pretty trippy but quite fun nonetheless - I loved the writing!
I liked the concept and the writing, the game could use some music. I loved the interaction with the clock! Really good writing.
Sadly I couldn't get the audio working on my end once I'd started the game (browser, firefox), but this was really interesting - I liked the take on the theme :D
"hOw dO yOu eVen KnoW wHat-?" cracked me up :P
The writing in this was a lot of fun! It kind of gave me Disco Elysium vibes with the humor and tone.
Game not working on opera. Doesn't load
If the game gets stuck on a black screen after choosing your name, wait a few seconds and click a few times, the game should progress.
Haven't played all endings, but it's a pretty fun visual novel like game. I enjoyed! Thank you for submitting this great game!
Very neat concept. Writing was good. Could've use some sound and music though
The graphic style and story-telling here are no doubt excellent. I will say that sometimes the dialogue sequences felt a bit tooooo long for my taste. If I accidentally clicked the same item again, I'd have a long bit of dialogue to make it through again (smashing the LMB). Aside that, great work on this project.
I guess I'm not the only one who is talking to the objects in his apartment... Visual novels are not really my thing but this one had a nice twist with all that talk, that was outside of my control. I just have one question: what is the "bronze vacation package"?
OMG, the moment when you begin to like toothbrush personality and it turns out to... that!
Cool game, I like the concept.
I like being art and the vibe of this game
teeeeeeeeeeeeeeext
I like fridges so nice game
I really liked the artwork and the dialoges in this one :3 But I won't be able to see electric toothbrushes the same way as before...
Super polished entry! To be honest i didn`t go through the whole content but what i saw and played so far was super well done :)
Hey, I think this game is pretty great! It was crashing and I had to reset a few times, but when I get through parts of it without error, I found there was some pretty interesting written content and some nicely drawn assets. It seems like you did what you set out to do, maybe just some more audio and bug fixing to start if you intend on continuing development. Well done :)
@CurdleGames Can you let us know when the crash happened and what browser and operating system you are using? If you are encountering some crashes after finishing one ending you can try run the game in a private browser, and it will run from the beginning. We're happy you enjoyed the game and thank you for the feedback.
Didn't expect to play a VN, ended up checking every ending. Neat concept, and interesting story
Really enjoyed this! The dialogue was incredibly amusing and I liked the story. Toothbrush stood out to me as a favourite.
Good to see another visual novel project. I got the Everything Is Resolved ending.
Hey! This is awesome! FWIW, I used Edge as a browser and the sound worked perfectly with no crashes or anything. Toaster was my first ending, although I definitely stuck around to find the others. I liked the little ads in the GUI and can see a feature like that being versatile enough to be used in a lot of other fun ways too.
I like the style so much. And the story is touching me
Enjoyed the humor in this one
I am playing and I really enjoy it, but it went out of hand after I got the first ending.
So I am on browser, Firefox to be precise. When I replayed again, I naturally went to smash the click button at the intro. The pictures get blocky and wavy, and I guessed it was normal when we speed up... however the pixel effect didn't stop and it still has blocs. It happened even when I refresh the page, so it is unreadable. bug1.PNG I review the ending I got with the button "Endings", and in this case it had no problem.
"Maybe it would be better if I download it." So I downloaded the Windows Zip, and just to be sure I put the file on VirusTotal, and this is what I got: bug2.PNG
I want to finish the game, so can this be fixed, or at least what can I do ?
@aaln Thank you for trying the game! In terms of the weird pixel effect, I've noticed this pixelation issue come and go - sometimes you need to wait for the graphics to load before proceeding or clicking. One suggestion if you want to try play in the browser is to run it in a private window, and it will forget that you've played before which could resolve some issues. Nonetheless, if you still see the pixelation it will not be there in the downloadable version. The game is not malicious or a trojan, most of the games you download from itch.io will trigger anti-virus complaints as it is an unfamiliar executable file. If you mark it as safe it should run okay, let us know if you have any further issues.
Very nice entry! :) The visuals and audio create a great mood! The dialogues may be too long in some cases (But I guess that is only true when viewed in a game jam voting phase where we all play games non stop :D)
Yay I could play on private windows, still a little bit buggy (there were notably not music anymore, which is a shame since it's really good).
(I don't know if it matter, but for other bugs: the background doesn't have the pixelated effect anymore, but the image when your click on a Xylene appliance is blocky. It doesn't happen when you view it from the ending page, and it didn't happen when I talked to the clock first. Also when you change location and you click to an object, the background can change back to that of the previous location. And sometimes there's these error messages which don't interrupt the game but are visually annoying.)
It's an interesting game with many things achieved from few images and musics, and many many dialogues. Aside from the bugs it's a well-rounded and polished-looking game. My criticsm would be that preferences are a little bit confusing (or it's just me who doesn't understand English and some VN expressions).
I like the point and click genre... but I almost never played these games, because they tend to be creepy. This game is not really an exception, with its sinister atmosphere, but at the same time it's so goofy - even at the spooky parts - I can play it. I was expecting (and fearing) a jumpscare at the General Ending, but it was surprisingly wholesome.
It's a simple game but it offers a lot of lore potential and questions. The game itself is satisfying, at least there's not real frustration at not getting all the answers (why the chip implant?). In spite of the explanation of the General Ending, I think it's still ambiguous: a simple dysfunction or really a dark conspiracy going on?
This game has very strong vibes. The writing is good, and quite creepy.
This is the first entry I've played that I can say with confidence is hilarious or at the very least amusing. I can't believe you made me look forward to what my appliances would say next!
Really inspiring game!! I love the art style and funky music which reminded me of early Zelda music? Interesting atmosphere, a mix between creepy and vibey!
Well, my intuition was correct, choosing "Cake" instead of "Peace Of Cake Games" for my name was a good idea. 😆
What a beautifully atmospheric game! Definitely going to have to go for more endings, I got the
!> Everything Is Resolved
or whatever it's called ending. The clock is definitely creepy, makes me glad we don't have smart appliances quite this smart yet.
!> The introduction of another human character was definitely a relief, here I was thinking I would be stuck arguing with my toothbrush about how it can seriously know what roadkill smells like for forever!
Really well polished. The art feels very nice. The story kept me imerged on it. I liked it very much.
Your artists are very talented! I liked this novel, thanks! Good luck to you all! p.s. unfortunately, audio was not working for some reason :(
It's quite puzzling, I would never think about something like this! Well done.
