super cool project, i like that the colliders all work, at a certain point i'd divided the world into two hemispheres and they even kept the clouds all on one side of the planet. Real creative and fun experience

yaroslav-kravtsov 2019-10-08 22:24

Short, but brilliant game. I'd like to know more how you managed to make planets and pathfinding on spheres in Unity.

rhoffsch 2019-10-08 22:34

Fun little game. Had fun being god for a moment. Nice AI!

daria-toni 2019-10-08 23:12

Why is this game so small! Such a cute interactive toy. I wish I could see more of this. Cool graphics and atmospheric mood. Special plus for this vivid voice.

johnnysix 2019-10-08 23:38

Amazing stuff! I'd love to see a video of Ragnarok ahah, my PC crashes the window when I hit the button.

A sub-division surface, like Mudbox/Z-brush work, with adaptive / non-linear tesselation would be cool, so the mountains etc could have things like overhangs / caves etc.

@yaroslav-kravtsov: Thanks for the feedback! The pathfinding on the sphere is done by reading in all the vertices of the mesh and creating traversible nodes for them. Once a node is created is connected within a spherical range to connect with its neighbours. In this way you create a whole network of nodes. Each nodes holds a list of connections to its neighbours. Then we can run A* on the nodes to find a path between two points (the points are first converted to the closest node on the network). The tricky part is to update the sphere in real time, when you terraform the planet, the vertices are pushed outwards and I stored each vertex index in the node of the grid so that we can react to the change and update the node accordingly. Finally the creatures and trees are updated by doing a raycast from their extended position from the center back to the center of the planet and put them at that position.

@johnnysix: Thanks for the feedback! The Ragnarok-crash is a built-in feature :) I will put a version online soon, that just kills everything on the planet and makes the ending more clear.

yaroslav-kravtsov 2019-10-09 12:22

@dikkop thank you for explanation! Good luck with your game!

theomaniacal 2019-10-09 22:09

Nice work! I like the low-poly aesthetic. The narration made me laugh, and I had fun destroying objects with lightning.

team-on 2019-10-09 22:33

Short, but fun game. Are it planning to become smth like B&W?

fredbernardo 2019-10-09 23:09

Well done! The graphics are really cute, I like the theme and the sounds are great. Waiting for one thing to finish its animation to spawn the next one is strange though. And I would put some more work on the UI. But great entry overall!

death-is-cold 2019-10-10 00:07

Very cool idea

samdwester 2019-10-10 00:14

I liked the atmosphere of the game, it's quite immersive. Fun to play!

cephalo 2019-10-10 02:30

I loved this game. This is everything I want from zen gardens. Phenomenal work.

tomeks 2019-10-10 03:13

Best game I've seen so far, so much technical details goes into making something like this (the faux physics, terraforming etc). I had one issue, after ragnarok the game just gave me black screen is it intended as "the end" ? Very well done.

dikkop 2019-10-10 07:43

@tomeks Jep, Ragnarok is the end of the world and so the game ends with nothing left...

thatmalzan 2019-10-11 20:45

Nicely done.

kanonix 2019-10-12 07:26

Impressive work for such a short time. You can be proud, good job !

kuviman 2019-10-12 07:45

Very nice music :)

pestodesign 2019-10-12 08:28

Nice, I love the terraforming! Also, that the vikings appear and eat everything up. Would be nice though if they would build some basic homes or something. Oh, and I know what Ragnarök means, still, I just clicked it on my first play curious what will happen, and than BOOM! :D Maybe the narrator from the beginning can ask 'are you sure you want to wipe it all?' Anyway these are just my ideas, this is a solid little game!

dikkop 2019-10-12 14:57

@pestodesign Thank you for playing and feedback! The vikings actually do build homes eventually, but they need enough wood and food to do so.

felipegeovani 2019-10-12 16:40

Sincerely guy, I found your game the best of this jam, simple and fun, easy to learn and quite attached to gameplay. congratulations on your work, you have a great future ahead

lonewolfdev 2019-10-12 18:28

Amazing! I love the art and the way you can shape the planet on your will! Nice idea! Maybe some kind of objectives or resources needed as a requirement to place new elements on the planet would convert it more in a "game" than just a experience. But well done!

pestodesign 2019-10-12 20:27

@dikkop Oh cool! I was just unpatient than!

trinarr 2019-10-12 23:22

Seems pretty similar to Godus. But with Ragnarok inside. Great concept! :D

velvetlobster 2019-10-13 23:57

Not sure how I had not seen this one before, this was cool, the voices made it soo special!

