I made it to the end, but there were a lot of tiny issues that made the game frustrating. I appreciate there being a little description of the controls outside of the game, but someone should be able to play this with only being able to see the game itself. I appreciate the attempt to differentiate walking from swimming, but there is not enough walking to validate it having its own controls. It is a bit unnecessary. I loved the art in the background, but I really would have liked to see a player character that fit in with the setting, it was very distracting. The story design was also very confusing, as you never determine "the event" and there is also little reason to be curious about it if it wasn't for the goal listed on the screen. I do think that the flare should have a different particle effect because it was confusing for why no oxygen could come from it even though it had the same bubbles. I also think that freezing the character when removing the nail is easily the most frustrating thing because it almost kills you every time. I do think that when you go the wrong direction and get closed in, that a sound should play when the screen shakes, and I did not quite understand why you get a modern key from a treasure chest. But these are nitpicks. The door you have to unlock also should open the way the player is walking instead of into them because it does not make sense for the physics involved. I also had no idea where or why the boulders were falling in the long tunnel. One of the levers also required swimming into it instead of floating near it to activate it, which was also a bit frustrating. Lastly, the ending was very underwhelming. No secrets were uncovered, and no victory screen popped up, so the player had to refresh the site in order to play again instead of pressing R. I also think that the nail should be more obvious that you can click without swimming near on top of it, because it took a while to figure out what I needed to do or click on. In the end, it was very pretty and I liked the tease for a story but it did not follow through. I do believe that if given more time it would have been much better, but for now it was a short and slow experience. (The only reason I feel the need to go into this much detail is because there is a lot of potential here, and I truly wanted this game to succeed. It was enough to be the basis of a good game or a good demo at least and I hope you continue it after this jam)
