Great game, quite addictive. At times wasn't really sure how my shop upgrades were changing things, but I just brought stuff and went deeper and it was great fun. Key minigame is surprisingly hard!
@5mixer Thank you! I wanted to add an inventory list which showed what each item does, but didn't have time. The shop keeper sort of tells you what they do but it's easy to miss.
Reel = increases max length
Rod = increases total weight you can hold on the hook (more and heavier fish)
The weight = increases sink speed
Hook = increases the amount of money you get per fish
Magnet = increases catch radius
Gun = protection against stuff far down

oh man this is incredible. one of the best LD games i've played in a long, long time. you *nailed* the fun factor for me, getting into a groove with the patterns for each fish is soo satisfying. the upgrade progression is great, the game is super funny, sound effects are punchy and nice, music fits well. everything about this is wonderful! incredible work.

By far the best game I have played this jam. "Juice" on the arrow mashing is my favorite part. Fun collection of mini-games. Reminds me of ridiculous fishing (Vlaambeer). Great job.
Hoho, this was a great treat! I got hooked pretty fast (no pun intended) and I just couldn't let go! I usually spend like 5 minutes max when I play jam games, but this one had me for over 30 minutes! I managed to pay back my debt in 25 days and upgraded everything to the max! Great feeling with the mixed mechanics, and I sure had to work my fingers to collect them eels as fast as possible! A great entry to the jam! Cheerz!

A really strong submission, its fun and a very unusual concept! The progression feels fair and its clear which leads to a relaxing gameplay itself

@sawtan Thank you, and I'm glad you got out of debt! I was planning on adding an item that killed multiple fish at a time when you got combos, but didn't have time. So now you just get carpal tunnel syndrome in the endgame.
@humanisred Thanks and cool that you enjoyed it! I didn't have time balancing the total days of the game, so it's pretty hard to lose (it's sad because nobody will see the game over screen), but I'm glad it's still a fun game!

Super fun but gets a bit repetitive after too many days. I think half the days would be about perfect for me.
Basic fishing simulator but funny buy smashing fish
Absolutely fantastic! This is a game I'm going to tell my friends to play. Had a blast. You gave a generous amount of time for each fish, and yet I still felt the urge to beat them up as fast as possible. The combos just felt that good to hit. I had the money 1 day earlier but I saw something at the bottom. Had to play one more day to catch it.Screenshot 2021-04-27 175605.png
Very fun game! A little repetitive but I was able to pay off my debt in about 20 days (18mins). The sounds and art all worked well together and made for an enjoyable experience! Great job!

@evil-as-shit Thanks! Yeah I agree it gets quite repetitive. I had planned on having a fishing encyclopedia item, which would simplify and change the fish patterns, plus a combo killing item. I'll add those if I do a post jam edition :)

@0x746564 yeah I know right! It always starts with trying to get a bigger snapper than your neighbor, and ends with the mob throwing you into a lake with concrete boots. Such is life.
I want to fix that repetitiveness if I do a post jam game, but I'm glad you liked it anyway. Thanks for playing!

As for constructive feedback I think there could be some more fish variety and gets a little bit repetitive by time.

Wish I played this game during the rating period for this jam. Amazing. I actually kept fishing for several days even after getting enough to pay my debt just because I wanted to successfully get that big guy at the bottom. An awesome experience. Great work.