Here is a world i made so full of crowns ... btw it made my browser really slow but I do not regret it!

lukein 2019-10-14 04:30

That's a pretty nice god game! There is definitely potential for a full game release with this concept.

jin9310 2019-10-14 11:09

Really nice game you have crated! I love such calm and creative types of experience! Thank you for that

lexyvil 2019-10-19 00:09

Fun and cute little game! My girlfriend was playing and she clicked "Ragnarok" without knowing its meaning and she was sad seeing her little world blown up.

bungalow 2019-10-19 05:24

Amazing art, hilarious but fitting sounds, really moody, great lighting and a super relaxing game! Awesome job!

room606 2019-10-19 08:28

Very nice meditative game. After Ragnarok.. how do I restart the World? :)

actual-potato-69 2019-10-19 08:48

I loved every minute of it. Great production, great music, sound effects, graphics, and mechanics. Good Job! One of the best games I've played here for sure!

jiri-hysek 2019-10-19 09:41

Amazing! I like low-poly graphics, music and overall atmosphere. Also it's great you can change terrain! Really cool entry!

ninnec 2019-10-20 01:31

Really cool game! Very Impressive! Love the narrator voice

lars-erik 2019-10-20 11:56

Brilliant! I'll buy this when richer in features, polished and on Steam. :) Would be sweet if you could just hold the button to plop down trees and rocks.

tyrannas 2019-10-20 12:02

The music is so nice! Love it! And it's really fun to play, just a bit short :P

solah 2019-10-20 13:34

The music and graphics are so good. Good god game, I really like the end with Ragnarok. Well done!

cole-and-jordan-studios 2019-10-20 16:22

Really excellent job. A little short but surprisingly aesthetically pleasing. Nicely done!

dans17 2019-10-21 23:46

I really enjoyed the concept and aesthetic! I would like to see a larger version of this, maybe with a challenge of trying to balance things and keep life on the world alive as long as possible.

asue 2019-10-22 09:33

I loved playing this game, really very nice, well done =D

rodrigo-denubila 2019-10-22 12:16

Wow!!! This is amazing! I really loved this experience. The only problem with this game is that it ends. Please, continue working on a full game with this concept. I definitely will buy it when you release!

virimine 2019-10-22 18:01

Voice over nailed it! Graphics and music are cool too. Post jam, you could make it more like an autonomous system, say, add interactions between living things or clouds filling lakes etc. I liked the ending that "whipped" the game too, tho I wasn't sure if it ended fore some moments :P Also, nice take on the theme! Would love to play some more of it. :) Good job!

king-kujito 2019-10-26 16:49

This is very cute

takayamushi 2019-10-26 17:32

Wow beautiful! Love the work everyone, nicely done

f1krazy 2019-10-26 21:25

God games are always fun, and this was no exception. The tools are simple, but let you craft features like forests, mountains, lakes, and seas with ease. I love that the Vikings not only cut down trees, but use the wood to construct little houses for themselves, that's a really neat touch.

I'd like to see an expanded version of this with a few more options for things to place, and more ways for things to interact. And maybe more ways in which your world can be destroyed, because that's always fun (but then it starts a new game rather than crashing to desktop)

yorsh 2019-10-28 12:27

That's pretty much what I had in mind for my game at first, but I figured that I wouldn't have time to do it well in compo (so I went for a simpler 2D version of it). I really like your version, it's simple, fun, with a great mood :)

elysiagriffin 2019-10-30 02:05
