Really reaelly nice, both graphic and audio are perfecly done :) The lighting of the spotlight are spot on :):):)

liammasters 2021-04-25 20:37

The music is great, very relaxing. Love the lighting effects. It gave me some ABZU vibes.

oeschmid 2021-04-25 22:50

The art for the submarine is fantastic :) going around catching fish was fun!

redspine 2021-04-26 00:05

Really cool music and tone. It felt weird at first, then I got completely immersed :P The art is gorgeous. Such a shame I’m so bad at navigating the vessel. I felt sad being prompted countless times we had to buy a new one because of me :’)

I love the visuals in your game and it's really fun

secretjuice 2021-04-26 03:32

Some really neat graphics here that were really smartly constructed. Beautiful effects and a wonderfully soothing track. Amazing!

tim77 2021-04-26 03:33

You have the basis for a sweet game here. I retried several times because I wanted to see different fish! It's a neat gameplay hook (pardon the pun) to silhouette the fish types up at the top... it made me want to find them! I only saw 1 type of fish though. That leads to my first point of constructive criticism - with such a slow vessel and inherently slow gameplay, perhaps you need to have the different fish types appear sooner?

At first I thought I was playing a 2D game - it was neat to notice that in fact the surrounds were in 3D, and my vessel too (only visible once I crashed into something though as I seemed to rotate around the Z axis somewhat)! I would say that the map is too close in color to the background - it wasn't always easy to see what I could collide with and what I couldn't. I wasn't sure why my vessel was destroyed by the bubble stream thing. Maybe something to signal it's dangerous?

I'm not a fan of canned choir sounds in music, but actually, it suited the overall pace and vibe of the game.

Well done and keep up the good work!

Also - any game with some boid behaviour gets a +1 in my book... ;)

welby 2021-04-26 03:40

i really wish i could play this. The effects and environment look rly great with the music sounding nice, but it runs at about 5 frames a second on the WebGL on my laptop :'(

kristinamay 2021-04-26 03:43

This game looks lovely and I'd really like to play it, but I can't figure out how to control my vessel. No matter what I press, I just fall straight down to my doom.

adamsmccall 2021-04-26 03:43

I had some cool vibes with this game. Really nice art, and the controls of the vessel felt good as well :ok_hand:

tomeks 2021-04-26 03:50

@kristinamay be sure to click on the game window, sometimes it looses focus, then just arrows or WSAD.

adrocodes 2021-04-26 03:51

I quite enjoyed that! The music is nice and relaxing. I liked the small touches like the propeller turning as you move. Well done!

tomeks 2021-04-26 03:51

@welby Sorry to hear that, which system you run? I might add dedicated build. Tried to optimize in the little time I had, maybe resizing the window down will help? it already runs in 960x800 you dont go full screen do you?

tomeks 2021-04-26 03:53

@tim77 thank you for the comment. the stream just pushes you in the direction, you must have had hit the wall while being accelerated, I tried to pay attention so all colliders are in place. And you don't want to know how much time I spent on boids :( haha

tomeks 2021-04-26 03:55

@liammasters thanks for the comment I haven't heard about ABZU before, thanks for pointing that out

ian-kettlewell 2021-04-26 04:24

Love the visuals and audio. The particle effect bubbles and the fish schooling are particularly great. The lighting is also quite well done.

Great job!

welby 2021-04-26 05:01

@tomeks i couldn't get it to run on Google Chrome but it runs fine on Microsoft Edge for some reason lol, i rly enjoyed it thank you. :D

tomeks 2021-04-26 05:13

@welby glad to hear thanks for reporting that.

elsombrero 2021-04-26 05:15

Nice sound guy

greg-the-egg 2021-04-26 05:16

The atmosphere is quite nice. I can tell that a lot of time was spent on level design and modeling the cave system.

It's a little hard to tell how far away from the cave walls you are though. I wish that the sub had more lights around it to give a better idea of the distance between the sub and the surroundings.

It'd make a really cool mechanic as well if the cave got darker as you went down. Slow and steady indeed.

The presentation is nice. Good work!

tomeks 2021-04-26 05:29

@greg-the-egg thanks for playing, the darkening was down on the list of "maybe" tasks, sadly didn't get to make it. The main issue with the distance initially was not a problem as all rocks were aligned to the 0 in z but I later unintentionally broke it while trying to make the level look more interesting :<

william-corrin 2021-04-26 07:22

Atmosphere is fantastic. Graphics are very solid, especially given the time limit - the only thing this game needs is better steering / control, more obvious death boundaries, and a checkpoint system.

smooches 2021-04-26 12:20

The models and sound effects were perfect imho, very chill experience. In all honesty might have even been better if there was no fail state and you could just chill and catch the fish.

sevkron 2021-04-26 13:05

A fantastic atmospheric game, reminded me of Abzu or that submarine section from Inside. The lower-grade simple visuals and the little details; like the bubble physics, that fish flocking behaviour the propeller animation, are so satisfying to watch! Gameplay could easily be improved with a more forgiving collision or perhaps a submarine HP system.

andrewkennedy 2021-04-26 15:21

The audio was great, and the low-poly environment was nice to explore. I did think the one-hit crash was pretty brutal, especially with the low contrast. I often died not knowing that I was about to hit a wall. Stronger contrast between FG/BG, or stronger lights on the submarine could help with that.

Overall, nice experience!

(Regarding the performance, optimization, the game ran great in fullscreen on my end!)

fdk 2021-04-26 15:44

Really great visual style ! As said above, my main problems where with figuring out the difference between background and foreground in order to navigate. I think have a "health bar" system would be a bit better since those tunnels are pretty narrow and it can take a while to go back where you were before.

But it is nevertheless a very nice game, the sounds were on point as well and the atomsphere really fits ! Great job !

seebass22 2021-04-26 22:40

Really loved the music sound effects. very effective at making an immersive atmosphere! The submarine model looks great too! I agree with other users about the health-bar or no-fail ideas. having to restart after you lightly graze a wall is quite punishing

I caught almost all fish, but crashed as I was attempting to catch the last one

axlplosion 2021-04-27 13:17

The visuals are great! I like how the propeller rotates with the controls, and the movement of the fish looks very realistic. As for the gameplay, I wasn't a fan of the crashing mechanic because it made an otherwise relaxing game a little stressful. Other than that the gameplay was very nice, and could work even better with a more open level design.

mathemagician 2021-04-27 13:29

I'm a big fan of the audio, and the concept you ran with here. I thought the grabbing was a little finicky (there were a number of times I was *sure* I had snagged one and not had it go off), but nothing major there. With the pace of the gameplay, I'd have loved to see higher contrast/more detailed terrain to bring some visual interest and help the player avoid walls a little more easily, but game jams gonna game jam.

Like others have mentioned, slightly more forgiving crash mechanics would be nice (maybe only crash if you're going at least X m/s, or a healthbar or something?), but certainly not a deal breaker.

grewoss 2021-04-28 08:48

Very well put together game. You really nailed the submarine movement.
