Within Yourself by impiaaa 2021-05-11T17:26:29Z

I loved the concept of sokoban but inception lol. Wasn't easy, but wasn't too hard for a jam. A really interesting idea that might be worth exploring is actually pushing around the smaller inception rooms to make a puzzle sequence. That would be ssuuuuuper cool.

If your interested, here's where I played it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1018587431 we started yours around 00:33:50ish.

The Limbo Runner by jk5000 2021-04-26T05:58:52Z

This was wonderfull. The wonderfully silly idea plus the goofy voice and model work make this a really memorable entry. I only wish I could get back into the game more quickly when I fall over. Maybe hitting the spacebar could skip the intro for the round? Idk. But overall, really well done.

Aquarial by AidanMarkham 2021-05-11T17:35:59Z

I'm going to share this game with my sister, she'd absolutely adore this lol. Everything about this was gorgeous and incredible: the graphics, the art style, the polish, the detail, the jokes, everything was absolutely on point. I did find that fine movement controls were a tad tough when approaching NPCs, but because you can interact with them from a ways off its not really an issue.

If you're interested, here's where I played it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1018587431 starting at about 00:43:00ish.

Adelie - Rolling in the Deep by Meep 2021-05-10T02:53:20Z

I LOVED this game. Everything was polished so brightly it shined like a pair of shoes. I honestly don't know what to tell you to improve it, I had a ton of fun with it. So much in fact that I'm gonna go play some more right now!

Anatomically Correct Human by Evan 2021-04-26T06:22:04Z

This was quite a funny one. It took me a couple tries to figure out how it worked, but when I did it ramped up quick. I found the optimal strategy to pretty much just spam brains, but it was still really cool with some great art. Awesome job!

DESERT BUS 2 LETSGOOO! by homeworld 2021-05-11T03:00:15Z

Being totally honest here, I played this game with a massive egg on my face. The scope, polish, and quality of everything made me suspicious that this was not a jam game but some rando submission. Of course I was wrong lol. Sorry to make that assumption of your game :(

Being so great it literally fooled me that way though says a ton. You guys achieved so much and it must have taken a ton of coordination from such a large team, and that's super impressive.

I would say that it felt a bit difficult for a smol-brain as myself, but when I'm playing games that's to be expected lol.

If you're interested, I played it on stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1017517813 and we played it at about 1:48:50 ish

Great job guys!

Search and Resque by Hilvon 2021-04-26T06:46:28Z

This was a cool application of marching cubes. I liked digging around looking for the panels and miners underneath the dirt. I would have liked to be able to dig a bit faster though. Great work!

Drill Through The Earth by AltTabber 2021-05-13T19:22:23Z

What do you mean graphite on the ground in the rubble? You didn't see graphite.. It's not there!

Fr tho, this was a really cool idea! The lighting and models were super well done, and the mechanics were super unique.

Masseuse you Loose by ColeSlaughter 2021-05-10T03:14:14Z

Super funny experience whose intense speed and challenge pushed me to insanity. My wrist forgives you, but my keyboard does not lol. Wonderful work!

Tooth Toss by MadNukin 2021-05-10T03:09:20Z

There's so much to love here. The feel of the game is completely on point, and the tooth throwing mechanic is just so good. The bosses are tough but not at all impossible, and the art and sound is wonderful.

Of course, as others have pointed out (and as I experienced on stream), soft-locks are easy to come by if you throw your tooth too high. Some others have made some good sounding suggestions to fix that, and I agree with them.

Ultimately though, some great work from your team!

Fade by Jeremy Ryan 2021-05-13T20:43:14Z

This was absolutely gorgeous work, especially for the compo! As I'm not familiar with rhythm games I, like others, found it super difficult. Luckily for me though, I had a friend who is super familiar with them as I played it, and he was able to finish it in one go! The story was moving, the art gorgeous, and the music absolutely stunning!

If your interested, we played it on stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1020802507 starting at about 01:00:00ish.

Graverobber by Daniel Alhadeff 2021-05-13T20:05:43Z

This one has a pretty nice combat mechanic! The particles and lighting was very pretty looking. It had a few bugs, but it was still a cool game!

Here's where I played it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1020802507 starting at about 00:40:00ish.

