abdul-zakkar 2019-10-07 20:56

I gotta say, the appearance of this game really drew me to take a look! It looks beautiful :) Initially I had no idea what the controls were until I realized there was a page for it. Music is great. I first lost to the computer, then beat it in the next game :) I found a good strategy was to spam "sexy" :D and that's where I feel like this game could use some improvement. I did not feel like there was much depth to the strategy, but I also feel like that could be fixed with some balancing. I also wanted to mention, I may be a bit slow after the jam but I didn't realize how the main mechanic worked until the second game! I thought I had to get my boxes all the way to the other side. Overall, well polished game, job well done!

nithin 2019-10-07 21:03

very sexy but game is too long

pestodesign 2019-10-07 21:21

@abdul-zakkar thanks, I was working very hard on the graphics! We tried to explain all the rules and shiw it in the UI with the scire, sounds and the colorchange of the boxes. And try it against another human that is awesome :D

pestodesign 2019-10-07 21:22

@nithin thanks for the feedback! We were testing with family members, and this seemed like a good lenght. Each game is about 3-4 minutes long, enough to turn the tide a few times. How long should it be in your oppinion? Or did it feel slow?

nithin 2019-10-07 22:39

@pestodesign it was a great game, I just didn't read the rules properly and was playing with a friend and it was like when will the game end? It's my bad

pestodesign 2019-10-08 06:42

@nithin Oh, ok cool! I am glad you like it! We also tested with friends, there were some heated battles!

t-bo 2019-10-08 07:03

Great graphics and nice gameplay ! The music and sound fit perfectly with the game ! Very cool and unique tower defense game ! Congrats !

pestodesign 2019-10-08 07:25

@t-bo thank you! We worked super hard! Time to check out your game too, now that I'm finally awake :smiley_cat:

ferdi 2019-10-08 13:40

Super neat entry. Good point for the title and tutorial screen, that makes your game feel really polished. Overall design is nice and efficient. I won but it was definitely a hard battle :) . I love the split screen mechanic where randomness can still occur and moving cubes can fall on one side or the other. This is a very efficient tension point. GG guys !

space-nomad 2019-10-08 16:13

A very nice and addictive game. The audio is a little too repetitive though

pestodesign 2019-10-08 16:14

@Ferdi Thank you! Our main idea was to create a bit of chaos while maintaining a strategy game.

pestodesign 2019-10-08 16:33

@space-nomad Thanks! I personally love the pumping music for this game, but it can be repetitive for some. And I am very glad you find it addictive, we wanted to make the fun factor and replayability very high!

aleksandar2901 2019-10-08 17:21

Honestly i love the mood it sets, it's really fun to play

pestodesign 2019-10-08 18:15

@aleksandar2901 Thanks!

prasolova-masha 2019-10-08 18:16

Beautifully looking graphics, and intense gameplay

pestodesign 2019-10-08 18:21

@prasolova-masha Thank you! Our family tested it on Sunday and we tried to hone the gameplay in this short time.

jk5000 2019-10-08 18:22

A super simple and fun little multiplayer game. I love both the music and graphics. Overall is this a very good jam game. Well done.

pestodesign 2019-10-08 18:35

@jk5000 Thanks! We made a super simple AI enemy but yes, it is the most fun to play it against another human!

daniiln 2019-10-08 19:46

Also, from the first play I did not figure out how to win, but the second time I understood everything. This game is fun to play together! Work on balance and add variety and it will be cool!)

attala 2019-10-08 19:48

Fun game that kept me playing for a while. A good sign :) I like the game mechanics and the art. Music is well made but gets repetetive. The AI did it's job well. Gave me a challenge. Well done!

cax 2019-10-08 19:51

I like the art style you used. Nice entry!

pestodesign 2019-10-08 19:51

@daniiln Thanks! We were playing it a lot and balanced it as much as we could in this 3 days - and we might polish it later, also for mobile :) @attala That's a really good sign! Thanks!

pestodesign 2019-10-08 19:57

Thank you @cax ! I had a lot of fun with the droids!

brotherbondproduction 2019-10-08 20:22

Loved this game! It was quite a bit of fun to play with brother, but for some reason my mouse cursor disappeared at the start and I couldn't select any of the menu buttons properly. Great characters and sound design!

