This is pretty good. I love the art and smooth animations. I wouldn't want this game to go unnoticed so please go rate other games so that it gets attention!

charitosdev 2019-10-08 19:14

It is like a commercial game. Great great great work!

fcvalise 2019-10-08 23:12

Nice job :)

chad-cable 2019-10-08 23:15

Terrific artwork and flow! Getting and trading different types/colors of cards is a really interesting way to game-ify all of the actions and consequence.

nachtwitch 2019-10-08 23:17

Love the art and the game is wonderfully designed, very fun

sometimesghost 2019-10-09 00:06

Okay, this game is just great. The presentation is great, the mechanics of a choose-your-own-adventure where you have to conserve stamina and resources works really well. I'm definitely going to be playing this game to see more of the paths the story can take.

julien-kuhn 2019-10-09 00:16

It was very cool I liked it a lot

noahro 2019-10-09 00:38

Great card game with nice world building!

I noticed a bug though: If you spam click on a card, the card will be applied for every click (gain infinite resources, and generally breaks the game).

ojwk 2019-10-09 01:44

I loved the art in this game!

justcamh 2019-10-09 01:51

This was a lot of fun, and I will definitely be coming back to this one. I'm glad I got the chance to play!

celia14 2019-10-09 02:07

Beautiful style and art - the different symbols for the different resources were really cool, and the art in general was impressive. It was fun to play through and see what would happen, but it felt a little like I wasn't making any progress, just shifting resources around - I guess I needed a more defined strategy? But still entertaining to play and beautiful to look at.

andreas-roschal 2019-10-09 02:17

Great game! Very clean and smooth visual presentation. Game mechanics are very interesting. I like that the player is choosing his own path from nothing.

I noticed that you did opt out from all optional rating categories. Were there any particular reasons? Some card texts were really funny and I would have probably given a very high score in humor, as well as graphics.

peachtreeoath 2019-10-09 06:11

Agreed with above, I think the funniest part of this game is you can say no thanks in the beginning and the game just quits on you. I absolutely laughed aloud there.

The gameplay is super engaging and has a big exploration aspect to it. The large amount of choices and events give you the just-one-more-click feel because it was just fun to see all the different ways you can hone your resource counts. I feel like it's impossible to beat it on your first try because you don't have a sense of what cards to save up for, but then you lose and gain some experiences about what kinds of goals you want to reach next time, like 4 stamina for going on the mountain. So speaking of enlightenment it's almost like each time you play you're reincarnate with some knowledge of your past attempt and can do better this time. I'm probably looking too far into that intent but since I just played your game, it just sucked me into that whole world of sacrifice and enlightenment.

Seriously the presentation and polish is incredible. Are you guys pros? You guys may like the game I made this LD. It's a bit in the same vein in terms of decision-making and being system heavy. I actually built a similar mechanic where you gained resource tokens, juggled them, and prevented them from getting to 0. However, I nixed it because it was too confusing. That makes me appreciate your game even more because you pulled off what I couldn't. Also, did you have trouble balancing this game? I can't imagine what you could do other than just play it a ton.

toad 2019-10-09 07:01

Really beautiful and masterfully crafted game! The only possible criticism I can make is that the font was very hard to read at my resolution.

pedro-rosa 2019-10-09 07:51

Hi everyone thanks for the feedback. @andreas-roschal thanks i didn't noticed that at all, thanks a lot.

For some reason Graphics, Humor and Mood where turned off. @toad , @peachtreeoath,@celia14, @justcamh, @ojwk, @noahro, @julien-kuhn, @andreas-roschal, @sometimesghost, @nachtwitch, @chad-cable and @emiliabea

Can you please rank us on the other categories I am really sorry to bother you =(.

tohubohu 2019-10-09 08:04

This is excellent. The artwork is top-notch and if y'all did the music as well then it's perfect. If not, still a good choice! I did discover a bug though... you could click on a card multiple times and just load up your inventory. Granted, that kinda put me in a bad spot when I found the path to enlightenment, and ultimately I ended up losing, but I'd definitely play it again. Great job!

