I really liked the artwork of the game. Its definitely unique. the Northern door put me in a loop between two rooms, i wasnt sure if that was intentional

raptor851 2022-04-05 05:18

It was originally intended to be an elevator linking the two floors, the art wasn't complete so it was swapped with just a normal door so there was at least something, unfortunately since both of them are up it's easy to hold up and loop yourself, the downside of last minute changes.

pnutbutterprincess 2022-04-05 05:41

I really liked the artwork! I was a little confused by the door as well, but it was a very interesting concept!

2022-04-05 05:56

I liked the game nice artwork but the doors can be a bit difficult but other than that good game

boclow 2022-04-05 07:38

Cool artwork and style. I liked the overall feel of the place and atmosphere. The hit boxes were bit tedious at times but otherwise it was a very solid clean concept. Liked it.

nate-the-great 2022-04-05 17:23

The artwork is awesome and the gameplay is nice. The ending is unexpected but I like it

mknooihuisen 2022-04-05 19:45

Absolutely loved playing this on stream! I'd say the hitboxes for buttons doors and boxes could be improved a bit, but it was really great. Another bit of feedback I missed on stream, you could leave the character's reaction text up until the player moves away, the fade out time seemed abrupt.

Going through the VoDs now, so the highlight will be up later today!

raptor851 2022-04-05 19:59

@mknooihuisen Thank you, yeah, the timings of the text boxes was manual, i wanted them to stay up while you moved since the game was on a timer, some do go away a bit too quickly.

There is actually somewhat of a "hidden" feature, tilde (~) brings up the command console, dialog is executed via command so you can read all of them in there. It's mostly all flavor text though, so you didn't really miss anything! It was mostly used when developing the rooms but i left it turned on in the release. You can actually 100% break the game with this too though as you can execute any script in the game at any point without restriction.

I meant to replace the font as well with the bold version without seraphs, made the text a little hard to read on some screens. Wouldn't be a jam though if we didn't all have regrets about the stuff we ran out of time on!

The controls felt a bit rough for sure. I often wasn't sure where exactly I need to be to X something and the hitboxes got weird sometimes. I think the capital offender though, is definitely that 1/2 door. This game is absolutely carried by the art style though. There were a few animation frames with stray pixels but it was stunning work in that regard.

ludumdaredevil 2022-04-06 23:04

Love the graphics!

mateu 2022-04-06 23:13

This was a really good take on the theme. I quite liked this one. It took me two attempts to beat it. The only thing that confused me was using blood as "oil". That was strange. Other than that, everything was pretty logical and it was fun to explore the ship. Sure, the hitboxes were a bit wack, that that was a very minor problem for me. The fade out animation was also pretty good and it did make me feel like oxygen was running out. Also, why the heck was there a dead person in the vents?

gdesecrate 2022-04-06 23:58

I wish the game had game over animation and ryona tag.

hungrycatgames 2022-04-07 00:31

This was definitely one of my favorites. The graphics were a nice change from the usual while the pickup points were a bit difficult to hit, once you got the hang of it being able to solve the puzzles was easily doable in the given time. Nicely done.

pickyburrito49 2022-04-07 01:08

Well done, I quite enjoyed the hand drawn graphics!

sammot 2022-04-07 01:31

The Web version doesn't allow me to move the character, downloading the windows version worked though. The art style along with the subtle vignette made it look great.

jk5000 2022-04-07 09:33

Looking great, but I have no idea what to do.

theludovyc 2022-04-07 10:27

I like drawed graphics ! Maybe need some background music :)

raptor851 2022-04-07 11:15

@sammot yeah, web versions are iffy, they act differently depending on your browser unfortunately :/ @jk5000 I do wish we'd had time for me to put in a quick restart (maybe with hints), perhaps for a post-jam version @theludovyc there actually is some! just not in the hallways, it's VERY subtle though, meant to just be slightly mood-setting. I think on the web version it's even quieter than it's supposed to be however.

raptor851 2022-04-07 11:25

@mateu that actually wasn't the original puzzle in that room, some puzzles were changed literally mid-day monday, we ran into issues and didn't have all the assets ready to do our original storyline, so I took what we had and re-ordered it. I had a syringe graphics, broken door puzzle, and a dead body to work with...my brain did the rest.... I know using blood to lubricate doesn't make a lot of sense when you really think about it but most people have seemed to figure it out.

