Great game, but I think I’m he idea is pretty common. But the execution was great, so overall I think it was a pretty good game

Solid 9/10
Dang that music hits pretty hard. nice job! That fight against two bosses was pretty tough, but I did it! Great game!
A very enjoyable hack and slash game. Nice animations, art style, soundtrack and boss design. I had a lot of joy fighting these bosses. I would like the map to be smaller to spend less time walking in empty areas. Great entry!
Awesome game! That music is so good. Really reminds me of classic Mega Man music which is a great thing. The highlight of the game was the two bosses! Challenging but fun
The soundtrack in this SLAPS. The character runcycle is really well done and the controls were tight.
@coolp @hpa97 @sirfist19 @initialposition @100th-coin Thanks for playing our game, we had a lot of fun!
Many thanks @coolp @100th-coin @hpa97 @sirfist19 and @initialposition ! I'm glad you like the game! =D
Great feeling game, Thanks
This was pretty fun! I thought the graphics were effective at conveying going deeper, and the animations were really polished (e.g. the runcycle and attack). The soundtrack was also a total banger and I'm impressed by the sheer amount of music.
It did feel a little weird that there was so much running around in empty space before getting to the "boss" of each level - I get that you wanted to make the player keep going "deeper and deeper", but I'll admit it got a little boring by the end, since there was no variation to the "find the cube and destroy it" loop. The bosses on the other hand were fun and I appreciated the ramp up in difficulty - it felt like I was getting better with each further attempt, which is always a great feeling.
Good job overall!
Fun game. The levels got a bit repetitive but The movement and attacks felt great and very polished!
@michaelyount Many thanks!
@qzqxq Many thanks! Thanks for the kind words on the music! It actually means a lot to me that you think I made a lot of music because the competition seems pretty fierce. I was definitely afraid that I didn't write enough. O__O! Also, I'm really enjoying compositions that I'm hearing from other games that are using more sophisticated software, which I also have access to and am contemplating switching to. It's just that I get such an adrenaline rush from writing music for the 8-bit NES's 2A03 sound chip, which is what I did for this game. It will probably be hard to pry my fingers off of that for some time, heh.
@shone Thanks! We agree that it needed more content. Time constraints and yada yada, heh. We're glad that we really nailed the main mechanics of the game, though. We were envisioning a larger bestial variety, more environmental effects, etc. This was our first game with this group of people and it worked out really well. Maybe we'll be doing the next Ludum Dare.
We have released a MAC build of the Ludum Dare version of the game (meaning no code or asset changes since Monday).
I wish the cubes fought back
Solid action hack n slash platformer right here!
First thing that sticks out that slapping soundtrack, my word it was banger after banger. Serious props to the sound! The second to stick out is that smooth as silk running animation from our main character, great stuff. I would have loved it if we had a jumping animation but that running animation did a great job. I also enjoyed our attack animation, that big ol whoosh slice and a bit of knockback really added weight to the whole thing.
Level design was a bit wonky, I got lost sometimes and just ran into dead ends and had to go back but it was at least only a small set back/small amount of distance to go back. Jumping and wall jumping felt a bit off and I think post jam, tweaking and polishing the movement would make a great base for a longer/fleshed out action adventure hack n slash, or even potentially the groundwork for a metroidvania type deal.
Like you've already said you see more enemies and environments down the line and I think those are all great stuff to have! Look forward to seeing what more work you'll do to this postjam.
Great job and great entry!
Nice short clean platformer. The controls are surprisingly fun. It’s very bouncy, and the wall jumping is unnecessary, but hilarious. The bosses are just hard enough that you have to pay attention to what you’re doing, but not so hard as to be unreasonable for a game jam play through, nicely scoped. Great Job!! Thanks so much for bringing this game by my stream. Here's a link to the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1007852839?t=5h32m42s
This was really fun to play. Loved sound and graphics. From level 3 till the end, it turned a little bit confusing were to go because of the background, but that is just a personal apretiation.
Wow, this game is really cool and stylish, and the music is great too!
This was an interesting game. I love existential space level threats so you got me there. A very creative name, not something I would have expected. You definitely got the deeper and deeper vibe going on, though some of the levels were a bit hard to navigate. I think a slightly smaller scale with maybe a little more challenge in traversal rather than just distance would be good. Also, I'm sure time was your main enemy here, but variety in the boss types would be good rather than just variations on the same thing. The portal boxes were a bit strange too, the hit box wasn't too easy to pin down and I just wanted to get close enough to not take damage and continually attack and I just found it annoying that with every attack I moved away from the cube a bit. Also next time make sure to include a new largest floppy disk ever, I'm expecting at least 2 terabytes or more. XD
Was a lot of fun to play! I didn't really feel the background though. Also the bosses seemed a little easy but overall was pretty good of an experience. Music was amazing!
Cool idea for a game, space gods are always interesting. Control scheme is a bit weird. Enter is a weird button to attack with. Gameplay is alright, gets repetitive when you only have 1 attack and the enemy doesn't change that significantly between levels. Having more variety in the enemies would be nice, but for a jam I get it.
Moving around is fun, and I really liked the super responsive wall-jump. As others have rightly noted, the music is great!
I was engaged enough to complete the game, but found whacking away at inanimate cubes to be fairly dull, I wish there had been other enemy types populating the levels that would maybe pull you away from the cubes and the cube energy would start to regenerate, something to add some more tension.
That said, I still had fun. Nice work!
Fun platformer - I really like the animations on the main player. The attack looks and feels impactful - altought i think that you should not give his attacks that much of a pushback.
The Sound Design was fitting and i like the effects on the background.
The level Design getting more and more complicated was nice - even thought i was too bad at the game to beat the fourth stage (failing at the boss repeatedly).
Overall a solid entry, keep at it!
