A very fun game! It would be great if there was some kind of background music though, the eerie silence sometimes can be a bit daunting - besides that it was an incredibly enjoyable experience with a very interesting twist on what I surmise to be inspired by classic games such as Snake ball-bearing/marble mazes in real life. :D
Wow, this was a lot harder than I expected. Nice job! The art style is cute as H E C C. :D
Looks like you compressed the game in WebGL mode for Unity 2020, which is broken at the moment (It refuses to load in Firefox). You'll need to disable compression and rebuild before I can give this game a fair raiting. D:
The artwork is really nice! Gameplay wise I feel that the overall UX could've done with more polish - there's no indicator of health for the player character, for example. The controls also could've done with some additional love, as it feels somewhat clunky to control. I liked the audio design and the general premise (as a massive fan of Touhou games, how could I not? :D)
It's really heartwarming to hear that you pulled together as a family to make this! The graphics remind me so much of Atari and Commodore 64, I was really taken back in time! I grew up playing my parents' old machines, so it was great to feel like a kid again. The game certainly fits the theme for sure! My only real advice would be to try and give the gameplay a little more depth - however I understand you guys were running out of time. SDL2 is really hard to work with (I personally legged it and switched to GLFW and raw OpenGL, but then I am also a graphics nerd, take what I'm saying with a pinch of salt).
I hope you guys do more game jams together!
I adore this game.
The idea is really fun, and I can see the abstract application of the theme here and its really clever!
The art is absolutely stellar also!
Amazing job. The fact I got addicted to this speaks volumes, considering I'm quite cynical about games I play for extended periods of time. Maybe you should consider expanding on this for a proper release sometime!
This game feels really well-made overall. Everything about it screams quality! It's such a simple concept for a fantastic experience! My only advice would be to try and make the hit window for the pogo sword a little more usder friendly as it was possibly a bit too hard to time well? But otherwise, amazing!
This is a really fun game. Quite hard too if you don't do a load of puzzles. Thematically the visuals and audio work really well together. This game also adhere's to the game jam's main theme really well!
My only real suggestions for improvement are twofold: - There's mild clipping and z-fighting occasionally. If you fixed that, visually it'd be perfect. - The tutorial is many many words, and its hard to take it all on board on a first playthrough. Maybe "show not tell" could be applied a tad more to help out here?
Overall, if this was a full game, I'd happily buy it. It seems like with some minor ironing out this would be fantastic! :D
Seems really quite fun! My only suggestion here really is to add some background music. I know you have the background sound effects, but I think a bubbly backing track would really help this feel like a complete package. :)
Seems like a great concept! The art is fantastic, however the game seemed to stop functioning after the first level (For context - I played the HTML5/WebGL build), which was unfortunate as I wanted to play more! D:
