I like the art style, but it is really hard to get back once you screwed up one level (bought a toy for 8$, got 7$ back)

340, 20340
Was a fun game and could have played longer as you can pretty easily kite anything, but i lost my motivation mid game! But good job!
Awesome game, i love the graphics and the gameplay, though i hate to have inverted controls forced on me!
Awesome game, that shows what a three man team can acomplish in 72hours, good job guys!
Would be better with Audio but nonetheless very enjoyable!
Website is down :(
Unable to run on Windows 8.
Nice game, awesome graphics, good sounds! I really enjoyed it, though the shot colour was really hard to see for me.
Was rather easy!
Very nice game, that was worth the time i spend playing on it, will play again!
Interesting game, awesome mechanics once you get a hang of it!
Mood and graphics were really cool, thanks for submitting, keep up the good work!
Interesting approach, good to see a non-video game- game! Interesting idea!
Challenging and fun. Looks really nice.
Not working on Chrome
I like the difficulty and graphics, though the sound isn't up to those crsip graphics, but overall great :)
I really love the work you put into the sounds, gameplay is a bit strange but it still is very nice!
I don't get it.
Upped your score after reading the comments and replaying, was rather nice.
Was fun but a bit confusing..
Sweet thing! Thou the dl is a bit large
Awesome game, nice visuals!
Nice game, but really hard! I enjoyed the difficulty though, the graphics are crisp.
One thing, the Close Button doesn't close the game. Overall great job!
So, after giving it another try, i must say, it defintitly is nice, especially for 4 hours, good job dude!
Hard but fun!
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, i probably should have taken another approach for level design, and my collision detection is abmyssal, maybe i will improve it by adding a phys2d engine in the aftermath!
Added the Map as screenshot
@FuzzyWuzzie: Yeah, the whole physics and controls need work, those will be the next parts i'm tackling.
@Tonic: Will do, currently rewriting it so it doesn't use Slick (see my Journal)
Thanks for the input guys!
@Alex Rose: Well you can Press F10 (not on mac thou, OsX kills that..), but yeah, adding a permanent OnScreen Button might me nice.
And yeah, thats what i did, i didn't have more time for proper physics, will be in the game in a later stage! Thanks for the input!
Very original, i enjoyed it, overall really nice!
Great game, hope you reach a high position, as it is a really fun and great looking/sounding game with lots of fun!
Fun game, keep up the good work!
Awesome game, good amount of content and awesome graphics!
No links..
Interesting game!
Carzy game! But i enjoyed it!
Easy game, minimal graphics, will keep it around to play if i ever get bored, good job!
I really enjoyed the graphics and gameplay, those neat little effects you added are nice, keep up the good work!
Nice logic game, i like the minimalistic graphics, thou some explanation what each block does would be helpful!
Amazing intro, great game, good job!
Very addictive, can't stop playing, thanks for making this! Would love to see it expanded!
Simple, good audio, nice graphics, i liked it!
Loved the graphics and the mood! Awesome stuff!
Reminds me of the Press Space to Win - RPG, but i enjoyed it never the less, great stuff for your first LD, keep up the good work! :)
Very fun, but it just is depressing to see how bad i am at drawing stuff :D
Good graphics, i pretty much enjoyed the mood, but it can be hard to grasp.
A bit short but great, enjoyed it quite a bit!
Really interesting gameplay, really deep, seems great!
Liked the graphics, really fun gameplay mechanics, not too easy!
Loved it! Really fun overall :)
Hard and not really puzzly, or maybe i am just too stupid for it ^^
Liked the graphics and OMG the sounds are amazing, as well as the UI. Gameplay is hard but quite fun!
I like the humor in that one :)
Amazing voiceacting :D
Simple, fun, and could play for hours! :)
Thanks for your comments.
Towards the "disconnected from the theme" - critiques: Yeah, you are right, and i apologize. I had more features planned which would be more centered around 10 seconds, but i failed to implement them, so i am sorry to disappoint you guys.
@jwolf: I'm running Chrome28 without problems, but i will try some different browsers and check back with some findings!
Oh and @lulzfish_4:
Well, i would really call it an "upgrade". The Pistol is a good "all-around weapon" that scales well into the boss fight. (Boss HP increases at the same rate a pure damage pistol users damage would increase), Shotgun has a closer range and slower bullets, but scales stronger, while the faster and more fun RocketLauncher actually does less damage then the Pistol from Level 7 onward.
