I love the way the music changes near the end, it's really great. Would've been cool to see previous tiers mattering a little more in the late game, especially clicking manually. The polish here seems like it was definitely more in focus than the content, I'd say. Which, well, with such a limited amount of time to make a game, that tends to be the case. Anyways, nice job! Really clean and frenetic and fun. \o/

Anatomically Correct Human by Evan 2021-05-17T06:45:16Z

What even is this? I love this so much, I can't stop laughing

Okay, well, if you want a real review, the controls could use a bit of work (it was hard to figure out how to place all the things, and the way the camera works is extremely awkward)

But then again... the janky controls didn't really impact my enjoyment of this. Like, every stage of coming to understand how this game worked made me laugh even more — from the goofy "Oh no i do not feel well" text that you're sure to get instantly, to the sheer number of brains you have to place, to the massive height of the human, to the toilet at the bottom... and then of course the "thank you i am relieved" once you finally figure it out. That was like... well, it was an emotional journey hahaha

10/10 would make anatomically correct human again

Reach the Core by kavehes 2021-05-15T15:06:13Z

This game looks fantastic and I really like the mechanics and the concept, even if I have seen similar kinds of games before. Unfortunately, I really was not a fan of the controls though, the curve for speed just felt *really* weird. It felt like I was always either turning too slow or too fast, there was no in-between. I think that those controls could be tightened up a bit so that it's a bit more fun to play with... I think what I'd suggest in a game like this would be to encourage tapping on the buttons to turn at a controllable speed rather than being super start-stoppy, you know?

Oh, and I see you've been doing post-LD development, if you're still doing that I'd also love to see more kinds of things you could run into, or potentially more actions to perform? Just something more to chew on so that the whole game isn't just the movement that I don't currently like :stuck_out_tongue: I feel like sounds would also do wonders for this game, if you get to it at some point!

Hey, this one is a lot like my entry :stuck_out_tongue: Music is great, and I love that digging is synced up with the beats. As for the gameplay... given that the game doesn't fundamentally change between runs, and each run is very short with a kinda just "grab stuff you pass by", it doesn't really feel like there's much replayability. I definitely love the concept though. Honestly maybe even just having stuff you could run into would probably be enough to make it a lot more replayable, but, as other people have suggested, some kind of upgrade system would be good too. I'd love to see this expanded on post-LD!

Dig Dig Dig by Chirichirichiri 2021-05-17T06:07:58Z

@evan The digging sound effect was a container of honey roasted peanuts, the metal sound was a 30-year-old pizza pan, and the mining gold sound effect was letting a nearly-used-up candle's lid fall against it in my lap. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think what you might be experiencing with the camera thing is that when you start mining, the screen is in the process of moving, so when the screen finally catches up with you, your mouse is no longer on a mineable tile. I think in the post-LD version I'll let the player mine in a direction like you said though, or something like that at least. Because after playing it for uhh... probably too many hours, I definitely agree.

Thanks for the feedback! 🤍

It came out of space by Suchista 2021-05-15T16:00:46Z

I actually quite liked the horizontal limitation for the bullets, it led to a lot more kiting which I thought was fun. Quite cool little game! I was glad to see multiple enemy types by the end, as well, it would've gotten old with only the one

I quite like the gameplay loop and and the way the controls work! The music is good too, for what I could hear of it before it got replaced by the crackles due to the bug in your sound library.

There's a few accessibility issues in this game that impacted my enjoyment of it: - The text is extremely hard to read, that cyan just completely blends in for me to the surrounding greys. I recommend in the future running your [text colour through a contrast checker](https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/?fcolor=00E0FF&bcolor=B3ABA6) to see if it is accessible for people. (You want at least AA, but could probably get away with a contrast ratio of at least 1.8:1) - The rocks probably shouldn't be rendered behind the oil, it makes it so that you legitimately can't tell that you're about to crash into one until you do. Means most of the time when you lose it doesn't really feel like your fault.

Anyway, nice work with this! I'd love to see a post-jam version of this game that's polished up!

ROOTS by TheGreenWorm 2021-04-26T18:31:57Z

Everything works great, there's a ton of polish in everything, and the game is sincerely just fun. I love this one. Actually spent the time playing through until I'd unlocked everything.

Stronger root was the least necessary upgrade, I found — it would have been nice for that to come into play more.

I also was a little disappointed that I got stuck at the midway point for most of the game, but at some point I reached some kind of breaking point and afterwards was able to make it all the way to the end without any trouble, so I didn't really get that sort of "ugh this section is rough" about any of the latter half.

Also, due to the speed upgrade in particular, and the fact that the root doesn't slide along objects towards your mouse, once you're very upgraded your only real threat is your ability to avoid obstacles. So the kind of game it was really changed at that point.

Anyway, I had a lot to say specifically because I had such a blast with this game. I'm sure any of the stuff I brought up would be the kind of thing refined from development happening over a longer period of time, haha. For the time you had, what is here is absolutely flawless. Thanks for the fun!
