LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Whistling Farmer by juaxix 2015-04-21T12:21:00

Interesting idea. The game need more work, right now it is very repetitive, every level spawns exactly the same amount of enemies. They can attack you during the cutscenes which is kind of unfair but then the game is so easy that this does not even matter. Aiming feels weird, often the player shoots in the wrong direction and you can't directly control it. The camera also sometimes points in the wrong direction or moves inside objects creating a mess of polygons on the screen.
I liked the character models, and the intro. It would be nice to have some kind of music during the game, too, but the most important thing right now is some kind of difficulty curve and some more variety. Either that, or make the game shorter. Playing the same level over and over again is not very rewarding.

Whistling Farmer by juaxix 2015-04-23T12:45:00

juaxix: Sorry if my comment sounded harsh. I realize it can hurt to have someone point out the flaws in your creation. I liked your game, especially the intro part and the character models. The rest is constructive criticism, and I'm not treating your game any different than the others.
I know there isn't a lot of time, and my game isn't great either but I see it as a learning experience. Instead of taking criticism as an insult and blocking off good advice you could grow as a game developer by learning from your mistakes. Next time you won't have more time either, but you are not going to say "I won't make a good game because 72h is not enough" right at the start, are you?

quote: "in the player forward direction, once you start shooting, you have to notice that the rotation of the player is locked, that is done to improve the players experience and give them a reason to not shoot all the time."
There are several good designs to keep the player from shooting all the time, e.g. limited ammo, recharge time, having to recharge the weapon at a specific point, bonus points for hitting multiple enemies without missing, etc.
Locking the player direction, in my humble opinion, is a bad idea. When I played the game, it felt like a bug to me and annoyed me a little bit.

Eye Rush by asobi tech 2015-04-22T08:59:00

This game is great! Kind of minimalistic, but fun and challenging at the same time. The chain mechanic is interesting, it would be nice to have some kind of indicator, a bar maybe, to indicate when and why the chain is breaking.

Truly magical cat by Yozz 2015-04-21T00:44:00

Nice graphics, music and overall atmosphere. The gameplay is a bit on the weak side with the mechanics feeling awkward, but at least it's possible to play from start to finish. I don't see how it fits the "unconventional weapon" theme, but maybe I'm missing something.

War of Ideas by jackyjjc 2015-04-23T12:06:00

Selecting Peaceful/Normal/Violent doesn't do anything for me, I always have the same actions.
The descriptions are misleading, maybe on purpose? What really counts is how much resistance an action generates because you can't really lose resistance, at least as far as I know. As soon as you figure that out, the game gets kind of boring because all you do is select safe bets like "Word of Mouth" or "Publish Books" and wait until you get 100% followers.
Overall an interesting game. Seeing the world map I immediately thought of a Risk type of game, but I was pleasently surprised to see a fresh idea.

Viral Mutation Manipulation Simulation by HuvaaKoodia 2015-04-25T09:14:00

The game was a little too complex for me. It is fun watching the drones carry blocks around nonetheless. I read the instructions carefully, but still the experimentation and mixing parts were completely random to me, so I just played around a little using a trial and error approach. I guess there is a way to get that virus, but I didn't find it.

100 Dollars Unicorns by td2tl 2015-04-21T12:33:00

I like the gameplay mechanics. It takes some time figuring out the best way to land a unicorn. The game is hard, but not unforgiving. Without the instructions I probably would never have figured it out.

Hitchhiker's Tales by Tangible Games 2015-04-22T08:42:00

I like the colorful low-res graphics. The controls are accurate and it's fun to play. Throwing mechanics could be improveda bit, when I'm throwing while I'm falling downward the object is just smashed into the ground.
Maybe I just suck at this game, but it seems almost impossible to beat. On my best tries I still have ~30 aliens left when I run out of stuff to throw.

Sky Sword by Yword 2015-04-26T20:35:00

Great effects, I like the dust particles, parallax scrolling, laser and explosions.
The game design is weird... falling off your sword accidentally is usually a death sentence. Then there is one sequence where you are forced to leave the sword behind, but it doesn't reappear at the next checkpoint so you have to kill yourself. I was able to complete the game, but I think it needs some more details added. Still a great achievement considering the short time it was made in.

Echoes of the Forest by Midnight Creators 2015-04-24T06:57:00

The artworks for the intro are beautiful and the music is great as well. The game could use some refinement, currently it's very short, but it already builds an atmosphere.
I would suggest splitting the forest background/foreground into multiple parallax scrolling layers as that would make for a nice effect. More than one level would be nice, this could also be used to develop the story more.
Overall great game, I hope you continue working on it.

The Hoverboard Convention by HelixFox 2015-04-21T11:58:00

Nice graphics and accurate controls. I don't get any score when killing enemies with my primary weapon (fireball). The later levels are just bullet hell which can be a good thing if you are into that. For me it would be better if the game started a little slower, I keep running into hordes of enemies very early in the game.

Inkling by Pixel_Reaper 2015-04-23T14:15:00

I suck at this game. My strategy so far, never use the left mouse button as it costs too much health to move around. The only downside is that you have to wait for 10 seconds until the first enemies arrive.
The right mouse button opens a context menu on the web player, which is kind of annoying - would be cool if you could fix this in case you make an improved version.