Thanks for the feedback guys!
@davidwparker: Well, impact sure made a lot of things very easy, especially hit detection, and i don't really have any problem with it per se, my problems with it stem from the lacking of OOP for JS (even with the hack) and the abmyssal Syntax. Overall nice, and i don't regret buying it, but i will most likely not use it again (unless i don't find time to work with libgdx until next LD)
Well, based on all your input, i will throw in a quick fix for the repeated space tapping later tonight.
BenWhi, I actually included that later on, should be working :)
Flying Saucer and graphics are cool, physics also pretty cool!
Nice way of interpreting the theme, CD can be quite a bitch, but you still did nicely!
Awesome mood in this game, keep it up :)
Amazing art, good pace of difficulty, enjoyable!
Great puzzles, very enjoyable!
What is there to say about that, didn't dislike anything, was fun and good!
Fun! Good job :)
Awesome art, great game!
Kinda disconnected from the theme but still good :)
Awesome game, very much enjoyed it!
2 player part is a bit unlucky, but overall fun game
Fun game, likes the graphics, but damn is it hard.
Thos enemies shoot you the instant they can..
Cool design and nice approach!
Couldn't find openal32.dll :/
Great idea, really fun, but collision could use some work!
Was a tad bit too confusing for me tbh
Somewhat reptetitive, but still a fun game!
Awesome little game, thou it took me quite some while to find the rotor, love the tint you give it for frostbite
@All: Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Guess i'm gonna tweak the physics in the after-LD Branch!
@jhell: Well, you get different endings depending on how many of the green guys you kill ;) (3 different endings, Bad, Neutral and Good). And yes, Music was greated by abundant-music and then rendered with some high quality soundfont :P
Great game! Was quite fun, had minor hiccups along the way with some glitches and out of bounds errors where Collision was missing (left sea was missing bounds)
I like the terminal part more then the actual shooting. But overall, really great stuff! (maybe I didn't liek the FPS because it was too hard for me!)
Great game, great visuals, just awesome. Love it!
Easy Game, but fun to play for a quick round. Gives me some Tetris-vibes.
Okay, my arm hurts now but I finished wiht 42 seconds remaining. Quick, Fun, works :D
@xephrys Thanks for the comment and the feedback! Indeed, the Game Over Screen really is lacking polish - I will keep that in mind for the next LD.
For Construct3: TBH, i haven't ran into any major issues with the current version of the Engine. It was pretty straight forward to get into (only started on the Friday of LD45). The JavaScript Implementation needed some tinkering, but overall, i really enjoyed my time with Construct and would use it again. (Though I am currently contemplating reworking the game from the ground up in Godot and expanding on the Ideas that have eluded me during this Jam)
@captain-nakou Thanks for playing!
@maxklimenok Thank you very much for the indepth feedback! I will take that into consideration for the next entry!
@danie Thank you for playing and the feedback! And yeah, some jumps were a bit tricky - I ran into a bit of a problem when replacing my earlier Blockers for the Platforms and had to redo all the levels.
@fashionbatman Thank you for the feedback! The original plan was to pair the style of Level 5 with colour puzzles like in Level 3, so that might happen eventually!
Fun game, nice story around the gameplay. The Platforming section kicked my butt though!
Really fun Clicker Game. The "World" was a bit unintuitive for me at first, but once I understood it, it turned out to be a great addition and break from the typical Clicker/IDle convention!
Wow, what a game. Really enjoyable. Awesome art (that somehow feels very familiar) and great gameplay, lots of polish. Feels more like a Jam Game then a Compo game, you are awesome!
Reminds me of Spore (as said in the comments above :D) Sadly, the performance of the WebGL Version is (at least on my system) horrible. Lots of slowdowns and stuttering - but the overall concept and gameplay is great!
Love the game, well done! Thanks for sharing!
Damn, o am just not good enough for your game it seems - very tough! But I guess you could expand it nicely!
Great looking game, funny voice lines - a tad bit short. My biggest gripe would be that your jumps/positioning needs to be pretty accurate to reliably wallrun.
Aside from that - damn, that game had me smilin the whole way through!
Fun little racing game, takes some getting used to. Definitely agree with @luckyfeathers on the lap times!
