LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Another One Loops the Dust by limered 2020-10-05T23:07:55Z

Music choice was great! Loved the visuals as well!

Debugger by wdebowicz 2020-10-06T20:28:34Z

Frustrating but fun! It's an excellent idea for a game. The platforming is tight but stressful. Overall, had a good time.

Appease The Gods by japes 2020-10-07T20:56:52Z

Left God was consistently pleased with me. Right God and I never really saw eye to eye. I appreciate the cryptic vibes from the project, it's really cool. I think there definitely needs to be some level of feedback distributed. If you do a task a certain number of times, good or bad, it unlocks and tells you if a God likes or dislikes the action. Just food for thought.

Untitled cat unboxing by piegames 2020-10-08T22:43:07Z

If it has a cat in it, it's an automatic plus. Really great graphical design and a nice take on the theme!

Stuck in a while(true) by Neowedge 2020-10-07T20:49:20Z

Simple, fun, detailed, thank you for your tips because I got much, much farther with them. Enjoyed this a lot!

The Infinite Ark by SaraJS 2020-10-09T01:13:03Z

Wow!! This is the type of game I could play time and time again. It's a great take on Oregon trail and the random event text absolutely oozes with sci-fi excellence. My one comment is I'd love the ability to take myself out of the ship and replace the spot with some food or something to get a much deserved game over. Really well done entry though, loved every second.

Color Coded by Random-storykeeper 2020-10-07T16:33:46Z

Very enjoyable project! I got through a few levels before dying and once I figured everything out I was cruising! The music and art were great, there was something really cool and funky about the style. I think a smaller tutorial level could potentially help showcase your features more before throwing the players into the main fray. Red is also veeeery OP and could probably either do less damage or have less range. Obviously some enemies won't really care but the spawners certainly do! Overall though it's a great take on the theme and I loved playing it!

Loopy Mansion by Sarah 2020-10-07T04:27:41Z

Please let me know when this is up!

Loopy Mansion by Sarah 2020-10-08T04:34:49Z

loopy.png One more issue, the game right now looks extremely dark. I can tell by the screenshots it's not supposed to be like this. I'm wishing you the best and I still want to try it, but right now I'm not sure it's feasible.

Loopy Mansion by Sarah 2020-10-08T16:12:49Z

Okay! Great! After stumbling around in the dark like an idiot (apologies), I escaped the loop. Honestly? Worth the wait. The semi-turn based but also reflex based battle system worked effectively and kept me on my toes. It's a really great take on turn based combat. And of course the art which drew me in in the first place did not disappoint. It's stylish and very adorable.

Loop Heart by NeithR 2020-10-06T04:48:18Z

Played it to completion, loved every second of it. Cute, addicting, simple but rewarding. Thanks for putting out such a high quality submission!

Tako Nom Nom by brittbrady 2020-10-10T00:50:42Z

Great fun. Judging by the resolution I'm guessing this is mobile bound, and honestly it should be. Extremely polished, I didn't notice any bugs, and it just looks and plays great. I wish holding down the button for longer gave a boost when you let go, it would be nice to catapult in one direction as an alternative to rapidly pressing to go. Other than that though, you have a great project on your hands and I look forward to hopefully seeing it on an appstore sometime.

Zog's Hopeless Abyss by ramza 2020-10-06T23:24:20Z

That was a blast! The platforming trials were frustrating but not unfair. Zog was a treat.

River Express by ProdigalSon 2020-10-07T04:59:49Z

Can confirm, restart is a great feature and my partner and I used it extensively when we played. Great game, got through all seven levels and each one was very satisfying to complete. The most difficult part was figuring out how to loop the path in on itself in level three. Great time killer, would play more for sure!

Bloop by notpresident35 2020-10-06T05:43:47Z

Beautiful! Can't stress that enough! A bit difficult to control properly, but maybe I'm just bad. But I kept playing just to see the shapes, colors, lights. All of it combined into something magical. It's a work of art frankly!

Looping Madness by Croped 2020-10-05T22:57:34Z

Loved this! The music, the smoke & explosion effects were excellent. Highlight was somehow making it through the wall of birds. Well done!

Schrodinger and the Quantic Forest by Elrric 2020-10-06T20:44:47Z

The visuals reminded me a lot of GBA games, an excellent stylistic choice. I may have gotten stuck early on, couldn't find a platform after taking the box back from the green portal? But I commend your visuals and idea. Very cool.

Loop Line by sprvrn 2020-10-06T16:44:34Z

I really enjoyed this little time killer! Maybe I'm just not bright, but it took me too long to figure out how big the map was! I think more indication that you can scroll around a huge world might be good! Other than that, really well done.