mindtricks 2019-10-09 08:05

The game is nice, but maybe there is a bug? The event card seems to go all the way to the left out of the screen so it's impossible to read what's happening

t-bo 2019-10-09 08:07

Great card game ! Good gameplay ! Beautiful graphics ! Amazing ! :v:

kanonix 2019-10-09 08:10

This is really impressive ! I was really into it until I eventually lost because I was mentally ill x) The ambiance is great, the art is beautiful and the gameplay is quite innovative. I loved it, great job !

ivananovakova 2019-10-09 08:13

Very relaxing with the music, good job!!

mikeorma 2019-10-09 08:18

Well, this was a great one. I liked it a lot. It could maybe help to the player if he had some hints of what's about to come, so there can be some preparing. Anyways, I really liked it and the art is wonderful, great job!

xakkar 2019-10-09 08:57

Cool card game) I liked the mechanics of receiving and replacing cards. We also made a card game in this Ludum Dare)

pedro-rosa 2019-10-09 09:56

Hi @emiliabea, thanks for being the 1st to give us feedback. hehe and yes we start a bit late on the rating activity =P. Thanks for your feedback

Hi @charitosdev thank you. You are really kind.

Hi @fcvalise, I am glad you like it.

Hi, @chad-cable thanks for your feedback. I am happy that you liked the artwork and the game flow.

Hi @nachtwitch, thanks :) I am pleased to know that you had some fun playing our game. That's the more important part.

Hi @sometimesghost, I am so happy to know that you are going to play more of our game. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @julien-kuhn, thanks for your feedback.

Hi @noahro, hehe that world-building is a bit silly XD. I am so happy you liked it. Thanks a lot for reporting that bug it is game-breaking.

Hi @ojwk, I am glad you like the art :)

Hi @justcamh, thanks for your kind words :) I am happy that you want to play more :)

Hi @celia14, Thanks for your feedback. I had that question as well, maybe the player will fill a bit lost in the middle of all events. I guess we need to give a clearer hint of what the player should be looking for.

Hi @andreas-roschal, thanks for the life saver feedback regarding the rankings. We didn't notice that at all. I glad you like the game.

Hi @peachtreeoath, thanks for the extensive feedback. About a quit game, I am glad you liked it XD. It seemed a good way of integrating a "quit game" button on the overall game esthetic. The game is technically possible to beat in the 1st time but it is practically impossible to beat at the 1st time XD. Since the game is about knowledge of the different paths and resources, it will be hard for someone to bit it in a 1st-time play. I love the interpretation you made. I am glad you like the presentation of the game.

Hi @toad, thanks for your feedback. Yes, I also had that concern about the font. Even though we try to use one font that seemed more middle eastern and with good readability but this was the best we found in the time we had.

Hi @tohubohu. I am glad you like the artwork and the game. Thanks a lot for the bug report.

Hi @mindtricks, hmm we will try to replicate that bug. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @t-bo, I am glad you like the game. Thanks for your kind words =).

Hi @kanonix, thanks for your feedback. I am happy you liked the game and the art :)

Hi @ivananovakova), Thanks for your feedback :)

Hi @mikeorma, thanks for your kind words. That is something we could think of no dought. I glad you liked the game.

Hi @xakkar thanks for your feedback. I will for sure review all the game of everyone that gave us feedback.

pixamentory 2019-10-09 11:26

Really the Graphics are Good!!

