LD46 — Keep it alive

Feed Meh by MrTroy 2020-04-21T04:18:58Z

Nice graphics and premise. I like how it's dangerous to feed the plant, it makes it an interesting challenge. I agree with others that alt didn't work that well. Good overall.

In The Flesh by LandoSystems 2020-04-21T04:05:41Z

Very cool and fun game! I really liked the intro sequence where you are introduced to the zombie suit. My favorite part might be how the small enemies go flying when you punch them lol. Music and sounds were nice, especially the music transition upon entering the suit.

Wayward by KingMatthew 2020-04-21T21:32:51Z

This honestly may be the most fun game I have seen this jam! The way that you have both a ranged and melee attack on one button was very clever. It was very satisfying to throw the scythe and then run and let it wreck enemies on its way back. Also, the different enemies felt dangerous and it changed up the gameplay when they appeared.

I will say though that the hand and portal enemies felt unresponsive when damaging them compared to the other one. If I didn't read it in the instructions, I wouldn't have known you can hurt them.

Really cool overall!

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-21T19:53:30Z

The voice overs were a great touch! It felt really satisfying to click on the souls because of the squishing animations and sound effects

FL0W3R by oda 2020-04-21T20:51:42Z

Very peaceful game. I liked the subtle indicators of too much/little water you used. I really liked the pixel art and animation of the flower growing. One thing I will say though is that it took me a little to realize that I was killing the plant with too much water (also the useful tip you included is not on the itch page).

Overall it was a nice game. I feel like you could continue with this mechanic if you added more types of plants where the player is surprised by how it turns out, and it also might be cool if you could grow multiple plants at once. Like you said this was fun to keep on the side while I watched a video.

Super Despair Shooter by WTMK_BK 2020-04-21T04:09:36Z

Cool game. It was really satisfying to just keep clicking

Steven Saves The World! by shaner421 2020-04-21T20:27:33Z

Cool game! I really liked how satisfying it felt when the arrow got stuck in the wall! The particles and screen shake when it hit added to the impact.

Something annoying that did happen during my playthrough was that I got hit by enemies surrounding the door immediately upon spawning in. Also the enemy movement felt a bit glitchy at times.

I also feel like the art was a bit inconsistent (I don't mean bad). Like some things were pixel art while others were higher res.

Overall, impressive entry! The main attack feels interesting and satisfying to use. If you decide to continue development, I believe you will end up with a very fun system that lets you yeet around enemies as you said lol

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Untitled cat unboxing by piegames 2020-10-06T23:34:51Z

Great job! Very charming style. I was verrryy confused at first as to what was happening (even the instructions on the itch page say it is indescribable), but after I got the hang of the swap mechanics I started having a blast. It really is a cool system for solving puzzles. Would love to see this expanded into a larger game -- I'm sure there are many ways you could explore tying the time loop system to level mechanics, like with the pressure plates.

Ekko by PierreNS 2020-10-06T23:53:36Z

Sick game! Loved the art style and mechanic. I thought you explored the mechanic very well. I was anticipating the final level being boring since it seemed like it was going to be tedious, but I ended up enjoying it the most. It felt like a race against time, trying to get all my clones in place before time ran out. That being said, it would have been nice to have a "kill" button to let me instantly skip to the next clone so I didn't have to wait on the button for a few seconds.

I also agree with Julius's comment above, this mechanic deserves more exploration! I'm certain there are more ways to interact with the level besides standing on buttons, and I'd love to see what you guys come up with if you continue development. Great job overall.

The Mortal Coil by MarkoPoloDev 2020-10-06T13:12:50Z

Nice game. I got up to the final boss but did not beat it. Overall the progression of upgrades carried the game, and I felt a real urge to keep collecting loopholes by hunting down enemies because I knew I would be using them to buy upgrades.

What would have made the game even more engaging to me is if the enemies posed more of a challenge. The most difficult enemies seemed to only lock up my movement for a second, which asks the question of why I am working so hard to grab all the upgrades if the enemies don't really threaten me (besides giving me more time to hunt them).

The music really added a lot to the game, but more sound effects would have made the experience more rich. The artstyle was charming as well. Overall great job :)

Beyond Death by Trypants 2020-10-06T23:19:21Z

Wow great job! I liked how the colors changed on death, and the art and animations were awesome. The forced perspective did make some traps a bit sneaky though. I thought it was really clever how the player's death can serve to both allow you to progress, and also stop you from dying to the same spike trap again even if it is not on the critical path.

Outstanding work!

Dash Or DIE! by Ethan Losten 2020-10-06T18:26:53Z

I really like the pixel art animations and the shadow effect. Since you said you want to keep working on the game, some tips I would give are to add sound effects so that the combat feels more engaging, and use your pixel art skills to flesh out the world more. I would also polish the movement since for some reason the character feels a bit weightless. Otherwise it was a fun game and I hope you keep working on it.

Threaded Loop by Guillem Serra 2020-10-06T18:49:09Z

Sweet game! I really liked the artstyle and feeling of the game. The mechanics were a bit tricky to understand, I found myself trying to brute force past some of the levels. I definitely think you could expand this into a bigger game!

