Happy Fishing by Vandash 2014-04-29T05:55:00
At some point I found myself TRYING to kill all the fish.
Sorry if that wasn't the game's intended effect...

OH GOD THE LASER
OMG I BEAT THE GAME!
It was short but awesome!
This is my favorite entry so far!
I got 100 gold, upgraded my equipment, then went back down and got 97 gold, then accidentally dug into a rock above me by double drilling...
The king still said it was insufficient =(
It became a lot easier once I figured out how to glide along the ceilings ;-)

I reached phase 41!
(I opened the inventory menu and went to use the restroom and make a drink)
I can't wait to see this game's NEXT PHASE.
Well that was certainly different!
Boy nukes world...Rainbow Dash loves boy?
Remove the last '/' in your post-comp link!
This is more a reality-check than a game...
If only I had mastered learning to play piano and dated earlier in life!
I lasted 600 seconds once I figured out I could try to group the purple things using re-spawns.
I managed to stabilize my population to oscillate between 402 and 403, but I found myself questioning the mechanics for structure placement and ultimate goals.
In the end I found myself spamming mine clicks around the frontier borders of my cave town.
You should consider making more levels =)
Yay! I escaped!
The knife was kind of a give-away, but it was a pretty cool interactive narrative.
I played normal mode in Firefox and then Hard mode in Chrome. I could see no difference if that is of any help.

I played normal mode in Firefox and then hard mode in Chrome. I could see no difference myself, so I would say you can play in Firefox as well.
It wouldn't start in Firefox, but it played fine in Chrome.
It's an interesting concept to tinker with, for sure!
1. Deselect All Button
2. Stop ants from moving while camera scrolling
3. Please continue to work on this game!
4. Hi :)
(14 minutes)

4. Hi :)
(14 minutes...what the heck was that yellow stuff? Toxic waste?!)
I was on a mean streak but then I hit an electron and bounced immediately into tritons.
I wanted to see my score cause I was doing well but I accidentally delayed-reaction left-clicked after I lost =/
I'll say this much: you certainly did make me feel Shock, Confusion, Denial, and Anger albeit in perhaps a different order.
I must have messed up 'the jump' on level 4 about 4 entire re-runs before I realized it is impossible to make and quit.
Also, TURN THE BGM DOWN. There needs to be an option for BGM/sounds volume at the very least.
Oh, and I forgot to add that it isn't fun to rerun the same level devoid of enemies.
I also felt Emptiness, Boredom, and Regret during those last few re-runs.
Tagline: Mr. Anderson decides to rid his debt by collecting golden Sonic rings from within the sink hole near his house. Will he succeed or will he find out his money mosh pit really is the pits?
I'm stuck in the bottom right corner of one screen. The hero is just floating and can't jump out or fall down =/
Also Left Shift + T isn't working... (Playing via Firefox)
My final score was 570
(I found myself forgetting about money and preoccupied solely with survival by stage 5)
OctoKing MK2 is too hard!
Thank you for making a bullet hell shooter!
Screen is a bit too tall for 1600x900...
Man, now I crave Ramen...
I made 40 million and I STILL couldn't make it in New York!
In regards to the theme, we originally wanted to make it so that bunkers, turrets, and other structures could be built into the ground (which would expand the screen and create a surprise scroll bar in the process). Unfortunately we ran out of time in our endeavor and the only hints of the theme are the title, the destructible dirt, and an unused HUD in the foreground.
This is fun, but a bit laggy (perhaps the enemy generation goes a little overboard as at some point I get an index error in my console and they stop spawning).
It goes without saying, but this did not work on my windows phone =/
The flaming skull on level two pushed me into the ground and I got stuck!
It's good to see a fellow Castlevania fan!
So I got really far on level 3, then I died to an invisible projectile(?) sometime after the flaming skull riders (as I like to call them), went to restart the level but ACCIDENTALLY clicked on main menu >=(
Also, mouse-click is a terrible idea for using the whip!
I realize you only had 48 hours and did a superb job given the circumstances, but my left hand index and pointer fingers are killing me. I'm book-marking this for when I have my joypad later so I can unleash my full capabilities.
First few times I didn't "get" the game and didn't realize I had to press down to swim in the blood because my guy would disappear.
After I figured it out it became a lot more fun, but it should be noted that the screen is too high in FireFox (in Chrome it fit within the boundaries of my window, though).
I was killed twice and then all the NPC sprites seemed to stop moving (or they were walking in place at the edges).
You must have worked non-stop to make this in 48 hours!
Great job!
More! More!
The BGM was like Chrono Trigger meets A Nightmare on Elm Street (NES)
In regards to the update:

Up, C, Down, C, Left, C, Right, C, Hold A + Start
Also, you might want to change the geologist's walking pose. It *might* be offensive if viewed the wrong way...
~~~~~~SPOILERS~~~~~~
I played through three times:
The first time I rescued Mark.
The second time I helped Mark up, ran away when he started asking questions, AND assassinated the dictator and got away with it (not sure if this was intended since Mark I found Mark waiting for me).
The third time I unlocked the door to Mark's room but went straight to assassinate the dictator. No Mark at the end.
Thank goodness it's 2014 and not 1984. And also not N.K. for that matter.
Good audio, though I think the BGM could have been tuned down a bit =P
Love the animated eye on that drill =)
I spawned in a room full of loot that made the game way too easy (or so I thought).
I found myself avoiding the exit just so that I could explore the first floor as much as I could. I think I had most of it explored...but then I ran out of ammo when a ghost-thingy was assaulting me!
I want to play as the Green dude!
I think the controls were a little frustrating at times because of turning momentum and camera angles, but the fish did feel like a fish so good job on that.
It's tough to do a 3D game in a weekend but you've at least done better than others have. I'm curious as to what kind of BGM you might have been thinking of for setting the mood...
It seems that you might be familiar with SCP.
If so then I'm afraid that I'm going to have to keep an eye on [Redacted] so that your entry doesn't cause [Redacted] to occur before we are ready for [Redacted].
At any rate, it's a good thing you didn't include an image of [Redacted]!
However, if nothing I have stated makes any sense to you than I am perhaps mistaken and you are perfectly safe and free to disregard the above. Merry Xmas!
Arghh! That one level where you are forced to turn rapidly to fill each and every square is torture! I'd like to come back to it at some point but I really don't want to replay all of the former levels...
I like the countdown blocks, but I hate that I can't see which level I am on for a sanity check. A password system for easy mode would be nice and who ever can complete this on hard mode deserves a trophy for "most patient person ever".
For the HTML5 player I found out that with a gamepad I can make the ball go in reverse by moving with the left directional axis! Unfortunately the velocity is static so eventually the ball's positive velocity will override it and force it to go forward (albeit at a slower pace).
Left (A) didn't seem to do much as the ball clung to the left wall the whole time, but I found it an entertaining concept to only be able to accelerate or move to the other wall.
This is a pretty solid entry. I loved the monologues the characters had and the style of the little portraits was a nice touch.
I know you skipped judgment for audio, but I could see this game being a lot more humorous with the right sounds.
I want to give this entry high ratings across the board, but I've only watched the video and haven't played it. I'll try to convince a friend or coworker to give it a shot (bang!), though.
Interesting concept! I'd like to see what this could have turned into with more time...
It seems the post-jam version 1.0 has an issue where the player can jump higher or not as high depending on input detection from browser.
I'll have to investigate this matter and possibly tweak collision detection as well.
@Tangible Games, I just checked and cookies definitely work for both gamepad and keyboard*
~~SPOILERS BELOW~~
There wasn't enough time to do a proper death scene with the well: "You died. Why on Earth would anyone jump down a well?!"
If I get around to it I might make an updated version where the well actually has more significance...
*You did say you explored, right? ;-)
~~SPOILERS~~
@SamH the original is available via source for the curious, but it's essentially the post-jam version minus the main BGM and the ability to be completed (there was no way to die or 'finish').
I finally got enough power to take on a human and right before I got to eat him it looks like the client closed and the console said something along the lines of 'paused. press enter to continue' then shut down on me =(
I think it's a cute game, but the food curve for 'leveling' turns it into a music-less grind (and there aren't nearly enough deer to satisfy my dino's taste for flesh). I'm also disappointed I never got to kill and eat my stray human prey.
Creepy and awesome!
That ending makes me wonder about the meaning of all this. I mean the uniformed clothing, the photos, and the flying hands seem to make one think "Oh, THAT is what this is about", but then you get to the end and it's like "Wait, why is THIS here?"
63 points
Pretty good stuff! I found a good strategy for starting is to kind of do short burst fires to hover in the center.
A weekend game dev jam just isn't long enough for these projects as I can totally imagine more amazing ideas you might have implemented provided more time and rest =)
Glad to see a fellow sfxr user
This is a great idea for a puzzle series, but I feel like the attract function could have been used to much more interesting effect with maybe a blue slime or other mechanism for blocking and/or swapping the controlling slime.
I could only summon up to Ph-ph(?) The Terror
I guess I make a pretty lousy cultist
Sweet game, though!
...Was that a dickbutt?
I finally beat this game.
There needs to be a bit more feedback for click and drag as it's not obvious what's going on from the tutorial alone.
I was furious when I almost reached the clouds but missed one shot with a viking who single-handedly chopped my plant back down within seconds. It's a bit brutal with punishment and could be balanced a bit more (understandable with the lack of time and all, though).
I feel like the little pilgrim avatar could have had a bit more pushing power against the viking soldiers to give him more reason to stay on screen.
I got to 30 points after a few tries but never really saw any hay bales.
These kind of games remind me of updated versions of the old Tiger Electronics hand-helds.
The whole experience is like the ending credits to a hard day and I'm glad you had the balls to go 3D. Can't wait for the sequel: Plant Another Tree
27 points, but then I fell right between those mattresses!
I think everyone has (or is) a 'Jared' in their life at some point, so good job sharing this quasi-relatable experience!
This game has potential. I'd be interested in seeing it advanced further with more of your ideas and plot implemented. Good work!
Fun game but was there music? I couldn't hear anything...(Fire Fox)
Ignore my last comment about the music as I'm having issues with my sound card in general. I'll re-rate you.
Unfinished lines (1 click only) seem to affect the physics of the ball.
I was glad you only put 8 worlds in otherwise I might have been stuck playing all night long =D
Next time I go to the club I am totally going to rock blinder shades and a red bow tie
765, but I forgot about the x list...
Score: 55,025 (can definitely do better, though)
I love the power-ups and the game play, but it feels kind of empty without sound. Oh, wait! Just run this in another tab... =)