Provide some tips/hints ,so that user can understand ,what to proceed next!!

otherwise the game is good*-*

ekin 2019-10-09 17:55

Amazing game with amazing graphics! I really love the idea. it is totally about the theme. Thank you for this great game! good job! :)

drazhaar 2019-10-09 18:37

Well done! Very nice game and illustrations, I like this kind of story telling game. The music is great but a bit repetitive. There is a little bug if you double click on cards. But overall you can really be proud of this entry.

mattwagar 2019-10-09 19:21

This game is breathtaking! For a jam game, you practically made a fully releasable game you could ship. This game reminds me a lot of Cultist Simulator, but more streamlined and approachable. After playing it three times I understood what each of the resources did, and certain events I need to plan for. While a bit repetitive at the beginning, there was enough variation to make each play-through meaningful and different. Great job!

pedro-rosa 2019-10-09 19:31

Hi @mattwagar, I love Cultist Simulator :), I think it is a brilliant game and yes it is inspired in that game. You are the 1st one to point it out :) thanks a lot.

el-fideo-rubio 2019-10-09 19:37

the game it's awesome it feels very polish and the theme is on point great work guys

pestodesign 2019-10-09 19:59

I played like 6 runs in a row and coming back for more! Very nice atmosphere, I ma sitting at the balcony with my pipe and play game after game. The only criticism I can say, is that few times the jokes were braking engagement for me. Like the Biscuit temple and some other cards are somehow anachronistic, and feel a bit out of this world. I am not a spiritual person myself, but I like the vibe here very much, and those felt off a bit.

ausstein 2019-10-09 20:35

The game is really cool. I love the concept the athmosphere the artstyle and the audio. But for me it also was a little frustrating. I always die due to starvation. I choose all the options for starvation not to come up, but then it comes up as the next event anyway. I don't know if there is always a chance of starvation apearing and I'm just very unlucky or if it's bugged. I also try to collect food and enlightment to be able to beat starvation but then it comes up two or three times and I'm out of resources :(

gamesup-1st-year-promo 2019-10-09 22:04

Hey, really good game with solids mechanics, its really too bad to have this glitch of infinite resources !

reneantunes 2019-10-10 02:15

Love the mystery of the unexpected. Great art & music. Feels like a lot of love was put into this game.

fax 2019-10-10 14:04

Congratulations. Your game is very good.

annie-owl 2019-10-10 16:02

Very interesting card game, you've done a great job in terms of game design and overall graphic design. The visuals of this game are lovely and fit nicely to the overall thematic. I only wish there was a hover option, like in some other card games, because at first you don't know which color represents wich resource, and the only resource name that you see is the top one.

pedro-rosa 2019-10-10 16:49

Hi, @pixamentory I am glad you liked the graphics. I am a bit sceptical of giving a lot of direction to the play, I am afraid it will damage the exploration. But I see the need for a clear direction. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi, @ekin. I thanks for your kind words. I am happy that you liked the graphics.

Hi @drazhaar, I also think the music could be a bit less repetitive but that one was picked at the last minute. Thanks for the bug report, we are working on that.

Hi @el-fideo-rubio, Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @pestodesign, I am so happy you replayed the game 6 times :). Ok, I get what you are saying regarding the atmosphere and the jokes. I wanted to make something that was not too serious but I was also afraid what would break the environment. It is a serious concern that I have I am glad you point it out maybe we need to rethink some jokes. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @ausstein, Thanks for pointing that out maybe we need to balance a bit the starvation part. It is for a lot of persons the ending point of our game. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @gamesup-1st-year-promo, thanks for the bug report we are trying to solve that.

Hi @reneantunes, Thanks for your feedback. Yes, we tried to go our best on this game and we could only put half of the content we planed =p hehe.

Hi, @fax Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @annie-owl, yes the hovers hehe. We had that planned but we didn't have time. The truth is that we had a game-breaking at hours of the launch and all the time we had left was gone. The point is exactly what you said. The player needs to know that the resources have before he makes a choice. Thanks for your feedback.

yolziii 2019-10-10 19:38

Very m... holistic game! It's perfect in every category, great job! But, unfortunately, I didn't found any good end, always die ( Do you plan to continue working on it and publish this game anywhere?

tricky-fat-cat 2019-10-10 22:11

Incredible game, a little buggy, but gameplay and stories are very addictive. Well done.