Loop the Poop by Merrow 2020-10-06T18:26:50Z

Very funny, nicely created puzzle mechanics. I think clicking on the valves to have them rotate 90 degrees automatically (or to their next available spot) might be nice instead of relying on WASD as a secondary action. I enjoyed it a lot though, nicely done!

Hall of Repeat by Monkosum 2020-10-10T00:46:41Z

This is one of my favorite genres and you handled it excellently. I loved the styles, the setting, the random generation, all excellently done. During one run I did bump into the exit only one room over, but normally in these types of games I'd do the whole floor anyway for the bonuses so that wasn't really an issue. Great entry, congratulations on showing off some incredible talent in only three days!!

Mel's Bells by Pizzasgood 2020-10-08T16:54:43Z

My musical senses are terrible so the inverting was veeeery difficult. But the style is great and I love the literal looping you do with it. One potential note is to just introduce the sounds before you start using them so the player has an idea of which one is which. It probably wouldn't help someone with my lack of musical skills but it would help others.

The Vendor by Shambles 2020-10-06T18:57:24Z

Love the concept. The art is gorgeous, the dialogue is humorous as well as informative, it does it's job nicely. It could've been nice to get a bit more feedback from the characters each round, as one at a time made the deduction process very slow. Things that I thought were right that I had been choosing all along ended up just being last on the list. I'm also just bad at deducing. Overall, an excellent submission that I very much enjoyed.

Hyperspace Slingshot by AllBetsAreOff 2020-10-06T00:50:46Z

Great concept, simple but fun. I thought I'd be able to spend most of the game just playing backwards but it ended up being much trickier than I expected!

One Hit Wonder by Azemut 2020-10-08T16:50:12Z

So fun!! Very catchy tunes, I'm going to go back and try to get Battlehorn because that's amazing. But the visuals, music, and tower defense style game all make for an incredible entry. Great take on the theme, and honestly just congratulations on a job well done.

Red Overdose by Sigrid 2020-10-06T20:38:40Z

Very interesting choice in controls. I don't think I've ever seen Z&Q incorporated into movement along with S&D. Honestly it created a challenge to overcome muscle memory while solving the rooms. Which isn't a bad thing, mind you. Out of curiosity, why those buttons?

LoopBerries by sekol 2020-10-05T23:50:43Z

I'll admit, "You got killed by your zombie looper clone" was not an expression I expected to hear today. Loved the mechanics, maybe I'm just bad but easy mode was a lot more enjoyable to explore with. Well done!

Eat your cereals by Harksa 2020-10-06T19:20:52Z

Accidentally tossed the skull. Game told me I ate all my cereal. Probably better off in the long run for just getting rid of it. Hilarious entry. Nicely done.

Turbo Hamster by Nisanick 2020-10-08T04:51:00Z

Having leaderboards is an incredible add to this very fun, very simple game. It knows what it wants to do and it does it. I achieved an "incredible" 73rd place, but now I'm shooting for the top.

Spooky Mansion by philipprapp95 2020-10-06T18:47:24Z

Would you tag me when this goes live? I would love to play it! Looking forward to it!

Spooky Mansion by philipprapp95 2020-10-06T23:40:37Z

Really glad I got to try this. Conceptually, I loved it. The ghost, the spooky house, the air of mystery and exploration, all well done. I had some trouble with the buttons however. I clicked first person and was definitely not in first person for my playthrough, and the Press E for Up button was stuck on the GUI after an elevator ride. But I don't think I can praise the aesthetics enough, well done.

Infinite Loop by bordonne 2020-10-06T19:53:23Z

Great little project. Love the take on programming, and the take on the theme.

Dungeon Loop by radgegames 2020-10-06T05:51:35Z

Hey there! This game looked right up my alley, I love games like this. The aesthetic is wonderful and with some love and polish it could be a full fledged title one day! I did struggle with the controls a bit, most twin sticks I've played use WASD for movement and arrows for shooting, so that took some adjusting. I also found sometimes I could walk and shoot but other times it seemed I couldn't?

But overall, visuals, styles, genre, music, all excellent. I enjoyed playing this a lot and I hope you feel accomplished with the results!

Space Wrangler by AmbaDev 2020-10-06T00:18:40Z

Great entry! I bumped into a bug where I wasn't able to move after leaving the level and checking the tutorial. Restarting totally fixed it and I had a great time playing it!

Labrynth by Rockclaw 2020-10-05T23:03:01Z

Love the art style and the music! The character has a lot of personality for it's simplicity.

