LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Overkiller by SubWooferX3 2017-12-07T08:08:16Z

Difficult to play on a laptop without a mouse. Controls felt a bit weird, almost like the game was speeding up and slowing down at different times.

Didn't make it past wave 1, if I had a mouse I'm sure it would've gone much better :)

Haha, died from hunger in a store with its own restaurant. Got some splorgs and stuff.

The camera seemed to be at a less-useful place a couple times, but at least it moves. Perhaps centered on the player would be better?

Other than the several obvious queues (blue sign, tables, serving area), having the restaurant be more visible (red/yellow checkerboard floor for example) would help find it. Also I didn't realize I got hungry so fast. Too focused on getting furniture apparently.

LD45 — Start with nothing

It works in my Chromium browser. I have not tried Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or others. I exported for Linux and Windows (Links in the game description) that you can try (I have no idea if the Windows build works, as I am on Linux). It also works on Firefox on my phone, however it is unplayable without a keyboard and mouse.

I updated the description about making sure the shape is vertically rotated (horizontal doesn't... shouldn't... matter). I'm not sure why it's not working on some browsers. I've tested it on Chrome and Firefox. I've run the Windows executable using wine, and I've run the Linux build all without issue. Clearly I'll have to do some more testing before the next jam to be sure I can get it to run somehow on OSX (proprietary systems make me sad).

@burnedkirby I couldn't reproduce the gimbal lock issue (I swung my mouse far and wide to try glitching it out many times). There is a rotation clamp that is intended to keep from rotating up more than 90 degrees and down more than 90 degrees from perfectly horizontal. Perhaps try moving your mouse either down or up from when you experience the issue (using middle-click)?

@tero-pulkkinen, @djee I've also had the issue where 2 out of 3 tries just gets a black screen. It seems that exporting Godot 3.1 to HTML5 just doesn't work perfectly.

I wanted to get the shape checker working generically (any orientation, any offset) but that's a worst-case O(n^3) problem. I decided to keep the scope down by requiring vertical orientation and centered-ness. Unfortunately that does result in some frustration by players. I wanted to keep it as clean and "literal-adherence to the theme" as possible, so I didn't include any orientation hints (such as a box where the shape must be contained or drawing the axis).

Hungry Hungry Spiders by bendmorris 2019-10-07T03:50:17Z

I also approve of the domain name. Great job on the multiplayer! The background is a bit bright for night-time viewing.

Homie The Homeless by KekkoDude 2019-10-07T04:28:09Z

I was a beggar for 3 days... but then succumbed to the mundanity of it all...

Molecular Madness by PurpledArtFrog 2019-10-08T08:31:06Z

Very cool. It crashed when I was doing really well so that was a bit sad. Not sure why the "UI Added" and "Map Added" were necessary. Well done.

Chemical Horror by The Blue Hatted 2019-10-07T04:08:17Z

I like the grid-based-biology. It seems odd to me that you can place a hand (maybe more than one), a foot (maybe more than one), a flesh, and an eye block in one block. I couldn't figure out how to grab boxes, and I was a bit disappointed that the bombs don't damage the creature. I liked it though, and the scientists watching and the buttons were well drawn. :)

com-bat-ant by falstro 2019-10-08T08:47:31Z

Glad to see you used Godot. Keep it up! :) The movement was very hard to get used to (gravity seemed too high). Many jumps required jumping into the ceiling causing failed jump trajectories (slightly frustrating).

Vacuum by Zerptin 2019-10-07T03:06:43Z

I got to about 206 energy, but the red particles spawned too rapidly and were too fast to be avoided. The background was neat.

Start Of A Galactic Empire by Ruby Interactive games 2019-10-07T04:50:43Z

I really like the planets, but the lighting was a bit too dark. Are they randomly generated? If so, that's impressive, well done, and if not, they're still very cool looking, well done. If I took some time I'd probably be able to figure out the optimal balance of pop-centers, food-production, factories, and entertainment for each planet. The tooltips for what a planet has on it were a bit squished and hard to read. The music was happy, but a bit repetitive. Perhaps a good bass-line would help. Thanks for the mute button :)

Start Of A Galactic Empire by Ruby Interactive games 2019-10-07T05:46:46Z

@ruby-interactive-games Yep! I feel ya! Great job getting it in and the basic game mechanics working. That's something I've struggled with for a long time. Happy Jamming!

In the beginning by djee 2019-10-07T00:50:53Z

A bit short. The glitchy lines between tiles was a bit annoying.

The puzzles felt a little weird. It felt a bit like they could be failed, but they also felt like there was only one thing to do at a time. It seemed like it was zoomed in too far so that I couldn't make a plan. I mostly just wandered around until I got to where I should be. Not seeing the gates open when the buttons were pushed was a bit confusing.

I liked the progression of mechanics from changing color to get through gates and getting "food". The story menu was a bit generic, and I clicked it rather than pressing the "A" button.

A Field of Flowers by KeithSwanger 2019-10-07T02:55:09Z

I made the whole field have grass. That was enjoyable :D I was very sad when seeds fell outside the borders.
