Good game, reminds me of spore and agario.io. Maybe the pace could be faster (lower required molecules count for another level), especially for a gamejam game

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 09:55

@lil-penguin Really nice input and thank you  Will return the rating ... however - at work right now ... so it'll be a bit later (plan on trying out loads of games :thumbsup_tone1:

And - I really see you point with the Agar.io reference .... does look really similar

:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:

jakobthequizguy 2019-10-07 11:39

Oo I love these kinds of games, eating smaller things and growing. And this one's got properly fleshed out fun gameplay, nice music and sound effects, and even a detailed tutorial with an announcer! I'm impressed, well done!

Also, I'm not sure if you remember me, but you were the first one to comment on my previous entry ^^

pavel-ivanov 2019-10-07 11:39

Cool game, would go great with multiplayer to go with the .io genre!

2019-10-07 11:47

Gooood job!

martynas 2019-10-07 11:59

Looks like we made pretty similar games. Liked the molecule theme!

frank-gevaerts 2019-10-07 12:57

A very nice game. It took me a while to figure it out, but figuring it out was fun, so that's fine :) Graphics and sound are very well done.

webus 2019-10-07 13:14

great graphics, but it stucked when i pushed fiew byns in same time

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 14:32

Still at work.. I'll reply to everyone when I get home - and of course have a look at your games as well :thumbsup_tone1:

:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:

frank-gevaerts 2019-10-07 14:36

At work, the day after LD? What a strange idea! :)

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 14:46

@frank-gevaerts Uh - absolutely .... and I AM relatively tired... but it's what pays the bills :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Ah ... I'm actually happy about my work - so it's all fine

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 16:27

@frank-gevaerts Thank you very much for your input and rating  I have had a look at your entry as well - good job... it's been a million years since I've played text adventures ... It still somehow "works" Have a great day

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 16:34

@webus Thank you very much ... not sure I understand - you said : "pushed fiew byns in same time"?

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 16:41

@martynas Thank you  just left you a comment on your game page

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 16:56

@pavel-ivanov Thank you very much - I am pleased with the level polish I reached (when I compare to previous entries) Just left a rating and comment on your game :thumbsup_tone1:

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 17:06

@jakobthequizguy Impressive memory Jakob - and yes I do remember the game  And thank you very much - this is actually the first of my own entries that I really like.. but then again my game development experience have just celebrated it's 1st birthday so things just take time - and still it's just a hobby

Have a great day :thumbsup_tone1:

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 17:09

@lil-penguin Really great pointers penguin - I was unsure of the speed; people have different skill sets - so too fast might also be a problem  The token count is too high - I absolutely agree ... sometimes you forget that people spend a max of around 5 minutes on your entry (don't remember where I heard that number) Will rate your game when you release  Have a fantastic day

king-kujito 2019-10-07 17:43

I love the depth of this game, the visuals (mainly the font used, font sizes, font colors) and sound leave a bit to be desired. It was great fun playing it though eventually it froze on me (probably missed an error, scan your code for possible null pointers). I think having the volume and/or pitch correlate to your current movement speed will make the most common sound during gameplay a bit more natural. You completed a lot of stuff in a short time, congrats!

scott-armstrong 2019-10-07 22:48

This is a really clean take on the agario formula. The movement is clean and fluid, with satisfying animations. The "map" is circled around you, which is an intuitive way to handle this. It's satisfying to watch your molecule grow, but I'd like to see more animations with the atoms themselves, since right now they just spin in circles. You've already shown you can make fluid and intuitive animations. Like another commenter said, getting 29 atoms takes a while. The difficulty is probably too easy, since the player moves faster than the enemy red molecules even when huge. Had a lot of fun :)

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 22:53

@king-kujito Thanks for the input Kujito - in retrospect I'm not too keen on the fonts either ... but during the night it seemed like theeee best idea  Really good insight with regard to sound on movement ... it was my own first critique when I played the final :frowning: But yeah well - 26 hours... You can only do so much

purpledartfrog 2019-10-07 22:56

@scott-armstrong Thanks for your input as well  At some point I opted out on the animations - and focused on the remaining issues.. but absolutely a valid point :thumbsup_tone1: and yeah 29 is too much- half would have been more than enough... and then more levels if need to be. But again time constraints

@king-kujito oh forgot... yeah - might be a null exception in there... just didn't stumple upon it myself  and don't know... you said "scan for" -... is there an automated process for that? (wouldn't think so)

thepelranthean 2019-10-08 00:12

Thanks for sharing the game. It put an interesting skin around a familiar concept (agar.io, as other have said) and pulls the LD theme in fairly well. I enjoyed flying my molecule around consuming all others. Good job!

adamk33n3r 2019-10-08 00:13

Definitely reminds me of the games that were popular 5 years ago. Loved the audio design and it was definitely fun! Great job

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 00:23

@thepelranthean Thank you very much... and yeah - actually forgot about Agar.io and have never really played it myself... but it does kind of keep to that formula

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 00:23

@adamk33n3r Guessing that'll be Agar as well  And thank you very much... and thank you for playing :thumbsup_tone1:

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 00:24

@thepelranthean ..... ahhhh you were the one with the giant egg plant post

thepelranthean 2019-10-08 00:34

@purpledartfrog Guilty as charged. Though, in my defense, it was meant to be a [pangolin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pangolin) from behind.

Admittedly, now I can't stop seeing the egg plant... so thanks for pointing that out.

Hopefully you don't get too many references to Agar.io as people continue to comment. But on the other hand, you've hit something people like, so that's a good thing.