Inside Divine Comedy by Yulia_li 2020-10-06T18:06:44Z

Playing this game for awhile was rather hypnotic, I loved the circular effects going on. I wish there was a bit of invincibility when you hit enemies as sometimes I felt trapped, and wasting all my berries to get to a good spot was frustrating. I also experienced a moment where after my health hit 0 but before the level reset I had picked up a berry. It still brought me back to the beginning. I guess I can't complain much because of course, it is literally Hell.

Overall, love your attention to the theme, love the inspiration (The Divine Comedy is an incredible classic and I think you brought it to life quite nicely here). The background visuals were stunning, and discovering new enemies was always a treat.

Suit Of Armor by Steffy 2020-10-08T17:02:26Z

I actually had to go back to this a second time as the first time I tried to play I didn't realize the context for it's creation. So I finished it, because honestly, your story is great. It's amazing that this is a family project, this industry is really booming and there's never been a better time to start learning skills for art or programming. It's crystal clear how much love went into this and I hope everyone involved is happy with the results. 10/10 would wander the castle again.

EDIT: Wanted to also include that the simple graphics actually drew me into this initially. Love the slightly improved Atari aesthetic, with a special highlight to the perspective on the walls which is very well done.

Tchu Tchu Stuck in a Loop by Bruyère Alice 2020-10-05T23:21:50Z

Really enjoyed the color scheme and the aesthetic. Very chaotic, but fun to play and try to beat.

Crappy Dragon Quest by Gorka_Man 2020-10-06T05:32:40Z

I finished with -100000 points. It was a blast. I played with my partner and the mad scrambling to try and place letters was hilarious. I think you actually may have a goldmine on your hands if you extended it to multiplayer and had one player draw a shape, leaving the others to scramble and place the letters in the correct spots within the time. It's a very silly concept but honestly, really liked it.

The Holy L∞ptown by DesertMaw 2020-10-06T18:40:08Z

The graphics drew me in, you did an incredible job building a cohesive world. I've seen you say that there was a lot planned that didn't make it in, but I think what you managed to do in a few days speaks volumes. I didn't make it that far, I got the sword to the boss early on and it didn't really look like I was doing any damage? Could just be me being bad. But I commend you for your attention to the theme, as well as the visual style which I don't think can really be praised enough. tpose magda.png Maybe when Magda is finished selling pears, she can say "How long will I t-pose? Nobody knows!"

A few minutes at the museum by Raphael Dias 2020-10-07T01:16:03Z

I had a good time playing what I did! I built a similar idea to yours and I think ran into some of the same problems, I spent a good chunk of time finding things and then just trying to figure out where they went by running around. Sometimes things happened, other times they didn't. But the art drew me in and it didn't disappoint! Stylistically and conceptually, very nice title and good work done. 10/10 NSP reference.

Carman by steambrain 2020-10-06T05:35:52Z

Some of the physics caused some frustration, they kept bouncing all over the place. Otherwise, really silly concept executed in a way that put multiple smiles on my face. In the end I didn't finish as Secret kept falling into the hole against my wishes, but I really did enjoy my time with this!

The Magic Hat by Shanzhai 2020-10-05T23:36:41Z

Love love LOVED this! The mechanics are incredible. It was a blast to figure out some of these levels. There is nothing more satisfying than a double jump.

ShredyCat by BBadger 2020-10-06T17:49:48Z

I had to go back and play this a second time, I think I bumped into a bug. After dying, the dark grey number counting down from 30 and the white number in the top right vanished. The only items that spawned were the poison bottles. Besides that, I really enjoyed this concept, especially how you managed the health bar. Best part by far is the evil quantum monkey, really cool design.

Echoes of Ouroboros by macaroni.dev 2020-10-06T05:21:18Z

I can't stress enough how good the character design is. Stylistically, it's on point. One small point of frustration was if both the player and copy are dead there's nothing to do but wait for the timer. Not sure if it plays into later levels more but I do plan on playing more to find out when I can handle the puzzle concepts a little better! Overall, excellent concept, excellent characters.

Pogo Knight by TheWinrawr 2020-10-07T05:09:59Z

Love the concept, love the graphics, LOVE the music. Somewhat hard to control, in my opinion? I found the constant danger made it necessary to hold down the down arrow at almost all times to prepare for the next pogo. I think if it was a bit more forgiving, maybe some more platforms or something, it'd be well on it's way. Platforms wouldn't really mess with the game so much either considering the regular bullets. The player would still be on their feet.

Skicret Agent by SachaWitto 2020-10-08T17:26:41Z

Great fun, graphically ambitious for the jam, and a great take on the theme. This entry I could definitely see myself playing more of if it was expanded. Great work and well done!