Krakonsequence by JudgeZedd 2021-04-28T15:55:18Z

I really liked The color changing to indicate your health, it was a cool touch! Though, an additional sidebar somewhere to indicate actual health would've been great because it was a bit hard to judge just how much health I had left. (Maybe there was one somewhere and I just missed it.) I also would've like healthbars (or some other damage indicator) for the rigs and ships, since it was difficult to judge their health, too. But overall, SUPER polished and well executed especially considering that this was for compo. Amazing work!

Space Dig by Lawrence 2021-04-26T03:50:19Z

Very tightly knit experience, I liked this a lot. I would say that the fragments of astroids caused me issues even during the tutorial though. Nothing gamebreaking though. Well done!

Marbellion by acronaut 2021-05-10T02:38:53Z

This game was a joy to look at and listen too, though as myself and others have pointed out, it could use some help with the camera. I appreciate though that you let us use either a keyboard/mouse or a gamepad. That would help a lot of people out! Thanks again for your entry!

Down the rabbit hole by bbaf 2021-05-11T02:10:21Z

This was hilarious, I loved it too much. Based on some of the comments I see you're handling a lot of the issues I experienced when I played, so that's great news!

Great work guys!

Dokiss Space Explorers by R2D48 2021-05-11T17:17:34Z

This one was pretty cool! It had lots of interesting parts to it. I would say it got to be a bit samey after the first dozen or so planets, and I was never able to succeed in mining once. That being said it was a cute and funny game!

If your interested, here's where I played it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1018587431 we started it around 00:11:30ish.

DeBlockhas by Sode 2021-05-11T18:34:42Z

This is a really great attempt at working outside an engine on a game. I've only done it once and it took me about a whole week to make something of similar scope lol.

As others have pointed out, it would be great if the obsiticles would be snapped to the grid the same way the player is. It would make it much easier to judge whether you'll hit or miss an obstacle.

Here's where we played it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1018587431 starting at about 2:00:30ish.

Submergence by TomekS 2021-04-26T03:32:06Z

Some really neat graphics here that were really smartly constructed. Beautiful effects and a wonderfully soothing track. Amazing!

Madman - The Crazy Scientist by mudlee 2021-04-26T06:33:38Z

This sounds really cool, but unfortunatly I wasn't able to figure out how to launch the game. I've worked very little with Java, so it's probably just ignorance on my part lol. A brief guide on getting it running would be appreciated!

Madman - The Crazy Scientist by mudlee 2021-04-26T06:55:06Z

@mudlee Sure!

Madman - The Crazy Scientist by mudlee 2021-04-26T20:04:46Z

@mudlee The new build launches properly for me now, but unfortunately when I try to move with WASD the character seems to walk in place and doesn't move. It seems reeaaally cool though. When a person walked by me on the side walk I still managed to hypnotize them, and the sounds and dialogue and everything associated with it was suuuper cool. Let me know if you need any extra information regarding the movement issue though.

Madman - The Crazy Scientist by mudlee 2021-04-26T21:27:14Z

@mudlee YES, I do use a 144hz monitor. I'll try it on my other screen.

loading... by PopDaddyGames 2021-05-11T18:14:09Z

This one is particularly well crafted. The visuals are beautiful, voice acting impactful, and the mechanics are in total servitude to the story and mood of everything. Stunning work.

The one real gripe I have regarding this game mostly stems from the fact that I'm an Ebenezer Scrooge. For game jams in particular, I expect experiences that won't take much longer than 10 minutes to complete. This game, however, uses the deepness of space and tough controls to drive the emotion of hopelessness, which while done very very well, made the experience drag on for nearly an hour.

Here's where we played it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1018587431 starting at about 00:59:00ish.

Super well done, guys.

Minball by Pizzasgood 2021-04-26T05:44:07Z

This was really enjoyable. Never before have I, in a pinball game, defeated a big alien boss and literally went to space. Super cool!

Fish Fists by BBApps 2021-05-11T02:04:44Z

What a fun little game! There's litteraly nothing to possibly be upset about here. I loved everything from the art to the sounds to the infinitely inflating combo! Never had I had so much fun beating up such innocent looking fish. And the ending was just too good, absolutely lovely. Great work!

I played it on stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1017517813 starting at about 1:03:30 ish

Minecart Excavation by Falzock 2021-05-12T19:20:51Z

This one was cool! I liked the sounds and music a ton. I found a glitch that let you mine several blocks with one swing, but tbh, I kinda liked doing it lol. It's one of those bugs that could be a feature.

