nice another talking based game good to see your work again.
Awesome game! Really love the sfx for the dialogue selections and the texts as well. I just feel that sometimes the selection of the texts just confused me especially like in the begging of the game asking the questions of Zinlandia. If I make the choice in a more humble way it will actually raise the alert of the guard, so I just don't really know what kind of mood I should select. But overall I really enjoying it, looking for further development!
Really love the story and writing! Great game.
@zlan100 Thank you for your feedback!
We've tried to add some more description on the page explaining what a Cover Story is. This isn't a dating sim. The villains don't care about your emotions (happy/humble/proud). They care about whether your story makes sense.
If you were to say that you are a Parachute Instructor, and then later say that you hate traveling by airplanes, they will notice an inconsistency.
Since you a super spy, you present ALL of your lies very believably, and it's impossible to directly contradict yourself in this game, but you might give a story that seems inconsistent and raises suspicion.
A good cover story is cohesive.
What makes this game interesting, is that you have to use different covers in different situations, so you can't just pick a single cover story. You will end up with multiple simultaneous cover stories as you get further in the game.
I hope that clarifies a bit of exactly what you, as a player, are supposed to be doing and thinking, during the game.
Realy liked the script which let you add commit pull and push with one line :D Game was also pretty great, realy interesting take on a talking game. I assume it took quite a bit of work to match all the conversation events.
Loved the writing! Also music and art style are superb.
I like how there are multiple stories you can tell - no dialogue option is right or wrong, you just have to keep it consistent. You could add a chapter select menu to make losing later in the game less punishing.
@noef Thank you! I'm pleasantly surprising you looked at the source code.
That script has saved so many development hours! I use it in all my projects.
@bitshift We're glad you enjoyed that non-linearity!
That's a great idea for skipping to a chapter! We will try to add that, and maybe also game Checkpoints to smooth the post-jam experience.
I love this so much. I legitamately laughed a few times, since the writing and art (which fits the writing) was so on point. The Persona 5 UI looks really good here too. Just such a great experience.
Amazing art. Fun gameplay. Good Job! One suggestion is to have the "suspicion" oriented better.
@ryanwoods Thank you so much for the kind words! We are glad you enjoyed it!
@lootfox-parker Thank you!
How would you tweak the "suspicion"? Just rotate the bar to be more vertical?
This game looks pretty polished in many regards. Nice writing and solid graphics and sound/ music. I had fun playing it for a bit. 10/10 would still try to catch a lava pokemon in the middle of a crisis again.
Great art & funny dialogue. I thought I was good when I got past airport security, but got caught by the Cane Man. Nothing can get by the Cane Man.
Excellent game! I loved how I got the man with the cane to think the other dude was the spy. Very engaging and fun story. This is a solid submission. Deep Cover.JPG
Great game! I loved the visuals and the writing. Just sad I didn't get to finish the game (I think I was at the end, but since failing brings you back to the first stage, I sort of gave up.) Other than that, it was great!
Loved everything about this game. Man, it's hard to keep my lies straight lol. I beat it though, really charming writing, design, music, all of it! Top marks across the board, awesome submission, thanks for sharing!
@candlebird Thanks so much for playing! I'm glad you had a good time.
We appreciate the feedback about it being tough to have to go back to the first stage. We'll try to implement a checkpoint system in the next build.
@nvrskipgameday Your comments are too kind! I'm happy you enjoyed the game.
Players like you are what give us so much passion for creating indie games!
Solid stuff, it both looked and sounded fantastic. Had a pretty fantastic moment of panic when I first had to deal with *two* people at once, and from then on was super cautious about it happening again. That's the kind of moment that's hard to get, and I'm suitably impressed you managed it.
@mathemagician thank you for playing through it! our writer is truly superb. I’m also very honored that you liked the visuals, we worked very hard on it
I found the game very beautiful and with a fun and engaging story
This is so, so entertaining! I also love the art + UI throughout. Great job!
@janet-lin Thanks for the kind words! I'm happy you enjoyed it!
Awesome game guys, and surprisingly difficult! I was impressed by how much stuff was in the game, and it was all very compelling! Art was incredible, great story writing too, I was surprised how much their responses changed depending on different cover stories!
