I love the graphics ( the squirrel is cute ) ! Nice job !
The levels are tuned super tight so you really have to be on the ball to get everthing. On the 4th level the acorn is barely visible and almost off the screen to the left. Love the art and music. Super cute and charming. Jumpign off the edge of a ledge felt a little buggy - like sometimes I would get stuck, but then I learned the jump off the edge of a ledge on purpose and that made things really interesting. The speed buff is insane! You move soooo fast
Nice polished entry for a game made in a short amount of time. It would be good if the collision boxes were adjusted as it's easy to get stuck and blocked by platforms around you. The acorns look ace!

I think if you use health as a timer, then it's just a timer. Change every heart icon into a clock icon then everything is still the same. If my character is bleeding or injured, then losing my life fast make sense. However except the theme part, you do complete a nice game, good job
I found that (even before double jump was unlocked) I could do a jump off the side of a platform. But, because the time limits were so short, I found myself using that as part of the puzzle solving element, so it ended up being very interesting!
I also liked that even as your speed and jump really increased, the fall speed didn't, so you had to be deliberate about falling down.
Nicely done!

Pretty nice game but feels a bit unbalanced and buggy (double jump esp).
Besides that, really nice graphics and I like the innovation.

I broke the game :'( ! At the level with 4 nuts. Anyway, it's simple and addictive ! Good submission ! I'd have put a different music per level.

@t-bo @candlesan @scott-redrup @sakkia @baby-dino-herd @leary93 @msalison Thank you for the feedback! My idea for health bar is that it is used as a timer, that's true, but it is also a currency - if you have enough health left you can buy upgrades

Hey, very cool graphics. I even like the simplistic music, though it gets a little repetitive over time.
Your physics are really crazy. Your double-jump is not a even a triple-jump, its an infinite-jump. Also sometimes the squirrel does not land after it, just keeps floating. Other times I get stuck on the side of a platform, you should double-check your collision detection.
The speed increase is really shocking. Together with the double-jump you move through the world like SuperSquirrel!
I like the difficulty of the first levels but it only gets easier from there. Especially when you get the infinite jumping ability. Dropping difficulty is not good, ideally you start easy, get people used to your controls and get harder from there. Your game is the other way around. I hope you impove your balancing issues in your next LD entry. Please do not take this negatively, I hope you see the point, just trying to give you hints about what to improve.
Overall a very cool little platformer, nice graphics and sound, easy to pick up. Great job, keep up the good work!
Was able to get through quite a few levels but the windows did feel a bit tight (very possible my platforming skills are a bit rusty and my jumping was a bit suboptimal)
Felt the frenzy of a squirrel just trying to get a nut to survive
Really enjoyed the art style and overall feel of being in the trees.
well done

It's hard but addictive! I want to see upgrades after 7 hearts but it seems impossible for me (currently have 3)

A simple and really cute little game. The graphics and music is pretty good. The time to get through the levels is a bit short. Overall a pretty good LD game. Well done.

Double jump was infinite for me too, and I got stuck in a jump on the bottom level once. I wish I could have seen where the exit was ahead of time to try to speed things up a bit, but overall, good work.

Very charming game, with the exception of the platforms the art was really good. Physics were a bit floaty, and double jump not working quite as intended(though it was fun to use it kinda like flappy-bird). The speed boost you got was also a bit high, didn't really make it easier. It was still pretty fun to play though, the first levels could have been a bit easier.

I really liked the cute graphics. The idea is simple and works well, but you need to polish the jump logic, as others have mentioned.
Audio-wise, the music track fit the graphics and the setting, but the SFX could still use some more work or toning down, at the moment they were quite loud and felt a bit annoying.
Cool entry, more so for a compo game. Congrats!