The dead person was another holdover from the original, the room above it that's not accessible (as it wasn't completed) originally was tied to the kitchen for that puzzle. (This is why there's red doors to, i closed off everything not complete and marked the doors as broken, figured at least with them there "broken" it would feel more like you were on something larger but just damaged)

arihan10 2022-04-08 02:15

Nice puzzle platformer hindered slightly by technical constraints. As you mentioned in the description, some of the hitboxes are very hard to interact with, and the lack of sound makes it boring to play (given that most of the gameplay is moving between doors). With some polish it can be a really fun entry though. Good job!

artilor901z 2022-04-08 02:57

Cool artwork! nice job~

tsugumi 2022-04-08 04:38

I like the art style. But got lost my way after entering several similar rooms.

goateejoe 2022-04-08 05:17

I enjoyed this one, with more time and polish this one could be really good

gbgames 2022-04-08 15:26

I had to turn up the volume to max to hear the audio, so I am glad I read the comments above. It definitely changed the feel of the game, especially when entering a room with a droning sound.

It took me three tries to "win". As mentioned above, there were a few times I walked into a room and immediately popped back out due to how the subsequent door was placed.

I liked the hand-drawn art, including the parts that looked partially erased to give that "hand of the artist" kind of feel. The dimming as your O2 gets lower was a nice touch. The combination puzzle is one of those that I imagine many of my fellow Americans getting stuck on. B-)

raptor851 2022-04-08 16:01

@gbgames yeah, i think that's an issue mostly with the web version, on some browsers (chrome and edge mostly) it seems to cut the volume nearly in 1/4. (though it's already fairly low to begin with, but it's not supposed to be SILENT though!)

not much I can really do about that, unfortunately,I would have to have had time to make an options menu for volume controls to support multiple browsers, it does seem to work best in firefox though which is what I tested the webassembly version on, i do suggest the download versions for the best experience, the web version is just for convenience (as many people don't like downloading)

allax 2022-04-08 21:55

Good graphics, interesting gameplay, but sometimes it's hard to understand what the game requires of you

slecornu 2022-04-09 12:00

Really creative use of pen and paper to create the environment, but I would also have to agree the collisions could be a bit more accurate. However I appreciate you kept this short and simple, a small scope allows you to focus on areas you care about and it really shows! :)

flaterectomy 2022-04-09 17:03

I'll not mention the hitboxes, you're aware already.

I played it twice but got stuck. I opened the toilet door at the end of my first playthrough, but don't know what I did in order to do so. During my second playthrough I couldn't figure out what I had done to open it. It mentions oil, but I don't think I ever found any.

I dig the art style, it's a cool hand drawn vibe. I wish you had a walkthrough, then I would've given it a third go with my hand held so I could complete it.

lomna 2022-04-09 17:03

The art style and the background droning sound gives the game a really great mood. I got stuck in a few walls but it is a good experience

arya-s 2022-04-09 17:53

Very unique and cool art style, almost looks like you drew it on paper and scanned it in.

I struggled a bit with the puzzles, sometimes because I pressed X too many times and picked up something without reading the text in time. It was also a bit disorientating, I think you could keep the separate floors a bit more visually distinct.

Nonetheless, I think it's neat little game!

666savior 2022-04-10 05:30

Pretty good entry, the inconsistency of the hitboxes made it a bit hard to figure things out. Once i did find out where to stand it was a bit easier

cookie-chr 2022-04-11 20:13

The web version has a weird bug: when I touch the full-screen button, the game loses contact with the keyboard (pressing keys doesn't affect the game), and doesn't gain it back even after I make the screen small again, I can only reload the page.

Played the game on not-full screen. Great job with the mood! I like the graphics as well, I was about to suggest some background music but now I read there actually is one.

eptwalabha 2022-04-14 23:05

I really enjoyed playing your game. I think the controls where a bit finicky (at least on the web version). If you plan on working on a post-ludum dare version, I would suggest you to implement a point-n-click kind of controls (mouse only). That said, I see that there were a lot of work in your entry. Good job.

oneowerse 2022-04-20 05:04

a good game but it was a little difficult for me to understand the logic and movement of the player, I had difficulty passing level 1, but this one makes the game interesting, you made an extra art I like it, good luck