Агент под прикрытием с невероятной историей, которые взрывает базу врага. Заманчиво! Хорошая визуальная новелла! ^_^
Woow soo cool graphic! And really nice character!) Good concept and story) Amazing work!!!
I just last night thought "man I should have made a game about going deep undercover", glad to see someone else had the idea earlier and implemented it better than I could have. Character designs are gorgeous and very impressive for a weekend jam. Music was very fitting as well. I was wondering if the character Mr Trilby is a reference to the character from the Czho mythos, he's dressed simlar and iirk that character also had a cane. I definitely wasn't expecting to run into two different people I'd told contradicting lies to, that was an interesting twist. Managed to beat it on my second try, just barely, second mission was easier when I anticipated possibly having to fool two people at once.
This game was a great experience!
I loved the art style.
Music sets the mood pretty well!
Sound effects are balanced, clear and precise.
Game design, core ideas and the gameplay feel are fantastic!
Story is also super fun!
I really liked playing it and creating funny stories as agent 00/2, haha.
Congratulations for the whole team on this! Loved playing this Ludum Dare entry.
Best regards, Caio Varalta.
Great polished game.....sound and art are really good and consistent and a really interesting idea for the theme. Great job!
This was a very interesting and cool concept to fit into the theme. The quality of the artwork and music/SFX is great!
That was really cool ! I didn't expect something like this in the jam, in a good way ^^. The art is GORGEOUS and the humor rating is, for once, justified. Well done !
Really fun game, with a beautiful graphics and a gorgeous original soundtrack! bravo!
Only one thing about the gameplay: It looked quite easy. Or I was just lucky?
Man, this was so much fun. It's hard to believe this game is created within such short amount of time... Dialogue design kinda reminds me of Persona 5. I thought having a timer to rush people to choose an answer makes it more frustrating in a fun way.lol
I enjoyed the dialogue options, the art is great and the whole game is ridiculously polished. Amazing job! P.s. Loving the P5 vibes!
I really like how this as a whole is. The music/art/story really play together well
Really fun game! Saw it in a stream the other night and finally got a chance to check it out and play for myself. Had to play it a couple times to get to the end but felt super accomplished when I got to the end! Great job~
Really cool game!!!! \o/ I love the art of chars!!!
Fun little game! Great art, great sound. Really great entry!
Great game - would love to see this further expanded on! Loved the art styling, and the game text and music is superb!
Only issues I came across - and only mentioning in case others have the same:
* Had set the resolution a bit lower than full screen, and noticed a couple of spots where the text overlapped. * Mac build has a permission issue (we also noticed this in our game) and is a straight forward fix to add
``` cd
Very fun actually! I wasn't sure if I was gonna enjoy it if it was text heavy but it wasn't.. It was light and easy to read and work out what to do! I definitely Recommend!
The character are super detailed, I love it. Sounds are also well done, I felt like Agent 0,7 xD
I really enjoyed the artwork and the humor. I don't normally play narrative games, so it was a nice chance to give one a try, even a short one for a game jam. I enjoyed the premise, though once some of it was just trial and error for me to find a path. I noticed another commenter mentioning that the game was quite easy-- it's an interesting problem that I've been thinking about recently, that some people might get good luck or bad luck on their first attempt at a game, and how that could color their view of the game from then on. If you guess every answer correctly, for instance, you might think the game is trivially simple, or you might even think that there are no wrong paths. Anyway, interesting to think about. Overall, and fun experience and a solid entry.
Woow, great work here ! Art is gorgeous and the concept is a very interesting way to approach the theme. Sound design is really good, perfectly in the theme. Seems to be a great Jam team. Keep it up ! :)
Congrats for the entry! o/ Really loved the character art and how the plot was going! I'm not used to play dialogue-driven games but I had quite the fun with your project!
Absolutely loved this game, very funny writing and great art/music. My only comment is that sometimes the text was a bit quick to advance without me clicking to progress it and so I missed a few lines. Otherwise, I'd love to play this as a full game!
Easy 5/5 for me, I want it to be a whole big game, please! I like the main character and the idea of keeping the story consistent, a great idea and even better execution. Music and art style were also superb, it took me a few tries to get it all right but I managed to beat the game :D
The game's graphics are so wonderful. I love this game.
