Tiny's World by Topaz 2012-04-26T05:29:00
tried to run the game, but oddly enough, even after installing pygame, the game would still tell me it couln'd find pygame (found that kinda odd, and I'm guessing you can't do much to help me there)

a nice concept, but it got tiring fairly fast since you can often end up waiting a lot of time for something to actually come your way.
Interesting concept and execution, a shame there is no endgame though :/
got really confusing after the 1st level
Found a major bug while finally testing the game to full: apparently I had forgotten one line of code that meant that the god would randomly kill people faster and faster as you reached the goal, anyhow, here is a post-release patch that makes it more playable:
http://www.mediafire.com/?bkdfeeh7ccqudb3
ah, yes, for the part killing people while being all innocent, this is a bug I found after publishing the game (the link I put in the comments leads to a version which doesn't have the bug)
as for how to know how to do stuff, the way I made the game was that if you would write help, the game would return what you could do (so if I write help, then it would tell me "do", "train" "build") and then if you used an action plus help, then it would give you the actual choices (let's say you do "build help" then the game would tell you "house", "workshop", etc) In hindsight, I now realise this is a terribly flawed system xP
thanks for the feedback!
aye, thanks for the link, I'll look into it
Reuploaded the game so that it wouln'd contain the package installers, and editted the entry so it would contain links to the installers
you need to have an enemy to attack, and to have an enemy, you must know an island with evil-doers on it (which you find by building bridges and being lucky)
actually, I did make the god more expressive in my post-ludum-dare versions, and also, regarding the priests, I do admit the in-game tooltip isn't completely right, because the way it works, its not because you have a priest that the summon will actually work, its based on random chance on how many priests you have, so 1 priest will no guarantee a success
also, thanks for playing and giving feedback :)
the graphics were fairly nice and the sounds were good, but the platforming was really funky and didn't behave very well
Had the same issue Fireblend had, its a shame though since it looked like a fun game
Very fun game! A little buggy when trying to do games after the first one (the menu was acting weirdly) but otherwise a lot of potential to become a truly great game
got exactly the same error message Madball got
finding exactly how to play the game was not so easy, but once I actually understood how stuff worked, it was a fairly fun game
The game lacked in variety and maybe was a bit too difficult (or I just suck) but nonetheless, nice concept, well-made and fairly fun game :D!
Very solid entry, awesome job!
Very nicely made and and interesting game. Sadly, it did not feel like it applied much to the theme
odd, when I start the game, as soon as I leave the title screen I automatically get game over
Fun game with a neat concept, I was really bad at it though
This game has a really nice concept going for it, and it felt really fun and challenging enough to play :D I do feel a bit sad for blowing up so many planets though...
Not all that confusing once I had read the explanations, a nice concept, but a little on the hard and unforgiving side, its really hard to actually get usage over 0 and not get eaten in 5 seconds
Was funny to play, though the oxygen thing got frustrating and the whole thing felt fairly long after a little while (sometimes the stars would be very far apart from each other)
Being alone to play this sadly undermines the experience, but it appeared fun nonetheless
Great game, pretty neat concept with some pretty fun and challenging levels. Only problem I had was that I found right clicking to be kinda hard to accomplish
Cool concept and cool execution, I was totally unable to do anything worhwhile on the 2nd part with killing the humans, but I'm assuming this is just me being bad at this. Great game!
Yeah, I'll have to rework the game quite a bit before it becomes worthwhile, right now, there are several things that need to be fixed before it is truly enjoyable :/ (*cough* pirates glitched and won't spawn, other fishing ships just hug you to death *cough*)
That was the intent, but I didn't have the time to properly make a half-decent title screen to explain to the player the need for a sail or oars to move :/
Checkpoint would've been useful, the game shold have a more defined goal
I posted an updated JAR with bug fixes, mac/windows/linux should be able to start it by clicking on it or just typing the following in your terminal:
java -jar Factorism-v0.8.jar
And I am currently working on a tutorial + more levels but those links will be posted in the description as not to be taken in account for the Ludum Dare rating.
Real fun, it's amazing you have done all that in web!