Won the game, however I totally failed at every step of the way :D Still enjoyable!
@shashwat @lelulagames @thedarkmagi @indiedevdan @kantieno Thank you very much for your feedback and taking the time to play my game!
@quadtree Thanks for the feedback - I guess that was a big oversight on my site, should have explained that better!
@el-pepi thank you very much for playing - and yes, you definitely are right, the inner stuff is hard to react to! Could definitely use more polish/tweaking!
@flying-dog-fish Thanks for plaiyng the game and giving solid feedbakc on what can be improved - totally aggree with you!
@cyborg-studio Yeah, I think I should also do more stuff between all those LDs to also hone my skills on the side. I think there would be way more things that could helped the game be more fun if i wouldn't only use the engine once a year..
@zimny11 haha, I feel you - I noticed that a lot of people make that mistake and going forward I should go back to including a tutorial like I did in my last game!
deleted
Haha, that was pretty fun, great job especially for 5 hours of work!
So, i think i really need to hone my skills to win at your game - and it is a fun game!
Highscore of 73 - played for a bit and I have to say, I love the polish that you put into this. A very solid entry which focuses on it's strength, the core gameplay LOOP and the LOOP that LOOPY loops on!
Sound Effects are always something that are hit and miss for me, the shooting effect was alright but the sound for hitting animals was not the most enjoyable to my ears so i had to mute them. However, your background music fit the game pretty well in my opinion, not too hectic, not too busy.
My only nitpick would be that the RNG can sometimes lead to very easy games and very hard games - my first try an animal spawned 0.5 seconds into my loop and caused me to instantly Game Over.
The round with the highscore however had multiple loops of enemies being on the other side of the screen, so there was that!
Overall, really fun game!
Great take on the theme, enjoyed playing it!
I like the premise of the repeating and distorting dungeon - however I somehow wasn't able to progress further than 3 or 4 iterations. There was one room where it had a small enemy in the middle with 3 attacks - and despite shooting a lot at the enemy in the middle, he wouldn't be rmoved.
You know, I am a huge sucker for Idle Games. Therefore I must say, that I really enjoy the Simulation part of the game and just digging into the relaxing, soothing atmosphere the game is building. Easily the top game of the Jam for me!
I enjoyed my time with the game - took some getting used to your loop, but once it clicked it was enjoyable. I would love the addition of an High Score to give some longevity and tickle my inner high score hunting nerd, but overall a great entry!
I like the graphics and the sound - also, here is your 20th Rating for you, thanks for your game!
Really enjoyed my time with the game, though I guess I’m just not good enough in my old days for that difficulty 😂
Nice story, digging the art style. Very enjoyable!
Me and my group of friends had limbo as a big word written on our Whiteboard of Ideas. Sadly, nobody picked it up to be made into a game.
But coming across your game, i was immediatly thinking back at the jokes we had and it turned out brilliant! Hard game, but so well done!
Back during brainstorming I was fantasizing about just this kind of game. The Maze inside a Maze inside a Maze - Mazeception as another commentator put it.
I love your artstyle and even though the gameplay is hurting my feeble brain a lot, i really dig it, awesome stuff! And I for one dig oyur music and sound a lot!
Lots of other people are like "it's very short". However, when I participated in my first jam, people told me to keep the actual game below 5 minutes in order to make sure that people can experience the full game.
As such, you totally nailed it in my books - short, sweet with great artstyle, music and animations. Would play again, keep at it!
I love the kind of game you are going for. It feels like a very old school experience - centered around one screen and with what feels like limitless actions that take different turns.
Would love to see you expand upon it - especially with the artstyle and some story behind it (and if it's just some soothing narration on top)
I am very impressed by the mechanics you built into your game. Especially the Terrain Manipulation is top notch. Overall it feels like an awesome game with fitting graphics and a solid presentation. Very interesting and engaging gameplay - you should enter more often than once ever 10 LDs! ;-)
Even if the game completely confused the heck out of me (pardon my french) - it was an interesting experience and the slick black artstyle is really well done!
I really like your art-direction - the 2D Sprites in the 3D environment is something thats working so well. And the combat is feeling pretty fun.
But I have to agree with other commentators, that the RNG is sometimes a bit crazy - I also got a spell for 1 Gold that instakilled hordes of enemies and bosses while fully healing myself each time i cast it. I'm not sure if that was intended.