If your interested, I played it on stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1019553157 starting at about 00:11:30ish.

Power Station Beta by Dock Frankenstein 2021-05-11T19:23:26Z

Great job here! I love games that scratch the Portal itch lol. The puzzles were great, voice acting and writing was really interesting. The model of the power station thing looks insane too. Sometimes the mechanics were'nt quite clear, but I managed to finish it still.

Here's where we played it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1018587431 starting at about 2:13:30ish.

Deep Dungeon Tactics by Aditya Kumar 2021-05-10T02:32:31Z

This was a really cool game! It looks for sure like a ton of technical work went into it and I'm super impressed by it. Unfortunately, as a smol brain, I had a real tough time getting through just the first level. Really tight otherwise! Great work!

Bubbly by Kaish 2021-05-11T01:44:48Z

Well done entry! It was a great way to start off a stream. The game is tough, but the way it lets you try again instantly is much appreciated. The graphics and sounds are tied wonderfully together, and the gameplay kept me constantly on my toes. Here's the stream where I played the game:

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1017487693

We started yours around 0:16:50

Congrats on your entry!

Swab the Deck! by dans17 2021-05-10T02:50:59Z

I loved everything about this game. The graphics were gorgeous, the sound and music was wonderful, and the gameplay was fun and kept me on my toes.

I know I had a bit of an easy time with it when I played it on stream, but that might have been just because I didn't make it super far before I had to move on to the next game for time. Even if that wasn't the case, it's great that you leaned into making it easier rather than harder especially for a jam.

I think I would also say that combat might need to be a bit slower. I got to a point where I was regaining energy so quickly I could essentially start spamming out everything in my hand. Maybe there could be a way of making some cards like the barrels of rum used only once in a fight per copy or something. Just a thought!

Sleepwalker by Duncan 3 2021-05-12T19:37:39Z

This one was super cool! I loved the puzzle mechanic. It reminds me a bit of Titanfall 2's 'Effect and Cause' mission, but with beds to go into the other dimensions. Super super cool.

Here's where we played it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1019553157 starting at about 00:26:30ish.

Bomb Miner! by Parsafari 2021-04-26T04:40:44Z

Hey man, the screenshots look really cool, but when I click the link to the itch page it brings up a 404 Error. You might need to go back and check that the link is working properly!

Bomb Miner! by Parsafari 2021-04-26T06:10:54Z

No problem! I just finished giving it a go. It's a really sleek and polished take on minesweeper. I would say though that I didn't see too many differences mechanically between this and normal minesweeper other than the coins you collected occasionally. The presence of the coins didn't really influence my desision-making ingame because they were hidden from the player until collected. You've got a strong foundation though, and it was still an enjoyable time!

We Must Go Deeper by Vederant 2021-04-26T05:19:07Z

Honestly, SOO cool. It's a really neat and interesting mechanic paired with a really good aesthetic and presentation, and a really cool ending. Very well done, top marks.

Resurface by anchorlight 2021-05-13T21:03:55Z

Man, this was too good! There are some QOL and some level wierdness here and there, but it was honestly a pretty solid experience. It was especially fun hanging out with you on stream!

Speaking of, here's the VOD of when we played: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1020802507?t=02h17m00s

PANEMUAN by etrealjunior 2021-05-10T00:51:06Z

I enjoyed this a lot! The art style was unique and consistent, and you had a real message behind it. I would say that if you hadn't let me know about the flowers during the stream I probably wouldn't have noticed them, but I'm glad I did! Great job!

The circuit by AdamsMcCall 2021-04-26T03:58:29Z

Veery cool. I enjoy circut building games like this, but I haven't seen one that introduced something of an IC into the mix! Really really cool.

Highly Successful Research Submarine by James Macgill 2021-05-11T01:59:03Z

This one was really great! It's a nice mash of a ton of different styles. As we discussed on stream, I recognize you didn't finish everything you wanted to, but that's ok! You got a ton done and learned a whole bunch.

Other than the bugs and unfinished stuff, some suggestions I'd give would be to speed up the early game. I spent a lot of time trying to get enough money for my first room. After I unlocked the second area, it went far faster.

I noticed also that there were at least 3 different games going on at once here. One was a base builder, another was a camera game, and another was an overcooked-like. This is a cool thing, and it's impressive you got it all done in time, but in the future you might want to trim down the number of systems you want to implement so that you have one core gameloop you focus on. It will help you make a more polished experience for your next jam!

