Very cool. I like the playstation style graphics...and good controls.

lakshyaisagod 2021-04-26 02:38

Bruh!Amazing Game.Your Coding skills have gone up and beyond!Brilliant game dude, have to give it a five.

spydercrawler 2021-04-26 02:49

Wow, the graphics were incredible! Also, the game just had a really nice atmosphere. My only complaint was that the tutorial felt a bit long. Overall, though, great work!

youthfulidealism 2021-04-26 03:15

The aesthetics are fantastic. The audio is decent, and paired very well with the alternating-click-to-reel mechanic. I really liked the alternating-click-to-reel mechanic. It felt visceral.

My primary critique is that the tutorial sequence was so long that I couldn't keep all the instructions in my head. I suspect that the game is intuitive enough for some of the tutorial steps to be removed.

adamsmccall 2021-04-26 03:17

Awesome game! It felt good to chill after coding all weekend. Great graphics, great ambiance, great everything really ! The story is simple yet beautiful. Though, as spydercrawler pointed out, the tutorial was a bit long.

Also I had a bug, after completing the story, I wanted to collect more item but when I got back to fishing I just couldn't use the fishing rod no matter how I clicked :sob:

xenon27 2021-04-26 03:23

Amazing! the tutorial was very good, all the different mechanics involved make it engaging, and the ending was nice. Thoroughly enjoyed playing!

liammasters 2021-04-26 03:27

Very cute and relaxing game. The graphics are awesome and the controls are intuitive. I felt like the tutorial was a little wordy and there were too many boxes to the point that I just wanted to click through them. Very fun and the music/sound effects were great!

brielley 2021-04-26 06:14

Cool art, and I love the detailed tutorial. Super relaxing. I'm really enjoy it.

voxel-forest 2021-04-26 08:03

Amazing game ! In all point ! The only problem I could find is that we can't clearly see when the fish bite the rod. Despite that, the rest of the game is just excellent, love the audio, graphics, gameplay. Well done !

squimmy 2021-04-26 09:38

Absolutely lovely. The visuals and audio come together wonderfully to create an amazing, relaxing atmosphere. If I was to make one suggestion, it would be to make the tutorial a bit more interactive. Letting me try out the controls as their explained would be easier and more intuitive than trying to remember it all at once and then only get to try it out once the tutorial has finished. I really love the music, by the way. And I liked that the main gameplay is done in near silence. It makes the whole experience more relaxing and makes reeling in the fish feel so much more tense thanks to the contrast.

rouge-dragon 2021-04-26 14:21

Really cute and quiet game! The tutorial is too long, and thus the first time I didn't read everything and missed some information. The soundtrack at the beginning is wonderful! Great job!!!

oysuta 2021-04-26 14:55

I love fishing games and this one is really nice and relaxing, has great potential.

dmdmdmdm 2021-04-26 16:54

Love the graphics! But too many tutorials and that you had to guess the depth was a bit irritating when you just want to fish :D

alexjdg 2021-04-26 16:57

What a lovely game. I played through the whole thing and enjoyed every part. The art style is phenomenal, how did you achieve the 3d pixel-art effect?

chumzy 2021-04-26 17:03

Amazing mood and relaxing, I just think there was too much text at the beginning

chiyeon 2021-04-26 17:54

@alexjdg Thanks for playing!

I used Blender to model and paint the models. I followed this setup tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQVAUaSUP-k

matthew-cohan 2021-04-26 21:40

Wow! Amazing game, I loved the mood, graphics and audio. It was very relaxing and immersive

drew-abegg 2021-04-27 04:10

Delightful little game.

This is everything a jam game should be. It's simple, but it makes full and effective use of it's mechanics and visuals.

It was the visuals that reeled me in. The boat is so adorable that I don't mind it being just about the only thing you see for the whole game (aside from the collectables, which also look nice).

The sound design is lovely, and I've enjoyed listening to the title theme on loop while writing this. And the jingle that plays when you catch a fish would make a great ringtone.

The gameplay is similarly simple, but I'd say it's about the best time I've had fishing in any game. It has some moments of complexity when you have to track down multiple fish at a time before they get away, but mostly, it's very easy and laid back. The tutorial may have dragged on a bit longer than I'd've liked, but it's not a big deal.

The little bit of story in this game is an unexpected touch, and I think it does it's part to add to the atmosphere of the game. I think the twist deserved more of a set up though.

