Absolutely incredible. Polish it a bit and sell it, this mechanics are absolutely amazingly simple. I'd play this both mobile and tabletop no doubt.
The arcadeness is off the charts. I can see this being in an arcade machine in the 80s easily. The art is so clean and fitting. Great polish. Congrats!
Nice game! neat mechanics and all the music and sfx feels very good. The art looks a bit too "all over the place", and I dont necessarily mean it's too simple, more of there not beign an art direction and colors being kidna random. The other thing is that the levels feel the same and you can always do the same strategy (in ym case i found projectile speed to be quite useless). Great concept otherwise!
Love it! it does work incredibly well! And the balance between doing good and doing bad seems quite good! You really are "tempted" to go into the awful businessman mindset and just run with it. The "day" thing breaks the feel of the idle game, i would prefer it if it was just infinite and never stopped for your input. maybe workers could go sleep in some houses and their sleep/work ratios and hosuing qualities could come into the equation. I feel like with some polish you could have a papers-please political feel to it where there are some events and morality truly matters. Loved it!
This is very very high quality! Love the amount of personality the character art conveys. The "same cutscene but with missing characters" thing only works well the first time. The radio distorted music fits really well too. I'm not big on VN so i find it hard to know hwy it didnt grab me a lot and I was skipping a bit of text even though ti all seemed great, but maybe its a bit too predictable for such a text-based thing, like your eliterally choosing what will happen and the structure of the game is a bit too evident. Incredible game!
@raphael-maia I was kinda going with the "figuring out the rules is sorta part of the game" thing, but if you feel like an explanation would make you enjoy the game more, I can give it :) Thanks for playing!
@raphael-maia oh thanks! I added some slight instructions to the itch page. If I wanna go mobile I have to rewrite cause I dont have android export for GMS2, but I might. There are so many mechanics I didnt manage to get in.
@raphael-maia Sure I will! Had no time to play any games yet.
@secretpocketcat thats a record as far as I know! Thanks a lot for the great feedback. Yeah, the mechanics changed so much along the jam that ended up being a bit too obscure without me noticing. Also the whole friendship and hapinness system I wanted to make and couldnt fit at all, so friendships do nothing.
The mouse thing is a bit odd but once you know how to do it is pretty reliable, I really wanted to have that "killing them yourself" feel even if its a bit weird of an input system. Definitely would work better on touchscreen.
Glad you liked it! :D
Incredibly aesthetically complete! Controls is the only weak link in an amazing videogame. Congrats!
Really cool! Love the graphics and how polished it looks even thought its quite simple. The sheep movement and behavior feels very organic. Some more tools to manage the sheep, feed them... and you have an amazing clicker/relaxing game.
Love graphics and audio! The mechanics are great, but it does have that issue where things seem to become more complex, not more complicated or itneresting. The puzzle system is amazing tho, and with some time this is a 10/10 mobile game, The mood is so good with just the music and a few icons. Congrats!
God the art is off the charts, especially the title screen! The game itself might be a bit too not original, but I did have fun. Congrats!
The base is real good! I just want some polish or theming and some more mechanics that really emphasize the sacrificing part. You dont' really benefit from the deaths in any way so are they really a sacrifice? Very clean base of a grid-based puzzle, I always love those. You gotta polish the art and find deeper theme and mechanics to be truly memorable.
Amazing art, great concept. maybe just missing a bit of clear meaning on who youre saving and who youre not so youre making more interesting decisions but overall a super polished super great entry. Amazing job!
The concept is suepr clean! The smallt argets and cazy mouse sensitivity are killing me tho. Once the wackyness was too hugh (climb by punching tabels withotu touching ground) I gave up. All the visuals are super fun and the audio is very charming too. The pixels in 3D make everything look suepr consistent.
Really liked the music and the effort in all the visuals! it crashed on me first when my only guy died but then played again and broke the game for basically infinite score so the balancing might be off but the game is fun and cool!
Music and visuals are super lovely! I would like a way to trigger the sheep early and the home and restart buttons stopped working after a bit. A bit too punishing to restart the whole level and wait again if you make a small positioning mistake. I personally would rpefer the game more puzzle-y and without the time limit but that's a bit of personal taste :) Very cool game! The attention to detail with the visuals is super nice.
Art is amazing and writing is really really nice, gameplay feels a bit purposeless and repetitive and I was confused at first that I had to pickup the pizzas. Also the way to fidn both the palce you need to deliver and going abck to the pizza place are a bit clunky. But damn the graphical work is jsut incredible and I really like the characters and whole vibe.
Very interesting! Artstyle si super cute and nice, and the gameplay is wonky in a very endearing way, with you writing a nonsense letter. Made me worry she would not like it but na, alls good, which is really cute. Incredible artistic job!
Wow this game is so nice! I just dont understand what ot do when the harvested crops. Should I be able to sell them somehow? The aesthetics are top notch, the control scheme very interesting, and the music real catchy. This could be a big game with a bit more depth :D
Really cool! Interesing mechanics. I'm not sure I like the way you can't completely control the force, and it would be really nice to have some sort of indicator for direction and bounces, if you wanted to make this into a bigger game. I got stuck for quite some time in level 3 but finally managed to stop bonking on corners. Really like it! Music truly would have been great! Also the detail fo the ball being a guinea pig is priceless. Art works great but could be more stylistic, like have a more cohesive palette and such. Great game!
Simple but extremely effective! Love the art! Hurts a bit on the eyes when it gets fast, is it maybe not 60FPS? Also when I "won" I got a lose screen before the win screen, don't know if that's intended. really really clean design, you just would want the great art and story to have some more depth of gameplay somehow. Love it!
I just managed to move players in a sin pattern and make the ball move, but I'm completely amazed by this. It's a shame that the accessibility is so low, maybe there could be made a simpler game with similar mechanics where you use signal inputs to solve puzzles, as an introduction for peeps like me (I think one LD had a game similar to that). Love it! I'd love to learn VCV rack, seems so powerful, is it suposed to produce sounds somehow? XD
@unless-games Well, I'm leaning now. Thanks for being the entry point to these stuff, it's all really cool and elegant. Maybe I'll learn enough to use it to make SFX for games :D
Soooooo elegant. Sooo smart. Almost Stanley Parable level of style and comedy here. The music ties everything together so dang well. This is the stuff game jams are about and I could never do. Such good metacomentary. Kudos.
Really really good! Almost uncriticable, maybe some more art and color would have worked well, maybe not. I had os much fun. making a mistake maybe too punishing because it becomes boring, maybe it should not decrease the speed completely. The interpretation of the theme is genious and the story is really great while being predictable(which is iportant for gameplay purposes, almost). Nice game!
Yeah, amazing aesthetics, the difficulty spiked too hard, and I was following the visuals more that feeling the rythm, which is always bad in a rythm game. The art is outstanding. If the music was easier to follow and the difficulty smoother this would be a lot more amazing than it already is.
@tipyx I really toyed with that idea but I felt like it kinda broke the soul of the game. I ran into so much design problems, this final iteration is the best I could manage. I had more health at some point, but for me the game is so ridiculously easy RN (didnt have time to add more itneresting enemies that would justify having more HP) that I ended up just making it very punishing. Thanks for following! I love that some people already recognize ma name :D
@noa-calice Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the comment about soundtrack, it's the first time I tried to make music myself toying with Bosca Ceoil and actually something decent came from it. Thanks for the praise! The game feels so non-difficult to me after having played it so much, maybe I put the bar too high in the end. Once you get used to it it should feel really easy, I just hope people won't stop playign after the first death.
@alen-loeb The thing is, there are no levels, just 2 that are always the same to teach mechanics and from then its random,so it's pretty much a survival. Maybe I should have made the two first levels into a one time tutorial somehow, but I wanted to keep everything clean. Thanks for playing!
@mza I find it too easy, that's why I'm surprised most people are feeling one hit KO is too punishing. When enemies try to go to the same spot, they go by priority and there shouldn't be any trouble, if you got killed you either missed that another enemy was attacking you, you clicked the suicide button top-right, or it was a bug (quite likely). The levels are already procedurally generated a bit, beginning at lvl 3 there are 3 templates for the floor and the enemies position and types are random. I like the idea but it has so much design issues it has left me a bit frustrated, I don't think I'll keep working on it.
