Incredibly simple, but super polished and charming.

Addicting, too. My fingers are a little warn out from all the repeated button pressing!

@noble-robot Hey, thanks for playing! For a post-jam version, I'm considering changing how digging works to allow holding the movement keys, except when breaking the gems... I'll keep an eye out for more feedback on that.

I got to the second level and took a break. I think it definitely needed hold-movement, my wrist after the first layer was hurting too much. But I loved what I saw, and I'll definitely come back if the feature is added. The graphics are simple but effective, and the sfx and bgm added alot to the mood. Great entry!

I think you could change a bit the controls to just hold the button instead of keep pressing, and make the pressing actually runs faster. Also the contrast of the second to third level blocks could be a little higger, on my screen were hard to see. But overall i liked!

Great game, love the simple but well polished art style. Found it a little annoying not being able to hold when digging especially considering the size of the level, but otherwise great game! :)

Simple but fun and addictive too! And the overall style and UI are nice too! Maybe it will be more challenging if adding a timer.

Music was nice. I agree that the controls could be adjusted to holding down a button. It gets tiring tapping every time to move.

It's simple but quite addictive. The music feels quite good too. Got to level 6 but got tired of clicking. I think the mechanics of the game is good, just add something else for the player to do and the game will be great! I think making a labyrinth for each level from the next level block (which you can't go through yet) would be a fun idea. And more kinds of blocks that do something different, like one-way block in mention labyrinth and so on...

Simple and well made! Good work!

Hold movement only works when walking on the final level :joy:

Move your square across the squares to collect coloured squares. Surprisingly fun. Nice polished game. Works perfectly on my phone.

So I actually think that requiring a button press for each dig is a very interesting game mechanic. It certainly is not very accessible--even my fingers are a bit worn out now--but I do think it is promising. In particular, the distinction between moving through already-dug tunnels, where I can simply hold the button, and digging new tunnels, where I have to painstakingly dig each block, is a *meaningful* distinction in my opinion. It makes digging a literally physically challenging task, which, you know, digging through rock is physically challenging.

It certainly seems unhealthy to actually spam a button with my finger for this long, but perhaps that idea could be incorporated in some way that is a bit less actually straining (and more accessible).

I thought it was neat how the gems became a bit harder to find as the game went on. I do wonder if there is anything else that could be done to make the game change a bit as it goes on, as it does get a bit repetitive despite the ramp in difficulty.

Something I really like is how there are essentially no consequences to messing up. The game is just about digging and finding gems, and it is not necessary to fight through zombies or be careful not to let the roof collapse. It makes for a somewhat relaxing, and in any case, very distilled experience.

I like the graphics and sound effects on the gems in particular. Very crisp and crystalline.

Minimal but nice looking style. Felt a little bit like work after a bit because of the repetitive nature and lack of challenge.

sephy 2021-05-13 06:37

Very professional looking and sounding! I'm impressed! I played it on mobile and didn't have any issue with the repeated tapping. Gameplay got a bit repetitive but there was a kind of zen like calming experience to it. Great work!

Polish and "juiciness" were amazing. it felt great to play. It became a bit repetitive quickly, though. Maybe throw in some blocks you want to avoid in the later levels? Maybe blocks that take 2 or 3 hits to break, so you CAN mine through, but going around may be quicker?

jonathan-lorenz 2021-05-13 17:00

Simple concept, but effective game. Not a big fan of the "one button press per digging", my fingers got tired pretty quickly. Also, I would have liked some sort of radar to guide me to the nearest blocks.

Simple and polished. The shatter effect was really nice. Did get a bit repetitive fairy quickly though.

alex-davies 2021-05-13 17:36

Cool game - almost therapeutic to play, or it would be if not for the button-mashing giving me what feels like carpel tunnel :) I'm guessing that's not intended. Other than that, a solid entry, but I feel like there could have been something more to moving down a level, other than just a colour change.
