LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep it Olive by Nicso 2020-04-22T14:58:38Z

Short but fun! As others already said, jumping is tricky and required you to press the button quickly. I also got stuck sometimes. The "onGround" flag is probably set by the bottom bun, if that one is dangling off the side of a levetating platform you can't walk or jump and need to reset.

Great Game that made me contemplate if there is a correct order for ingredients in a burger.

🍄 Saki 🍄 by Darkfire92 2020-04-21T15:01:24Z

Really enjoyed this! The game has great art and creates a feeling of tension. After some time i discovered, that my touchscreen allows me to cheat a little and traverse between two sides quicker than any mouse user could ever.

Starship Clicker by neuronezero 2020-04-23T22:40:29Z

Great game! Took me quite some time to find out what I was expected to to but once i figured out how to balance resources, bots and the crew it was very enjoyable. This would make for a great full game. Just add some optional modules, unlocks and throw in some events to supplement the core game loop (things you encounter in space) and it will be even more awesome. Also amazing job balancing the game! It must have been quite hard to get those values to behave properly. Definitely worth playing!

We're Lost, Boy by TheCommonThug 2020-04-21T15:55:15Z

Cool game. As a fan of the "stranded on a deserted island" genre i just had to play this. Reminded me a little of the Lost in Blue series where you also had to account for "how far you can go". Space button can be tricky and later in the game the space menu might not render so you'll not know if you'll accidentally quit the game. Overall a good game. Woof Woof! :)

Steven Saves The World! by shaner421 2020-04-21T20:25:17Z

Very nice game! But maybe overscoped for the jam? You have a good dungeon mechanic but all dead ends are just empty rooms. I had expected to at least find a chest with some coins in every dead end. This makes players explore the entire dungeon. The arrow was kind of not hitting targets 50% of the time and if it did hit I would always take damage, when it returns dragging an enemy into me. Haven't had the money to try the other weapons and the game crashed in the second town, but maybe if you'd have focused on just one weapon and fleshed out that weapons mechanics the game would play better? Sounds like a lot of critisism but i actually enjoyed this. :)

Oaks & Pines by Argon 2020-04-21T20:04:54Z

Wow! This game is truely innovative! You can feel like Tetris was a inspiring factor for this as it gives you different things in a order and forces you to place them strategically. Great gameplay, art, audio and atmosphere. If there was one thing I'd have to point out, then it's that a sort of "true challenge" and reward system for playing good is missing.

Ludum Defendare by Cievers 2020-04-21T16:08:03Z

Very cool clicker game! And a really creative way to the topic!! Some really easy improvements i'd like to suggest: replace mouse cursor with a "target" image (super easy in unity), reduce camera shake, spawn some particles and a splatter image that dissolves over time when bugs get squashed. :)

Keep It ALIVE! by iPheelLikeMakingGames 2020-04-23T22:58:47Z

Extremely fast paced and hard. I had this feeling of unfairness sometimes while playing. The enemies come in at a extremely fast rate and you have a quite big cooldown time between shots so even if you are able to react, aim and click on time your shots will not be fired due to the delay. Other than that it's nice. :)

Little Red Riding Hood And The Good Spirit Of The Woods by Nogam 2020-04-20T23:47:00Z

I'm impressed. Great art, sound and mechanics. Everything fits perfectly together. Solely the hit detection could be improved in my eyes.

Eggs With Legs by Teto 2020-04-21T13:31:53Z

Cool idea and mechanics. A few rough corners but a nice experience nevertheless. Somehow the collected eggs kept disappearing and I even had a count of -2/36 at one point. x)

Crazy Plant Lady by LaraLama 2020-04-21T16:28:53Z

Good Game with a happy aura! It's really hard to get started because you don't know the needs of each plant at first. I would have scratched the "learn about plant" feature and just given the player the info immediately. And damn those plants are sensible. You can't even tell how much water/fertilizer you'll add.