shelvid 2019-10-10 22:33

This game was probably one that i played the longest out of all the games i tried so far, it was extremely engaging! Music and art is just absolutely top notch, reeeeeeally adds to the feel of the game. The game itself was as i said, extremely engaging, building a story and probably on every playthrough, you will get a different story, i definitely want to try beating this game some day as its extremely entertaining and relaxing, well done! Really love the smooth and simple animations as well, very splendid. I did die with this one weird bug where i ate and next thing i know it says i skipped a meal and died but i'll think of it as a special, exclusive story that i got hahah. Overall insanely great entry, definitely try to rate other peoples games, this game needs to be seen by more :)

matt-rix 2019-10-11 13:22

This is VERY good. The only thing that would make it better is if the game told you what each color dot on the card was when you rolled over them (same with the cards in your hand). Ideally each color dot should also have its own symbol to make them feel more unique and so that colorblind folks can tell them apart too.

psiv 2019-10-11 13:38

I agree with what @matt-rix says about the colours needing some kind of tooltip perhaps. For example, once I used up my food thinking it would be okay because I had gold to buy more food when I was starving, only to realise it wasn't gold it was charisma! Aside from that it is a fantastic game, and I will definitely be trying to finish it when I have more time, great job!

blizary 2019-10-11 15:01

@matt-rix Thank you very much for the tip we unfortunately totally forgot about that and you are totally right. about the cards we wanted to implemented something like a over above but we ran out of time defiantly doing it for a future update after the jam =D Thank you again for the tips

marcin-j 2019-10-11 17:30

Vector graphics style is great and I bet it was a nice produictivity boost :) Great card game, It's hard to believe how polished gameplay and graphics are for a jam game.

The font is a bit off, I'm not sure what I mean by it. I know you were going for the arabian/medieval/old timey font style but this one made the text harder to read from me. Part of it may come from odd scaling, in places it feels pixelated and oddly stretched. Below is what I mean, an an example of something much more readable. There should be a font out there somewhere that's clear like this, but in the style you wanted.

Edit: the screenshot is a bit zoomed in, the game is less pixelated on my screen obviously :D

ahistyap 2019-10-12 10:30

Wow, there are a lot of paths to discover! Kudos to the developers!

cyrolis 2019-10-12 12:14

Omg this is reaaaally nice, well done ! I can't say anything it is perfectly achieve ! Add achievements and publish that on pC and mobile x)

p-r 2019-10-12 12:59

Beautiful

onury 2019-10-12 16:42

Nice game

bilalch213 2019-10-12 19:29

This is really well done and a highly polished game! The art style is superb! The arabian style music complemented the game so nicely. Fantastic Entry!

solah 2019-10-12 21:03

Wow, this is my favourite game for LD45 so far. The mood and graphics are amazing. Could not manage to have a good ending for now, but I'll sure retry later. Fantastic job!

ferdi 2019-10-13 08:56

Great graphics this entry is so polished. I loved everything about this entry and played for a very long time. I couldn't win tho so might go back to it again :). Amazing job guys ! Congrats and p^lease do more like this !! ps: Font is a little hard to read.

space-nomad 2019-10-13 09:17

one of the best entries i've seen so far. absolutely love the vector art, the mood, and had tons of fun playing!

vincentvincent 2019-10-13 12:27

Totally loved the game's atmosphere. The graphics and music are so nice really like that one!

dodelov 2019-10-13 15:13

An interesting interpretation of text quests! Visual minimalism is precarsely combined with the history and stylistics of the East!

sharbelfs 2019-10-13 15:15

Really nice game, it reminds me a lot Underhand but with a different mood. very well done, and the music matches very well with the game, for me one nice touch would be about the name of the cards, I know the colors but the name is in the center, so, when you have a lot of cards it becomes difficult to see what is each card that I have

pedro-rosa 2019-10-13 15:39

Hi @yolziii, I am glad you liked it. At this point, we are just seen how the jam goes and then we will decide. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @artyom-volkov, we are going to lunch a 1.1 version with all the major bugs fixed in the next days. Thanks for your feedback :)

Hi @shelvid, I am so glad you played a lot our game :) We are going to make the game a bit easier so people can explore more of the world. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @matt-rix, We are going to do that it makes a lot of sense. Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Hi @psiv, thanks for your feedback.