Hope something in there helps :D

Because of those technical difficulties we had on stream, yours is the very first game we played in this stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1017517813

Congrats guys!

So Below by metadept 2021-04-26T04:57:14Z

This one's got some neat stuff going for it! I liked the models and the sparse lighting, and especially I'm grateful there weren't any jump scares lol. Great work!

LD48 - Just Breathe by Geniye 2021-04-26T20:45:43Z

I liked the menu screen a lot, as well as the graphics, sounds, and models. It was all really well done. It was just really tough to do anything without exploding. I was at times able to keep myself alive when I was doing nothing but standing still, but I wasn't able to complete any tasks. It's a really neat idea you have here!

HELL deep is your love? by Villanelle 2021-05-10T01:01:15Z

This was a fun one! I had a ton of fun on stream even though I died a bunch. I know we discussed this issue some during the stream, but my primary criticism is the confusion around whether to hit 'space' or 'w' for jumping and grabbing. Typically in platformers the two are basically interchangeable, so it was confusing to me as I played. As we discussed during the stream though, I understand the difficulties of making them interchangeable. Just something to think about, and maybe a neat UX challenge to take on lol

Ludum Dare News Network by SecretJuice 2021-04-26T04:15:22Z

@pixelportalz Hey, I'm sorry about that. I guess I misunderstood that the thing Unity exports isn't plug and play with Linux. I'll work on exporting it correctly right now.

I hope you give it a chance when I get it sorted out!

EDIT: There is a live Linux version now, though I can't test it. Also, because I'm using the Microphone API, I don't think I can port it to WebGL or MacOS without a bunch of extra tinkering. Sorry if that keeps anyone out!

Ludum Dare News Network by SecretJuice 2021-04-26T07:15:31Z

@mudlee Right now there's no Mac build because in order to use the Microphone API in Unity you have to find certain permissions somewhere to let the user authorize it. Right now I don't know how to make that work. Since you're expressing interest though, I'll look into it a bit harder. Thanks for getting excited for it!

Ludum Dare News Network by SecretJuice 2021-04-26T19:12:43Z

@john-gabriel Noice lol :ok_hand:

Ludum Dare News Network by SecretJuice 2021-04-27T08:00:00Z

@mudlee Good news! I theoretically have a macOS build live on itch.io now! The link to it might not show on the LD page but it is indeed live on itch. As I don't have a mac idk whether it works, but let me know if you see any issues. Thanks for your interest in the project!

Ludum Dare News Network by SecretJuice 2021-04-27T15:54:51Z

@mudlee Oh no! I'm sorry about that mishap there. I just uploaded a possibly fixed version. Like I've said, I'm unable to test it internally so I can't be 100% sure it works. Hopefully it pans out better now!

Ludum Dare News Network by SecretJuice 2021-04-27T19:50:36Z

@mudlee Well, I'm glad you went through all that effort and I really appreciate it. I'm sorry it didn't end up working out. You're game was sweet btw!

Ludum Dare News Network by SecretJuice 2021-04-30T20:51:24Z

@jitspoe Thanks for playing it on stream, I enjoyed seeing it! I can't say I've seen a fart ripped into it, but I would say a lot of test runs involved pretty much shoving the mic into my mouth, and that produces pretty decent scores lol

Made in Madness by AtosGame 2021-05-11T03:20:54Z

You've got a neat little project here! I'm glad you guys came out to participate in the jam! I found some things that could use some improvement, but overall you guys got a lot done! A big thing I'd suggest that will help you improve your games into the future would be to learn more about how to make platforming controls that feel really nice. There's a fantastic video I'll link you too by Jonas Tyroller who goes over a ton of useful stuff regarding platformer controls:

(The title is a bit provocative, but it is very good info)

https://youtu.be/vFsJIrm2btU

Great job guys!

Rabbit Rappel by MatterLinx 2021-05-11T02:41:56Z

Super well polished game. Some of the level design was rough difficulty wise, but after getting used to the rappeling and shooting I was able to get through it. Aesthetically, everything from the sprite work to the lighting to the music was absolutely gorgeous. I wish you luck as you work towards a steam release!

Here's the stream where we played it: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1017517813 starting at about 1:28:20ish

Paragon by LakshyaIsAGod 2021-04-26T07:11:33Z

It reminded me of the falling maps in Minecraft! Really cool idea, if a bit rough on the edges.

