LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Anatomically Correct Human by Evan 2021-05-14T05:36:44Z

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Sorry for the delay in replying

@beats Sorry to hear that :disappointed: I'm having trouble replicating the issue you described, any chance you could share your OS and Firefox version to help me debug the issue (if you don't mind).

@acuriosity Cool to see other digestive tract games! Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!

@gamefive It sounds like you figured it out, but for anyone else, you need to "digest" the grapes to get more stem cells (ie. place brains down which shoot at the grapes).

@wanderix Definitely wish I had more time to get in a retry button, seems to be a common complaint.

GRAPPLE the Abyss! by lectvs 2021-05-14T06:14:13Z

I finished this a couple weeks ago but never got around to leaving a comment. I had a lot of fun with this one and (if I'm remembering correctly) the ending cracked me up :joy:

Loved it

Dig Dig Dig by Chirichirichiri 2021-05-17T06:00:12Z

This was surprisingly addictive! The sound effects were very satisfying, did you use a glass and some ice cubes for the mining gold sound effect?

One thing I noticed is that when I was mining and the camera moved, it would stop mining. It might be cool to have it so that even if the camera moves, you still mine in the direction relative to where you were previously mining before the camera moved. I'm not actually sure if that would work well, but just throwing out an idea!

Great job!

This was relaxing :relaxed:

One small suggestion would be to indicate to the player early on that they can not have more than one item picked up at a time. I ended up spending some time diving deeper to obtain another item only to find that I couldn't. Maybe having two items at the start side by side might help indicate this.

The two of you always pull something amazing off

Really enjoyed this one!

THE SUBMARINER by Ian Kettlewell 2021-05-17T07:39:10Z

I played this one twice because I forgot to rate this on my first play through. It was as enjoyable on my second play!

The sound effects are truly terrifying :scream:

Also, the ending surprised me on my second play as much as it did on my first. Forgot about that :joy:

Going Down by Barney25052 2021-05-18T03:02:28Z

This was fun! My highest score was 2650 which feels like the highest I'll probably get unless I am extremely lucky as I was put into an impossible situation (two lasers on both levels fired almost immediately at the same time).

Great job

Substate by beats 2021-05-14T06:26:55Z

The concept here is really unique and interesting! I like how you narrated the game, you don't see that a lot in jam games

Blast Miner by TopperVideoGames 2021-05-17T06:10:41Z

Really neat idea for a puzzle game (I like how this is kinda the reverse of most puzzle games)! Unfortunately, I was not able to pull off any chain reactions. I think it could be cool to have some explosives already placed in the game, that way you can inform the player how one is pulled off.

Diggleoid by zep 2021-05-17T05:43:50Z

I'll probably come back and play this some more at some point! Ended up making it to level 3 with a top score (so far) of 32.

This was frustratingly good in that, I would get too confident and start digging downward only to get crushed by a boulder, or, start digging to the side forgetting to make sure the dirt was being supported. Every death made me want to play a bit further :joy:

There, Again by Honey Pony 2021-05-14T06:10:39Z

(Disclaimer: I played this a couple weeks back but am now just getting around to adding a comment)

This took me a while to complete, but it was worth it! Very satisfying gameplay, especially after doing the rock to wall jumps (which were a bit hard to pull off to say the least). Got a lot of relief after doing those correctly :joy: Although I sometimes messed up and had to restart right after doing one successfully which was frustrating, but I persevered on.

I loved how natural the timing felt for almost everything. In particular, it was magical how jumping on rolling rocks just worked!

It is very impressive that you managed to do this all during a game jam, amazing job!

Wilford - Deep Underground by BattleCat 2021-05-17T06:55:22Z

For what it's worth, this didn't feel severely unfinished to me! I laughed at the opening screen artwork, so cute :smile_cat:

Deep Memory by Gastoon 2021-05-17T07:58:09Z

The take on the theme here was really unique!

After rating, I went and played the post compo version you posted and can see where you were heading with this. It is too bad you did not get the ending (I believe) in the compo version, but it was still very enjoyable and touching without it.

Great job!

The Fall of Squidy by ealhche 2021-05-17T07:04:13Z

This was really fun and satisfying! I laughed at the death sound effect :joy:

I also have to agree with others here in that, I did not really understand the point of defeating enemies (although it is satisfying to quickly dash down, and then dash up slightly to take one out on the way down).

Overall I really enjoyed this and would love to see it expanded!

My name ? by nyanpierre 2021-05-14T07:32:38Z

Great take on the theme! I found the length of this game to be just right (I didn't time myself but it felt like it took around 10 minutes).

I will say that I ended up brute forcing one puzzle (the critter one) and accidentally solving another (the chemical elements one, I hadn't even found the periodic table yet). My only suggestion would be to make it harder to brute force/accidentally solve puzzles.

Overall, loved it!

Run little one, run by Para_no_ 2021-05-14T06:23:49Z

This felt like a very unique take on endless runners! I had a lot of fun with it and I love that you can cheese (pun intended) the game a little just by running around on the top floor to rack up points :joy:

Fall Damage Isn't Fun by JakubBala 2021-05-17T06:46:40Z

The concept was very cool :sunglasses: It took me a couple tries but I eventually got it!

I think this idea could be expanded on to make something really amazing. Tighter platforming controls would go a long way.

MachDrop by ZIM 2021-05-17T07:21:12Z

I weirdly am really into this! From the interesting camera angle to the urgency presented from the background music, there is something about this game. It's a shame you can only (I think) make it to 100m as I would love to see where you were going with this.
