Well thought out logic. It took a bit before I realized that each character had a special skill. Once I figured that out the puzzles became even more fun to try to figure out.
Very difficult to play. In every case I either ended up stuck to a planet or shooting off into oblivion. The premise and mechanics, at first seemed really interesting and definitely like a type of game I would enjoy but when I was never able to achieve anything close to the goal it did bring in some frustration.
Really well done! Quite fun. Love it at the end when the trucks keep piling into each other! Out of all I've tried my current favorite.
Great game! Fun, entertaining and nicely polished. Out of all I tried I've spent the most time on this one. Only nit pick, the random generation (assuming that's what it is) sometimes creates two tall objects above/below each other effectively creating a wall you can't get through. Love the low poly look!
Good game. Fun to play, but then the repetitive kicks in (loop theme?). One suggestion, I kept typing the password and hitting enter. Wondering why nothing happened, then realized I had to click. Perhaps also allow "enter" to accept the password entry? Add in some more hacking options to flesh it out and you've got the start of a full blown game.
Nicely done! I really enjoyed playing although I wasn't sure what the 3 shotgun shells were for as I was never able to pick them up. Regardless really good for the limited jam time.
Broken Itch.IO link
Fun game. Good ides, decent mechanics. Took a little to understand the left/right in terms of you can't actually fly off the loop, and you don't have to aim for the pickups, just get in either the left/right/middle line and you automatically get what is in your path. The only change I'd suggest is some logic on pickup/barrier placement. A number of times they were literally on top of each other or as I flew into a new loop I'd hit a barrier as it was in my path before I was able to start controlling movement. Just a few tweaks and you've got something that is really engaging. Add more loops, etc to expand to a full blown game.
Interesting driving mechanic... felt like drifting... even when going straight! Definitely has some potential. Little things like actually spinning the wheels would add a lot visually. Also, the "jumps" were hard to clear as you just came out of a turn and it's hard to get up enough speed to start clearing 2 or 3 at a time. For what you did in the time limit, good job!
DItto on the other comments. Mechanics need some work but otherwise a good start!
Interesting mechanic... the more you play the harder it becomes due to what you are doing. I could see more levels with different layouts, of course as others have mentioned add in a score. Nice start.
Nice retro feel! Really liked it.
Neat game. Definitely a bit of a challenge as you learn the mechanics. First time through I got stuck at the end trying to work up a sequence to get me to the last card. Second time through success! Nice job.
Nice challenge. Took a bit to figure out the movement/goal but once I got that down it was pretty fun. Really funny visual when you shoot the enemies!
Fun game. A bit strange on the steering and it would be nice to bounce off or slide along a building instead of coming to an instant stop. Nicely done.
Fun game, well done on all visual/audio aspects. Not thrilled with the controls as most of the time to move in "normal" directions required holding down two keys but eventually I got used to it. The color changes as you die more was a very nice touch. At the end (after 12 deaths) and at the end (after winning) it just went back to me on the altar. Not sure if this was by design (stuck in a loop) or if there was a you win/lose message that was supposed to play. Kind of left me hanging as I didn't know if there was supposed to be more or something else to do. Having to kill yourself to get past certain hurdles was also an interesting mechanic. Overall I still really enjoyed playing it.
Fun game. I was getting pretty good at it however the longer you play you eventually run into a music loop. Almost like a stuck record skipping. Not sure if that was by design or a bug.
Nice game, but text alignment made the messages hard to read. I was playing the HTML5 version.
HTML version didn't work, I used the alt link/method and that did. Not sure if the asteroids are supposed to actually hit the ship, but I finally just stopped moving and shooting and everything for the next minute flew past me. Then it went to loop 2 and hung. Has promise and with some more work could be really fun.
Good game, interesting movement mechanic. Seemed fun although I kept dying and didn't understand why.
Great job! Feels well polished and fun, although hard, to play. It took a bit to figure out when to jump, but the hints in the early level, once I realized it was a hint, helped to get the hang of it. Not sure how many levels, but definitely a game I'd play again.
Hahaha! Caterpillar blimp! When you get big enough the physics kicks you way up to float in the sky. Given your circumstances it's still pretty well done. Obviously some glitches and loose ends, but even with those it was fun to play! Well done.