Hi @marcin-j, You are completely right on your feedback. we are studying a new font, the difficult part is to balance a font with readability and the Arabic feel. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @ahistyap, I am glad you liked it :)

Hi @cyrolis, we are going to think about that. Thanks :)

Hi @p-r I glad you like the graphics.

Hi @ahistyap, I am glad you liked our game.

Hi @bilalch213, Thanks for your kind words.

Hi @solah, I am glad you liked it :) Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @ferdi, Thanks for your feedback. We are already testing a new font :)

Hi @space-nomad, Thanks for your kind words, I really glad you like our game.

Hi @vincentvincent, Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @dodelov, I glad you liked the art style. Thanks :)

Hi @sharbelfs, you are completely right it is base on the concepts of underhand. I always thought that game style could be applied to a different environment =). Thanks for your feedback.

cybersoftuk 2019-10-13 17:13

Wow! This game is very polished, the artwork and the animations are fantastic, the music is spot on too, creates a great mood, the game is really fun to play. I would like to be able to see what cards i have (stamina, enlightenment etc..) by hovering over them as you have to keep opening the book when weighing up the best step to take. (I kinda want to see inside the biscuit temple!)

Great Solid Entry - Well Done!

themista92 2019-10-13 18:02

Very interesting concept for a cardgame. I love the fact that the "menu" is not just a collection of buttons but you have that "story" of meeting this guy. The game overall seems very polished with some minor issues. In general very enjoyable and a super good job in that short amount of time!

nickzangus 2019-10-13 18:37

One of the best so far. Amazing game!

sam-dower 2019-10-13 18:56

Really liked the card game approach, great work mate.

lars-erik 2019-10-13 19:20

First game I've left three 5's for. Amazing feat to build this in the time given. Love the mechanics. I starve too much, so maybe some balancing is in order.

Given <3 though, I'd buy this on steam in a jiffy. 😁👍

amerigo-gazaway 2019-10-14 05:56

Awesome card game interface/mechanics, story and graphics! Would have liked to have heard some card shuffling sfx and some original music as well. If you ever need any for future projects let me know :)

noobdev 2019-10-14 13:44

The art style is really impressive and the music is beautiful. The idea of telling a story through a set of cards is very creative and unique from rest of the games I have played so far. Its an interesting mechanics and a bit more polishing and adding more content can easily make this game a successful game. Nice work both you!!

rebtf 2019-10-14 23:29

Incredibly well done game. Really engaging, appropriate difficulty, lovely theme.

I feel like it could have been a bit more directed, like I wasn't really sure what I was trying to do. Of course that could be a design decision as well because it did add to the mysticism of it all.

I also found the coloured circles a bit hard to connect to the resource. I eventual equated the colour to the resource but perhaps an icon or even the lovely art on the card could go in the little circle to make it easier to parse.

There's a bug where you click on the card multiple times and keep getting the reward for every click.

Very well polished, lovely animations, great card art. Just a lovely game all around.

hcursino 2019-10-15 18:21

I love it! Even though I cannot beat it no matter what... what the hell one last try! Such a cool game!

euler-moises 2019-10-16 02:47

Very interesting game! It reminds me of "Reigns" where your choices move you through history. I found the art beautiful! The music is good. It would be interesting if it changed as decisions were made. The link with the theme was very clear and I thought the game is well polished. The only thing I didn't like was the font used in the letters. The idea of keeping this letter with oriental features is interesting, but it is difficult to read.

Vocês são brasileiros?

Congratulations one more time!

This is our game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/soundscapes

blizary 2019-10-17 10:54

@euler-moises thank very much for all the sugestions! the font is something we strugle with aloot unfortunatly its realy hard to find a good balance between keeping it in the theme and making it easy to read. The game was indeid inspired by games like Reigns but the biggest inspiration was Cultist simulator.

E nao exactamente somos portugues mas vai dar ao mesmo certo? =P

realitycheck 2019-10-18 00:11

Man, I love this game!

The art and the presentation is top notch for a game jam - color me impressed. I really enjoyed the gameplay and the choices seemed surprisingly well balanced for coming up with the idea on such short time.

The only thing I encountered that was a real problem is that I had the Starvation event a couple of times, and although my only option was to "Lose the game", the game continued on as if nothing. I eventually lost the game to exhaustion instead. Also, more events and cards would be fun - some of them seemed to repeat quite often.

I spent quite some time on this, and I was unable to beat it. Don't really know what I'm trying to achieve, but I think that is part of the fun with the experience. I've downloaded it and will be playing again (and again), until I beat it.

Fabulous work - this was right up my alley.

mrerdalural 2019-10-18 13:21

I really loved the way you generate a story using the gameplay mechanics! Great game! Thank you for making it. It was really inspiring!

pedro-rosa 2019-10-18 15:11

Hi @cybersoftuk, I am glad you like our game. Regarding the over it's a very request feature and we are studying the best way to implement that. On a future version, we will make an illustration where you can see inside the biscuit temple =P. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @themista92, I glad you like our game. We tried to have a menu that is well integrated with the game narrative :) Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @nickzangus, Thanks for your feedback.

Hi @sam-dower, thanks a lot for your comment.

Hi @lars-erik, Thanks a lot man :). I am so glad you liked our game. For sure the game needs some balancing. Thanks for your support.

Hi @amerigo-gazaway, thanks for your feedback. We wanted to make some SFX but in the end, we didn't have time.

Hi @noobdev, you are really kind :) I am glad you liked our game. Thanks for your support.

Hi @rebtf, I am glad you like the game. Regading the lack of information it was a design decision, so the player have a real sense of lost. But I also think there sould be a clear direction because the player dosent know what he should be looking for. Regarding the coloured circles I complitly agree with you a symble could be a good way to solve that problem. Thanks for your feedback.

pedro-rosa 2019-10-18 15:16

Hi @realitycheck, I am glad you liked the game. Thanks a lot for the bug report. I also think we need to put some roles to stop event repetition. Thanks a lot for your feedback :).

Hi @mrerdalural Thanks for your feedback

dane-tesla 2019-10-19 21:33

It's AMAZING. Literally one of the best games from Ludum Dare 45. The atmosphere, gameplay, art, it's all really immersive and I spent good half on hour playing it and exploring the options. One thing that could be made better is that the font used for the game is really not fitting to the theme and kinda hard to read but it's just a minor thingie that do not really affect the gameplay that much. Great work!

asfdfdfd 2019-10-20 20:41

Great artwork and slick animations. Cool game!

exilegl 2019-10-24 16:19

The music is nice and fits well with the art style. UI is clear and flows pretty well, especially with the animations. I like the system of balance based upon your cards, rather than just numbers or something for resources. The large amount of content/options and how it all works together well is cool too.

rosypenguin 2019-10-25 05:42

Really wonderfully polished game that was engaging and unique.

I played through three times before ultimately dying in each session. I loved the choices and having to balance different resources. I found some paths but many times I just didn't have the right resources, since it's hard to know which resources I will need for which random path that comes up. I ended up building a lot of Enlightenment, which I felt was a really useful resource to have, but that game I kept getting the same few events over and over which depleted my food and stamina, forcing me to use up my enlightenment. Then when I got a path that required enlightenment, I had none to give :(. I think some of the random events can show up less often if you have encountered them before (for example, the mountain with the guy who gives a riddle... I don't need to see that twice).

Finally, I found it frustrating to have to open to rulebook to see what resources I have. The cards could contain the names on the sides, or allow you to scroll over to read them.

This is a fantastic game! The visual style is a very welcome break from pixel art, not that I have anything against it, I also use it, but I love this vector style. The music and story were great at building atmosphere, and I found the game to be extremely fun. Reminds me of Cultist Simulator, which is great. Amazing work!