Cheers!

pestodesign 2019-10-08 20:29

@brotherbondproduction Thanks, I am glad you liked our game! We have a custom cursor in Unity and worked well so far! I will tell our developer!

hanna-knop 2019-10-08 20:36

Great game! Couldn't even stop playing. I bet you had a hard time with the graphics, but it was so worth it! Good job, thank you for this fun game :-)

tricky-fat-cat 2019-10-08 20:41

I've played this kind of games before, but, you've managed to make this genre more dynamic and more interesting to play. Also, I like the art style, great job.

djee 2019-10-08 22:48

Very solid overall entry, with decent everything, including title screen. I missed the instructions in the separate image instead of inside the game, and with not-so-intuitive key mapping couldn't figure out how to do anything during almost the entire first game. Otherwise I liked it quite a lot, except for some phases where CPU has a slight time advantage and both sides spam some Sexy, resulting in the CPU accumulating points since they collide always on my side and have same power. That results in a possible situation where the game gets rigged unless the attacker stops spamming.

pestodesign 2019-10-09 06:52

@djee Thanks for the detailed feedback! Yes, ingame tutorial would be great, but dare I say we hardly had time? :D it is a good point thoug for later! Against spamming those little Sexy bots we made the Drone, it can be quite effective and can turn the tide!

pestodesign 2019-10-09 06:56

@artyom-volkov great to hear that thanks! I always want to make games that are so new and so different, but this time we just went with the flow. We added a new element with the trashboxes, other than that it is just a tower offense game.

pestodesign 2019-10-09 07:00

Thanks @hanna-knop , it was the first time working with a developer, so I had more energy to make the assets. And than adding the menu screen was my favorite part, because I wanted to make it epic! Did you play with someone too? That ia the best! An old friend showed up yesterday and soon we had a mini championship at home

hanna-knop 2019-10-09 07:18

Sounds like a lot of fun @pestodesign! I'll try that later with a friend, thank you! The menu screen truly is amazing, well done :)

jonas-michael 2019-10-09 14:44

I really loved this game. @hanna-knop suggested it to me and I immediately fell in love with the graphics and the music. I think strategywise the game is lacking some... lets say variety, but for a game done in 72h this it truly amazing! I will keep playing this game in the future!

pestodesign 2019-10-09 15:35

Thanks @jonas-michael ! This is as much as we could get in 3 days, yes :D But, I like to think about it that it is like a short minigame you can play with friends anytime. Like tic-tac-toe or something :) We are glad you like it!

I have a list of about 60 games I will try from this jam, yours is on it already! Nice to meet you :)

jin9310 2019-10-09 17:47

Really amazing entry, that makes one to come back and try it again and better! Also wondering how this would go against a real opponent. Great Job! Thank you for this experience

pestodesign 2019-10-09 17:52

@jin9310 Thank you! I am glad you wanted to come back for more! Try it against a real opponent, if you can really, it is such a big fun. We had a lot of laughing and cursing on our play tests :D

thank you.png

drazhaar 2019-10-09 17:59

Really nice art and consistant universe! I feel like the gamedesign needs a bit of tweak to make the strategy really interesting, but it's very impressive for a gamejam entry. 2 modes, wow. Good job !

pestodesign 2019-10-09 18:30

Thank you @drazhaar ! What would you add strategy wise? We were trying a mode which is harder, where your resource bar is depleating to zero with every robot you make. That would make the game more strategic, but we thought more boring too. As most of the time you would just wait.