You Can Shave the Baby by chikun Dev Team 2015-04-25T11:26:00

Very entertaining. I liked the graphics - while they might not be great they have a consistent style.
I didn't manage to beat the microgame with the guy jumping off the cliff.

Super Boulder Bouncer by BermudaCake 2015-04-23T09:39:00

This game does not have a gameover state, so you have to refresh the page to restart. Other than that, it's nice. Having only basic geometric shapes (cube, capsule, ball) instead of actual models doesn't bother me at all, the game works just as well.

Can You Reach the Sun? by Garris 2015-04-25T09:39:00

This feels like a complete game, almost like it was done in more than 48 hours, congratulations to that!
You have to completely start over when you get hurt. Then you have a hard time hitting those enemies with your kite, which makes the game a little frustrating for me. Save points would have been nice.

Where Is Your Gun Now, Mr. Chekhov? by Mike Mezhenin 2015-04-28T22:06:00

This game has great atmosphere, I liked the old film sepia tone and grain. The hints are sometimes very obscure, but after some time I got better and survived 3 assasination attempts in a row!

Mecha Cop 2875 by Tuism 2015-04-23T13:22:00

The controls remind me of an old DOS game called 'Abuse'. For a Ludum Dare game this has a lot of content, including 3 different mechs and some nice special effects.
It felt a bit weird having my mech destroyed after being hit ~5 times. It makes some sense because it makes the game more challenging but I was expecting the mechs to be more powerful just because they look like it.

Flail Rider by jushii 2015-04-26T20:48:00

Very easy to get killed, even if I drive very slowly into a house it still breaks my car.
The game is incredible though, I love the style and it's very much fun destroying everything in your sight.

Best Friends Must Fight by brombatti 2015-04-22T08:29:00

Well done, I think it would be a fun game if I had someone to play with. I was blown away by the amount of content in this game, 5 different weapons and even different characters! Also a nice touch that you can walk out of the room.
Some weapons are better than others and it seems the coffee gun(?) is by far the most powerful one.

5 Days with Tiffany by goblin 2015-04-23T11:49:00

I had a good time with the story sequence. The game mechanics could be improved, sometimes the guards are not displayed angry but still catch you. Also, it would be good to have more responsive controls and diagonal movement. Were there any plans to turn the Pachinko universe into a separate minigame? It seems I can't really control anything on the right side of the screen.

Tic-Tac-Blow by Bardikus 2015-04-22T09:16:00

Please no installer!
It's an innovative idea. I don't like the way the platforming is implemented. It is way too hard to get from bottom to top. By the time you reach the tile you need, the bombs are already exploding.
A first step would be to replace the double jump by a single high jump and make one way platforms.

One Man Band by Curial 2015-04-22T09:56:00

It's a shame you didn't have time to make audio for this game. You didn't make it easy for yourself, but surprisingly the pedestrian AI works well enough so they can actually reach your hat without getting stuck on the way. Congratulations to that!
One last thing, if there is a time limit, you should really make the timer count down to zero instead of counting up.

Unconventional Cowfare by uber 2015-04-21T12:56:00

Funny game. Nice of you that you took the time to even make a little tutorial. The cow AI works really well, it is a lot of fun to herd them around using the drones.
It seems the levels don't really get harder over time. When I have 100% destruction level but still got drones, the game doesn't let me play the next level until I use up those drones. I'm not entirely sure but it seems I got 100% in one level with some people still alive.

Pebble's Bakery by simon.parzer 2015-04-22T09:49:00

Tuism: Unfortunately the game never ends, we ran out of time on the last day. But I totally agree, the days should be different and there should be some kind of showdown on Saturday, would improve the game a lot.
Thanks for the kind words so far.

Baguette Jousting by MegaPonies 2015-04-24T18:39:00

I like the wacky idea. I mean, a jousting duel with baguettes for weapons on bicycles, that's something!
I wonder how this game would look with 2D graphics, the current 3D ones work ok on a big screen, but not really suitable for mobile platforms.
It would be funny if you could grab more than one baguette if your opponents are too slow :)

Insult Duelling by natalye 2015-04-22T09:33:00

Sorry I didn't have the patience to learn all the insults from the machine. I thought I could skip that part by opening the menu. When I pressed 'M' I couldn't get out of it and the only options were "New Game" and "Exit Game" so I lost all my progress...
As someone who has played Monkey Island a lot I found the game too close to the original, it feels like an exact copy.

Skyku by kabutakogames 2015-04-22T22:12:00

This is interesting in a way, and haikus for sure are an unconventional weapon.
The game is more fun than it should be. All you can do is fly around in a sort of overworld space mode, and fight on different planets. The fight itself is not really a challenge. I wonder why there are no 5 syllable phrases though - I was hoping to make a perfect Haiku, but the game won't let me. Not even the shop has them, and why would I buy a one syllable phrase for $100?
It also took me a while to find out that I have to click on my ship to submit the haiku. I guess the game could do that automatically, as there is nothing meaningful I can do after all 3 lines are filled.

Coloring World by SowiHowl 2015-04-22T09:45:00

Music and Sound volume at zero by default? Some people are going to miss that.
I like the game, it should have more levels. The spikes in the last level have a frustrating collision mask, makes you think you die before even touching them.

Adaptation by Grahhhhh 2015-04-26T13:07:00

Putting the jam version on Kongregate, that's brave.

Celebrity Fart by lucien 2015-04-23T11:37:00

I don't find it funny, but the game itself has potential. Sadly you can't really lose, there is no punishment for letting enemies through except for missing out on score which in itself is just a meaningless number. So yeah, design is lacking but it would be easy to improve it to a point where it's actually fun to play.
Another thing that really bothered me was the low contrast on the text. You see, dark background requires light text color and vice versa, otherwise you have a hard time reading it. On the main menu you have your fire effect that you can use to highlight the text, but there is no excuse for the "Score" and "Enemies" text - dark text on dark backdrop.

Lure by Ludomade 2015-04-24T10:34:00

Beautiful graphics, and I like the ambient soundtrack, too. I didn't find the super light fish :|
What would be cool, bonus points when you catch more than one fish at once. Currently 1 fish - 100 points, 3 fish - 300 points.
One time I got killed by an evil fish and entered a loop where at the respawn point I was immediately killed again.

Aliens! I need your D.N.A. by DNAteamld32 2015-04-23T09:56:00

What's the lose condition for this game? I play for a while and there is no health bar or anything and suddenly it says "Biological cleanse not achieved" and I have to start over.
Anyway, I like the graphics and concept. It's crazy how many different aliens and weapons you made in that short amound of time.

The Mighty Writer. by Miltage 2015-04-25T09:23:00

This is a great concept! It was fun until the point I tried to get creative and the game ignored all my cool commands. I tried to invent better weapons, bring other soldiers into the game, have one of the soldiers turn off the music, etc. There are thousands of commands you could implement, but I guess not in 48 hours :)

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Molly's Dreaming by flyingbear 2015-12-15T00:32:00

I love how the dog gets longer and longer, it's a great take on the Snake mechanics and what a way to fit the "growing" theme!

Barter: the Game by crhallberg 2015-12-16T17:04:00

Interesting concept using twitter as a gaming platform. However, not everybody has a twitter account or is willing to make one just to play the game, so a method of playing for such players would be nice.

STALKer by Hegemege 2015-12-18T17:15:00

This is a nice game, the music fits the general mood and atmosphere. The controls however are kind of unresponsive and it is a little too slow for my taste. In 10 minutes of playing I couldn't get a single water drop and they change positions too often.

Lawnmower Puzzle by Zathnic 2015-12-15T22:33:00

The controls are kind of unintuitive. I can see how the game is supposed to work, but it was almost impossible for me to get anywhere, even after reading the lengthy description and the in-game hints. I always end up pressing the R button at the wrong moments. Effectively, the lawnmower doesn't ever go where I want it to go which gives me a feeling of not being in control.
Buying the speed upgrade at the beginning didn't help very much either, it makes navigating the thing even harder.

Button Sniper by BubuIIC 2015-12-15T23:33:00

Two button game.. I see what you did there :)
The game is fun and also short.

Director Morse by tompudding 2015-12-18T10:53:00

The idea of this sounds interesting. I didn't actually get my robot to move because the input system is, as has been adressed before, unforgiving. The conveyed story and mood are great.

Coalesce by alyphen 2015-12-23T09:45:00

Had the same problem with matchmaking. I'll try it again later

99 Steps by George 2015-12-21T22:04:00

Amazing. Classic "why didnt I think of that" thing. So much potential for your android app as well (backgrounds/themes/players, competitive scoring, complementary handcrafted levels, additional obstacles/falling onto platforms/multiple routes...). My only critique for this compo would be that you dont explicitly use the time as a score when finishing which is very easy if you play slowly. You could have e.g. made it so that platforms behind you start falling down. Congrats and nice hat

THE GARDENER by echa 2015-12-16T20:13:00

Amazing concept. I love the procedural plant growth.
This game would rock even more if it had actual graphics instead of just colored blocks. Right now it feels like a rough prototype, but a very good one.

Tamagotchi Hell by Troyan 2015-12-20T11:58:00

A bit repetitive, the second minigame can get tedious pretty fast due to spawning mechanism (too random, good item every 5 steps/some deterministic lanes/maybe different speeds etc could help). Definately missing poop & cleanup

Colony 3028 by klianc09 2015-12-18T01:44:00

Nice RTS game, considering the time limit of 72 hours I'd say it's an achievement.
The music feels like it repeats every 3 seconds. The game is too hard I think, or I missed something.

Subject Is Compliant, Subject Is Defiant by Christina Nordlander 2015-12-17T00:14:00

A text adventure! I like the storyline and had some fun figuring out all the different endings. I like the idea of reducing the interface to two verbs for this compo.

A Game About Bacteria by phi 2015-12-23T09:53:00

It wouldn't let me past the first intro-text. Is there a trick to this?

Turkeyconn Simulator 2016 by Turkey 2016-01-03T08:43:00

I figured out what to do after some time. It's a bit confusing though

The Tower of the Tiny Wizard by lucentbeam 2015-12-16T00:40:00

Very nice graphics. The constant zooming in of the dungeon was irritating as I didn't know at first that I could use potions to grow again because on my German keyboard Z and Y are swapped.
After figuring that out it was definitely more fun, but then I entered Level 2 with almost no health left and it didn't refill that after dying so I wasn't able to advance.

Owan by Herzucco 2015-12-15T23:24:00

Very nice! Those backgrounds, the trippy atmosphere, everything. My only complaint is that I got stuck at some point and could not restart the level.

A bit jittery but it's a nice game

Cavernous Pink by Zemmi 2015-12-17T00:24:00

Great game! I like how you mapped all the controls (move, jump, dash) to two buttons and it still works somehow.
The audio didn't work for me.

Civilise by AnaglyphCoding 2015-12-20T20:09:00

I like the style. Had fun playing this one. The CPU didn't have any chance though.

Grominows by mattrified 2015-12-17T14:16:00

Interesting 3d tron. The domino effect basically just runs down to being a timer, so some variable cause would have been nice (or maybe I understood it incorrectly..)

Sad Submission by Loneshark 2015-12-23T09:50:00

I couldn't figure out how to kill the monster. Also the game restarted when I jumped down the well. I definitely like the character sprites.

"The content was stopped because a fatal content error was detected"

Sumo Twomo by foolmoron 2015-12-20T11:42:00

Could be more enjoyable with more intuitive controls. They can still be whacky just more understandable. Maybe boost direction towards the player or middle or better visual feedback of the aim.

Hoarder by Killbert 2015-12-18T00:23:00

I had to exit the game twice to look at the help screen. Attacking is kind of difficult because you have to click on a moving target. I managed to get a couple thousand points on my third try.
Is there supposed to be audio in the game?

Billy's Big Day by Kitty553 2015-12-19T11:02:00

I could hardly see the alien thingies because of their color

Two Buttons by tobia88 2015-12-18T10:23:00

Awesome. I really like the graphic style.

The Super Bros (that are not Brothers!) by Xinelu 2015-12-16T16:59:00

Imo it would be better to make them not stop each other from jumping. I understand that you might not want players to overlap them walking for gameplay purposes but them blocking each other annoyed me a bit :(

On Tario by LeafThief 2015-12-16T19:49:00

Excellent graphics and music. Gameplay is on the weak side compared to the rest of the entry.

Exttach by VascoF 2015-12-17T14:09:00

Nice concept. Kind of reminds me of cellular automata. Its a bit hard because attaching a block can change your shooting position.

Cave Adventure by Yvanor 2015-12-16T18:00:00

The control were a bit confusing, and a lot of the times my cart went into a weird state where it was shaking and would not react to any button presses (maybe a physics glitch)?
Anyway the game is nice and works for the most part, I also like the low res graphics.

Agglomatron by quadtree 2016-01-03T08:59:00

This is awesome, albeit quite hard. I'd like the idea of this driven further

One Day I'll Be A Flower by Ovidios 2015-12-18T10:36:00

Great. Sugar production could be a bit easier but other than that it's a good game.

Beyond Happily Ever After by MoonlightBomber 2015-12-15T00:45:00

Not really a game, but a touching story about a married couple and the idea of love throughout different stages in life. I enjoyed the story, though I was maybe expecting a little more on the visual side because it said "visual novel" in the description.

Nedrag by Indiestry 2015-12-17T10:53:00

Relaxing little game. The plant looks very beautiful. I don't know what the wasps were for, they mostly just dropped to the ground.

Stock Pop by shellbot 2015-12-16T20:03:00

No matter what I do, I always get the same end screen where every value says "0G".
The sound effects are really irritating.

Guardian by TheMeorch 2015-12-16T01:18:00

The HTML5 version was sooooo slow, but the Windows build was ok. It took a while for me to figure out some strategies but then I enjoyed it a lot considering that I'm usually not a fan of turn based strategy. Well done!

Broken World by Wayward 2015-12-18T17:04:00

Amazing idea well executed. Probably the funniest game I've played this week :)
It runs fine on Linux after installing lΓΆve.
The only complaint I have is the music which is a very short loop and the fact that there are no sound effects.

Panic Room : LD34 by StrehFox 2016-01-03T08:52:00

Very nice art. The gameplay was challenging and I liked it

Winter Wilds by Bastienre4 2015-12-21T18:28:00

Good music and i really liked the tree model style. Nice feel but the gameplay itself is too dull. I was missing an indicator as to how far winter has progressed and I wasnt sure the hunter attacked me until my doggies suddenly fell over.

The Flower by Sublustris 2015-12-21T18:35:00

I like the happy little cup. I dont like the loud repeating thwomp noise in the music. More levels or at least making the level more dynamic would have been fun

Nice game. I enjoyed the mechanics but sounds would have been a great addition.

Mowing by globemaster 2015-12-16T00:02:00

Nice mechanics, it really resembles the feeling of using a lawnmower. I failed level 3, but it still took me to the victory screen.
There was no audio for me, is that a bug?