This game has a lot of potential though. If you'd just constantly display the plants requirements and add a range to those requirement-bars it would be a lot more accessible.

War of the Elements by Juan García Jousset 2020-04-20T23:21:30Z

Very cool! Really like the style and also the subtle details for example the face animation that changes when you shoot fire. A piece of art.

Save The Cake by memoryFloater 2020-04-21T15:31:03Z

Thank you soo much! I never thought anyone would get that far. x) All the balancing was made on a mathmatical whim, so it's great to see that you can actually progress to this extent. Some notes: * I have to admit, the "???" powerup is just a money sink that does nothing. xD Had to scratch a rather complex power here (that allowed you to place bombs) but didn't want to ruin the UI layout. * Yes you can strategically not target certain Sleems so they will carry the cake back. I figured it is a good "error" to keep in the game because it makes the player feel like he "found a trick to win easily". I guess you could say it's a mechanic the player has to learn to become good at the game. * Max Wave is 29 if you beat that I'll definitely be amazed. Couldn't do it myself. * A lot of additional enemies were scratched due to time and because I wanted to focus on delivering a robust game. Examples: * Summoner Sleem: Walks into view, then stops. Summons a bunch of smaller Sleems directly on the cake if not defeated in time. * Huge Sleem (Boss): Camera zooms out and you see a the Huge Boss coming in with a lot of health. * Pufferfish Sleem: Cant be hurt when he has his thorns out. * Orange Sleem: If a Red Sleem (the quick ones) touches a Yellow Sleem (the strong ones) by accident they merge into a Orange Sleem who is quick and strong. * Boost Sleem: Stops walking in certain intervals to cast a boosts on other Sleems (health or speed). * ...and a lot more

I might expand the game into an actual app if it's well recieved. :)

Save The Cake by memoryFloater 2020-04-22T10:09:38Z

Love you guys! Thanks for playing and the feedback! And WOW @andreas-roschal I'm impressed! That's pure dedication.

Save The Cake by memoryFloater 2020-04-23T21:08:01Z

Wow @neuronezero !! I was super impressed to see that! I did give you and your game a shout out on the feed to pay my respects. Thank you and everyone else for playing and enjoying the game. :)

City Defender by O Marchi 2020-04-23T23:05:27Z

Good game with nice feedback. I felt like it's impossible to loose, was this intended? Once only one "slice" of city is left to protect you can just stay on that and spam space.

LD49 — Unstable

Hexy Unstable by praleks 2021-10-09T21:08:26Z

Interesting concept, but there was no real advantage or disadvantage to the ground changing, or did I miss something? The art was nice, especially the ground transitions. Attacks could need more impact and effects, I safely killed all enemies by running from them while spamming attack. Some of my enemies also just disappeared and then some "shadows" started flying around outside the map. Overall pretty good.

Uns-table pumpkins by frederikja163 2021-10-09T20:52:19Z

No, I can not beat your score. Why is this so hard? This game needs tilt controls. Solid math btw., considering you did this without a physics engine.

Tilted Chicken Game by RAC-Games 2021-10-06T18:04:44Z

Really liked this game. The visuals in the intro were amazing. The fixed camera angle makes things a little hard to tell sometimes. Balancing more than 4 eggs is impossible without a controller (especially considering your speed loss) and on top of that you can not use any shortcuts making things ridiculously hard. Overall: Nice! :chicken: :hatching_chick:

Orthoptera by cottontshirtz 2021-10-06T18:24:03Z

Amazing game. Great artstyle and the sounds and music fit perfectly. Once you learn the controls its really fun to play and fly around. The magic is in the movement polish with this one. I kept flying until the terrain colliders suddenly ended. Great game.

