A welcoming little world you have created. Transition between walking and riding was well executed, that first hornet ride, feels good man. Sweet Tunes, mixes well with aesthetic. Ain't nothin' broken bout 'dem PS1 styles.

ooo love the aesthetics and the vibe. wasn't sure what was the objective but then I read the instructions here. (p.s. would've been funny if controls for movement were WASP)
This is a nice game. The music is great and the gameplay itself works well.
Very chill musics, and graphics are also nice. Even unlocked that mysterious skin. Cool one!
Love the retro graphics and very fitting music. Nice controls, easy to pick up and play. There might be an issue as killing hornets actually end up making your score lower. My highest scores were when I did absolutely nothing, or perhaps im missing something.
I cant find the spider and, i suppose, pike them with the hornet. The graphic is good and the idea is awesome. Good job
The graphics are wonderful, taking me back to the PSX days. I was really surprised by the scale, when the camera zooms out - I think that is a fantastic idea and probably the best idea in the whole game. Really liked that.
It was difficult to figure out what to do, took a couple of rounds, but once I beat the minigame on the Hornet I understood I could finally kill all the hornets I wanted! Really nice atmosphere and music. Good job, definitely make another game with this art style, I would play it.
@pixeltech yeah, the game is missing one more mechanic to encourage the player to kill hornets. I was going to include ant villagers running around that you had to keep alive, but I ran out of time.
Currently you can lose if you don't kill the hornets, but its very slow. When they land they add to the weight, so if there are too many hornets flying around, eventually enough will land to end the game. The spider will reach the end before the weight limit is reached though.
My untested idea for the gameplay loop was that the player would have to balance killing hornets to protect the villagers, while still having enough hornets to be able to fly up and push back the spider. Unfortunately the lack of villagers removes any sense of urgency to kill the hornets, especially since they don't damage the player in any way
@plepletier the "spider" is just the giant brown box on top of the village, moving along the spider web. I didn't have time to model a spider :/
anyways thanks for playing
@skleembof That makes sense. The features you intended to have would have made this an outstanding little game. All the assets and the whole vibe is so good! You should be proud even if you ran out of time to implement all intended features.
A fun game with a nice camera, although you were missing some colliders around the blades of grass but overall pretty nice!

Love the aesthetic and very creative concept. Impressive what all you were able to incorporate in the given amount of time!
I love the graphics! You somehow made ants and hornets look realistic but also friendly, which I thought was impossible. Had a lot of fun flying around looking at the world. All in all impressive entry!
I like the style! Great job with the models and animation. Even knowing that the spider was just a box, I had a hard time tracking exactly what was going on, and why I was losing! Also you can just spam-click both mouse buttons to win the minigame quickly. :)
like the retro graphics.. had no idea what i was doing.
This is really cool! Your idea is spot on, and the world felt really lively. The music complimented it nicely. I think your game suffers from two things: the first being the amount of bugs. Sometimes it just felt really confusing as to why things would happen. And the second is the controls. I had to read the ld page, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but the fact that there were so many controls to remember didn't help. Anyways, if you could get those few things fixed up, this is honestly a really great submission.
Wow, this was alot of fun! Something oddly satisfying about wrangling up a hornet and ride it around. I ran around yeeting dead ants off the map to my hearts desire. Great job!
Wonderful presentation. Playing it was genuinely fun, although getting the hang of it took a while. The theme comes through quite well. It's missing small touches like clearer instructions and perhaps sound effects to make things feel really tactile, but it was a pleasant experience regardless.
Implementing a flight controller during a jam is impressive. Doing it alongside all these other mechanics is nuts! Nice job!
I did find that I could just sit directly under the spider on a hornet and the spider kept resetting. If you wanted to add some more difficulty, maybe once you reset the spider, that hornet falls and you need to get a new one?
I found the weight mechanics really difficult to manage. I really liked the feel of riding a hornet and I loved the look of the ant and hornets but I think overall it was just a bit unbalanced.
Really cool idea, and I love the mechanics involved! Taming a hornet is kinda neat, and I like the unique goal of reducing the weight on the village. I would be really interested to see a polished version of this!
Cool idea. And I really like graphics and animations. Good Job!
Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on my stream!