The Tie Game by Dejvo 2015-12-19T11:09:00

Liked the music, gameplay is too repetitive though

Can't Jump by x92rwzb 2015-12-21T18:40:00

I like the simplicity. The levels got easier every time so id reverse the level order. No sfx/music and mspaint-style gfx only though and not enough gameplay to make up for it.

Curse of the Slime Queen by mike.cullingham 2015-12-18T10:30:00

Interesting mechanics. I dindn't completely get my hang around attracting the slime. It always seemed very hard doing it without dying.

The Everything Building by Kepab 2016-01-06T14:37:00

This game is great and very addicting!
If there is a next version, can you add some touchscreen controls so people can play it on their phone? Consider making it an app.

Karel by Dry Tree 2015-12-19T10:49:00

Interesting mechanics with the dropable skills. Not very intuitive though, maybe better visual feedback or even easier tutorial levels would help

Funny game. Controls were a bit hard to get into.

Harry The Unusually Happy Worm by Cruzer_AU 2015-12-23T09:57:00

I like the exploration, the turning angle of the worm seems a bit wide at times. Overall very nice game.

Those are the deadliest kites I've seen so far. It's fun to play too and I really like the background graphics.

Jared and the Corn Nuts by cameronpenner 2015-12-16T23:58:00

That was is hilarious! The physics/controls are just crazy but it's easy to get the hang of it. Well done!

OSHIYA! PUSH! by inbetweengames 2015-12-16T17:14:00

Nice graphic style. The gameplay itself however is way too simple in my opinion. No changes in rhythm/speed and the music also never changes. I like the funny yatta etc. feedback though.

SNAP! by domo_demo 2015-12-19T11:26:00

Nice mood and style, however the gameplay is not very exciting

Shemeowbi by Quadnozzle 2015-12-16T00:21:00

Winning strategy: mash the left mouse button.

Orbital Panic by Aelius 2015-12-18T10:08:00

The idea of this game is great. I have my problems with the controls though. Making Gravity a factor is a good touch.

Beanstalkers Extreme: Takin' Out The Trash by ambocclusion 2015-12-20T19:53:00

love the art style and story. Great job!

SLUG STORM by Niels.Tiercelin 2015-12-16T20:33:00

For a Ludum Dare entry this has a lot of content! I'm especially impressed with the graphics and music.
I didn't see how you used the theme though.

Ogre Smash by muffty 2015-12-20T20:02:00

Very weird. I like it! Sound effects would give the game more depth.

Paul's Game by Jordan Smith 2015-12-18T10:16:00

Fun idea. The game mechanics didn't work flawlessly for me but that's not too big of an issue.

does not work for me. Archlinux, NVIDIA 8800GT

Waffle Hunters by Mechamism 2015-12-15T22:09:00

I would play it, but I'm on Linux right now and it doesn't work with wine.

Tubutten Beetle by YinYin 2015-12-20T11:49:00

I dont know if its intentional that you can mash a key to get superspeed, but it makes for some nice and stressy feel. However, the obstacles still only come very slowly and its kind of easy to evade them. Id propose different speeds but fixed "lanes" for the obstacles :)

Venus and the Flies by fractalbear 2015-12-17T14:25:00

I really liked the procedural low-poly plant! Its definetly missing a background though - mood-wise and for making the flies more visible. Also missed the opportunity for munchy sounds or some procedural music ;) Some obstacles and a goal/motivation would spice up the gameplay.

Organ-izer by The Merge Conflicts 2015-12-21T18:46:00

Awesome use of 2button gameplay. The random spawn is a minus for me, Id prefer some spawning rules s.t. you could e.g. save all happy thought bubbles.. Nice rayman-style yeah/yay sounds and pleasant music.

Inflatobirds by Softsound 2015-12-16T19:53:00

Very simplistic button mashing game, I imagine it could be fun with 4 players, it would benefint from some on screen instructions.
The audio did not work for me.

Choo Choo by Madball 2016-01-02T19:09:00

Nice use of the two button theme. It feels solid, didn't find any bugs. Congratulations on keeping the gameplay simple so you could do a good amount of different levels.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Rude Bear Responsibility by alexrose 2018-12-27T19:10:05Z

I had a lot of fun playing this, good job! The multiple endings made it almost worth playing over and over again to read all of the dialogue lines. The humor in this game is top notch! EDIT: Made it to the "true ending" too ;)

Late Bloom by drkr 2018-12-30T22:22:25Z

Lovely game you've got here ;) I like the art style, and the amount of content in the dialogues, they seem to never end!

Lab Animals by skiddings 2018-12-27T17:23:37Z

I'm impressed by this game in that it's fairly complete, everything works as expected, only the win screen is a little underwhelming, it's just a static box with the text "You win!". The theme is also implemented in that every powerup also has a downside, for example by entering berserk mode you also lose part of your vision. All in all a nice and challenging experience.