★KICK GUM★ by vlandemart 2021-10-18T19:59:22Z

Nice game! The mechanics are solid but its too easy once you figure out the AI. I just stood infront of the reactor and let them collect and throw the green boxes at me. Could probably have stood there all day. 2ez.jpg

Bright Burning Beelzebob by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2021-10-09T19:15:02Z

Fun puzzle platformer with a very intuitive tutorial for its mechanics. A little too easy for my taste because the solution was pretty obvious for all levels. A few traps or moving obstacles could improve this a lot. I loved the art and story segments. Very nice.

Monday by gimbalock 2021-10-09T21:39:04Z

Loved it! The click tasks where intuitive to understand immediately but still made me freak out and fail sometimes. And that moment where I realized that I have to do simple math while clicking the other buttons was funny as hell.

Shork Incorporated by CrispyPin 2021-10-06T20:13:29Z

Nice game. A lot of physics going on in the background but the environment is barely a obstacle so it felt kind of unnecessary. I liked the style though, the funny explosions and the chaos with everything flying around... looks like a pretty realistic warehouse to me. And yes, gets super laggy in the html version. I think the lag creates an advantage for the player because physics slow down too.

Elemental by RyanJavanshir 2021-10-06T21:23:07Z

Nice game. You forgot to mention: HOLD SHIFT to walk faster. Pretty interesting concept but the idea of being fully powerless until you get another randomly chosen element was really discouraging. Some more explainations about how the game mechanics work would be nice. Also there is a bug where the goal counter becomes negative if you keep clicking on the topmost option.

Pigs by HowlingShame 2021-10-09T21:50:13Z

Great game. Really well executed. The art style, music and sound effects are all great. Its a little hard to predict how the pigs work precisely. I could not figure out a way to rotate them in the most effective way. The mouse positioning was a little hard for me due to the missing depth perception. You can easily fix this by adding a blob-shadow below the pigs so that you can see where they will land when you drop them. Loved it.

ch1Pik by NinjaCatz 2021-10-09T18:51:45Z

Great puzzler. The music was very chill and the art consistent. Some blocks could have been made a little different in color to make them more obvious. Mechanically great, the revert steps button was a nice touch and saved me from reseting some levels. Loved it.

The Walls Are Tumbling Down! by zubspace 2021-10-05T16:36:13Z

Cool concept! Just give Pacman a gun. :gun:  Too hard for me though. It felt like 10 minutes to beat the first level before I could see that there is more to come with upgrades and enemies that also destroy walls. Would be a lot better if you would restart from the level, that you failed at.

MELTDOWN PIZZERIA by Magnanix 2021-10-05T18:31:52Z

Great game! Colliders were a little off here and there but I just needed to learn how the game reacts. I'm really amazed to see that you managed to make this in 3 days while switching engines. This is actually quite encouraging, I should give Godot a try as well.

To Heaven and Back by Barji 2021-10-05T17:36:53Z

Very nice. Far too hard and fast for my taste but the great visual style and music kept me around. I'd really like to watch someone speedrun this.

F%$#IN BIRDS! by Substain 2021-10-05T18:00:34Z

OOOOoOOOoooooohhh!! AAAAAhhh!!! ..... Oh! Oh! Oh! Ooooohooooo! :microphone:  I'm dying.

Emily vs the Unstable Creatures by JPatchZ 2021-10-06T21:58:04Z

Good game. The art style really shines. Would do great as a mobile title what it clearly was intended for. What I don't understand is why this is 240mb in size. Hopefully the mobile builds are smaller.

Turnip Boi and the Forest Lost in Time by Codeman1010 2021-10-06T19:25:06Z

Wow! That remix of the music in that one sub-area is crazy good. Great game, nice atmosphere. I really had to get used to the extremely fast falling speed. Felt a little lost about where to go exactly but I guess you just win by waiting after collecting a few crystals. I still searched the entire map but only found smileys made out of crystals.

Don't overturn the world by Feyola 2021-10-06T19:00:14Z

Very fun. Creative and challenging! Really enjoyed playing and tried multiple times but never managed to win. Can't even imagine how hard it must have been to balance the physics properly for this to work in such a predictable and intuitive way! Amazing.