I never really had a look at Roblox, but hats off to you for developing something like that in 48 hours. Just for you I setup a Roblox account and played around - interesting an enjoyable. Sad to see that you can't use your own music - and also thanks for the postmortem, maybe I should check that out for fun as well!
Hi there,
so right of the bat, I noticed one thing with your game - shooting the gun requires the Z button. Due to me using a german PC, this setup is highly inconvenient (Z is next to T on the keyboard). So, after some tinkering, that was fixed (and I didn't factor that into my scoring, just letting you know)
Overall, I really dig the artstyle. The color palettes are coming together nicely and it is just pleasing to look at. Great Spritework as well!
The Sound design is suberp - I love the voice lines.
Gameplay wise, I'm really bad at dodging the enemies, so i didn't get very far on the first try, but getting there. Solid game, would recommend playing!
@seb-degraff well, this is Strange, seeing how I developed and built on Mac OS - what version of MacOS are you using? Maybe it’s not Backwards compatible? 🤔 (I compiled in BigSur)
@voidsay thank you for the long term trial! I have been using short term studies on cube-based effects on my girlfriend after she clicked on them for up to 30 minutes and could not measure any impacts.
Your data will be valuable to our society’s research papers!
@seb-degraff Found the error - file names are hard.. apparently I named the dmg file with a small d but the link I posted contained a capital D. It is fixed now! I will have to have a look at the Compiled Web-Version, thanks for letting me know!
Thanks everyone else for the kind words and the Ratings - I'll check out your games in the next hours and rate your games as well, it means a lot to me!
@seb-degraff Well shite. I just tried uploading a new DMG File and downloading and am still getting the error about being from an unknown identifier and not being able to be open. I'm really sorry that you ran into those compatibility issues, I will have to do another pass at this and make sure this doesn't happen again in the next LD! Thank you very much for your persistence though!
@denzil-gomes Thank you very much for playing - and yeah, the balance is really off at times. Especially since it also uses a lot of rng for Cube Attacks etc. And thanks for the ideas for Improvement, that definitely would make the Dungeon Crawling a bit better. I also wanted to add some Loot Drops and Equipment stuff, but that would have only worsened the Balance Problem..
Upgrading feels smooth and enjoyable and the music really sells the atmosphere you are going for. On that merit alone, it already is a great entry.
On top of that, the lighting just is the icing on the cake!
Hey there, I just got around to playing and rating your game! Very well polished, awesome aesthetics! A bit sad that I can't try the Co-Op today, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!
From a graphics standpoint, I really dig the game! I think, that the Transition to combat could be done a bit smoother and it being more in a contrast to the overworld would help with that transition.
Combat itself had me a bit confused as I didn't play HOMM3 (didn't figure out how to attack for a bit) but it seems like a solid foundation and a good tactical game to be made.
Keep at it, cool game!
Cute and short game - just the right thing for a long day at work to wind down. And the cat is just the cutest!
Overall a great looking game - and the characters are varied enough. I think I don't quite get, why it needs to be three different characters being controlled at the same time if they don't have disjointed movement (basically is still the same character doing it)
But I did enjoy my time tinkering around with the Attacks and the movement is feeling really slick, especially the dodge. Definitely something to build upon!
Really amazing how you came up with this. The whole things just genius and I really really REALLY dig the "retro" aesthetics!
Kudos to an amazing game about mental programming, hats off to you sir, you get my trophy!
A short and sweet game - overall it was a fun little platformer with good controls! One thing i didn't like was the keybinding as it conflicts with the QWERTZ keyboard layout - making it difficult to play effectively.
Aside from that, the Sprites were mostly looking great - the last area was a little bit "clashing" with the overall art style but it was not hard on the eyes.
Good work overall, keep at it!
I am total sucker for idle and idle-like games and that game just scratches that itch for me. The graphics are nice and enjoyable and it just feels satisfying to keep digging into both directions and having that huge tree at the end.
At some point i ran out of ways to build up - is that intentional?
Fun platformer - I really like the animations on the main player. The attack looks and feels impactful - altought i think that you should not give his attacks that much of a pushback.
The Sound Design was fitting and i like the effects on the background.
The level Design getting more and more complicated was nice - even thought i was too bad at the game to beat the fourth stage (failing at the boss repeatedly).
