This game was too hard for me :( But overall idea was interesting!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD56 → Ant Conquest

didn't really understood the game. No matter what, enemy wins by spamming units.
feedback appreciated :) balancing is difficult, but generally if you can make large, singular groups of structures (ie; big clusters of a single colour), you will quickly overtake the evil termite forces
I liked the game, but a lot depends on randomness
It was confusing at first but once I remembered what each colour represents it became clear what I had to do. I had to open another tab so I could refer to it. It also took me ages to realise that >| shuffles and X clears blocks, this helps planning a ton.
THIS IS A FANTASTIC GAME! It's a shame the learning curve will put a lot of people off.
It could do with a fast forward button. Great music tracks.
Best game so far!
thanks so much for the feedback and for playing. i'd say our biggest regret in hindsight is not providing more of an in-depth guide. its our first game jam, so we definitely underestimated how important that stuff is
This is so, so clever and really well done too! I'm loving the minimalist pixel art style too!
Loved the game, idle type games with resource production is always fun to get into so well done!
tetris simulator
Very cool idea, the only thing I can suggest is to give somehow a more direct feedback of what's happening. There are many types of blocks and memorizing the matching between colors and effect is not easy to do from a single image in a few seconds, and the effect was not that explicitly visible from just the single line of units. Clever game nonetheless and very cool music
@sbeif, thanks for the feedback. Totally agree. The biggest regret we've got is the lack of onboarding/guides for the mechanics. I think we didn't appreciate how idiosyncratic things can get when you've been staring at the UI you've built for 3 days straight. Thanks for playing :)
I keep coming back to this. It's still the best game in the jam imo. Furthest I got:

The trick is to build lines not blocks. Start across the top, down the left and diagonally. Do not be tempted to fill gaps, this is not Tetris. Get connecting colours spread like a web before filling in the map.
More importantly, it's costs nothing to shuffle the next tile at the beginning. Use the early game to hunt for large 5-6 block shapes and 3-4 block shapes of a single colour.
Edit: Forgot to add that in the endgame when you've got the upper hand you can speed things along by deleting the orange (currency) and grey (spawns) blocks and go hard on red (offense) and blue (defense). Make sure you have some currency saved up first.
@super-hadoken i think reading comments like this is my favourite part about participating in the game jam. seeing people ACTUALLY want to play the game we made fills me with joy. you're making us want to continue developing the game after the jam...
also your strategy is totally on point. if you can stock up resources early enough, you can very quickly crush those nasty termites by spamming attack/defense
Super cool game, like the 8-Bit feel
Was a bit confused as to what was happening at first but once I started to get the idea it was a lot of fun! It would be cool if you weren't forced to wait around for mushrooms to generate but I had a ton fun building a little ant colony with each level!
SUper impressed with this, a full playable game with a very innovative gampley loop. And a full music player on top of that
Great game idea. Simply just need to figure out the mechanics of the game, and it becomes really interesting. I'm a little unsure about the balance at the later levels, there is a slight feeling that more and more the game is starting to depend on randomness, but actually it's for the best. All in all, this is a good game!
Really interesting little puzzle game! It also felt really polished, great work!
This game looks really polished. And meditative. Nice entry!
Nicely polished and a nice art style!
I just was like, what? and then hours later I stopped playing because time got away from me. haha! Nice little game, really fun. :D
