LD46 — Keep it alive

WKAM: Western Keep it Alive Mission by Aggrathon 2020-05-12T11:03:44Z

A few too many clicks perhaps, perhaps something like right click to move by default, and left click to select action if you want something other than move, could be an idea. Or some hotkeys. Either way, love the idea, the little players, the idea with aiming and shooting with the randomness added is a fun take on it. Kudos for going all in with the harmonica :D

Algernon's Flower by bentglasstube 2020-05-11T22:30:10Z

Love the Flowers for Algernon reference :D Game was a little bit too hard for me, but all in all a nice little game :)

Guardian by fashionbatman 2020-05-11T21:41:27Z

I honestly enjoyed this way more than I thought I would! It's a neat little game you got there :D The mechanics are simple enough, but still adds something new to it.

Feed It! by Bernhard 2020-05-08T09:35:25Z

Like the mechanics! I played it all the way to the end :D I feel the gravity might be a bit low, but overall a really nice concept. The audio got a bit annoying after a while, I think the bouncy sounds might have been a bit too loud.

TOTALLY NORMAL GARDENING SIMULATOR by plufmot 2020-05-12T11:35:35Z

Haha, I love the silliness of it, and the sound effects cracked me up. Nyeeeooooom! Good job!

@kierancoppins Thanks man! Yeah, redoing the jet effect was the very next thing on the list that didn't make the cut. The infinite storage is quasi intended - I wanted to limit it to the original amount the planet had, so you could use them for logistics chains (but not infinite storage), but I honestly simply forgot to do that. The visible upgrades to the ship were on the todo list, but weren't quite as close to making the cut like the jet effect was :D

@week-of-the-agents oooh thanks for the tip about the dl=1 didn't know that. I tried updating the links but it doesn't seem to save it for some reason [edit: never mind it was just slow to show the updated links]. It's my first project with Unity - what is the issue with the Canvas? I tried resizing the window and messing with it and it looked decent enough to me, and I didn't bother to look further.

@nimphious Thanks man! I appreciate the feedback! Yeah it's one of the bugs listed on this page - I thought I had fixed it (the camera for the planet UI is moving with the map), but as soon as it got reported I went back to check and apparently in my tired state I had somehow scratched it off my todo list as done despite not being fixed.

theColony by falstro 2020-04-27T15:22:11Z

@gaming-night Thanks for the feedback! And yes, the balancing is off, it's definitely too easy (though I have managed to lose a couple of times by being lulled into false sense of security). ;) I didn't really have time to do a lot of play testing. I think reducing the amount of food and materials overall would've been a good first step.

theColony by falstro 2020-05-12T18:11:48Z

@honey-pony Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, sorry about the soft-lock :see_no_evil: I wrote about it in the "known bugs" in the description, and I haven't had time to fix it. I know I fly through these descriptions when trying the games so I don't think many people saw that note. Definitely needs some balancing too, that's for sure.

Lost Beneath by Honey Pony 2020-05-12T10:43:46Z

Not a huge fan of pixel art personally, but I love the stretching the character does when jumping - a very nice touch! The puzzles were a bit too tricky for me with the low friction, but perhaps they would be too easy for some if the friction/responsiveness was higher, I don't know :D

IT VS THAT by gauss2 2020-05-12T11:08:16Z

Cute little game! The controls are a bit wonky - but I know how hard that is to get right (allowing jumps even when slightly off the platform, or slightly before hitting a platform makes it "feel" a lot more intuitive). Excellent work though, and I like using the game itself as a menu. Took a couple of tries of dying instantly to get a hang of it, but managed to survive like 30 seconds after that ;)

Dodge Rocket by falstro 2022-04-06T04:32:21Z

Thanks @asmadigames ! I was actually rather pleased with the sfx, even they're rather "low quality" (they're sfxr, in case that wasn't clear)

Dodge Rocket by falstro 2022-04-06T04:33:50Z

@1studio there's a minimum height you need to reach to clear the level - however it's not obvious where that height is. Since all the planets fall down, but the "goal line" doesn't, it might seem a little weird. I was thinking about adding a visible goal line or something, but couldn't come up with a good idea for it.
