I got an issue where the game crashes soon after the main menu loads up. I managed to play a bit after retrying a few times though. I presume it's a multiplayer game where your team must have the most pixels on the map? That's interesting.

thejonu 2023-10-03 19:03

Didn't expect to find this gem! Very well executed. I love the idea of three teams battling for superiority.

pikario 2023-10-03 19:05

A collaborative game ! So cooooooool

Team Yellow :v::sunglasses: 🙌

Maybe it will be more interesting if the flags were captured when the majority of the zone around is painted, instead of such a small square

But great idea and great work !

donutshoes 2023-10-03 19:13

Awesome! Excellent use of the theme and great competitive bonus for the jam!

kyle-murdock 2023-10-03 19:27

Dig the colors and the look! Took a minute to get the concept, but really cool!!

willie-the-kid 2023-10-03 19:56

The cover art and the title screen looks amazing and I enjoy that it's a collaborative game!

foursay 2023-10-03 20:15

Team Blueeeeeeeee lets goooooooo

bellicapelli 2023-10-03 20:49

Very nice idea, love to see something like this in a game jam.

My advice would be to update your ldjam and itch.io pages to explain the concept a bit better, it took me a while to understand.

Team red all the way!

treenut 2023-10-03 20:58

cool concept and beautiful art! Was fun to run around for a while, but there was no real incentive to keep going. Would love to see this continued with some sort of territorial defence which could be built up and fought. Keep doing what you're doing!

kenjimarcio 2023-10-03 21:20

Very cool idea!! I love the colors and style

wendel-scardua 2023-10-04 18:13

Loved the art, and it was cool to see the development on stream (even though I was mostly lurking and plinkoing while trying to finish my own game). Finally stopped to check it out luckily the team I chose was already winning :D

One thing I didn't get is what capturing the square areas do... isn't the score just based on the painted areas? Or is it a combination of both?

chitoyuu 2023-10-05 09:25

The art is great. I love it! Would've been even greater with an option to play with bots though. There was nobody else online when I tried it, and it was a bit lonely, but nice game overall!

pauljs 2023-10-05 09:26

Nice take on the r/place! would love to try it when some player are on!

ampo 2023-10-05 09:37

Nice concept and really clean visuals.

I suppose its an online game and everyone plays on the same map ? (I did not see anyone in game but I guess this is what's happening)

Cool experience, good job !

fiordarancio 2023-10-05 09:47

A very well executed game! Awesome art with an old but gold strong concept. Unfortunately I was alone while playing so it didn't come up for a great challenge, but I enjoyed it so far. I'll try later with friends. Some more feedback and in-game tips and features like a minimap navigator could have helped.

Super nice job guys!

lastuck 2023-10-05 11:09

The characters are stunning! I really like this cooperative concept, but maybe it would need some kind of fighting or defense mechanics to make it more engaging

Still great tho!

neeko69 2023-10-07 02:32

Very nice idea for a game!

Yellow peen gang! AHWWOOO!!

pabloabraham 2023-10-07 04:30

Really enjoyed the vibrant art style and the challenge it presented! The keyboard cuboids concept is unique and ties in well with the theme. Navigating the rover was an intriguing aspect and the music complemented the whole experience. Great work on this!

dxk2294 2023-10-07 08:09

Let's go team red!

I agree with some of the other commenters that this was a little confusing at first - especially coming at it later in the jam without any other players. Would have loved to see a little writeup explaining the game on this page. Still, nice job!

honest-dan 2023-10-07 10:37

Hey @coleslaughter - tried to play but like a post above, I got a crash shortly after selecting a team :(

wendel-scardua 2023-10-07 13:10

@honest-dan the Windows version is known to be crashing (it says so there with the link), but the web version seems to be working fine (I came back to check how the best team - Yellow - was going :) )

javasaurus 2023-10-07 21:00

I absolutely love the flying and painting game! It's such a unique and enjoyable experience. The concept of soaring through a vast map while trying to paint it with your colors is not only fun but also oddly satisfying.

What makes this game even better is its team-building aspect. Playing with friends and working together to conquer the map adds a fantastic social element to the game. It's a great way to bond with friends or even build stronger connections with colleagues. Innovation category winner.

redoxeide 2023-10-07 21:59

Nice job! I love the art and really enjoyed the map painting. So satisfying!

Only thing I would like to see is a live(ish) tracker of how all teams are going during gameplay if possible.

pious 2023-10-08 03:13

Really well done! Such a cool concept and every jam needs one of these, glad to see you guys do something like this. The art and models are wonderful. Although something should explain the concept, either the LD page or something, as I was wondering if there was anything else to do. I believe something that could've minimally enhanced the experience was some sort of minimap for the chunk you were on perhaps? Orient yourself on the map as well as see what spots you missed. Either way, fantastic entry and great work! (Go Team blue!)

simex 2023-10-08 14:36

as I told you on stream, yellow is going to win this!

hawkin 2023-10-09 21:52

I can only imagine the technical machinations behind the screen to get this sort of massive shared state up to date. Well done! And the world that the Rudds created simply through art really gave some soul to technical foundation. I want to know more about these factions!! Maybe time for some faction fan fiction?

At first, I yearned for some form of automation, sending out a personal bot army to cover the landscape. Then I realized that _I_ was part of that bot army ... I approached a meditative state as I painted the board blue and roamed in search of new spawn zones to recapture for the falcons. It would be interesting to see how the game could expand with some type of risk.

Definitely a cool experience, and surprisingly not-weird!! Let's go BLUE!

honest-dan 2023-10-14 08:26

Hey! Very ambitious game for a jam, love games that can get people playing together. So when I started, entire map was yellow, but I came back as blue with a mission. I actually wasn't sure how to start, it was like a top down view and I think I needed to click somewhere but I couldn't see anywhere. I ended up clicking and maybe dragging somewhere and it then moved me somewhere to actually start playing. but then I was free to roam! Bringing back blues reputation after too long of yellow dominance. I am grateful I only had to complete X% of a little grid to claim it! Once I completed one, I wasn't sure which way to go to get another. I could press esc to go back to menu which worked, but disjointed the session a bit. But once you know the general layout of them it wasn't required. I was alone I think, but I imagine having some points of interest / competition could be interesting. Like special things to claim that give you speed boost / wider coverage for X amount of time. Gives people reason to go to different locations in the map and to encounter other players. Had you considered ways to build on this? Also realise playing solo on the map prob wasn't the intended "way to play"

keely-brown 2023-10-16 01:13

Character art/art in general was *chefs kiss*. It's a little hard to gauge the game when other people aren't on - particularly with such a big map. I feel like a smaller playing field may have worked better for how many people on average were going to be online, but I also get that the point is for it to be a control the map sort of deal. Multiplayer is very impressive for a game jam game.

trexxak 2023-10-19 16:38

Cowboys! Hi! Sorry for missing the streams, take this as a "substitute":

https://youtu.be/vnaBIZb2ubs

The designs of the characters and rovers are amazing, and I can tell the code must've been a horror o: Kudos!

thenbcorpse 2023-10-20 07:08

Really really neat concept, very innovative and relaxing. Managing to get something like this working in only 3 days must have been tricky, well done! It runs very well and I didn't encounter any issues.

Go team blue!

seb-degraff 2023-10-20 21:35

Anything multiplayer is impressive for a game jam, let alone synchronising a giant image! What I really missed was some kind of hud showing the score in-game, so I can see how it's evolving. Not too sure how it fits the theme, the map was pretty big, but you have to paint in "limited spaces" I guess? Great job on the tech, visuals and music side!
