Imaginative idea and funny writing. Gameplay is pretty simple but I almost feel like that's the point from a story standpoint. It was a charming experience for sure.

Just out of curiosity, did you see two distinct gameplay parts @ramble-house-games @quinn-patrick ? I tried to implement a little something (spoiling it would kind of ruin it), but it didn't seem too obvious (some friends of mine tested my game and didn't notice it). So i just want to know if it happened to other players, and if i should have made it more obvious...

Linux players will need to download both the executable and the pck file.

I liked the game and particularly the way the twist played out. One complaint: arrow keys + mouse is a really uncomfortable combination for many common setups, as they both tend to be associated with the right hand. Supporting WASD as an alternative to the arrow keys would have improved the user experience.

Nice entry.

Nice! I enjoyed the colorful and exciting font when I killed the first slime. If there was audio in the game it didn't work for me, but the writing was of course hilarious. Good job. :)

@marcmagus Thanks for the feedback ! I didn't support WASD because i have a french keyboard (the equivalent would have been ZQSD and would be quite uncomfortable to play), i thought of implementing a control mapping menu, but i was not sure if i had enough time to do this, so i kept the arrow keys ...

Nice plot twist at the end, I didn't expect that.

One thing to note. I nearly missed the ending because I typed `ludum` after a line of dialogue told me to, and then assumed there was nothing else to see. I only came back because I saw your comment about there being two distinct gameplay parts.

It would probably be better for your game if it wasn't there, or if the ending came a bit sooner (say, 5 "monsters"), provided, of course, that you want people to find it. It just seems like a pity to me that half of the work can go unnoticed so easily.

The ending fight was surprisingly challenging, everything moved quite fast and the target was really small. Not sure if that's a good thing.

Anyway, humor is definitely a highlight of this game, it was quite fun to read the messages.

Overall, congratulations for finishing, keep at it :slight_smile:

Ok, two things: first of all, great humour in the lines, both by the narrator and by the useless slimes :D Second, thanks to @mvasko2 that made me replay the game to search for the alternative ending, which is really a great twist (and also very funny)! I think this meta level of having to actual mean what the slimes say to reach the real end is awesome, and it's probably ok if not every player gets it (otherwise, if it was too easy it would also probably be trivial and boring).

@clemetayer fair enough on the controls. I noticed another game I played this year used both wasd and zqsd, presumably for azerty support. Something to think about for next jam?

@mvasko2 Thanks for the feedback and advices ! I realize now that it's actually pretty hard to hint a hidden path to the player. I now can see the mistakes i made in order to do this, thanks to the feedbacks, i definitely learnt some things with this game !

@marcmagus Actually, i thought about implementing a control mapping menu. I have heard it's pretty simple to do in Godot, but since i have never done that before, i didn't know exactly how much time that would take, so i kept the arrow keys as a compromise. Definitely something i need to learn for future game jams. (Oh, and there is also this shift+alt technique, but i was scared that too many people would be unaware of this trick).

A simple but original entry! I enjoyed the story and the "monsters"! I certainly missed some sound but awesome entry anyways!

Nice one!

The mix of visual novel at first and simple gameplay on the boss is surprising and pleasing. I expected less when starting but the narration is actually quite good!

The art is enough, but the missing music / sound is a bit sad.

Pretty neat game! Reminded me of games such as "This is not a game". Quite enjoyable to go through. The one thing I thought I should mention, is that when I was told to type "ludum" then restart, I typed "ludum" then closed the game myself. Didn't realize I was supposed to press the "hit" button again :sweat_smile:

Funny enough, I spent a bit of time before the jam looking into control mapping in Godot myself! Didn't end up using it though, our project is 100% mouse clicks XP

@mrpiedpiper I have never played this game, but a friend of mine also told me this, i guess i really should give it a try someday! About the cheat code thing, i realized afterwards that forcing the player to push the button was not a really good idea... That's something i'll keep in mind.