God given gifts, taken by hunttis 2018-12-27T22:41:21Z

Short but sweet platformer. The metroidvania formula is reversed here, your powers are taken away one by one. I really liked the level after you lost your double jump. The goal was in plain sight and reachable by double-jump in one second but of course you have to take a massive detour to get there because you don't have that power anymore ;)

A Day in the Antarctica by Khud0 2018-12-27T16:54:12Z

I didn't make it through sadly, I managed to burn a few penguins but didn't get how to beat the game. The mechanics work ok otherwise. Nice motion blur on the player character.

Crystal Sacrifice by Tito 2018-12-27T17:44:57Z

Nice graphics, the player character is fun to look at. The platformer mechanics could use some work though, I don't agree with the arrow keys being used for both moving and shooting and the collision has some glitches.

Harvest Defense by BrazMogu 2018-12-27T23:12:40Z

It's a fun tower defense game. I had a good time tinkering with the different tower types but got nowhere near the fortress @huvaakoodia built. My best try ended at Level 49 I guess. I don't see the theme since it's not really sacrificing something if you get rewarded instantly for it but thanks for the great game nonetheless!

Life in the Trenches by meskaline 2018-12-06T12:56:31Z

Love the low-fi pixel art and music. It feels like an old DOS game. Theme and setting is executed well. The gameplay feels unfinished, but it has potential! For me, playing the compo version got repetitive after a while.

Timbo by Kusaihana 2018-12-07T13:48:12Z

Very literal approach to the theme, I like it! I played two times and the second time I had bad luck and had to wait a long time for the right letter.

Lava Luva by mcovert 2018-12-07T13:40:31Z

Didn't read the instructions (my fault) so it took me two tries to find out that you can drag people around. After that is was very much enjoyable, the game loop of building things to acquire resources to build more things kept me captivated till the end. Good job!

Occupation Alternative by Joshuc 2018-12-27T16:49:01Z

Cool entry, I had a few laughs. Ended up with suicide being the only option, then got to be a lawyer, then a professional twatch streamer, by far the happiest ending ;) The lemonade stand is kind of hard to reach, and the implementation is a bit rough around the edges - screen transitions are a bit slow and my character was sometimes rendered behind the desk.

Running Low by Daniel Grinshpon 2018-12-27T17:16:06Z

My laptop has a resolution of 1600x900, a lot of the game was cut off. It looked cool but I could not fully enjoy it and will therefore not give a rating. Would it have been possible to run it in a window instead of full screen?

Running Low by Daniel Grinshpon 2018-12-27T22:49:26Z

@ajayajayaj Thank you I got it working now! The game is pretty cool even though there is not a lot of content, i.e. only one enemy type and one weapon. The idea of using health as ammo is executed pretty well here. My best so far is 101 seconds. I think it would be cool to have an in-game timer and a high score.

Artillery Fodder by seed42 2018-12-06T00:12:58Z

It is a cool idea, a little too hard for me. I sacrificed myself >30 times in level 1 and then some more in level 2 before I put down the game.

Pizza Royale by Moritz Jaeger 2018-12-06T00:19:34Z

I had a laugh because some of the ingredients with their facial expressions are just too cute! It's a funny and innovative concept, just suffers a little from balancing issues in the jam version. I never managed to dodge the hand for more than 2-3 rounds.

Pyramid sacrifice by luker128 2018-12-27T18:27:30Z

It's a fun little game. I like the difficulty progression with new elements (gaps, fireballs, rocks) introduced as you climb the pyramid. The ending was a nice touch too! It's nice to see a complete game finished in time.

A Heightened Plight by AstroPenguin642 2018-12-06T08:55:00Z

I like the minimalistic game design, it's a well thought out game. The pixel art is very cute too, with the people constantly bobbing up and down. I would have loved even more graphics and animations, like when someone dies of starvation, instead of just disappearing. Good job overall!

**FREEZING IS THE MAIN PROBLEM ** by CausaCreations 2018-12-06T00:01:43Z

I like the idea and the art style! I also suspect the other people using their gifts to keep the fire going. See the smoke coming out of the chimneys? ;)

Sacrablur by DanWaywell 2018-12-06T14:32:23Z

I have to admit I didn't make it throught the end. The scene where he said "save your double jump" was impossible for me. I like the tight controls and the little lines of dialogue when you run past the people. I had a good time playing that game.

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-06T13:27:37Z

The amount of content and polish you managed to pack in this compo entry is amazing! It's a complete game that's challenging yet fun to play. Congratulations!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Draconomics by CyberStarLight 2019-10-12T20:09:11Z

Really nice graphics, interesting concept! The balancing is a little bit off unfortunately, it took a long time until it got challenging.

The Story of You by LudumAnthony 2019-10-08T21:56:57Z

Cool idea and interesting gameplay mechanic. It does get repetitive after a while. Not sure about the audio, I didn't hear anything - technical issue maybe?

Grip of Despair by Khud0 2019-10-13T09:20:48Z

It IS kind of unfinished, though the main mechanics work well already, good job on that! I would have liked to see my score upon finishing the game though.

