LD33 — You are the Monster

Aglæca by philomory 2015-08-25T08:06:00

Not really a comment on the game (which I liked!), but because the game title has an æ on this page, but an "ae" on the .exe, it took me forever to find it, because I had closed the page :p

SnakeLike by Logan 2015-08-26T14:32:00

That's a really cool idea. I always wandered why no one made a game that iterated on the snake concept, as there seems to be quite some design space there.

Well done!

The Howl by pereubu 2015-08-25T11:21:00

Great exercise in style! Love the moody atmosphere.

Shooting an arrow while a rabbit runs away, then hearing it get hit in the fog, and then running forward to find it dead, is quite cool and haunting!

The Skullcatcher by CrownCity 2015-08-28T15:09:00

That's a really good game!

Nitpicky thing, I think the aspect ratio is slightly off for a GB game.

(also I really love the music :D)

Trouble in Monsterland by ZYXer 2015-08-28T17:26:00

I like the concept behind the level up, altough I sorta of wish it had some non-linearity to it.

Apart from that it's a nice little fun game. Just a question, does gold have any actual use?

Tri-Hack by ncgames 2015-08-25T11:09:00

Doesn't really fit the theme at all. Altough I do love the minimalistic aesthetics and the simple gameplay.

I think it does lack a bit of urgency though, might be a bit more fun if the player was allowed more leeaway for error and the game was faster.

de-monstration by aprotasenya 2015-08-25T08:22:00

Hmm, the shift key doesn't do anything for me...

Is That Me? by Gil4 2015-08-25T01:06:00

Not sure that the floaty movement fits the theme and the overral game that much (and it also adds to difficulty). The concept though is nifty and fun.

KleenEmUp by tanjent 2015-08-25T07:58:00

Cool puzzle concept! Not much in the way of playing on the given theme though.

A Game Where You Are ANY Monster by Saphyre 2015-08-25T02:10:00

Uh, reminded me of Monster Love You, although maybe with less love. Nicely done, it also looks quite good (i mean, for how much a text adventure can look good)

A bit disappointed I didn't got to play a ratspider

Your Are The Slime! by Andrew Patton 2015-08-25T01:45:00

That's a neat idea, but killing humans is incredibly hard. Slow them down when they overlap you maybe?

Altough anything referencing Zappa gets points for that.

Browser pest by Team Luminous 2015-08-25T02:18:00

Hmm, simple game concept, although it's quite nice as an edu-tainment thingy.

Only thing that seems weird is the size of the character in respect to his actual collider (its mouth), just feel a bit weird to play.

Crazy Monster Drivers by shimage 2015-08-25T07:47:00

Would probably benefit from some indicator to how close you are to the water level (to time the special skills). Apart from that, nice game :D

Locked Out by QuexD 2015-08-25T00:57:00

Lacks a bit of game feel (I actually think it would feel quite good with a puzzl-y platform-but-on-grid type of movement -think something like exit), apart from that I really enjoyed it. The theming put a big smile on my face, and the levels are actually quite fun.

Lair by TheSambassador 2015-08-28T17:37:00

Interesting concept despite being quite buggy. Not a fan of traps with separately placeable triggers (i found them hard to get my head around in Evil Genious too) but that's just me.

Spiritbound by LoHii 2015-08-28T17:44:00

cool game! Maybe would work a bit on the controls as they are not extremely precise right now (the arrow keeps flickering)

Heroes Always Win by bradur 2015-08-28T17:11:00

This is a genuinely super cool concept. I would play (and pay) the hell out of a more flashed out version of this.

Only suggestion that I can give is that the camera movement probably works great on touch devices but it's a tiny bit ankward on pc.

You are the Monster by DoggyDog 2015-08-25T10:24:00

Nice game, love the aesthetic! Would have been nice if the monster changed his lines depending on his aggression.

This is NOT a scam! by Reccy 2015-08-25T11:34:00

That is a cool game concept!

The game is fun albeit a bit simple. I would honestly play the hell out of a more complex iteration on this theme and gameplay!

T.H.E.Y by WuPex 2015-08-25T08:54:00

Cute little game, altough the isometric view makes it a bit frustrating.

Also, should probably improve on game feels (shooting doesn't have any "weight" to it)

Where is my Hat? by Bsevers18 2015-08-25T01:28:00

Really nice, the aesthetics work pretty well, and destroying buildings feels good. Nothing much else apart from that, but there's really no need for anything else.

Monster System by freaknarf 2015-08-25T10:39:00

Honestly I was immensely confused about what I had to do. Still destroying buildings is always fun.

The control scheme feels a bit ankward though (ctrl and space work fine, but with the finger in that position shift is hard to reach... maybe put X as an alternate key for fireballs?)