The Sun Wants a Hug! by nimmems 2020-10-07T20:23:15Z

Always happy to support a fellow GMS2 dev! I saw this when it was a WIP somewhere and I'm glad it popped up. Really enjoyed the art style and music on this one, and the take on the theme. Not much to say really, just that it's simple and it works!! Great job, and fantastic work on the Sun, he looks so huggable...

Cat | Stealth | Box by JakeGilla 2020-10-09T19:20:22Z

I think some more instructions on this or the itch page would go a long way. I 'beat' it, as in I got to the thanks for playing page, but honestly wasn't sure what was going on. I'm sure I'd like the idea of the bones mechanic, it looks neat, but I do not understand it currently. Plus the guards move waaaay too fast when you pick one up to really make it worth investigating properly right now. I only made it out of their path once without being caught when I picked them up.

With that being said, for a first go at Unity this is very well done. Graphically it's very pleasing, and the game does seem to work bug free! I enjoyed my time with it, and honestly it has potential if you pursued it further! Good work!

RunPower by mohmehdi 2020-10-06T00:16:47Z

Made it nine rounds in one go, when I clicked restart I wasn't able to use the gun at all in the following round. That being said I certainly enjoyed it enough for a full playthrough. Plus, props for the nicely designed character.

Grotinger by RizekCajk 2020-10-07T19:28:17Z

I played this all the way through. I wanted to finish it to give the best feedback I could. First of all, well done. I loved every second of it. I developed routes to try to optimize the most money in the quickest time, and got faster and faster at navigating the layout. The art, music, and jumping is SMOOTH. It's great. Anything with a functional double jump is already off to a good start in my book. But as someone else pointed out, it is grindy. It took a long time to finish a run. Upgrades would help this a lot, but even if you didn't want upgrades my personal favorite spot was right before the boulders where you could just dump a whole horde into the lava. That was great, more of that please. It helps speed up the process and is just satisfying. Overall though, I really enjoyed my time with this and think you did outstanding work.

ray caster racing js by awesomearcade365 2020-10-09T17:44:26Z

The game was very simple, but enjoyable! It worked well, I didn't encounter any bugs. Mostly I'm just impressed with your choice of engine. It's clear you're very skilled with it and I think that makes this a fantastic entry. As others have said, a lap counter or a little extra to keep the player around would've been great, but still I very much enjoyed it.

Nico's Halloween Story by raks 2020-10-08T21:50:51Z

I've never felt so bad about losing a game like that. Nicely done, perhaps an additional third lane to add some more variety might be good? There were definitely points I felt I was taking almost unavoidable damage, could just be my skill level mind you. I really enjoyed this though!

Fire in time by leggy 2020-10-06T00:27:37Z

Simple, self explanatory, and a fun little time killer. It was great to mess around with.

Rolly Hammy by MustachedNinja 2020-10-06T17:41:34Z

rollyhammy error.png

Going off of what others had said, here's the error message. Let me know when it gets fixed because this one caught my eye! Thanks!

Punpkin Loops by FreddyTurbina 2020-10-07T04:21:27Z

Had a great time playing, the controls were really nice, but I would have liked if there were more obstacles to jump over or dive under!

The Bagel the better by Shimali 2020-10-09T16:59:04Z

Really fun idea, I enjoyed my time with it. Graphics were very well done and nice and silly to boot! I found the dichotomy of the two worlds was a little jarring (no jarred food pun intended), I wasn't sure why one wouldn't want to interact with every bagel they saw. Some healthy items in the unhealthy world and vise versa as well as spreading (no bagel pun intended) out the bagel spawns might help incentivize the player to move around more in the overworld and really seek out the bonus worlds.

Stuck on the Train by Conneli 2020-10-06T16:29:53Z

@fadrikalexander Thanks so much for playing! I think if given more time I would have liked to make the items optional to pickup, instead of automatically getting added. Potentially hiding them better too to give the player more opportunity to discover why they need them first. Also, jumping out of the window would have been an excellent way to reset the loop and I'm kicking myself that I didn't think of that. Thanks for the feedback!

Stuck on the Train by Conneli 2020-10-06T16:30:24Z

@thevideogamester Hey thank you for playing and the kind words! It means a lot. Glad you had a good time!

Stuck on the Train by Conneli 2020-10-06T16:47:18Z

@n8dev Hey there, sorry to hear that. I've placed an install-able .exe file as an alternative download to the .zip. I haven't heard other reports of installation errors yet, if you have a chance would you be able to let me know what sort of errors you bumped into?

