I liked the graphics, music, and just the mood overall but there were some parts that weren't very fun. A lot of the things just felt kind of tedious. In particular the yellow potion which I had far too much trouble getting out of that tight corridor. Nevertheless, I rated the game very highly overall since I like the overall premise and (aside from that cursed yellow potion) also the execution.
Wasn't a fan of the text font but I was a fan of the message of the game. Yet at the same time it wasn't necessarily fun. Which I imagine probably wasn't the goal anyway given the depressing topic. If I had one actual complaint it would be the repetitive music and later the dolphin sounds, they got a bit annoying pretty quickly. Overall, I rated this game rather highly.
I can't get the hang of the stacking, the clowns slip right off.
I really enjoyed the game despite its simplicity. Loved the atmosphere, sucked me in a for a good few minutes.
I have no idea how you managed 111, but it was a fun game. I spent a good few minutes trying to improve before realizing my ineptitude and giving up lol
I agree with @pascone, the game felt incredibly linear. It seems like only the last choice matters. Nevertheless, I enjoyed exploring the dialogue and overall really liked the game. Honestly I think this might be my highest rated so far despite being a text adventure.
I liked the game, the rng can feel pretty unforgiving sometimes though since at least 2 problems rely on the electricity. Nonetheless I suppose that might be part of the challenge. Solid game.
Bklolo is right, the link doesn't work.
I loved the artstyle
I enjoyed the art and the mechanics of the game, the gameplay was both fun and at times frustrating but overall a very nice entry. I encountered a pretty funny bug though. After you are dead if you get hit by a portal's attack your body still gets pushed back. If it pushes you into an essence it still counts towards your final score so for me it went from 8 to 9 while I was already dead. I don't know if you have any intentions of updating your game after the jam but if you are, you might want that fixed lol
There is something charming about the game but it's also a bit frustrating. At first I didn't even realize the bar at the top because the game window in itch.io was too large but even after going full screen waiting for the bar to fill up in order to move my third rock took much longer than I would have liked. There are a couple of glitches with dropping the third rock as well since you can drop them outside the invisible barriers but... I wouldn't really mind that if there was some sort of restart button but I tried pressing R and nothing really happened...? Maybe that's on me I don't know. Either way, I did enjoy the game and like I said the music and art are rather charming. It just has a couple of things that might need fixing.
This is the first entry I've played that I can say with confidence is hilarious or at the very least amusing. I can't believe you made me look forward to what my appliances would say next!
The game is very intuitive, almost impressively so. It gets boring REAL quick, however. After reaching just 2 minutes I didn't feel like continuing which based on your description is the only goal. I think it's because there are only 2 minigames and they never change in difficulty or style. The game could use some variety.
@harrison-dunn Thanks for the feedback, I agree I should have added sound and definitely some sort of goal. Originally I intended to add more content to make up for the lack of a goal but yeah that obviously didn't occur. I will update the game once the jam period ends and take these criticisms into account. Also, I did try and get some sleep but I still felt like a zombie for a couple of days lol.
@xeke-death That's a bug that I've found myself and fixed in the unity project already. This was my first Ludum jam though so I wasn't sure if I was allowed to make any changes after publishing the game and thus the bug remains on the itch build. Still, thank you for bringing it to my attention. If you or anyone else finds anything else that's buggy I would appreciate having it pointed out.
@goddoesplaydice That's the plan, thanks for holding my game in such high regard.
@roboolet Already added some new plants and other small fixes, it's too bad I can't update my entry. Making more plants is pretty simple since I used scriptable objects. Now if only making the art could be as fast and easy... PotatoCapsule.png
When you die holding some blocks the blocks stay when you revive...? I don't think it's intentional since it feels like when I can't really pick those up but I am also unsure since the blocks you do place properly stay. But expected bugs aside, Overall I liked the art and sounds. If I had one complaint about the game it would be that I can't last longer than 10 seconds but maybe I just haven't gotten the hang of it yet. The game as a concept and as a whole is pretty good, nicely done!
Just like some other people, I was left with mixed feelings about this game. Overall, the game seems to have a solid concept but unfortunately, it wasn't executed to the best of its potential. The controls can be hard to adjust to and the pivot on the ship is a bit odd to say the least. All that being said, it was still a pretty funny entry.
Incredibly entertaining and surprisingly not as overwhelming as the instructions would have mislead me to believe. An excellent entry.
Great entry, had a lot of fun.
@skleembof I didn't address the first comment before but you can in fact jump though now I wonder if it might be an interesting idea to remove that ability. Also I appreciate the suggestions, if I revisit this project I am sure to consider adding some of those features.
A pretty impressive game, it's hard to find anything to criticize about it. Art style, music, gameplay, pretty much everything was done well if not perfectly executed. If I had to mention something was that the gear comparison had me a bit confused at first(ground gear text on left and equipped gear on right) mainly since I didn't realize it was there at first so for at least a good few seconds I thought I kept getting the same equipment but it didn't take me long to notice so it's not at all a big deal just something worth noting.
This is a definitely pretty cool game for your first entry. There are a few small problems however namely how it can sometimes be kind of hard to tell if you are going left, right, up, or down. The only times I could tell was when there were balloons in the area which wasn't always so you could probably consider adding some parallax objects in the background into any similar future entry (for this one the clouds would do).
Also, on my first run it didn't immediately click for me that I could touch and should touch the rockets since in my mind they were obstacles. I'm not sure how you would go about fixing that. I understand you did write down that you could collect the rockets in your instructions but I like to first play the games without reading any instructions so I can provide better insight. It helps me notice things that I might not otherwise notice and can hopefully help you or any other.
Still apart from these minor issues, well done. I'm sure with this first ludum dare under your belt, any of your future ludum dare entries will be at least 10x better. Keep it up!
