I got an .net error (resolved)
@shad @clema Thank you for telling me, I messed up the publishing, try downloading Locked Together win-x64.zip https://krafter.itch.io/locked-together
@kr4ft3r new link worked, playing now, yay
I was able to run it and it gave me old school text based RPG vibes. Neat theme, but I did have some issues getting anything to execute. Talking/Looking etc. Needs integration with a ChatGPT text parser :)
Fun little text adventure game. The randomly generated inmates concept is very interesting! I wish there is a scroll bar to check the history text. I forgot how to use help.
I can't figure out how to talk to them about given topic...
@shad The only two commands really are "look (name)" and "talk (topic)" where topic can be politics, sport, or crime. So, for example, "talk politics". But yea, parser sucks.
@kr4ft3r if I said "talk politics" everyone reported that they have interest in this topic, but I was not able to actually talk to specific person about it.
@shad You can't talk to a specific person because you are all together and everyone can hear the conversation. Everyone randomly liking one topic is something that I should have prevented but ran out of time, as that is the most boring thing that can happen.
lmao it looks like a giant meme
There was one junky and 3 other brutes who hate drugs, and since the junky likes me he gave me his drug everytime I talked about a subject he likes, and he got a beating by all the other inmates everytime. The 3 others then proceeded to congratulate themselves by reminding me that they sure do love a good beating and talking about crime. This is ridiculous :joy:
An interesting and original take on the theme for sure, but other than that I fail to understand what else is there to do beside talking about 3 topics and seeing them beat each other up.
Now the junky just beat up another inmate because somehow he gossiped, the junky then took some drug to chill and got beat up by the inmate what the hell
@adamsmccall Yes, you got it right. Those ridiculous things are the whole point. The game is different each time you play. There are 5 random types - brute, stabber, rapist, junkie, gossiper - each with random likes and dislikes. They also got tables of relations with each other and hitpoints, just like you do, so they should be able to turn on each other until someone's HP gets too low in which case a random replacement arrives. I would call it a win if you survive until one inmate gets replaced. But yea I couldn't work on it longer than a weekend so it's rough and a little more than a meme, glad you found some laughter.
I started a fight :( and got stabbed. Really like the commodore 64 aesthetic and I actually found the dialog to be interesting at times and the plain text really makes you use your imagination. I guess "Prokleta Avlija" may has served as inspiration.
Interesting game! I like the simplicity if the mood-indicator, and the pretty colors of the names
Somehow, your game suffers a bit from unlucky RNG sometimes. The first few rounds I had some combinations that would beat eachother up, but not me. I also had a combination where I kept being fed drugs, but never was beateb up or rped at all. So I guess my character was pretty lucky in those cells ^^
I can see how it can become pretty nasty when the wrong people are locked in with the player. I had fun playing in the later rounds, where I had the feeling I could die anytime. The first few rounds felt borring once I knew that nothing would happen to my character
What engine did you use? Somehow I think I remember the icon, but I really can't remember ^^"
@skvader-418 I always wanted to read Prokleta avlija and hopefully I will one day.
@wouter52 Thanks, it's Monogame. Was really just trying out my finite state machine dll, it helped cut some corners but didn't end up using all its features.
Well, doing drugs loses you an HP as well. That's why junkie is self-harming when he is enraged (but harms you when he loves you). Brute and stabber harm those they are enraged about, rapist harms those he is either enraged with or ecstatic about, while gossiper just alters everyone's perception of their target. It's a system that easily fails to entertain when random personalities are not in conflict, but I really didn't feel like polishing the game further on Monday.
- The sound is pretty annoying - it would be cool to be able to speed up the text appearing, it takes a long time to show up - I think there was too much generic text, like them just saying "I like talking about this" or "enough talking about this" where it could just be cut down to like a name and + or -
I got a good laugh as the chain reactions took place - I like this kind of absurd humor.
A hilarious, innovative and on spot take of the theme!
Yuri: It's not ok to do drugs in this cell.
Yuri takes some drugs to calm himself down.
Pretty funny ahaha. I'm not sure if the game crashed of if I won? I was trying to getting everyone XD status, and I think I got it but the app closed immediately.
Well that was insane :D Whenever I talked about sport it set off a chain reaction that lasted for like more than a minute. Gotta stick to speaking about crime and politics I guess haha.
Kind of crazy, but not really much of a game. Needs some kind of built in goal...
Rapist who hates rape raped me when I talked about topics he likes 10/10
I don`t know why, but I am unable to talk about other topics than sport, politics
All but one of my cellmates liked sport, so I just spammed "talk sport". One of them eventually shared his drugs with me, to which my other cellmates reacted by stabbing and raping him. This is all kinds of messed up and I love it. Would love to see an expanded version with more in-depth gameplay, such as more conversation topics or greater cellmate variety - there's a lot of potential for hilarious chain reactions here.
As allov said, getting every cellmate to max happiness crashes the game. You might want to take a look at that.