Hot's Dogs by Tyler Law 2020-10-06T18:05:07Z

Very cute and nice world. It was fun to explore and give hotdog to the cyclops and sea monster. Physics were a little glitchy but I still wanted to complete the game.

For { } by SoupStoreGames 2020-10-07T00:06:07Z

Wow, this might be my favorite game of the jam so far! The functionality of each block became really clear as time went on. I was able to predict how the loop would run and what I should edit and in what order. The error messages were sick, the low res pixel art was sick. Sorry, I can't think of anything to criticize so you can improve the game haha

Hangin' Around by Nocity 2020-10-06T13:38:13Z

Very nice game. When I first played it, my I accidentally muted my sound, so I thought the there was no sound in the game and left 1 star for audio. Then I realized my sound was muted and replayed the game, and the sound of the light alone was enough to boost my rating way up. I really enjoyed all the mini games, especially the energetic music that plays. Overall great job.

The Loop of Death by TheMosterts 2020-10-06T18:31:15Z

Nice game. I think you should make some kind of effect when you hit enemies so the player knows they are dealing damage. It was fun to explore and try out some of the different weapons.

Demon Watch by Hicko 2020-10-06T18:14:09Z

Cute game! I liked the different options and that you can get multiple endings (I got the second one). Some sound effects could have made the options feel more engaging, and the option to quickly finish reading text would have made it faster to play. Overall great job on the game, especially the mood.

Link the Fire by MeowMeowLitClub 2020-10-06T12:50:14Z

Interesting game. I really loved the art style and it made me want to explore and learn more about the cryptic world these guys live in. I enjoyed the small touches like how they blow bubbles when they are not working.

One criticism I have is that I don't think you should allow the player to run into the black void at the edges of the screen unless you can find something there. The other boy with a torch kept running into the darkness so I did the same, but I never discovered anything. Maybe add a sound effect when you tell someone to go back to work to make it more obvious. Also on the web version on itch.io I believe the frame was cropped (your screenshot showed more of the world).

Overall I really liked the mood and feeling of the world. The art, music, and cryptic statues made me want to know more about the world.

Link the Fire by MeowMeowLitClub 2020-10-07T15:01:35Z

@meowmeowlitclub Dear MeowMeowLitClub, thank you for the kind words! I'm glad to see you enjoyed my game as well. I played the new version of your game, and I can see you listened to a lot of suggestions already! My favorite part was that I could put the game in fullscreen and see the beautiful pixel art world! It was a much more streamlined experience, great job.

Swing to safety by Noirox 2020-10-06T18:40:28Z

Cute game, but it was really difficult to control the path you take through the air. The concept was pretty unique and there is a lot of potential for the mechanic you have. I think focusing on reducing the difficulty will help improve the game. A good tip is to ask someone who is really bad at video games to playtest your game, and see how they react. Even if you want your game to be difficult, most players should be able to get through a few levels. Overall nice job, you should keep working on it!

Swing to safety by Noirox 2020-10-06T18:52:23Z

@tigerchris2000 I got past the first 3 levels, so the last one I completed was the one that introduced multiple blue blocks. On the 4th level, I gave up since I had died so many times.

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-07T13:35:28Z

Very nice entry! Really cool premise. It was difficult but fun. I especially loved the mood of the cursed temple.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Endoparasitic by miziziziz 2021-05-01T14:13:16Z

Really great game! The sort of 'manual-ness' of the inventory system really added to the scariness and stress of the game. I loved that last level where you had to reload and shoot as fast as possible to survive. In any other game it would be as simple as pressing R and left clicking until they're dead, but it felt very different in this game. Goes to show that you don't need crazy scary monsters to make a good horror, but making the player feel like they are struggling can contribute to the feeling of horror. The parasite was extremely creepy when I first saw it too!

One thing that I think could have improved this game was limiting how fast you could crawl. I was able to zip right past the enemies because I could move as fast as I moved my mouse. Maybe a limit would contribute to the feeling the other mechanics create.

Incredible job overall!

Tetra Rogue by Ryan Harriman 2021-04-29T01:35:12Z

Cool game. It was difficult to understand at first but I like the inclusion of the how to screen. It was quite challenging though, but I like the idea of venturing deeper and getting the chance to upgrade your stats! Nice job

Deep Space by Cole Hutson 2021-04-27T02:05:41Z

Cute game. It reminded me of old flash games that had a similar gameplay loop, I used to play those a lot :) good work

1000 Fathoms by Dom De Re 2021-04-29T01:51:46Z

Great job! I played by myself but used the other player to stand on the opposite side in case something came up over there :) Enjoyable game overall

A Disguised Far Muse by intrepidhero 2021-04-29T01:42:08Z

Took a little time to get used to it, but it was a nice game. I like the keyboard controls, but I think you should have included (y/n) for every time you should answer in that way. I really enjoyed the simulation aspect of building more and more structures to help you. Nice job overall.

LD54 — Limited Space

Risto goes around the world by Katajisto 2023-10-02T23:06:05Z

Took a little while to get the hang of it, but once I did it was a blast!