Through the Anthill by nessie 2021-04-26T05:05:01Z

This is really cool! I love that you have the ability to break walls and pay energy to walk through them. That's a really clever decision I've not seen before! I also appreciate that minimap a lot, it would've been tough without it. I noticed one time though that I was able to give multiple leaves to a particular dropzone, it didn't seem like that was intended. Really cool!

Deeper & Deeper by Ironicnet 2021-04-26T04:09:00Z

Very nice for just a couple of hours work. I liked the simple yet characteristic sound effects. The controls were a tad tough, but I was able to beat it. I would say I was able to kinda get the characters to fly by moving them and spamming the spacebar, but it at least was really fun finding that out!

Beepo's Shop by itsBoats 2021-05-11T20:04:57Z

I think this is already ready for a mobile release. If you wanted to monetize it, you could have people buy a revival after death or maybe just watch an ad or something. Or don't, either way is respectable. Seriously well polished, and I always love the sleek, minimalist art style. The movement twist on motherload is super clean and mentally engaging and requires the player to plan their routes in a stimulating and satisfying way. Superb job, sir!

LD55 — Summoning

A Heavy Crown by OddballDave 2024-04-16T04:22:40Z

I loved the varied and unexpected scenarios... My first playthrough felt really straightforward, "pick the one that does the thing in this circumstance". But my second playthrough I picked different ones and was really surprised and entertained by some of them, especially with the jester.

The only thing I'd suggest is ending the game by helping the player know what kind of impact their choices had. Maybe just display your ending points just so we can see them, that would help a lot

Great work! I really liked it

The Ritual by stmatn 2024-04-15T15:06:50Z

This was a really cool entry! At first all the new stats and info felt confusing, but after completing a couple phrases things made way more sense. I'd say that the effect of the Fish Man and Celestial vampire wasn't quite clear to me, as they seemed to add way more mana/blood than I expected them too (like, my first or second phrase summoning the sleeper i used the fish man spell with 8 or so active mana and no blood (i think) and I expected to get 16 but ended up with 200 something somehow haha)

I had a couple moments where I was on my very last spell in the phrase or I was sitting at 6 corruption where I was like "I just need 1 more mana!" or something, then ended up getting it haha, that felt really good

Overall, really well done

Summon Traffic Controller by Ben Albert 2024-04-15T15:46:16Z

A fun, hectic entry! Well done!

A couple notes: - I found the throwing mechanic a bit inconsistent, i think usually it had to do with the distance feeling off from how far I was moving the mouse. I'm not exactly sure what it was. - I thought the difficulty jump between level 3 and 4 was pretty high. Maybe that's just me though.

Great work!

Heroes of Keys & Kingdoms by NBumgardner 2024-04-17T05:39:29Z

DANG, this was cool! Definitely a brain tickler, but it was super fun and well presented. The art was great, difficulty curve felt fair, everything really just felt right with this one. Really really well done.

The only thing I found was that initially, before I realized I could use letters that weren't given, I got a bit frustrated because I struggled finding words without many vowels given to me. Maybe a bit more communication about that? I also found that letters like Z and V were just so hard to use anywhere, maybe you could experiment with giving different letters different likelihoods of spawning. (That could be an interesting avenue to explore when thinking about difficulty settings, too)

Congrats on this thing! It was a special one

CANDYMAN VS MEGACOPS by ValentinWB 2024-04-16T13:42:08Z

Vuno: The Adventurer's Log by Mohammed Kapiel 2024-04-15T22:37:59Z

Thanks for the game! It was a bit confusing gameplay wise, and being able to summon things directly into the cemeteries made it pretty simple to cheese, but there was clearly a lot of effort put into this!

LudumDiarrhea55 by Yochti 2024-04-15T15:24:13Z

I'd also say it was really tough to make progress on it. It doesn't help that my laptop's keyboard has weird arrow keys haha, but still things move too quickly and deal too much damage to let you get to your first ally.

I also found that there was a inconsistent time delay between dying and displaying the score board. I feel like I would have made way more attempts at it if that delay was short and consistent, like 2 seconds or so between death and starting again

Otherwise though, congrats on your first compo!

Shadow Seeker by Xdroid101 2024-04-16T00:30:10Z

Thanks for fixing it! This was a neat entry! I loved the art and the animations, and I liked the boss at the end. Most of the gameplay was pretty repetitive, but I still enjoyed it! Great work