Very well done chiyeon!

seanlim 2021-04-27 16:45

Love the polish to your game! Visual and sound design work together really well and the casting mechanic is easy to figure out. Wish I had more feedback for when the you've casted to the wrong depth though.

cekitian 2021-04-27 20:10

Very cute little game! Quite hard at times but it is enjoyable! The only critique I have is that spamming left click for the tutorial is quite annoying, I feel that it could have been done in a better way, but other than that, it was a nice experience!

magna 2021-04-27 20:13

Not gonna lie, I got stuck for a while on the tutorial "left click to drag and release" haha but after that it was quite fun, also relaxing even tho is hard

mharitsnf 2021-04-28 03:27

I love the graphics and the audio! It reminds me of A Short Hike. Very calming and beautiful. Thanks for making this!

floxy 2021-04-28 12:44

Really nice game found all collectables. Sound is very atmospheric. Graphics are awesome. Some nitpicks i have: The music as you catch a fish loops, would be cool if the fish escapes when ends. The hook on the fishing rod starts to go down before it hits the water. Overall a fantastic game.

hilvon 2021-04-29 05:54

Really good relaxing game.

Found a minor bug when 2 fishes spawned with depth that overlaps I decided to try being smart and sent the hook into the overlap zone, thinking that this will trigger the catch no matter if this was the right depth for these bubbles. But when I got the catch both fishes despawned. Not a big bug but still a bug.

Also maybe I just got unlucky with RNG but I felt like the mechanic of having several debth options and having to guess which one corresponds to whic bubbles spot, was underused, as I mostly gor those fishing spots one by one.

The ending dialogue was really sweet and touching.

Love the music and sound effects.

arancutter 2021-04-29 10:51

This was a great chill game. I love the piano music and low-poly art. There's enough gameplay to keep me engaged but it doesn't overstay its welcome. The humor is funny and I wanted to catch more stuff to read all the descriptions. This game really works on all levels.

I did find the tutorial to be too long. Actually, at one point I thought maybe this wasn't a fishing game at all, and instead the joke was that it was never ending tutorial dialogue (Not to offend, I thought it would have been amusing!) But I know patience is key when fishing... :smirk:

I really just loved it. It's great. Thanks for making it.

peachtreeoath 2021-04-30 08:33

Nice work, for a compo game you squeezed more work than I would have expected. Several different parts to the fishing system, a good handful of collectables, and a cohesive package or audio to go with it.

Fishing games are a dime a dozen, but you managed to toss in some new things I hadn't seen before. I've never seen that depth selection mechanic. I've also never seen one that gave you experience per new species you found. That made collecting that much more compelling and drew me in to keep playing.

The first item I got was the bow and I thought that was hilarious. It definitely set the mood that I was going to be fishing up some pretty interesting items.

I'm a big fan of fishing games and have made one myself. I think this was a solid package and you have a really good grasp on what makes these games enjoyable.

brian-mayberry 2021-04-30 17:51

Love the chill vibe of this one. The graphics and audio are perfectly selected, and the mechanics are nicely tuned. Great job, one of my favorites of LD48.

paulloz 2021-05-01 15:01

Loved it! I just want to chill in my little boat and fish all day. I would have liked to get a bigger feedback when the bobble goes under the water, but apart from that it's perfect. Well done!

rhoff95 2021-05-03 23:04

Great game. Really cool fishing mechanics, and visuals are great.

embedder72 2021-05-05 15:52

Really nice. I was really impressed with how intuitive the controls where. Might be nice to have the tutorial be in larger chunks. Probably the best overall game I've played so far.

onedozenbagels 2021-05-06 00:33

Really nice game. Controls were intuitive. The mood and game play were both laid back and relaxing. The relaxing piano music also helped with the mood. Liked the ending too. My only (small) complaint is the tutorial was kinda long, and I missed something in the instructions and had to play it again to figure out what I was doing wrong. Keep up the good work!

pestodesign 2021-05-07 18:24

Such a smooth and simple fishing game! Not overdone, just the basics, very cute!

filgru 2021-05-09 12:15

Plop, I dropped my keys:) Haha:) Very nice and positive game. I spent really nice time playing it. At first I had to figure out why I can't catch anything but then everything was super clear!:) I really like the simple graphics and the sounds. Great job!