Ah and I quite enjoyed the phrasing of the tutorial, and the aesthetics are quite nice.

Minotough by Knatt 2015-08-25T21:07:00

Hmm, it's an interesting and in many part compelling game. It took me a bit to get the mechanics but they work quite nicely. I do think though that as it is now it lacks any strategic depth, which a turn based game does need. As there is no way to predict what the opponent will use, the game sorta of turns into a very luck based endevour.

Also, respect for the blue diamonds.

Revenge by azokal 2015-08-26T09:27:00

Interesting concept, though the lack of aiming or any strategic element makes it a bit of a button masher.

Still fun though.

If i had to suggest something, maybe change the color of the boss bullet, through the whole of the first phase i was convinced the E attack wasn't working because red bullets on a dark background going super fast are near invisible

Monster Creator by EverlessDrop41 2015-08-26T14:21:00

nice proof of concept, controls need work though (altough honestly It will probably play ok on a pad even with this controls)

All That Glitters by cgmorton 2015-08-25T10:46:00

Theming feels a bit off, as the game wouldn't change much by switching monsters and heroes.

Game's quite fun though, fast paced stealth is a type of gameplay that can be quite fun, and there are not enough games about it in the world.

Hungry Friend by KerSplotchPolice 2015-08-25T07:54:00

normally I'd say to reduce the vertical scale of the levels, as having super high jump is always inconvenient, but honestly, it plays well with the weirdness of the theming. Cool game.

The Inglorious Yet Highly Stimulating Life of an Underpaid Graduate Student by Gelato Labs 2015-08-25T01:36:00

The game sorta of hung up on me, i was stuck on an endless telephone loop while notifications came from everywhere (also some choices sometimes don't work), I surely don't remember my Undergrad life being so exciting.

From the small portion of the game I saw though it is a cool idea.

DESTRUCTION IMP by q2k2k 2015-08-25T01:32:00

Definitelly needs better feedback for when you're hitting enemy (really early on i got the lightning weapon, and it took me too much time to understand it was actually a weapon). On the plus side, the basic shooty weapon made me go "WHOOO", because it was fast and cool looking.

Lure.Lair.Lunch by daveh 2015-08-25T02:21:00

That's a really cool concept for a platformer!

CuteAlienSlaughter by Electron 2015-08-25T09:43:00

Yay for screenshake! Also pushing the character back a bit would have further enhanced the game feel.

I wish there was more game that the one level, it's quite fun in a visceral way.

Minotaur by BeamKirby 2015-08-25T00:42:00

The game is simple but fun. Well done! :D

Only thing is probably the "start screen" which doesn't look great and can be a bit of a turn off from downloading the game. But I understand that in 48 hours there's not really lot of time to polish the start screen :p

Outing with Frankie by SeaDads 2015-08-25T01:41:00

Nice game! Great looking and polished.

PixelMonster by shawn42 2015-08-28T17:28:00

Doesn't start for me (windows 7)

Delicious Ships! by BaseCase 2015-08-25T02:02:00

While I like the core mechanic the theming makes it a bit confusing at the beginning, as it's not super easy to understand why ships are sinking. After having got that though it's a nifty little puzzle game.

Cool Alien Dudes by Daisuke909 2015-08-25T00:50:00

The game succeeds in giving a sense of "power" (tiny enemies is one of the best and most under-utilized things in games). I would maybe suggest to start the game with a slower pace, as it is at first a bit confusing.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Don't Mess With Totems by winesays 2015-12-15T12:56:00

This looks gorgeous! Well Done!

Game is also quite fun!

Dead Man's Volley by DragonXVI 2015-12-15T20:24:00

Simple but engagin. Well done.

Sometimes it does seem to be a bit untied to the music though, maybe in a final version making so that the bullets and stuff pulsate to music might help.

Slash Quest by Big Green Pillow ft Mgaia 2015-12-21T13:11:00

Great concept and interesting controls, but the game built around it, while entertaining, doesn't really seem to fit.

At least for me the most fun of using those control is the wildness and unpredictability of the movement and the slashing. I feel that a more hacky-and-slashy version of this would be so much more fun than a precision based puzzle.

Anyhow, still a fun and engaging game, well done!

From Sprout to Splendor by xevozfighter 2015-12-15T04:07:00

Good game, but needs some explaining of the controls/gameplay

HamsterX by UntitledQ 2015-12-19T01:31:00

Great concept. It does feel it would work a bit better with a way to control mid air during your first shot, and if you actually had 4 buttons to build your booster.

Still, very fun! Well Done!

Tower to the Stars by ianh 2015-12-29T01:23:00

To be honest I find landing mechanic generally frustrating, but given that this games execute the concept very well, and I can appreciate the flow and stripped-downess of it.

