The game feels pretty surreal, in the best possible way. You've mastered the theme.

ltpats 2015-04-20 06:32

This was really cool, I ended up playing for a lot longer than I originally expected. The upgrades didn't seem to do anything unless I'm missing something, and the planets were kinda easy to pass up but that wasn't a huge deal. I'd love to see more of this, it was really easy to get into but also very addictive, great work!

texdata 2015-04-20 09:00

GUI is corrupted, but nice setting !

2015-04-20 09:08

I appreciated the effectiveness of marmots and Spanish rain in this

hunttis 2015-04-20 09:33

Nice idea! Too bad I don't really know english syllable rules, so it was kinda difficult for me :D

For the people experiencing UI problems, use a 16:9 or a 16:10 resolution! If you run with 4:3, then stuff is going to be out of screen (and game will become really hard :D )

pixelballoon 2015-04-20 10:15

The idea is great - I'd have liked to be able to use some of the smaller pieces together to fit the 5/7/5 rule, as it was I mostly used marmots rather than most of the ones in the store.

I think I defeated all of the planets. Nice little concept, one of the most original interpretations of the theme I've seen so far!

surpent 2015-04-20 10:24

Unique battle that use the haiku.
I love spacious mood.

nilq 2015-04-20 11:25

I'm on a train back home from a Real World Gathering, with silly internet, so I can't download the game.

But the screenshots look awesome!

2r 2015-04-20 11:36

Cool!

vulkanmannen 2015-04-20 11:43

Sorry, didn't get it. How do I fight? Pick random sentences? It took a long time for me to understand that I use w,a,s,d to move.

nuclear-mosquito 2015-04-20 19:35

I feel like this would've done better as a RPG rather than a space shooter, but I love the Haiku mechanic. Great Job

calavera 2015-04-20 23:09

Awesome use of the theme. How can i get more words? all i have are te same 3 or 4 options over and over.

kabutakogames 2015-04-20 23:18

For those curious,
Try the shop for new phrases,
A hundred bucks each!

yamzho 2015-04-21 07:54

Nice game there !

j_peeba 2015-04-21 14:04

It's a great idea but I don't this this game is really for me, although it could be mostly because I'm not a native English speaker so counting out the syllables can be a chore.

Nevertheless, the presentation of the game is very well put together with a suitably space-y soundtrack :)

rogberth 2015-04-21 14:05

What did I just play? hahaha, great work. I don't usually get dizzy with games but it was a bit hard to turn the ship without getting a little bit.

nassi 2015-04-21 14:39

Cool idea and I also got a general grasp of the syllables used in English thanks to this. I think I managed to clear all of the planets, some of them with perfect haikus even!

Comment in haiku:
the game was interesting,
thanks for making it.

cheshyr 2015-04-21 15:25

hehe, clever. mouse-lock for windowed mode would be nice. :-) felt like fighting weeping angels from dr. who. nice work!

ossi 2015-04-21 19:59

This is really innovative and the execution on the theme was perfect! I love me some puns and Skyku is great! I did have a lot of trouble battling though, I got close to winning once but the enemies are way better than me at this haha! I like the combination of genres and the planets in the background added a good amount of atmosphere. Great job!

cgmorton 2015-04-22 17:48

Hi, I'm on Linux and there doesn't seem to be a way to change the resolution. Or anything in the game world I can interact with besides the shop.

simon-parzer 2015-04-22 22:12

This is interesting in a way, and haikus for sure are an unconventional weapon.
The game is more fun than it should be. All you can do is fly around in a sort of overworld space mode, and fight on different planets. The fight itself is not really a challenge. I wonder why there are no 5 syllable phrases though - I was hoping to make a perfect Haiku, but the game won't let me. Not even the shop has them, and why would I buy a one syllable phrase for $100?
It also took me a while to find out that I have to click on my ship to submit the haiku. I guess the game could do that automatically, as there is nothing meaningful I can do after all 3 lines are filled.

lebrokholic 2015-04-23 10:25

Very wonderful game! I'm kin on the time that I spent on this product

andrewkennedy 2015-04-24 03:16

Huh. Haiku is certainly an unconventional weapon! I really appreciate games that work the menu/ui into the level design. Really nice work!

evergreen-games-ludum-dare 2015-04-24 06:24

love the idea! i couldn't seem to string multiple phrases in one line. really cool tho

ruerob 2015-04-24 08:08

Nice game! Very well done! Just the fights were a little long! But I like the graphics, the sound and the flying very much!

orangeez 2015-04-24 09:06

Hi! In case you're still interested, I've fixed web build link for our Rules of Paradox game.

safran 2015-04-24 10:20

I can't seem to understand.

ainoraz 2015-04-24 15:20

This game is weird but also fun! What have you done to me > - <? Giving good ratings

madameberry 2015-04-24 18:41

I feel a kinship.

I don't know why, but "shall we eat all the" never counted as being five syllables even though it is? Also I had a very hard time telling who was winning until I actually won.

buzzwerd 2015-04-25 06:28

Beautiful art, had a good time streaming it. I missed that you could buy more words in the shop and gave up on it too early so I won't count that against you. A really cool idea though.

frenchie 2015-04-25 06:59

Nice game. I like the description you put :)

I felt a huge lack of feedback though. I had no idea when I was getting hurt or doing damage. It took me way too long to understand it.

mach60kas 2015-04-25 12:26

Hey, thanks for trying to play my game! I have a primitive events system working now that spams my computer with noise whenever a connection occurs, so if you want to try and play then give me a time and I'll try and have myself or someone I know looking out for it!

Thanks again! :)

mach60kas 2015-04-25 14:19

Fantastic use of the theme, pretty fun to beat your enemies with malformed haikus at the start! Graphics were nice too, my only real issue was that "Reroll" costing health wasn't really explained. Good work, keep it up! :)

nikteddy92 2015-04-25 21:16

Lol I like the choice system! Well done!

deadbodyoutline 2015-04-26 21:53

Quite unusual, got some time to "proper" play the game (English is not my native language), but I loved it!

terraneola 2015-04-27 18:49

At the beginning I didn't get how to fight, so I think the rules should be explained more precisely. Beside this game is really fun. I also like the graphics. For me it's strong 4/5.

jasonsumm 2015-04-29 18:58

Awesome! Really liked it! Thanks for your feedback also :)

12pechasofsouls 2015-04-29 22:55

Very interesting use of theme and mechanics. I like this game! :D

franklins-ghost 2015-05-01 16:09

The mood of flying through space is really well done on this and the use of haiku was a clever take on the theme.

fabraz 2015-05-04 21:42

This was very fun
I wish there were more haiku
To add to the fun

I think some of your syllable counts were off... just sayin :)
