Nice game. The cute pixel art and nice mechanics sold this game for me. One problem I faced is a lack of information for what to do. I did not know you could make clones of yourself until I read the control scheme. And many functions in one key made it hard for me to know what is what. But besides that the cute robot, the lil cat in the box and the cool puzzles made the game a good experience.

Tough puzzles! Visuals are great; pixel art is razor-sharp, and I really enjoy how your recorded self's next move is forecasted on its screen. I think snappier movement and sound effects for EVERYTHING would liven this up considerably. It's a really good time as-is, though--definitely one of the most inventive interpretations of the theme I've seen. (Truly, words cannot describe that mechanic.)

@pune007 @bgsulz Thanks for the feedback! There are not many functions in one key, it's just that it can be described in many different ways. That's the downside of having a mechanic one cannot put into words … (I really tried, so if you got a better description please tell!)

The movement indeed is a bit sluggy (and glitchy if you try to move fast nevertheless), but we didn't have time to make this right. Same for the sound, we had to a lot of cut corners there.

Originally, we had even more "loops" and looping mechanics in the game, but they eventually got cut out because they had some game design issues and gameplay > theme.

Love the game really cute graphics and sound design and a really well designed main mechanic.

Pretty nice game and visuals, but there was a visual glitch for me when I was going upwards. Other than that, no complains!

mycosil 2020-10-06 23:20

Cool game with this kind of clone loop, with a smooth movement will be a 10!

aran-ink 2020-10-06 23:21

Always happy to see a cute cat in a box!

I think more discrete (grid-based) movement and a "step" counter would help a lot in helping to communicate that you're trying to time up your movements from previous steps. It also seems like up/down movement is significantly slower than left/right, which felt a little weird. :)

Ooo, interesting idea here! Took a bit of trial and error to figure out how to use the space bar ability, but once I figured it out the puzzles were unique and fun to work through!

All moves very slow, and having to move back and forth in some cases to move your previous selves around felt a little bit punishing.

Overall a great entry, keep it up!

maxmitchell 2020-10-06 23:28

Fantastic job! This is a really creative idea for a puzzle game! I just wish there was more of a tutorial, because it took me awhile to understand how it all worked. Great game!

lenophie 2020-10-06 23:29

Cute, simple and fun! However, it does feel kinda slow, particularly when you have the solution figured and just need to execute it, it'd be perfect to just be able to skip the movement animation when doing another move!

forgeronstudio 2020-10-06 23:31

Fun game! I like how you had to get the previous bot to do things that were impossible at the time when you originally did the movements. It's a fun twist on the classic ghost mechanic.

Bonus points for the cat :)

theaxe316 2020-10-06 23:34

Great job! Very charming style. I was verrryy confused at first as to what was happening (even the instructions on the itch page say it is indescribable), but after I got the hang of the swap mechanics I started having a blast. It really is a cool system for solving puzzles. Would love to see this expanded into a larger game -- I'm sure there are many ways you could explore tying the time loop system to level mechanics, like with the pressure plates.

necauqua 2020-10-07 00:58

The art was very cute, I liked it a lot, and, of course, THE CAT :)

And as I always do, tip of the hat for you for making a web version of the game,

piegames 2020-10-07 17:29

@aran-ink The counter is definitively a good idea. If this was a full game, maybe some path indications on the ground would be nice to have as well. The animation always has the same length. But because tiles are wider than tall due to perspective the movement appears slower in one direction.

@maxmitchell The idea was to make the first levels tutorial-esque enough to learn the game (like in Portal). But it sadly didn't fully work out. I'm happy that most players still get the mechanics sooner or later and that no one has reported a rage quit

@forgeronstudio That level is my favourite too! I really wanted to build another level with the same idea but in bigger. Sadly there was not enough time (I tried but in the end it was solvable with less clones).

@theaxe316 We don't plan on expanding this post game jam at the moment. But the game mechanic isn't patented, so feel free to build your own game on this idea.

discoreunion 2020-10-08 21:39

I like the art, it's a cool little game even if I was a little confuse at first about the clones. Nevertheless, I always appreciate game with black cat :)

conneli 2020-10-08 22:43

If it has a cat in it, it's an automatic plus. Really great graphical design and a nice take on the theme!

pee-thief 2020-10-09 04:58

I love that cat!

mithoskuu 2020-10-09 07:08

Its pretty tough, I think a tutorial that guides you through how the space bar works would be a huge benefit. The art is great and the actual mechanics are well executed
