Great one ! Love the cute graphics and the musics are cool. The map is well thought and except some glitches sometimes this is a nice game. The attack of the character is fun to use.

Awesome idea, the concept of grabbing enemies and dealing damage to them by hitting them into stuff is really cool and it was a lot of fun when it worked.

That said it was kinda janky and didnt work a lot of the times which really killed the mood for me I think it has probably something to do with the hit detection but a lot of the times when it felt like my hooks should hit, I had the mouse literally on top of the enemy, it would go behind them.

The audio also is only set to one audio channel so it was kinda distracting to only have sound in one side of my head.

That said, great work delivering this ! The concept is super fun and has a ton of space to grow! If you keep working on it I for one am super excited to see how it turns out.

@captaindaws Thanks for the response! Yeah a large part of the jank was due to the time constraint and the audio issues have to do with the HTML version. Apologies about that! Downloadable versions are going up now for windows and macOS/Linux.

@brenan Thank you! :)

The animation and art are lovely! The glitches held it oFf a bit but it didn't stop the nice mechanic that you have. I think this could be a great Cellphone game. One thing that bothered me was that i couldn't kill a bunch of enemies using thems elves and i think it could be a great addition.

shaner421 2020-04-21 19:18

@zebraatomica Thank you very much for the feedback! Yes it was originally planned to be able to yeet people around and stuff but it unfortunately had to be cut because it was too wonky with our current system. :(

Really enjoy the gameplay! A few things - it's kind of hard to tell where to aim to hit the big enemies, and it's slightly irritating when you enter a room and are immediately attacked without any chance to prevent it.

shaner421 2020-04-21 20:17

@raeya Thanks! Yeah those two things were buggy for us too but we had to push back fixing it because the dungeon suddenly didn't work an hour before the deadline and we basically worked till the end to get the game in general to work haha.

memoryfloater 2020-04-21 20:25

Very nice game! But maybe overscoped for the jam? You have a good dungeon mechanic but all dead ends are just empty rooms. I had expected to at least find a chest with some coins in every dead end. This makes players explore the entire dungeon. The arrow was kind of not hitting targets 50% of the time and if it did hit I would always take damage, when it returns dragging an enemy into me. Haven't had the money to try the other weapons and the game crashed in the second town, but maybe if you'd have focused on just one weapon and fleshed out that weapons mechanics the game would play better? Sounds like a lot of critisism but i actually enjoyed this. :)

shaner421 2020-04-21 20:26

@memoryfloater I think overscoping was a large part of the issues. We put too much time into a half-working dungeon system and had plans for chests in empty rooms but unfortunately ran out of time to implement the feature. Thanks for the feedback!

theaxe316 2020-04-21 20:27

Cool game! I really liked how satisfying it felt when the arrow got stuck in the wall! The particles and screen shake when it hit added to the impact.

Something annoying that did happen during my playthrough was that I got hit by enemies surrounding the door immediately upon spawning in. Also the enemy movement felt a bit glitchy at times.

I also feel like the art was a bit inconsistent (I don't mean bad). Like some things were pixel art while others were higher res.

Overall, impressive entry! The main attack feels interesting and satisfying to use. If you decide to continue development, I believe you will end up with a very fun system that lets you yeet around enemies as you said lol

Great concept! Love the attack mechanic and thought it was pretty smart. The procedural rooms was also a bonus.

That being said, I did experience quite a few bugs straight off the bat. I went to speak to the blacksmith, and the wizard's profile appeared and started asking about spells. Then the blacksmith would appear but when I hit bye the wizard would say bye, etc. The inverse happened as well.

As I said, the attack mechanic is pretty fun, but slightly janky. It would at times go straight through the enemies and not register a hit. Also dragging the arrow back always hurt me because the enemy came straight back with it... Not sure if intended? I also got hurt everytime I entered a room because I would be instantiated straight on top of an enemy.

I feel like maybe it was overscoped very slightly, but nonetheless I had a blast playing it. Well done :)

shaner421 2020-04-21 20:30

@theaxe316 Thanks! Yeah the enemies rushing you at the start was something we fixed but it broke after we submitted it and I feel like fixing that big of a bug would defeat the point of the jam :( Thank you for your feedback!

shaner421 2020-04-21 20:33

@conor-galvin Thanks for letting me know about that UI bug, I haven't experienced that before. Weird! I appreciate the feedback. :)

inventivum-games 2020-04-24 23:29

great game, the only problem I really had was you had to hit the enemies feet and if you click there the arrow goes toward their head making difficult to battle on the horizontal axis

suchista 2020-04-26 18:20

The scope of this game is great, and it was pretty fun. I really liked the camera movement and the little cave map in the corner. At first I didn't know how to get out of the village, haha. The hook was quite buggy - it sometimes didn't hit the enemies when it should, and sometimes it wasn't cleared from the board, so I had to play with like three hooks on the screen, which was confusing. Interaction with villagers was buggy too - sometimes I didn't have to stay near them to trigger talking with both of them (even at the same time). The web version didn't work for me, I got the error: "Cannot read property 'getParameter' of undefined". I appreciate lots of work put into this game, it has a lot of things going! Good job! Oh, and the art was great!

eran-haas 2020-04-28 11:59

I had some trouble with the web version, when I left the first screen the music changed but I just got a black screen. Took a few reloads to get it working.

The harpoon mechanic is great, and could be a lot of fun with some polish.

Impressive to get that much procedural content working!