Overall a solid entry, keep at it!
Your Chracters? They feel SOOOOOO reminiscent of old SNES Era games. Immediately transported me back in time. Overall the whole game is just really a feelgood game and callback to games of old.
Looking forward to seeing where you are taking it in the future!
That Heartbeat sound really got me. And damn, playing with a touchpad in the Maze section was not fun at all - in a positive way. After reading that it was the panic path, I totally get that feeling. Gave me real life panic coupled with the different heartbeat sounds to get to the exit.
Well done, interesting and intriguing concept!
Fun quirky little game with a hateful ad. The ad is so stupid, (similar to all those mobile games), that I just had to try it.
Gameplay Wise it's a nice take of the auto runner and I enjoy the integration of the different items. It leaves a lot to be experimented with and my first try at devling was not that successful as I didn't quite get the "moving" of items in the beginning.
But I definitely am a Sucker for your choice of music, awesome rendition of a classic track!
Overall well rounded and smooth feedback on the digging. Gameplay was enjoyable and the feedback loop well implemnted. I also like that you can decide on how far you want to take things - but sometimes it felt a bit too random to go forward with.
Overall I would love to play it again after you have iterated a bit on things that other commentators had already mentioned!
You sire, just blew my mind. I definitely will need to take a look at your source code to see, how you handled and managed parsing and scoring those poems - but this was one hell of a ride.
I do say that I enjoy myself a rythm game here and there - but i'm by no means good at them. Starting with Megalovania totally kicked my ass and not in a good way.
But! It's a really polished game, feels great to play and I love the take on the theme. Would love to see that expanded with something like a MP3 parser oder something to play any of my music with it?
So, first of all - god damn, i love the music in your game. The whole thing is oozing atmosphere, from the Goat Main Character to the Artstyle of the levels. And that all topped of by that awesome chip tuney music.
Took me some time to fight the urge to always jump off of ladders and ropes as that would regularily get me killed - but definitely one of the best games I have played this jam so far, very enjoyable, hope to see you up high in the placements!
The game reminds me a bit about my first entry all the way back at LD27. However, your game definitely is much prettier than my game was back then!
Might need some more depth to the gameplay, different upgrades and stuff, but hey, it is a solid entry, well done!
Looking at your profile I noticed, that this is your first game (maybe your first game jam?) If that is true, than let me first say - congrats, you did it! You submitted your first game, be proud of yourself!
Looking back at it, my first game also was a cute platform, and compared to yours, mine had horrible issues when it came to the player controller. Sure, there are things where you can improve (as we can all do), but you will get there with practice! Keep at it and looking forward to playing your next game!
Overall a solid game. Loving the theme with Snowwhite and the Dwarves, and nothing like seeing Snowhite taking an active role in management. The gunplay could need a couple of different tweaks here and there like the direction you are shooting matching with the cursor.
Aside from that, awesome stuff with great aesthetics!
Ah, a Construct3 Game! How was your experience with the Engine? I had been using it for the last two Ludum Dares and quite enjoyed myself with it. Especially the flexibility you have towards working with Visual Scripting and mixing things up in some parts with Javascript.
Overall, I love the nostalgia that your color palette gives me - it reminds me a lot of a old GB game. And the Music was very well done as well! Very awesome stuff, looking forward to your next entry!
Decent game for a compo entry - quite challenging to escape the lava and digging fast enough. Took me quite some time to manage to actually bacome fast enough :dog:
Intriguing find - you don't see board games on here that often. (I would classify it as a classical board game even if you have a online verison on tabletopia).
It is a nice little game, easy to pickup and learn, but something fun to pass the time. Sad to see that people are not interacting with it that much - but I guess having to sign up to Tabletopia is too big of a barrier to get started.
Maybe keep that in mind the next time!
I really dig Rythm Games - well put together. Somehow, the initial calibration for me didn't work as I didn't have any music playing. And Jumping never felt like it would doge the obstacles but barely eclipse them.
But overall i think it was a good entry especially since you made everything yourself, kudos!
Haha, the delivery notices cracked me up - really hitting my humor note. Great game, well done - only nitpick is the usage of the Z key with literal binding to Z instead of location (Works well on QWERTY but not QWERTZ keyboards)
@calicobubbletea just to blow your mind a little bit more - there also is an AZERTY Keyboard layout, mostly used in France i think!