Rocks, maps, scissors by Split82 2015-12-15T23:09:00

That's brilliant! Not sure how it fits in the theme, but it is a really cool concept!

Well done!

PISTIL PISTOL: BOTANY BLAST II by HacksawUnit 2015-12-19T01:42:00

Well done! small elegant game, very fun.

Not sure if there's a lose condition though.

Just an Beaver by lekiy 2015-12-16T03:54:00

A bit hard but overall solid release.

Although keep in mind that a straight up .exe rather than an installer is a way more immediate way to distribute

Ministry of Growth and Information by ashdnazg 2015-12-15T01:09:00

Nice concept, maybe it'd need some downside to just spamming the free button though.

BOOM BOAT by bryantdrewjones 2015-12-19T01:15:00

Good game. Great visuals and love the risk/reward mechanic duality of avoiding and exploding

Well done!

Ball Crusher From Neptune by Stending 2015-12-29T01:46:00

Good job!

Love how the difficulty scales diegetically

only note: when you click right then left it counts as a double click, and i feel it shouldn't (not sure if a bug or a design decision)

SpaceEx by Tangible Games 2015-12-24T14:14:00

That's extremely polished for a game made in three days, well done!

CICP : the Center for Interplanetary Pest Control by Robber 2015-12-19T00:51:00

Took a while to understand the mechanic. UI definitelly needs work, as it's too "divided".

Love the immediacy of the planet/health systems.

Life of the Party by laaph 2015-12-19T01:23:00

Very awkward to control. While that is probably part of the challenge of the game, if I have to be honest I just find it a bit frustrating.

Radical Revolver Recoil Rampage by AndreasL 2015-12-19T00:25:00

Nice game! Very interesting core mechanic and great game feel. Would be a bit better if the floor had some diegetic reason for the floor to move forward, maybe a treadmill of something will help.

Well Done!

World Grower - Growth of the civilization by rhebsgaard 2015-12-15T15:00:00

maybe it needs a sound effect or something when you click on a building, to notify you you now have to click on the grid to build it.

I'm also not a fan of how the upgrading cost increases globally rather than by building to building basis.

Apart from that is a nifty little prototype with a really cool idea in the "expanding world"

Corpse Avenger by LoHii 2015-12-19T01:01:00

Took me 10 minute to understand how the menu worked. I'm assuming you could have used more than one button at least for the menu.

Apart from that, not really my cup of tea, but obviously effort has been put into it, so well done :)

Star Warrior by spolsh 2015-12-16T16:31:00

Well done! Love the aesthetics!

Happy Little Flower by Reccy 2015-12-15T03:00:00

Well I failed the experiment :p

Nice little proof of style though

Flappy Invaders by Miziziziz 2015-12-29T01:40:00

Simple but smart idea!

Would probably work a bit better by losing the walls and basing it more on shoting stuff.

Still, good work!

Odd Binary Run by Nattack 2015-12-24T14:13:00

Found it very hard, but the idea is quite interesting!

Drez-eX by Leaghorn 2015-12-15T02:51:00

Cool looking, good feel, interesting mood, just... I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do here

Tanya Titor and the Time Twister by NoGrapes 2015-12-15T02:41:00

Inversely tying the power of the character to his health is quite interesting, and the thening is nice.

Well Done!

(Cronothep tho -_-)

MANE by Enchae 2015-12-16T04:07:00

This is genuinelly brilliant!

It did take a bit for me though to understand that purple = good;

What the PUCK? by sbot1101 2015-12-29T01:36:00

Cute little game

Actually tried it alone and tbh it was quite fun trying to play both sides, so that might be an idea for you to expand it or something :p

Garden Solitaire by Paulgami 2015-12-29T01:27:00

Like the concept, altough I feel that the completability of it is very random.

As a side note, as much as the music is fitting please add volume control for it :p

Eldritch Trance by TheWzzard 2015-12-19T01:48:00

Nice entrancing little game! Maybe the symbols should match somewhat in shape the direction you are pressing, but the nice curve with which the content is presented doesn't make this much of a problem.

Well done!

FLOW by Romixal 2015-12-15T14:45:00

Cool small game with great mood to it. Wish it'd run smooth-er on my pc tho :\

Tri-Fission by Reisen 2015-12-15T04:12:00

Wow, really love the concept

would love to see it evolve in a full fledged game

Carp'e Diem! by Archonthewizard 2015-12-16T03:41:00

Nice take on 2d shooters, might be interesting to find non-shooty uses for the fishies, so that they are not just a replacement for bullets. Overall very enjoyable!

