I'm not sure if I captured the cemetry, but I sure did put a lot of cannons and angels around the place, which is my usual policy anyway. The music evoked the right atmosphere for sure.

secretjuice 2024-04-15 22:37

Thanks for the game! It was a bit confusing gameplay wise, and being able to summon things directly into the cemeteries made it pretty simple to cheese, but there was clearly a lot of effort put into this!

mohammed-kapiel 2024-04-16 17:28

Thank you @secretjuice sadly it lacks a lot of polish and yes is very easy to cheese, I even removed the mana limit so you can technically spawn as many units as you like :joy: I will patch it out and balance the units in the future, during the jam basically what I could muster is an RTS tech demo of sorts  Hope you check it out later when it's more feature complete and enjoy it  Also for now added a controls section to the description and will try to make it more intuitive in game.

That's great to hear @wilverine ,spread the canons and angels :joy: The Cemeteries have an orange circle to help distinguish them, but I would have liked to add an on screen pointer as well to help as I imagine it can be confusing, especially in the compo submission version.

rolly 2024-04-16 17:47

So I understand it was not finished in the compo version? I won the game by simply spamming cannons in the orange circles :D I'm sad I couldn't see more of it, it looks ambitious and could actually be engaging with a few more rules to the game!

The music sounds good and the UI is simple to understand.

Cool game!

mohammed-kapiel 2024-04-16 17:55

Thank you @rolly. I fell in the age old pit of feature creep, I'd argue it's still incomplete :joy: but I have grown fond of it and hope to keep patching it. I will of course keep the compo version for reviews though, but encourage people to give the newest patch a play, just for fun not ratings.

Interesting game! I like it!

olddog 2024-04-17 01:24

this game path finding system is awsome, but fightning feeling not very good, wish for more detail or content of this game I can play

mohammed-kapiel 2024-04-17 06:12

@kirass Thank you so much

mohammed-kapiel 2024-04-17 06:14

@olddog Praise be to Godot :joy:. I did some optimizations to my tile map (At some point it struggle to move more than 20 units), but overall the engine does the heavy lifting and I can think of ways of improving it in the future. I agree about the fighting, I would love to add more feedback, like flash on damage, attack animations and sounds.

themaskedman 2024-04-17 21:03

I've only got one question now, is having angels and cannons some sort of a Paradise Lost reference? Either way, it's the vibe I had, gonna be waiting on the "conquer hell" expansion. <3

mohammed-kapiel 2024-04-18 05:55

@themaskedman hate to shatter the vibe, but I didn't know what Paradise Lost is , but I'd still love to make a "Conquer Hell" expansion, I mean why else have angels :joy:

pebkac 2024-04-19 20:25

Wow, making an entire RTS is quite ambitious. I liked the simple yet efficient pixel art style and the haunting music.

mohammed-kapiel 2024-04-20 15:58

@pebkac Thank you  Ambitious yes, but also foolish tbh :joy:

hadik 2024-04-22 11:32

Intriguing RTS concept with solid pathfinding but lacks detailed combat feedback. The simplicity of the mechanics made it easy to exploit, which detracted from the challenge. Great atmosphere through music and an intuitive UI. With further development and balancing, this could evolve into a much more engaging game.

torte478 2024-04-23 16:51

Great job! I liked the scale and visual style

mohammed-kapiel 2024-04-27 07:43

@hadik Thank you. I agree if I had time, most probably would add proper feedback, like color changing the sprite or animations. Glad you like the atmosphere and what is here, would love to build upon it and make it into a more complete experience.

mohammed-kapiel 2024-04-27 07:44

@torte478 Thank you so much  glad you appreciate my programmer art :joy:  I tried to make up the lack of talent with a consistent color and style at the very least.

designernap 2024-05-03 10:07

I am not sure I was playing it right as I could not get any of the spawned things to move or do anything. If I placed an angle next to an enemy it did damage so I ended up spawning them on top of everything to complete the game? Lovely sound and mood though :)

mohammed-kapiel 2024-05-03 15:31

@designernap Thank you  That is a valid way to play, however you should be able to move units. Unless it's a bug, maybe after spawning you tried to drag a selection box right away, that just spawns a unit as I didn't have time to cancel the spawning logic when you start selecting. So you need to right click to stop spawning then you can drag a selection box. Also didn't have time to implement single unit selection, so you can only box select. But what's important is that you found a way to experience the game, so glad you could