4quet 2019-10-09 20:38

Really interesting idea, it was quite fun ! Maybe you could add some random events to help the losing player to make it a little more interesting ? I think it would make a great mobile game with a few more feature :) Loved the art as well !

pestodesign 2019-10-09 20:42

Thanks @4quet ! What events would you add? Any ideas? We are planning on a mobile versions, where two people can play on the same phone. :)

hare-software 2019-10-09 21:42

Amazing artwork, very creative take on the theme while also being nicely polished and easy to understand. Very good work, congratulations on your great game!

andreas-roschal 2019-10-09 23:52

The game looks visually very appealing. But I think the mechanics are a bit too simple. The game doesn't really seem to come to an end as well.

pestodesign 2019-10-10 06:58

@hare-software Thank you!As we worked in a team now I felt I have much morw time for the design!

@andreas-roschal I am happy you like the graphics! The game is simple, but it has some mechanics at least :D we are happy that it works. It is finishing when someone is reaching 100 trash, a game is about 4 minute long. It did not end for you?

andreas-roschal 2019-10-10 11:09

@pestodesign Ah sorry, I missed the part in the info image where it said first to 100 loses. Now it makes sense. Should have probably played about half a minute longer and I would have noticed myself >.<

belug23 2019-10-10 11:55

Thanks for that game it was a plesant 15 min of my life! That is why I love game jams!

Good luck in your next ones.

hatten 2019-10-10 14:10

Nice one! Graphics is very good and the idéa is funny. The gameplay is maybe a bit linear but still fun.

pestodesign 2019-10-10 15:09

thank you3.png

@belug23 Thank you for playing! It means a lot for us!

@hatten Thanks, I worked a lot on the graphics! We kept it simple deliberately, to make something finished! :)

leoking 2019-10-10 16:48

the style of the game is very cool but the games are a bit too long and too repetitive. You should add some more gameplay and you will have a very good game

pestodesign 2019-10-10 18:13

@leoking Thanks! We will work on this for sure later. We are glad we made something finished at least during the jam. Any ideas what would you add? What did you miss?

purpoappo 2019-10-10 19:40

Art was great and pretty fun gameplay, new features would be nice but a great game.

shelvid 2019-10-10 19:54

I love the simple take on strategy formula :) I even managed to find the "Zerg Rush" equivalent in this game (Spamming Sexy bois). It's definitely very simple and fits the theme perfectly too :) loved the concept of having to move your trash to enemy teams side as well, pretty hilarious. I had one issue but mostly because i don't have a 16:9 monitor, i couldn't see bottom UI (if there was supposed to be one) nor the bases with turrets and stuff :) Very fun entry in general, well done!

pestodesign 2019-10-10 20:30

@purpoappo thank you!

@shelvid Ah that's a petty! We had only energy to implement one screen proportion. We will fix that later too for sure! The Sexy rush can be broken with a drone followed by some droids! ;)

imphenzia 2019-10-11 21:30

Why do I keep missing instructions - I started the game, couldn't make anything happen, looked on the game page (but on itch, saw no instructions), tried again, nothing happened. Then I realized I was running in full screen and it cropped off everything at the bottom of the screen. Played in windowed mode, still didn't understand what to do... then hammered the keyboard and something happened. Then figured out 1-5 :) Then I noticed now that I was going to feedback that you had a super cool instruction posted on the LD-page of course, haha. I was not a great fan of the game play itself, but I did like the idea. Mostly I liked the artstyle, mood, and music. I think it would be worth including instructions in the game too on the menu screen - for silly people like me :)

pestodesign 2019-10-12 06:49

@imphenzia thanks, I am glad you played our game that is not your style! There is an instruction on the main menu jnder the help button, but a lot of people miss it! I will post it on itch.io too, good idea!

netmute 2019-10-12 09:30

A very well executed game, but SO. FRUSTRATING. :grimacing: Whoever sends their bot first is guaranteed to drop their box on the other side, because all the bots walk at the same speed.