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 00:37

@thepelranthean Arh - no worries - I knew the Agar thing was something along this line... but couldn't quite remember how it looked exactly... and if we couldn't do anything that reminded somebody of somebody .. well let's just there wouldn't be many entries  And of course your welcome with the egg plant reference

eugsun 2019-10-08 01:24

Fun to play! Loved the sprint movement. Gave me a bit of Heat Signature feel (on a molecular level).

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 01:25

@eugsun Great to hear that  thanks for playing :thumbsup_tone1:

king-kujito 2019-10-08 06:43

@purpledartfrog Nah, I meant scan manually

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 07:19

@king-kujito Yeah - tried building a exception full stack build in Unity... But that one does not crash .... Hope that most can play it ok 💜🎯🐸

voxelv 2019-10-08 08:31

Very cool. It crashed when I was doing really well so that was a bit sad. Not sure why the "UI Added" and "Map Added" were necessary. Well done.

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 08:56

@voxelv Thank you very much - yeah sorry about that - I actually saw a live stream of it where it did the crash ... I could reproduce but only on a build that does not show full stack on exceptions - when it shows full... it does not crash... so trying to hunt down the crash bug..... :slight_frown: and about the UI and map add - it was a spin on the theme... buuuut it does not really contribute to the fun factor - it's more of a gimmick

Thanks for playing

jakobthequizguy 2019-10-08 09:12

@purpledartfrog You're right in really liking this entry of yours, in my opinion it's a HUGE increase in quality from last time! You've improved a lot!

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 09:16

@jakobthequizguy Thank you very much :thumbsup_tone1:

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 09:34

Seems a bit Strange that people don't rate humor ... I get that it would be low... Seeing as it was not the "mood" I went for

shunt 2019-10-08 10:33

Really nice game idea- something that could be modified to even be educational, molecules bonding together. Nice execution with a simple concept that can get quite involved as you play more.

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 10:36

@shunt Thank you very much Shunt :thumbsup_tone1:

themuffinman314 2019-10-08 11:01

Neat ideas and a fun game! I like the molecule theme (especially how the character builds up) and the slow additions of ui and such. I would've loved if you started with even less-perhaps even a blank screen, and even the player would have to be added after a few seconds.

igoreshka 2019-10-08 11:07

Good eat-them-all gameplay) A+ for sound effects  Black mater is true evil.

igoreshka 2019-10-08 11:10

Have some deadly unity player freezes, but F5 saves the situation.

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 11:18

Great great great input from all of you :thumbsup_tone1:

@themuffinman314 hope Gingerbread man hasn't ratted you out .... thanks a million for your input :thumbsup_tone1:

@igoreshka Thank you :thumbsup_tone1: - yeah and the freeze is VERY annoying - however AFAIK ... it does not exist on windows build

hcursino 2019-10-08 12:04

Good game.I would add only the option to turn off the sfx because after a while that humming gave me a headache. But other than that it proved to be quite challenging and fun. I didn't figure out how to avoid the anti-matter though, is it possible?

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 12:49

Yeah found about that sound when it had been released  You should be able to kite by Yding shift on and off aggressively :thumbsup_tone1:

corentin-sabiaux 2019-10-08 13:02

Really impressive for a compo submission, i had a lot of fun playing this :) You add so many features, so many mechanics that it can be a real indie game, ready for publishing on the digital market ahah I used the HTML 5 version and after completed the tutorial, game have crashed but don't worry, just a F5 and it repair it :p To be pernickety, maybe you can add an option for toggle the SFX too ? During a long session, they becoming a little bit annoying :p Good luck for the future !

purpledartfrog 2019-10-08 14:01

@corentin-sabiaux thank you  What a compliment

elnu 2019-10-08 21:03

The game froze after a few seconds, but the music kept playing. Has anybody else had that bug? I'm running on Opera GX.

purpledartfrog 2019-10-09 07:59

@mertios Yes - there is a bug where it sometimes does that - you could download the windows version - I haven't heard thats it's an issue on that build. Have a fantastisc day  :purple_heart: :dart: :frog:

iozsaygi 2019-10-09 09:10

Idea was common but progress was unique. Well done! It was a new taste for a common idea and sound effects were funny. Good job!

purpledartfrog 2019-10-09 09:33

@iozsaygi Thank you  And yes it's a simple concept... needed to be this time around - wanted more polish for this entry :thumbsup_tone1:

lars-erik 2019-10-09 21:58

Loved this. Took me right back to Spore, but with an interesting twist to keep the micro level interesting. Had some adrenaline for a while there. Good job! 😁👍

purpledartfrog 2019-10-10 05:34

@lars-erik thank you very much :thumbsup_tone1: never really thought about spore and can't quite remember it... I'll look it up

purpledartfrog 2019-10-10 07:19

Ahhh - that's rigtht.... this part of it  Cell_stage.jpg

Forgot all about that

kirbloid 2019-10-22 16:12

I dig the style and taking the theme to such a logical but also fun place. Yeah, this has a really nice mood and clean look to it while also playing well!

purpledartfrog 2019-10-23 17:54

@kirbloid Thanks a lot :thumbsup_tone1:  Really looking forward to see the ratings this time around... I feel it's more polished than both my previous entries.. But those were excused... this one should have some level of quality:smile:

xatulu 2019-10-24 14:26

Reminds me of Spore (as said in the comments above :D) Sadly, the performance of the WebGL Version is (at least on my system) horrible. Lots of slowdowns and stuttering - but the overall concept and gameplay is great!

purpledartfrog 2019-10-24 16:49

@xatulu unfortunate with the performance.. Have you tried the windows build? Thanks for the feedback and playing

:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
