Liked the sprites and general graphic. The idea behind it is also pretty solid, though it is kinda weird that you have a sword and shield and suddenly throw projectiles :D.

And you should give the character a slippy material or something, cause you get pretty fast stuck at a wall when trying to jump over it.

I have no words.

This game could have been good , but I beleive that you made the map too big . A small and stacked map is better than a giant empty map . Maybe having a health bar could have been better because magicians one-shot the player , and finally , why is a vicking trying to drop potions in a well ??? If you don't explain the story , the player don't really involve in the game . I hope you learned , and that you do better in your next Game Jam !

@flayff Ty for your message and for the advice

neilm5 2021-04-27 10:28

I like it, it's quite fun, but it's no really in the the tho

atosgame 2021-04-27 10:35

@deedose Ty for your comments. Yes, the story does not make much sense, we did not have time to resolve these issues, but thanks you for your feedback and for your help.

Great game, the scenery is beautiful, just like the character, the game mechanics are very interesting.

A bit a awkward but still a good try. If the control and gravity is improved, the game will be more fun.

The pixel art character was cool. Making massive leaps off of cliffs was super satisfying. The music was fine but I feel like some sound effects would have been nice. I didn't really get a sense of the theme and things like gravity and wall collisions when jumping could be improved. Good job in getting it done and submitted!

Nice Work, I Liked tne Pixel Art and the Ground Texturing

I found the controls a bit "floaty" and the strange fire image didnt seem to fit as being a viking. I think a little more polish this could have been a good game. Nice work.

Same as above, you definitely needed to tone down the gravity. I'd also add a bit of screenshake or a sound effect whenever you hit an enemy with a potion just to make it a bit more satisfying.

Never thought I would see the day where vikings walk with light sabers and shoot out hadokens. Some of the jump collisions are a little weird on the land but I like what you have going on

You've got a neat little project here! I'm glad you guys came out to participate in the jam! I found some things that could use some improvement, but overall you guys got a lot done! A big thing I'd suggest that will help you improve your games into the future would be to learn more about how to make platforming controls that feel really nice. There's a fantastic video I'll link you too by Jonas Tyroller who goes over a ton of useful stuff regarding platformer controls:

(The title is a bit provocative, but it is very good info)

Also, if your interested, I streamed my run through here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1017517813 and started yours around 2:10:40ish.

Great job guys!