The writting and the art is pretty good but I HATE that you called the evil organisation SUS.
Very nice art, and the writing is funny. Would love to see this as a complete game!
That's legit one of the best game I played on this jam. Everything is great. Gorgeous art, awesome soundtrack, hilarious dialog, and an original take on the jam theme ! That's a 10/10 for me.
This game looks really professional. Sound and visual do a great job together, all the dialog options are well done. The airport guard reminded me of anime Space Dendy :)
This game is very enjoyable; the options really give you a character to play and having to remember your lies is honestly the best part. Trying to pick the correct answer also gives you sort of an adrenaline rush that makes it want you to play more! I did fairly well until the end where I ended up blowing my cover and getting killed, but it was very fun!
It's not the kind of game I enjoy playing, but the art, the music and the funny script have kept me going for a long time, congratulations to the team
We played your game during our chill stream yesterday, here is the exact position in the video if you wish to watch us: https://www.youtube.be/watch?v=IQdJ_KaE1bI&t=6236s
The visual style of your game is great! it really feels like a manga where you are the main character :smile_cat:
The audio is good, the story and choices are really fun. Just one thing confused us a bit, we were not sure if previous lies made to different character impacted the next encounter. (I don't know how to phrase it, but it make more sense in the video)
Congratulation!
Great entry overall ! The game as a whole felt polished, and it really felt like the characters remembered what I said before. It's clever, refreshing and fun. Good job to the team !
@togis I watched your video. You ended too early! Each individual character remembers what you tell them.
But a different character doesn't know what you told anyone else.
That's what makes this game really fun. When you are in a conversation with more than one, you have to tell lies that keep them both from getting suspicious. Depending on which cover stories you told before, that can be very difficult.
I love conversation mechanics, and this has one of the best implementations of it I've seen yet. Keeping track of what lies I told to each person is incredibly engaging, and those individual suspicion bars are a nice resource management puzzle.
The story and writing for this game are also pretty good, and goes along well with the whole 007 parody aesthetic. 5 stars all across the board, this is basically perfect in my book.
I was thinking, "Oh, a scheme with jello? That's a fun lighthearted theme", and the game goes "... jello to destroy an entire country". :D The company is sus indeed.
"For our weekend jam" – is that how "jello" came to be? That was probably the best pun.
First attempt: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1004348513?t=2h19m57s
Didn't have time to finish, so I went back on another day and played some more.
Second attempt: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1006662463?t=3m
Must have taken a while to handle all the different permutations. This would be a tough one to extend to a full game! I think this is the first visual novel style game jam game I've played. Groovy music. Art looked good in some areas and a little rushed in others (as to be expected for a jam game).
What a clever and well made game! I usually dont have much patience with "text based games" but this one was quite entertaining. The whole production is very professional from the graphics to the music. Kudos to a very solid submission.
Great soundtrack, compelling story, and incredible artwork.
Really polished entry! You managed to get a lot done. I usually don't play jam games multiple times but I'm going to with this one. Awesome game!
overall loved the art i thought it was a great concept based on the theme great work on thinking outside the box
Spy action, good design, the story seems to move too fast, so is the music, but it's in the genre. Didn't get that should remember all the choices or at least choose my cover predicting that in the end there might be both... Still, the writing seeems all right, some jokes are there. Interesting approach. Maybe the main hero could be more... authentic (Indiana Bond like) maybe.
Great job, a really unique idea that looked very polished and sounded good.
I loved the game, the arts are beautiful in some cases the quality drops, like the volcano looking like different people doing it, the music is very good complete very well in the style of the game, I will be happy to see you doing upgrades in this game and making it commercial , a big hug, and I await your feedback on my game I will be grateful.
nice concept thanx guys
Cool game! Would love more variations on characters expressions, and sometimes the dialogues take some time to load (playing the browser version), but otherwise realy good job. And, amazing music, kudos to the composer!
Fantastic game!
I loved the art, the music, the text, everything. The game would be alright if you just had to answer one people at a time, but the idea of combining "enemies" really make it shine!
Great job all around and thanks for the game!