So, great game! grml...

pestodesign 2019-10-12 09:36

Haha I Get you @netmute it can be very heavy! We had a build where there were different speeds, but we did not have enough time to test that for balance. We will do that for the afterjam build for sure. You might end up with a few extra boxes, but winning is not guaranteed, if the bot is meeting a bigger one, or you use a drone. Thanks for playing!

pedro-rosa 2019-10-12 11:29

Overall I liked the game the idea is different and innovative. It feels well with the jam's them. The graphics are very interesting and the animations are simple but work really well. Great job.

drtizzle 2019-10-12 11:30

A very polished entry! I really like the concept and the graphics, it looks really slick. I'm not sure what the right tactic is to win, or how I am in control of winning. It seemed a bit too random. It would be nice to put some skill based mechanics in it (timing of spawning, dropping bombs etc.). Overall very well made, very solid!

pestodesign 2019-10-12 14:18

@pedro-rosa Glad you liked it! I am just working on a small blogpost about how to survive a jam with as minimal animation as possible :D (the key is timing and using vector I think)

@drtizzle Thanks for the feedback! I don't think there is a winning tactic, because there are different counter-tactics for anything. Someone before mentioned smurfing with the Sexy bots, but that can be broken with a drone or a Big mama to halt them a bit. Or my friend was trying it the other day and she just spawned the big ones n a row, but that also can be broken. If we will work more on the game we will playtest it more for sure, testing for sspawn times, speed of droids etc. And random events also are on the list, like bombs and explosions. I am very happy that we even could test as little as we did, because that already gave so much feedback and shaped the game.

diptoman 2019-10-13 03:03

Loved it! Didn't realize the 1-5 controls the first time round, but once you get it it's really fun! The artwork is amazing too, as an icing on the cake! :) Lost two very close matches against the AI before getting a win, so that was satisfying. :)

pestodesign 2019-10-13 07:02

@diptoman Cool! Thanks for playing! We want to put out the controls to the icons as well so you can play with a click or a touch on tablet/ mobile.

enzo-b 2019-10-13 14:54

nice gameplay i like it keep up the good work! :D

pestodesign 2019-10-13 16:16

Thanks @enzo-b !

krakadushka 2019-10-13 20:22

Beautiful graphic!

pestodesign 2019-10-13 20:24

@krakadushka Thanks! I have some ideas for improvement :)

stark 2019-10-15 15:53

Liked overall: graphics, sound, and intense gameplay. But felt like the game miss some more strategy and diversity within decision.

pestodesign 2019-10-15 17:00

Thank you @stark ! We have some more ideas already how to make it more strategic. Do you have any concrete tips? What did you miss? We really want to male this good :)

stark 2019-10-15 19:11

@pestodesign, well, I think that Rock–paper–scissors variation in such games is a most usable design solution.

pestodesign 2019-10-15 20:20

@stark Good point! We were totally considering it but that needs a lot of testing and we did not have time during the jam obviously. But thanks for the input, it gets on the idea list!

kyle-bowman 2019-10-18 21:02

Really cool game. Enjoyed destroying my friend in it and calling him trash. Great job!!!

pestodesign 2019-10-18 21:36

Thanks @kyle-bowman ! We will work on it more so you can trash your friends on mobile too! :D

johnnysix 2019-10-19 21:17

Very cool, great concept. Very polished for the 72h.

I wish the cannot flew further, didn't feel like it shot the garbage far enough across the screen.

I got owned by the computer.

ld45_db-050.jpg

itsdanidre 2019-10-20 02:39

That was some intense strategy gaming! And one the games I find really fun this Ludum Dare! Nice!

Wish there was multiplayer (online) to this, but it seems very polished, and ready to expand!

That's a 10 out of 10 from me! :thumbsup_tone4:

> 5 star but you know what I mean :joy_cat:

pestodesign 2019-10-20 12:15

@johnnysix good point, I feel the cannon a bit slow too! But we want to keep the trashboxes on the playfield, so they can not be shot out to space sadly. Did you aim high woth it btw? The AI is a bastard! :D

pestodesign 2019-10-20 12:17

@itsdanidre thank you! We sre glad you liked Trashwars so much! We are looking into porting this to mobile with local and online multiplayer too!

bungalow 2019-10-22 07:44

Awesome little game with adorable graphics, great animation and a cool concept. Incredible job!

pestodesign 2019-10-22 18:36

Thank you @bungalow !

envy-softworks 2019-10-26 18:29

Thank you for your trash!

pestodesign 2019-10-27 07:31

@envy-softworks Thanks for playing!