Sickle & Sword by MSiddeek 2015-12-15T15:28:00

Nice little game, love the minimalistic controls and the resource management mechanics!

blackfisk by Acerio 2015-12-24T14:16:00

The game is not super intuitive to get into, but the concept itself is solid, and once one understand what to do it's quite fun!

Whack-a-Mouse by Xitavos 2015-12-15T04:00:00

Nice concept, might have worked better with a smaller grid maybe.

Doomsday Preppers by CrazyMinnowStudio 2015-12-16T04:02:00

Nice music and cool concept, would love to see it expanded in something a bit more complex.

High Noon Swinger by saucygames 2015-12-16T03:51:00

Interesting visuals, altough i feel that the gameplay itself is not really that much fun. trying to lock your gun on your enemy feels quite frustrating, and there seem to be no action that the player can take to not being shot at (why not a simple time limit at this point?)

PerePey by Riftpoint 2015-12-19T01:37:00

Please let me turn the other way.

Everything else is nice!

Please Mamma by nlbi21 2015-12-15T00:04:00

32 bit version?

MotherCube (strategic puzzle) by Jacktheviper 2015-12-16T03:45:00

Control needs refining, innteresting concept though!

Battle For Bedroom by monetai 2015-12-15T16:04:00

Good visuals and while simple the gameplay is quite fun if one has someone to play it with.

Ritual of Flowers by amorphous 2015-12-15T01:56:00

Quite a nice concept, would love to see it expanded on.

Trimmer Tycoon by Oski 2015-12-24T14:21:00

brilliant concept and good execution, well done!

Twotler by Member1221 2015-12-24T14:23:00

That's a great concept that might be worth developing further, there's a lack of games about social medias in the world.

1990's Arcade by GGC_Language 2015-12-24T14:24:00

Simple but enjoyable. Well done.

Grow a Goldpile by Skaz 2015-12-24T16:36:00

Fun and interesting. Only 2 notes

1 - maybe make it clearer that getting to the bottom of the level is the win condition
2 - I feel like it would work better if it was a bit more fast paced. Digging blocks with one hit rather than two would probably have a worse game feel, but maybe make for smoother gameplay

Avalanche by Kvyosh 2015-12-24T15:04:00

Simple concept but solid execution, well done!

Bridge Balance by blohod 2015-12-15T02:04:00

Nice concept.

In a full fledge version I would love some sort of mechanic that gives the player at least a tiny bit of agency on when to lock the log though.

Grow Big and Go Home by MikeTsunami 2015-12-15T00:15:00

That's quite cute. also incredibly art for me :p

Infinite Runner by Penthaquill 2015-12-15T00:02:00

Quite simple but cool take on the runner genre.

Only two nitpicks:
1. transitioning from a side to the other can be used to avoid things that one should not be avoid.
2. Sliding seems to last a bit too long to be intuitive and, at least I, couldn't really ever get the hang of it.

Turbo Tram Drift by Drury 2015-12-15T03:37:00

Quite hard, interesting though, good music

Fleet Command by kaynank 2015-12-15T00:36:00

Controls are a it unintuitive, idea is neat though!

Fluffy Horde by publicidadeba 2015-12-19T00:42:00

It confuses a bit, but the aesthetics were overall great.

It maybe needs a better explaining of the mechanics, and it could be genuinelly good if the concept were expanded.

What does Sam do ? by Garazbolg 2015-12-16T03:58:00

Cool game, reminds me a bit of Please, Don't Touch anything.

Darkness: A modular Audio Sound Scape by SineGlitch 2015-12-15T00:30:00

I like the atmosphere, but, while I understand you were following the theme, I think that having a full directional movement helps a lot in setting a mood (in that spookiness is tied to accountability, and the player is not accountable while on a rail). Aside from that, nice work!

Multi-Snake-Arcade by JonathonDHart 2015-12-15T03:06:00

Chaotic but quite fun, would love to see this developed in a more polished version

Cubyrinth by kezhaar 2015-12-15T03:25:00

Nice little 3d "puzzle box", haven't got the patience to compete it though :p

Also not entirely sure about how it fits into the theme (oh wait, is it because the screen thing has two buttons on it?)

GURU by TomenLuca 2015-12-15T01:41:00

Took a while for me to get the mechanic (really needs some sort of tutorial), but once I did I had fun.

Simple, but engaging enough mechanics and the theming is great.

Neon Abyss by rsf-krx 2015-12-15T03:41:00

Really enjoying this. Nice music, cool concept and visually enjoyable!

Well Done!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Musical CCG by Eingya 2018-04-24T23:43:20Z

Oh! Thanks for letting me know @Aim! I had ticked the "disable new downlaod" boxe for some reason. Should be fixed Now :D