This game... is just excellent... like... it's really fun, simple and addictive
Better graphics even minimal ones would've helped
This is pretty solid in terms of visuals and theme and it's got a nice difficulty to it, but it does get tedious after some time. Also, it's great how gameplay and theme are integrated together
Cool game cool idea, at start I tought is was only a black on white easy game but a minute later I died in a plethora of lines and colors! Quite fun!
Other than the fact the controls were a little unwieldy and the collisions a little buggy, this was a pretty solid, immersive little game
thanks a bunch for warning us about it (the game was only tested on mac and windows), we won't be fixing it quite yet since it's so late in the night for us, but hopefully there should be a bugfix as soon as possible
Azerty suppot added, fullscreen added, few bugs fixed, final build updated!
No! you have revealed our evil schemes! As for the spikes, their job is to make you infuriated :D! (you CAN see them... but you have to be reeeeaaaal careful)
Could you be a little more specific? Like what OS you use? Have you tried running directly from the command line?
aye, entrusC, sadly the random generation can get a bit dodgy at times :/ we can't guarantee every maze is solvable, furthermore, there's about 3 times more locked doors than there are keys (you HAVE to be conservative with the keys). Anyhow, big thanks for the feedback!
This is very odd, as the game was tested to work both under Windows 7 and 8, do you think you could elaborate a little on how it doesn't work? Like you booted the game, there was a black screen and you just heard music and then nothing else?
Sadly there isn't xP (we never got around to make a definitive end to the game, you do indeed play random levels every time)
As for the diamond rooms, they actually always spawn on one of the corners of the map. This means every game, there's a 25% chance that the room will be at the same spot as the time before.
This game is probably more fun to play with an other human. HOWEVER, since I had the option to play on my own, I did not get anyone to play with me. It was waaaaay too easy. Most of the time the AI just walked up to a spot and never moved again. Didn't even bother to equip itself. This really killed the gameplay experience for me, I'm sorry to say this, because overall I liked the look and feel of it.
Overall pretty enjoyable! But I have to agree with the others, the game is a bit hard. Never was able to go past the castle (second level I guess?)
Graphics put me off a bit at first but I have grown to really like them, there is a lot of work there! And despite what have been said I really like the way the wizard moves. It seems apropriate for him to be so "floaty". Good little game, just wish the coins weren't so scarce.
Pretty neat implementation of the theme and a fairly fun concept... though sluggish controls and flickery graphics were sadly a nuisance, and the lack of levels was a bit of a downer.
This might be an issue with my laptop track pad, but the clicks were waaaay unresponsive whenever I would activate the time flow. Worked fine during stasis. This made the game pretty much unwinnable for me
Not bad, but I managed to get stuck against two rocks during one of my gameplays, with no way out of it. Takes you out of the gaming mood a bit.
Super addictive! But the hit detection seemed a bit off with certain targets, especially with the swordfish. Probably not a coincidence I always die when the swordfish is the target D:
Oh god, it is so beautiful... the beauty is too staggering! MY EYES, HOW CAN THEY BURN SO MUCH?
I agree with Meep, a video of the game would definitively be nice, since I don't own an Android device :/, but this looks quite interesting :D!
Game freezes every time I die, or this is how the game is supposed to act? Anyway, I enjoyed this quite a bit! Fun and just a bit mindless, best combination for an addictive game!
Solid game! Had quite a bit of fun. My time was really bad so I didn't note though :P. My only complaint would be that combining puzzle and timing can be somewhat frustrating but that's not really a point at all.
Mmmh, it crashes on a stack overflow when I try to run the jar, though the error was not very explicit at all: I might try to run it from source if I get the time. This was on Windows 10 on a shitty Dell laptop.
This is so nice! Really amazing little game there!
TEN OUTTA TEN. The dialog and audio really makes the game!
A really neat concept! Though it was pretty painful to have to restart everytime I made a mistake... especially since astronauts shoot instantly and you die in one hit. Visually it also felt like the planet moving when you jump would've needed some more love. Nice job overall!
Loved it! Played a best of three with my fiance and we were so bad!
The level design and movement really hurt playability for me: Getting around in cramped spaces using this type of movement is really annoying and makes it really hard to do what you want to do. Overall the rest of the game and execution felt nice, it just feels like having twin jet joe in an open space would've made the whole thing much more enjoyable.