Pretty solid game play until the speed boost. Until then I was near perfect. After speed boost I was almost always missing. Maybe instead of the abrupt jump in speed scale in in relation to % of song? This way you'd gradually get used to faster and faster play.
Nice game play. I always enjoy puzzle games. Adding more levels and a polishing and I could see this as an IOS/Android offering.
Hahaha! Pretty funny! Nice theme. Once I got the hang of moving it almost felt like I was drifting around the track. Nicely done.
@skleembof Thanks for the feedback. Many of those are ideas I had for expanding it (or if I had left over time in the jam... yeah, whoever has that!). I was thinking different arrangements of the bricks, glow balls, etc. The aiming is just a bit off as I changed the cursor from the generic arrow to the target right at the end and missed that the aim path is based on upper left instead of center. Parameters for more/less challenge would include ball size, ball speed and two axis movement. I actually had two axis working just fine for movement, but it failed for ball launch as moving off the "equator" caused the spawning of balls to not follow your "looking" direction. Ultimately I just commented out that option to focus on core mechanics functioning properly.
@galse87 @skleembof @charlie-hall @oxropy @zeu31 Thanks for trying Space Loop. I fixed the targeting, adjusted the resolution so the HUD shows even when not in full screen and normalized the volume. Hopefully a better experience if you play it again.
Hangs on loading (HTML5 version).
Enemies swarm quite fast, it's a challenge to not die in the first few seconds. Otherwise nice game.
Nicely done! Once you learn the timing you can sneak past, usually, but that voice over was just a perfect compliment to the mood set by the graphics.
LOL! V3 challenge... pretty funny. Nice job.
I really wanted to like it. The concept is good and I was hoping to enjoy it... but... looks like you can sprint and jump at the same time. When holding shift the space bar doesn't register (on WebGL). So, I can barely make the first platform and unable to make it to the second. Am I doing something wrong? It just doesn't seem possible to make that second jump. If I'm doing something wrong, let me know, otherwise with a bit of a controls tweak I think this could be really fun.
Nice way to implement the theme. Pretty fun and a challenge to get used to the steering mechanism (or lack of (by design)). Took a few times to realize hitting the flag was causing me damage, but otherwise pretty straightforward to play.
You did meet the theme... your commentary loops! :) I really like the concept, it reminds me of a game I did for a jam earlier this year. https://hungrycatgames.itch.io/the-mars-incident I wrote the mars one in Unity in about 20 hours... so your 10 hours you said you put in had you about half way to your goal/concept. I'd be happy to discuss the approach I used if you're interested.
Fun little game. Made it to 86 seconds and that's with mostly steel coming out at the beginning. Interesting concept. As a single player I didn't feel like it was making much difference as the pink player was doing nothing. Perhaps an AI could be added to help out in 1 player games?
Nicely done. I really like these "retro" style pixel graphic games. Fun game play, nice power ups, a good effor!
Fun for a bit, but that missile seems to penalize good driving. I'd rather just keep evading more and more police instead. Overall nice job.
Well done. Nice twist with the direction and the power ups. I played it a handful of times and found it challenging each time.
Good game... the dog was a nice touch. Took a little bit before I figured out I could refresh my life bar.
Interesting game and I liked it, although the apparent linear path does greatly limit replay. Perhaps different outcomes from different actions? Fights were pretty easy, especially if you skipped a few rounds before attacking but I think that was part of the intended "story" that the player is following.
Really nicely done! I can see it was a team effort. Fun to play, great pacing, awesome graphics. Well done guys!
Interesting concept but I had difficulty switching out inventory and planting seeds. Couldn't tell if I had succeed or just dropped that inventory item. A bit more clarification on the controls and some positive feedback in the interface would really help.
Good game! I'm not normally a fan of card games but I found this one quite enjoyable as the story line added substantially to it. Sounds and voice acting really helped to set the mood.
Easy to play, and to win. So not sure how it fit the theme ?
Great game! Easy to control, suitable graphics and sounds and engaging game play. Definitely fits the theme. I played it a bunch of times.
Nice combination of action and management. I did fine what I think was a bug in that I placed an empty plate on a cabinet and then couldn't plate up anything else but otherwise everything worked as expected. Also, awesome tutorial, especially given the time constraints!
