Adore the artwork. Great concept, and well executed. I had a really difficult time managing all the monsters hell-bent on killing themselves and lost pretty quick, but it was delightful.

AWESOME GAME. Really, congratulations, love the art, the gamefeel and the design. My only problem is that the controls are so weird. I kept on pressing the space bar by instinct when I wanted to jump :( Everything else is terrific, I love to see polished games like this one, hope to see you next ludum!
Very well done, the music fits the tone very well! The controls take a bit to get used to, but the gameplay is fun and oddly addictive.
This is absolutely lovely! I really like the game overall, especially the graphics and the sound and how they all fit together. Really good job!
Beautiful :eyes:! Had a great time trying to beat a target of 20.... only to smash it with a 43 after a fair few fails. I think the fire at its max height is a little unforgiving :stuck_out_tongue: Incredibly solid game and I guess I have a new god now :chicken:
Hey! As the jam submission time wasn't over and there's a few commenters who have problems with the controls, I've just updated the game with more alternative control schemes. Now you can use SPACEBAR to jump and ALT/ALTGR to grab enemies
@fullmontis @luqey @shendev If I'm honest, I played the game with the controller, because the keyboard was too difficult for me, hahaha.
Thank you everyone for your kind words!
Oh man this game is really well done. Nice pixel art and music. Gets really hectic when lots of critters start filling the screen. Good job!
WOW! This graphics is amazing, wonderful, fantastic, buetyfull... just WOW! Gameplay is also good, but the graphics!!! Good Luck!
Amazing fast paced game with such beautifull graphics...WOW!
I love the art and animation for this! It plays very smoothly, and the main mechanic and overall visual is super strong. Great submission.
Wow, fantastic job with the art, great concept. I do agree controls take a little get used to, but once I got that down I was sacrificing everything to my chicken god!!!
Well done, the game is fun and challenging, so much potential here. Keep it up
Love the graphics and audio, and that chicken god is awesome. :D Keyboard controls are very awkward, I'll have to try it with my controller if I can ever find the darn thing.
I really love this game. the gameplay is simple but there's a lot of polish. if you add some cooperation and some features to make the map dynamic and you can be sure that i would be a buyer ! :) Nice work !
Graphics and Audio feels pretty good! It's a simple game but also challenging over the time and I had fun while play it!
Amazing game bro, we had a sneaky peaky when u posted about it during the LD and we at the studio were looking forward to playing it. And we were right about it haha, easy and fun but still challenging. again, amazing game, keep on going . CYA
A beautifully whole take on the concept of sacrifices and Chicken Gods! *A special shoutout to 6 egg-thingies accepting their fate on their own... successively.*
@neon-glass (they're called Eggwards. Poor eggward) <3
A nice little game with good graphics. Plays nicely with a controller.
Awesome, great work! :top:
Awesome game ^^ Could have used a jump that could reach the 2nd platform without grabbing the monsters. But apart from that cool game / concept.
@michno You actually should be able to! Keep the key pressed and the character will jump to the top level.
This game feels so polished! good that you managed to add some music because there are not many games with ANY music at all, and even less with good music. Also the controls and moving around feels very smooth, and always when i lose, i feel like it is only my fault
I said on twitter that i'm going to rate this game once i get home, so here i am. 5/5 - The angry rubber-duckie god has blessed you with amazing game making skills. (Srsly, it's a lot of fun and the level of polish is amazing)
Good work: the game is fun and has a cool graphics, furthermore the Chicken God is awesome!
Ok, this is straight up too good. So good I have nothing to say besides how polished everything is.
You could leave it as is and it'd be a finished product already in somewhere like Newgrounds. Add levels, more mechanics (level hazards would be awesome) and multiplayer (I'm not that guy who asks for multiplayer on everything, it's just that this feels perfect for both co-op and vs gameplay) and I'd buy it on Steam for the same kind of polish I'm seeing here.
The visuals are great, as is the gameplay and the soundtrack. I love how Chicken God looks. You could have this hosted somewhere as it is, but I'd love to see a version of this game with some more finality to it, like an ultimate objective. Good stuff.
Simple, addicting little game. The art is great, the whole thing looks finished.
This is the best game I've played this LD so far. It deserves nothing less than a 5 star Fun rating from me. I know this, because I physically said out loud "this is fun" with a smile on my face while I was playing it, rather than needing to think about it when I got to the ratings.
It works so goddamn well, it invokes that "just one more go" feeling that I think will take this far.
I have not a list of issues, but a list of improvement suggestions, for there are no real issues with this game: When you are holding a mob, I think it should draw an arc to show the path it will take when thrown. I think you should be able to catch mobs when you are falling/jumping. If you can already, I couldn't get it to happen, so I think the grab range should be increased only when in the air. Catching a mob mid-air as it's about to fall into the pit would have a real cathartic fun vibe to it, much the same way as seeing somebody's head explode meatily when you get a headshot is cathartic.
The artwork is really cool and polished. I got a bit frustrated by the fact I couldn't do much to avoid the "unwanted" creatures to jump into the fire, maybe they could get stunned a while after you thorw them apart so you can take a breath before they returns on their suicide mood :P But, in the end, is a good game!
Nice game, lovely graphics, would be nice on party games for more players on one TV :)
Great art and animation!
Wow, great job, it's look like the ended game! It's awesome!
good job : great art, music and the gameplay is simple but very fun.
Really cool game, controls were tight, graphic style was awesome! Only nitpick would be the randomness of the preferred sacrifice - perhaps some predictability like sacrificing X amount of a particular monster. Great job all around!
@randomphantom Yeah I've never come to be happy with that. As a curiosity, it actually isn't entirely random! It takes in mind the number of monsters of each type actually in the field, and it has a veeery low chance to ask for an enemy that's not spawned. But I never managed to make it exactly like wanted!
Thank you all for playing! :)
Fun game with tight controls, and cool graphics and sound. Good job!
a simple idea well realized with a cool art style, good job!
Hard to control
Awesome entry! Great idea. Good job :)
Amazing game, I was bad at it, but enjoyed being bad while trying to be good 😁
Everything, from art to music and coding (I love the simple but effective transitions) fits in a product that feels complete and is fun to play.
Good job 😊
Fun game, perfect execution of the theme, cool audio, graphics were spot on (they kinda made me feel sorry for the cute slimes).
Amazing game with cool graphics!)
Nothing to add to the great feedback up there. Loved the idea since the first "wip post"!
This was a nice little game. Really glad it had native gamepad support. Felt very tight and polished, looked classically retro, and was easy to understand.
Could be expanded with multiple levels where you slowly add more types of characters to add to the chaos, and I wish it supported d-pad out of the box, but luckily I was able to remap with DS4. :)
Here's my play: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/345392408?t=33m32s
Loved the game :) The mechanics are so simple, but they work great. Graphics and sound effects were amazing. Congratulations guys
I'm afraid I'm addicted:joy: Graphics and sound are great, but this game did best in the fun category in my opinion. For me this is the game I found most fun to play of all submitted games I've played. It gave me a bit of a Super Mario minigame feeling. It also felt VERY smooth to play and it was very satisfying to save a creature just before he falls in the pit. After playing for half an hour, I found a tiny little bug (it was really really minor): If two creatures are on exactly the same spot, both get picked up. This only occured to me once since it is very rare, but wanted to let you know. I Love this game
Great looking and sounding game, with neat mechanics to boot. When I realised I needed to throw the unwanted sacrifices *away* from the fire I was like "oooh I see what you did there!". Very cool.
I never put so high notes on a game ! So nice graphics and sounds
Lovely game, love the graphics.
Couldn't wait to play this game it just looks so good! It also plays just as well as it looks, you managed to get so much juice into this game, every little action feels so good to do! Some better way to restrict unwanted sacrifices would be interesting to see, just throwing them away from the pit got a little hard to handle at some points Truly an amazing job, great game ( :
Very smooth and polished, gameplay is simple yet so fun. The atmosphere and graphics are well thought out. A very solid entry that I keep coming back to. Love it
Guys, this is great! =) This is a real game.
Nice and challenging game, really loved it.
Great art and game idea. Good job!
Great art, fun sounds, really cool little monsters and animations. I wanted a way to get rid of the incorrect monsters - the only thing I could come up with was throwing them away toward the side. The controls are smooth and the whole thing is very impressive.
The arcadeness is off the charts. I can see this being in an arcade machine in the 80s easily. The art is so clean and fitting. Great polish. Congrats!
Ahahah, this was so much fun! Gets real hectic real fast!
Genial juego! Enhorabuena! :clap_tone2:
Nice graphics, great concept! I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/MmJYQ_UA09A
GREAT game! loved the art. The gameplay feels so solid!
Really stressful, but really fun!
@daruudaruu Hey, thank you for sharing your game! It's pretty fun, and a great one I think for people to watch, too! (and that's always a plus!) Love the sprite-work, and I think you balanced the design of the monsters well, too.
You can watch my gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M72hqBQNSIQ
I'm not quite sure where to start with this one-- everything was so well done! The pixel art was superb, the animations were excellent, and the visuals were awesome in general; like the screen transitions, the screen shake effect, the particles, and the lighting. It's the attention to detail that makes this game feel polished and complete. As far as audio, the music was really good in my opinion, as well as the sound effects. The volume of all the sounds was well balanced and nothing ever felt ear-piercing. I think the mood was generally pretty good-- but the lighting on the Chicken God really amplified it! I feel like the interpretation of the theme wasn't as creative as it could have been, but overall it's still a pretty fun and interesting concept. The gameplay was engaging, and it was as addicting as it was challenging. I really wish I had some useful criticism to offer, but overall the game was very good. The only thing I feel like could use a little adjusting is perhaps the spawning of the creatures-- sometimes they really seem to target one side over the other. Also, the Chicken God seems a bit biased sometimes. I'm not sure if those things are intentional or just a side-effect of the RNG. Like I said, though, this is really good overall. Excellent work!
Excellent! I loved the controller support!
Great game! I wish a webGL version was available...
@daruudaruu My friend Rae Killham also played it, she liked it so much from my video that she wanted to, as well.
Here's her video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRlXvo5Jszo