Rolling Home by memoryFloater 2021-10-12T16:00:15Z

A big thanks to all of you for playing my game. I'm sorry for the lack of a proper ending. Fact is I did the entire level-design with progression balancing and sounds in the last hour. Its interesting to see how some people say its too hard while others say its too easy, this confirms my testing where the game gets harder the faster you try to play it.

Originally I had the idea of letting the Sleems build actual structures to fight off enemies that are coming from the right while they run from the lava on the left. This would have created a constant "struggle/unstableness" where your built structures get burned by lava while having to rebuild and fight off more enemies at the same time. I may expand this into a full game if I get the time.

The dangers of alchemy by Rokuyomi 2021-10-09T20:14:33Z

Great concept but there are a lot of things that need to be refined. Aiming with your skills is extremely hard because character rotation is not instant and you cannot walk backwards. The colliders for picking up items are too small making it unncessarily hard. Its impossible to mess up potions but even if you do, you don't know which potion will have the negative effect (since you only have a number). If you fix those issues and add some store expansion and progression it could be a great game.

Also... i destroyed monster village to prove a point. rip_monster_village.jpg

Unstable Stable by BrielleY 2021-10-05T18:12:30Z

That plot twist when the stable finally became stable and it turns out its just a painting and the real un-stable is your state of mind. 10/10 genious.

Float by Cakestorm 2021-10-06T18:47:54Z

Great game! Everything fits perfectly together. Art, music, sound effects, feedback when shooting, almost feels like a full game that just needs a few more levels with different biomes. I also liked how the level design was made in a way where you could avoid shooting most of the stalactites if you jumped properly. Loved playing this. :seedling:

Epic Survival Game (Unstable Build) by Krzyhau 2021-10-09T19:40:12Z

Nice little game. I liked the "unstable" part of it but it really got annoying in an interesting way. Especially the random teleportation got me scared and is it just me or does the frequency of instability increase the more you progress in the game? Aside from that the game lacks some goals or maybe at least some more things to craft. Nice art and animations btw, good style.

How high How many by ache games 2021-10-05T15:47:45Z

Great game. The two things that make it somewhat unintuitive though: You can not place objects precisely (you only see a dot for where it will be placed). And the objects you pick up stay at the rotation that they were picked at making it really hard to control.

Home Tripper by Lemonthunder 2021-10-05T16:09:06Z

I guess I'm not the only one who is talking to the objects in his apartment... Visual novels are not really my thing but this one had a nice twist with all that talk, that was outside of my control. I just have one question: what is the "bronze vacation package"?

Tomatoes Delivery by Muse_X 2021-10-09T20:33:42Z

Nice physics game. The missing undo button made it pretty hard so even with only 3 levels it took quite some time to beat. Nice art, fitting music, I have just one question: Why tomatoes? :tomato:

Prefabricated Highrise by belickim 2021-10-05T16:50:46Z

Visuals look really nice and have almost too much detail for this game. Reminded me of Tricky Towers. Controls are wanky because the pieces have too much bounce. I would have made it so the UP-arrow activates the thrusters on the currently falling piece, to slow down the fall and give the players some way to "cheat" a little. :house: :smirk:

Pasta Run by AARC_Noa 2021-10-05T17:14:46Z

This game needs more levels. I played and beat level 2 five times hoping there was more to come.

Where's My Tripod? by Pixelydian 2021-10-06T19:55:40Z

Forget the tripod, this guy needs a blanket. Loved the art and audio! Small and short but very polished, great game. :deer: :camera:

Fractured by Baldurs 2021-10-09T21:30:02Z

Fun game that is very fast paced and hard. The floaty and instant movement reminds me of older games. The camera is also too zoomed in for you to see where you need to go, so the first attempt of progression will almost always kill you because you lack information. The time-warping barely did anything for me and when it kicked in I almost always died instantly which removed the effect. Pretty good and entertaining.