Tower Defense games are some of my favorites and you did not disappoint. Although the ramp up in difficulty was very abrupt! Then again it was inevitable. Only adjustment I'd suggest is less aggressive movement on the rotate. It took me a while to get control of the camera, the rest, though, was spot on. Well done.
This was definitely one of my favorites. The graphics were a nice change from the usual while the pickup points were a bit difficult to hit, once you got the hang of it being able to solve the puzzles was easily doable in the given time. Nicely done.
That was pretty cool. Definitely different than most of the games you see. I read through some of your comments and would like to see those extra features finished up and added in. I think it would add even more to the game. The only difficultly I had was the flying part. It was pretty hard as I guess I kept colliding with flowers or something. Once I got the hang of it though I was able to head up and attack the box spider. Nicely done.
Interesting concept, not sure if there was anything I could do to make things better or if that's just the timeline you had set in the game for everything to collapse. Pretty humerous.
Great game! Real nice change up on a known game. Animations and graphics are very well done, especially with "bullet time" kicking in. Nicely polished and fun to play. Keep on making them like this!
Great game for the time frame! You packed a lot into a short time. Good feel, responsive, and definitely fit the theme although I was able to hold out for longer than I expected!. Well done.
Interesting take on the theme. I found it difficult to figure out if it was me or the gods that were blowing it over. Perhaps a bit more forgiving on the tipping action would help to learn how to play.
Thanks to everyone (@skleemboffor, @zozol, @trigrab, @bastienre4, @andreia, @b3b0, @silverlybee, @spice-cabinet, @frozenfire92, @lachlan-james) for the comments so far. I'd like to address a few of them.
Being that it is rock/paper/scissors, it is going to be random for your opponent. Since the theme was "delay the inevitable" I set the opponent to have unlimited resources to fit the theme. You are always going to lose, it's just a case of how long can you hold out.
If I wasn't using that theme then you and the opponent would start with the same pieces and depending on how well you do there very well could be winning scenarios for you as the player. There will still be the random element however in the "non theme version" you would be able to work off that randomness to determine a pattern. For example, let's say you send in mostly rocks and you win most of the fights. That means that you went up against mostly scissors (wins) and rocks (draws). So it's safe to assume the opponent might be heavier in papers (since they would have won any of those fights) and rocks (draws) and lighter in scissors (since your rocks would have beat them). The strategy now becomes trying to select from your pieces in later rounds in order to have an advantage. If I think the opponent is now biased in pieces towards paper I'd be better off sending in scissors.
Of course right now it's just a simple AI, but if in an online version you're up against a human opponent, then they would be considering the same with your pieces and might go all in on rocks assuming you're going heavy on scissors.
There will still be randomized match ups but what I really envisioned was everyone rushing to the center, then just one from each side "entering the ring" to fight it out. Basically a quick animation on each side with one being attack and the other being losing. For example when the paper snaps to attack the rock might crumble to a pile of dust. After that few second long fight the next two would enter and repeat until that round is over. You get back any pieces that won or drawed, and lose any that lost.
The whole vision is not possible for a single developer to create in the time limits and constraints of a jam but I find these very useful for testing out core ideas for possible future fully polished games.
Really well done. Felt quite polished and played well. Graphics were outstanding. Great effort for such a short development time window.
Took a bit to figure out what the white, green and red meant but once I did it was fun trying to discover all the options. Not sure if I did find all but enjoyed trying to.
Great concept to fit the theme! The two parts fit together nicely and the audio worked well. Nicely done.
Nice concept and switch on a common theme (TD). Found the twist pretty interesting but had difficulty in getting some of the food guns to see the people. A bit of polish and I think this has potential.
Nice tower defense game. I always enjoy these and if not for your satellite bug I think I'd still be playing it. Good job.
Nice game. Very fun to play, difficult enough to need a few attempts but easy enough to win. Great mechanics, controls, pacing, etc. Well done!
Pretty fun but I ran into cases where the diagnosis was in english and other times it was in gibberish, yet both times I had the correct combo of pills. Not sure if this was by design or a bug? It seems if it was in english and I had the right combo I got to the next level, otherwise I had to repeat the level. Regardless still fun to play. Nice idea!