That was pretty cool. Definitely different than most of the games you see. I read through some of your comments and would like to see those extra features finished up and added in. I think it would add even more to the game. The only difficultly I had was the flying part. It was pretty hard as I guess I kept colliding with flowers or something. Once I got the hang of it though I was able to head up and attack the box spider. Nicely done.
The mechanics and art style are truly amazing. That pixel world looks sooo cool. The music and a lot of details makes world even greater. Good job! As a beginner, I am very inspired by how people make such games in just a few days
Pretty good. At first it was hard to understand what to do, but if you read the instructions, everything is clear. love this graphics :)
graphics are good, i like the idea
Nice game, good graphics, but I think you should make tutorial
Love the graphics, amazing job!
Jeje I love the graphics of this game, somehow it reminds me to PS1 games (Like bugs life).
Also I loved the jumping animation.
Good job, thanks for this entry.
Great entry, had a lot of fun.
The ant corpses are very hard to make out as they have almost the same color as the ground. I think the level area could be a bit smaller (or the ant a bit faster). The idea is pretty fun and the visuals are neat - i really like the look of the hornets - but as i said the look lacks a bit of visual clarity at times.
I died twice to the weight and once to the spider - but i couldnt see it. Like i checked to look up a bunch of times but necer saw a spider... I am pretty sure i just looked at the wrong spots but it wasnt pretty clear to me.
The "taming"-minigame was a nice touch btw.
As I see others have already commented on, those "PS1-graphics" were awesome. What an awesome idea - this felt like the first level of a much larger game, not just a tiny-game-jam-thing. Well done!
Interesting concept, loved the low res style and how expansive the world felt. Interacting with the hornets was fun too, found myself flying around exploring for a few play throughs.
I loved this concept, I think I'll keep playing this for some time :)
I like the graphics, it's a refreshing game gameplay-wise as well. There are a lot of things packed into the game which makes it a bit hard to figure out at first.
I do think you're really stretching the jam rules: "Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline." There are several items on your list that don't fit this criterion. It's obviously a gray zone but it feels like you are giving yourself extra time this way.
The graphics were amazing, I really dig the PS1 style. I was however kinda confused about my goal as a player, but I figured it out eventually.
Overall, I am terrified of hornets, 10/10 would experience the terror again!
@iamwave All of my changes were either fixes for bugs that prevented the game from being played properly or workarounds to bugs I couldn't easily fix. I didn't add any new features, I made sure all of my changes fit the rules to the wording.
I did do a lot of bugfixes because many of the game systems relied on a finite state machine that I had to rush towards the end of development, so minor oversights led to unexpected behavior which also made it easy to knock out a bunch of bugs with a few changes.
Can you point out some changes that you don't think fit the critera? I added a sprint button as a workaround because the character moved very slowly on the webGL version (didn't even move on some machines). Since the speed seems to vary on different machines and browsers, I added a sprint button just in case you end up with a particularly slow ant.
I have the original release on the itch page if you want to compare them. The features are the same except for game breaking bugs. Once you mount your first hornet, the rest of them get stuck in flying state becoming invincible and never landing. The hornet spawner doesn't work because I used the wrong hornet prefab, and the game never ends because the hornets never land and the spiders position isn't registered properly most of the time (except in rare cases)
Cute retro graphics! Really liked the concept and visuals. I even unlocked the secret skin! Great job.
This feels like a level that could be straight from a 90s bugs life game. Look and feel takes me back to my childhood playing the ol' ps1. Really well done
This is such a cool game. The presentation is awesome, I really dig the low poly aesthetic. Music fit the mood but was a bit repetitive.
Taking a hold of a hornet and flying around the stage made for a genuinely fun experience.
Wow, the PS1 style graphics really surprised me. The models and textures are done very well, I liked the world of the game and the music. Of the minuses I can highlight the gameplay, the tossing mechanics are made a little crooked, and I never once hit the wasps. But despite this I liked the game, very good!
Biological oriented games is my weakness. It's really cool to play as insect! Great idea! Good realization!
Really impressive. I like the main aesthetic which reminds me my old PS1. I would like to knwo which engine you used. Interesting gameplay - strange world. Pretty well done ++
I was super surprised to see so many systems integrated into the game! I like the atmosphere and the world you've built. Sometimes a lot of hornets decide randomly to land and I can insta-lose even with only 2 WEIGHT  I would have also liked if I start with zero weight and I am kind of able to see what makes the weight go up because sometimes it was a bit unclear - maybe a warning sign can be added at the places where you currently need to take action. Anyways, for a one-man-army this submition is super impressive :)