Stuck on the Train by Conneli 2020-10-07T04:10:47Z

@steambrain thank you so much for the feedback, it's all valid and all appreciated! Multiple endings is an interesting idea and I think it would be worth pursuing should the project continue. Thanks again, and thanks for playing!

Stuck on the Train by Conneli 2020-10-07T16:04:01Z

@random-storykeeper Wow! Thank you so much for the detailed feedback. It is all appreciated. I'm glad you played it through all the way, and yes the dialogue is something that'll have to be improved if the project continues in any way. Thank you again!

Stuck on the Train by Conneli 2020-10-07T22:01:09Z

@gord10ahmet There is now! https://youtu.be/p_zCENdqhQY

Stuck on the Train by Conneli 2020-10-08T21:07:43Z

@djayne Yeah, first game jam ever to be honest. Really glad you liked it, and the text bug is basically corrected now I'm just not sure if I want to keep the build as flawed but authentically done in the three days, or if it's enough of an issue to warrant the update.

Deathless Curse by BridgeOnAStick 2020-10-09T02:45:19Z

Loved the character designs, it was a silly adventure! The enemy design in particular was spot on. Those computers? Hilarious. Some health would be nice, and honestly when I got the throwing weapon instead of the gun, it felt like a huge downgrade. Really fun entry though, I enjoyed it.

EvoLoop by GroundDoon 2020-10-06T19:49:07Z

The graphics are nice, the music is nice, but unfortunately I couldn't really figure out what to do. It might be good to incorporate some detailed explanations if not in game, then either on this page or itch. The concept seems cool, I'm just really not sure what exactly I need to do.

The Cursed Knight by djayne 2020-10-08T05:08:29Z

Very fun! I'm not quite sure how I broke the loop but I was super happy when I did, and then I won! The pixel art was really nice, great indicators on how defeated enemies were. Nice work.

Escape this testground! by chakaramba 2020-10-08T23:01:37Z

Very fun in it's current state. The time limit with the transformation is an excellent mechanic. It might be a good idea to extend it a little because in a lot of cases the player was reaaaaally rushing against the time. You could balance it with an auto-transform button that would transform them on the spot instead of needing to wait, which might help the pace a bit. Overall, really loved this and great job!

[WebGL/HTML5] Out-looped by MelekTaus 2020-10-08T17:34:50Z

Great fun!! I actually got stuck at one point and had to restart, but I enjoyed it enough to play it all the way again to the end. Smooth responsive controls and enemies that don't mess around. This was a blast. stuck in place.png

Anomaly by Mat Stevenson 2020-10-05T23:14:14Z

The music was very atmospheric. Loved the visuals, and the concept of upgrading and improving over time was enjoyable to figure out and explore!

The Impossible Room by RainyDay2800 2020-10-08T04:59:33Z

Finished the levels! As others have said, kind of unnerving to see yourself walk up to you but very cool! As a note, I'm attaching a visual of a bug I had in level 2. If you land on a bullet while falling and shoot a bullet at the bullet, hitting yourself, you don't land on the ground or transition to level 3. It's a very specific situation and honestly it was really funny. Other than that, really enjoyed it!! impossible room.png

Heaven / Hell by ElusiveMirage 2020-10-07T04:34:36Z

Thanks for sharing this. I enjoyed the story, and the choice-driven experience. I bumped into a bug where I had to repeat the first loop twice, and the first encounter with the mysterious white figure led directly into a battle. Thanks again for a very cool take on the theme.

I'm stuck in a pool by TheBugger 2020-10-08T22:50:17Z

Definitely a stressful game. Great use of 3D, love the graphics. I think with some tweaking you could find a fine line between what the player can and can't see because the pop-in was a bit jarring at times. But it captures a very unique experience and I enjoyed playing it!

Frozen in Time by TwoHands 2020-10-06T04:57:32Z

That little momentum the character has goes a long way in adding to a stressful situation. The impending time limit, the atmosphere, the simple dark characters, it lends itself to the overall vibe well. It's one of the only games I've seen where unseen pitfalls haven't been a great source of frustration due to the quick restart. So stressful, but not necessarily frustrating!

ΩΩΩOrz by rachel2386 2020-10-07T04:14:02Z

Hey I'd love to play this! Please tag me when it's working!

Stuck in the Luntic by Harrm 2020-10-06T19:43:51Z

Very much enjoyed the atmosphere. A+ character creation. I think I got pretty far, but got stuck between the blobby creature and the hole in the ground. stuck.png Loved the take on the theme, maybe changing the floor colors to let the player know how far they've gotten would help give some pacing to it? Overall though, nice work.
