Pretty interesting game idea which I haven't seen at all yet. I think it would be great to always see which block is coming up, so it's possible to plan a bit ahead. Otherwise it feels like it's too much down to luck. But it's a really solid entry, good job!

I think your game idea is very cool and you implemented very well. I was confused at first on what to do but got the hang of it pretty quickly. Good job!

Pretty cool idea for a game! The graphics are really nice and the sound effects are satisfying. I feel as if the game mode could be adjusted a bit to make it more interesting. Good game overall.

Great game! I like the "plague-free" towns concept, and execution in general feels quite solid in general. I didn't experience any issue. Once I realised how exactly I needed to enclose my villages gameplay quickly became addicting. So far I've reached Noble rank

Well done!

This is a very unique concept and I had a lot of fun with it :) I was a bit lost at first but once I understood what to do I had a good time with it. Good job! I think perhaps just putting a brief little instructional text on the menu screen and some nice ambient or background music would have kicked this one up just a bit more.

Neat game. The graphics and audio are quite polished and I'm a sucker for tile placement puzzles. I like how the score system encourages me to surround villages early, but the balance between villages and land seems to be a bit off. I found the best strategy was to make a big wall around almost the entire map, then to use all the mine income to wall off the rest. https://i.imgur.com/hzplVA5.png

Timely quarantine concept, and the trumpet sound added a lot. I also liked the way that the tiles and buildings transformed when you surrounded them with walls. I replayed the game a few times and managed to get to baron/baroness level after understanding the mechanics better.

To improve: My main issue was that water and trees didn't count as walls. I wanted to use them strategically to boost my efficiency but instead they broke my enclosure leaving me confused as to why it wasn't working.

Thanks for the feedback so far! I have updated the splash screen to explain the basic mechanic. :)

frosty 2020-04-26 03:13

@googlefrog, nice catch. I was hoping that wouldn't be possible.

I think one workaround would be to have a couple of "cursed" tiles where if they are surrounded, you get 0 points.

It doesn't really feel like the game hits the theme very well- you're building up the towns rather than trying to keep them alive.

715 my first try where I made smaller towns, 1051 my second try when I went with one giant wall (and then a smaller 2nd one with the extra walls from the first). I think that all landmarks should provide points every turn, with towns/towers just providing more. Not showing the whole map at once I think was a bad decision, particularly horizontally where there's a half-tile's worth of scrolling space.

Overall a fun game with some interesting decision making. Good job!

I really like this kinda meditative gameplay. Shame, that it misses the theme, but it's fun to play, well polished and I can choose my pace of playing it. Spent some time in it with joy!

Really interesting idea, love the gameplay and the tetris-shaped blocks. The sound effects and art also matched the simplicity of the gameplay well.

adamv 2020-04-30 04:11

Really fun and well made! It took me longer than I'd like to admit to realize that the "hills" didn't count as walls (which was a little confusing since the water does)

kaisean-games 2020-04-30 09:34

Didn't get the theme here, but I still enjoyed this game.

This reminded me a bit of the Carcassonne tabletop game.

The gameplay is fluid, so good job on that. I'd just show a bit more pieces in the future. It's very hard to optimize anything without having at least a bit more insight in what's coming in the future.

It reminds of very old RPGs. Nostalgia kicks in :p Good job!

Nice strategy game - the style fits well, and the sound effects are fitting too. Hadnt seen this mechanics before..cool. At first I didnt realize the water counts as wall, this comes in handy. And.. there is one bug, that after reloading the page sometimes the walls turn in 180 degrees instead of 90 (which requires a reload, I think). All in all: Very good, I managed to become Great King. :crown:

Interesting mechanic. This game is not at all in the theme, but I had a bit fun to play it. It's clean and the strategy is good. Need a little polish (the sound is very poor) to be a good little game.

eva 2020-05-06 04:27

I really enjoyed this game! I like the sprites too. Got 661 points. For some reason I thought the bushes counted as walls, but other than that I didn't have any problems.

aceofsquares 2020-05-08 03:36

Managed to get over 700 points. The art reminds me of the cat and mouse game (mouse trap? I think) from the old windows systems. It's polished and a decent little puzzle game.

mika-la-grand 2020-05-11 17:09

Let me start off by saying that **diagonals are not included**. I'm not sure why you say they are, because diagonal walls don't count as connections. The majority of the time I played, I didn't understand the game just because you said that diagonals were included even though they aren't. Once I had figured that out, the game was actually quite fun. Though, I wish that blocks would have four rotations (full rotation) instead of the two rotations (one horizontal and one vertical).

hungrycatgames 2020-07-06 22:35

Nicely done. Picked up over 1000 points once I got the hang of it. The diagonals were a bit confusing as I thought they you didn't need to do them so I had a few zero point games until I got the rules.