@mza Game Maker 2. It's great! Design issues I meant thinking of the mechanics and how to limit your options in a Roguelike and make it not frustrating and such, I don't mean that I had trouble coding anything. The final concept is not as elegant as I thought it would be.
@noxbuds Super glad you like it! The thing I worried most was about it not being engaging enough! Yeah, didn't have time for Sfx, wanted to. Thanks for playing!
@joqlepecheur Oh I'm sure I'll do some very similar projects and use what I learnt from this, just won't keep adding stuff to this one. A card game has always been on my radar, roguelikes are great, and Slay the Spire lights the way.
Nums (1,2,3) to select cards is already in the game :) Yeah I didn't have time for SFX. Super glad you like it!
@Nyunesu yeah I didn't get all content I wanted in cause I sent so much time toying with the mechanics. I kept the cards "try to see" to artificially lengthen game time in a kinda dirty way. Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it!
@wan Thanks for all the useful advice! Yeah I got super excited with the idea at first but it was a pain to make it not completely horrible, I ended in so much design cul-de-sacs and had so much iterations that cannot be seen in the final product. SFX I wanted to add, but didn't have time, and I'm awful with SFX. This jam I managed to do music, which I never did before, maybe next one I'll deal with more SFX... it's a pending task for me to get used to it.
I'll look into hoplite. Seems like its in line with what I'd do if i wanted to improve this, which is to steal more stuff from Into the breach: ranged and areas, making position super relevant by making pushing an option, and making the enemies do more interesting stuff that you have to respond to.
You're always such a powerhouse in game design and analysis! I'm glad you played this and found it interesting.
@rs11s21n That's what a jam does to you :) Sorry I couldn't have more content, I'll take your hunger for more as a great compliment! :D
@nathalia-hohl Thanks a lot for all the praise! Maybe I'll really need to expand on it or start it anew and bigger... I'm starting to accumulate projects like that.
I got frustrated with this one, because as you have seen, there are some design problems with the cards and stuff. I tried to take inspiration from slay the spire, but in that game they manage to avoid making you do pointless stuff and enemies are always a threat. I'll need to rethink a bit.
Thanks a lot! Be sure to follow me on itch in case I do release some thigns you might like :)
@secretpocketcat @fivecyclops sorry T.T I just put the button there in the last second because there is the slim change of getting completely stuck (having three move cards and no available tile to move to). Glad you liked it! I'll try sometime soon to make a really similar game avoiding the design issues this one had (im sure you noticed frustrating and bothersome moments due to the way your options are limited). I wanted to have rooms inbetween combat where you would add cards and trash cards in a fire, but I didn't have time. Make sure you follow me on itch! :D
@slovnoslomo Yeah I was thinking of ways to not let you "do nothing" that much, like a mage that targets you from afar with a spell and forces you to move and such... But didn't manage to get much content in. Also animation is hard :D My artsyle, I work with what I have, I love that you like it. Im trying to work the concept into a party-based RPG, making moving not a card. If you wanna be informed if I get anything done give me the follow on itch! :)
What the hell I just played. Artistically top notch, and really good in the abstract weird creepy department. I dont even feel like Im qualified to rate this.
Whoa, this game is amazing and so well polished. And the idea works super-great. Maybe levels are a bit too repetitive and feel like just get more complex. It's the only bad thing I can say. Music amazing, Art amazing, idea so elegant. Great game!
Love the aesthetic and the idea of going really deep, almost meta, with the text adventure mechanics to move around an environment. I didn't know what my goal was, or if there was one, and I just moved randomly until my character fell. Is there a game to be played or is that it, a showcase of some itneresting mechanics? I really like the mood and the art, music would help a lot.
This game is outstanding. it does so much with so little, I was having hones simple fin so quickly. the music is greeeeat. If you add some difficulty settings, maybe even levels or modes, you got yourself a hit in the appstore. its the kind of game you could be playing for hours in the underground or bus to try to unlock the next thing or get the high score. Super well done! I always love giving great art scores to games that do minimalistic art perfectly :D