&zwsp; by winniehell 2019-10-13T10:25:23Z

A lovely puzzle/adventure game! Most of the combinations actually made sense, so I got very far by just thinking logically :) At first I didn't see the textbox because I didn't have fullscreen enabled. I really appreciated the little details, like the musical instruments and the bonus items

Necros by TwinGhosts 2019-10-12T21:05:18Z

Reminds me a lot of "Infectonator: World Dominator". I like the retro pixel sprites! The huge skeletons are very powerful.

The Void by The Enigma 2019-10-09T21:19:14Z

This entry takes the theme of "you start with nothing" quite literally, as there is not even a game in the traditional sense. It is a kind of sandbox programming environment where you can create interesting effects using three types of particles and a custom scripting language. To be honest it was a bit too much for me to handle, it took me 10 minutes to come up with a working command in the game's scripting language and then gave up shortly afterward. It would be cool to see some examples of what is possible though.

Garbage Shop by MRUniverse 2019-10-09T20:48:56Z

I played for about three in-game days, hoping for more content but it looks like every day is the same and there is no real progression. It would be cool if there was some more variation, or a goal to work toward - other than that it's a nice little game!

Everydate by BytingGames 2019-10-09T21:30:55Z

I love the artstyle and atmosphere, really well done! A refreshing take on dating sims (or dating in general?). I had a good laugh at the beginning, where you started the conversation with literally no options at all.

When Nothing Came by velvetlobster 2019-10-12T20:24:25Z

This game really is a work of art, it feels very poetic, I like the feeling going through this world. Gameplay wise it felt more like an interactive story book. For a short time I was convinced that there was a puzzle about re-arranging the letters, but then I got to the end easily by just randomly clicking on words and walking back and forth. All in all it was a good experience, thank you for this charming entry! :)

Reutemeteut (web) by croewens 2019-10-13T09:10:14Z

Not sure how it fits the theme, but it's a solid platformer with mechanics similar to Super Meat Boy. Good job!

the universe, i think by TheInkSkeleton 2019-10-12T20:55:04Z

Idea is cool, but it has too many issues to be playable.

To The Depths by BatJak03 2019-10-10T11:31:44Z

What is otherwise a cool game that is also nice to look at gets killed by horrible balancing. I need more than 5 dives to get the first upgrade, and then it increases my performence only ever so slightly. By the time I get some more upgrades it already gets very annoying and repetitive and the diving still feels the same as in the beginning, with no more interactions except steering downward and waiting for the money counter to increase. This has potential, but it needs to be tweaked a little bit!

Monks Can Into Space by skill347 2019-10-12T21:16:58Z

Very funny intro, a collection of three micro games. Gameplay feels nice and polished, you should make a version with more games. Really love the sound effect when you click on the musical notes!

Alchemicraft by chaosed0 2019-10-08T21:34:56Z

I thought it was over with the "Really Long Sword", as it felt really powerful, but then I discovered the other part of the island and finally finished the game! It is a charming survival/crafting game similar to Don't Starve. I really dig the 1-bit graphics and retro sound effects :) The controls were a bit confusing at first, I also didn't know the names of the items right away as they are only shown in the recipes, but not in the inventory. Exploring the island and finding new crafting materials was a nice experience!

HUNTER HUNGER by oddarock 2019-10-13T09:13:00Z

A really cool game, eating little animals and growing is very rewarding as a mechanic. Actually, with all these mechanics like wall slide/stick it would be really interesting to see different level designs. As it is, there is only one level and it's kind of short given the polished gameplay and graphics.

Bankbusters by lovetocode999 2019-10-12T20:29:55Z

A wacky game about blowing up a bank. Very simplistic gameplay, but still kinda fun.

Living Forrest by Majadroid 2019-10-11T22:58:08Z

Nice strategy game, reminds me a little bit of Tower Defense. In the end it gets really tough, I was around year 14 when an army of bulldozers teared my forest down :'| It's a nice touch to see the trees slowly growing over time, especially when you manage to survive for more than a couple of years - good job with the graphics too, everything is really nice to look at!

!Another Chance by aleksandar2901 2019-10-08T16:15:42Z

Nice little "choose your own adventure" type game with minimalistic artstyle. It would be good to be able to skip the text, especially on the second playthrough.

Life. I guess. by ToFuMan 2019-10-12T22:12:51Z

It's interesting to see how the individual cards affect your stats. I wonder how many endings there are, found two so far! :)

Sandbox CTF by Honey Pony 2019-10-12T21:34:30Z

I realize the goal is capture the flag, but I never got there as I was sidetracked by the crafting ;)

Polterheist by Cral 2019-10-12T22:01:22Z

I cracked up at the dialogue lines, the humor in this game is top notch! It was easy enough to figure out the puzzles, and I had a lot of fun letting all these characters talk to each other. The ending seems a bit out of place though, not sure what I achieved by smashing that window. Did I kill the boss? A short outro sequence would have been nice I think.

Glorbo's Kingdom by DrewGodden 2019-10-12T20:43:40Z

Nice gameplay mechanics, I like how the difficulty is balanced, it is challenging yet not impossible. The graphics are also pretty good :)

Running by WelshDivision 2019-10-13T09:49:19Z

Really like the idea behind the game. It seems really unfinished, but I enjoyed the weird physics! :D Record with backing up is 2.881 seconds. Really running the loop, something around 8.

Big Bang by Kason 2019-10-08T16:06:18Z

Not sure what to do in this game, and it does not come with instructions. There is a timer that counts down from 60, and I control a cube that can push red balls around. However, after about 20 seconds there appears a game over screen and the game just quits. This feels very much unfinished.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Mars Loops by Oune 2020-10-13T11:46:22Z

I like the graphics, sound design, and concept. It's a neat RPG style puzzle game, reminds me of ZZT/MZX games back in the day. The music stopping abruptly when the dialog window opens was irritating, especially when playing with headphones. When you press ESC during gameplay with no book open a pause menu pops up and your only choice is to go back to the main menu. ESC is also used to close books, so it is very easy to accidentally press it and thereby having to start over. Managed to finish the game with 11 loops.

Among Me by Verbante 2020-10-13T11:55:04Z

Genius! I love the concept, it's really mind blowing. The game even has some depth, it is possible to come up with certain strategies, though the difficulty curve is extreme because of the small room. My best score is 6 so far ;)

SentIO by simon.parzer 2020-10-08T22:15:28Z

@erlioniel I'm sorry to hear that :| it's the first time we are using Monogame for a jam, the patched version is a "standalone" build so it should run even if you don't have the right .NET framework installed. Can you try again, and if it still doesn't run write to mail@simonparzer.com with some details about your system, like Windows version, error messages if any, etc.

Everyone else, thank you for the kind words! We had a lot of fun making this game and are really happy with the reactions so far

Progress by Anant Ahuja 2020-10-13T11:17:24Z

Best game! I followed the advice and played with headphones + fullscreen, totally worth it. It's made with Godot I think, and you can press F to bypass the loading screen.

once upon a time in my weird endless dream by Withee Poositasai 2020-10-08T16:17:51Z

Nice puzzle game! I got stuck for a bit on the second or third level but I soon figured out how to do it. Since I had to retry a lot, I occasionally run into a bug where my little guy spawned outside of the board but it was resolved by restarting the level so not game-breaking :) Not sure what to do with the "final" level, I was looking for a way to open the trap door and maybe unlock an easter egg but found nothing. All in all a solid entry, if you want to develop it further, maybe add more mechanics, more levels and a level selection menu

Blazzy's Big Breakout by Dreamarch 2020-10-13T11:30:24Z

I really like the artstyle and the effect when you clone + respawn. I didn't have the patience to finish the game though, every time I respawn I have to wait for the first guard to walk the other way, there seems to be no way around that.

Trials of the Twisted Timber Land by Enad96 2020-10-08T16:32:16Z

I love the audio design on this one, relaxing music and "homemade" sfx  I was able to get past the spiderweb using the item, then some sort of boss monster appeared and killed me instantly. After that I still had the item thingy even though it wasn't displayed in the HUD. I was able to get to the boss a second time but he didn't do any damage this time but I still wasn't able to defeat him. Is there any way to beat the game? Otherwise great entry, I can also see how it fits the theme

Gold Mine And Infamy by yellowsalamander 2020-10-13T10:55:32Z

It's a wacky idea, kind of like a tower defense game except you are the tower and you are moving on rails, and are quite literally "stuck in a loop". I didn't like that I had to install the game, and I'm still a bit confused about the objective of the game as I didn't ever lose even though a lot of enemies were crawling all over my pile of gold, there is no health bar or anything. The spider webs didn't do anything either.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Dig the socials by badabooom63 2021-04-28T22:04:33Z

Really creative use of the theme, you people really put a lot of effort into creating the fake social media profiles :) In the end I had a typo in the last guy's name, forgot who I was looking for and could not bring up the previous CPS entry anymore (a bug?) so I had to resort to the walkthrough to finish the game.

Spermy the Whale Goes Deeper and Deeper by Flying Dog Fish 2021-04-28T21:27:43Z

I love the cute hand-drawn graphics, overall style and I also really dig the music. Gameplay-wise it's a simple physics-based arcade type game. It can get frustrating at times because Spermy tends to get stuck on enemies with no easy way to navigate out.

Super Mole Bro by simon.parzer 2021-04-29T12:47:00Z

@wheybags Thanks for the feedback! You can walk through spikes from the side, just falling on them from the top hurts you. We probably should have pointed that out earlier in the game ;)

Super Mole Bro by simon.parzer 2021-04-29T12:52:48Z

@UnagiV Thank you for playing! :) Do you think it's still too easy to dig left/right by accident?

Super Mole Bro by simon.parzer 2021-04-29T12:55:15Z

@guladam Thank you for the kind words! The objective is to dig as deep as possible, there is a special reward at the very bottom but I don't want to give too much of a spoiler. Maybe you want to give it another shot? :)

Aggies Adventure by Tom Ruxley 2021-05-09T23:56:16Z

I like the art style, it was a cool experience. The ending was spot on, but too soon - would have loved to explore more. What could be improved are the animations, and the controls/physics.

LD57 — Depths

Depth Self - A narrative game by Flokami 2025-04-07T16:20:34Z

Does the game end at "Leave me alone." or am I missing something?
