This is so fun! Music is great!

Yes! Can’t wait to give this a try! :)

SPOILERS!

I went through the event data file. I found one titled "What the!?" describing a ship THAT I FLEW shooting MYSELF down. Bravo.

It's so cool! Good job shaun, it's an amazing game. Are you interested in adding content to it? Could be a nice casual game on play store.

squareworx-studio 2020-10-06 16:06

Worth it! this was really fun, truly amazing what you achieved in such a short space of time. I can see how this can become a full-fledged game on the app store, it's casual enough, imagine having this run on a longer timescale similar to fallout shelter, periodically checking in to see how the ship is faring. with the occasional encounter. I liked this. also I just had to get my ship disassembled! brilliant

This is pretty fun, which is all one can ask for with jam games, really! But I did encounter some frustrations, particularly bugs. Sometimes the mouse double clicks when I click once, causing me to choose an option before I had time to read the event (I imagine because the same click event is active when the new buttons appear) and sometimes when dragging resources, the click event will stop stop registering and the resource will disappear from my mouse. Something I like about the games you make is that you work a lot with the art skills you have. The ship isn't the prettiest, yet the pixel icons look nice, and the streaking parallax stars in the background are so simple yet so effective. And I like the use of colour, which I find tends to be lacking in games set in space. Something I think the design is lacking is an end goal. Yes, the theme is Stuck In a Loop (a theme I don't particularly like for this very reason), but even once you've settled on a planet, the score is inconsequential and forgotten about as you start the next timeline.

EDIT: Lol I have no idea why the comment was posted twice, but I also wanted to say I think mesetatron did a fantastic job on the music!

Thanks @finn-truman ! Argh sorry to hear about the events, you know the whole way through the jam I wondered if that was going to be an issue but just never seemed to run into it so I had assumed by luck the button positions never lined up for that to happen. Could have been easily fixed just by adding a bit of a delay before you can select an option. Oh well!

And yeah I really wanted to get scores tracked or something like that but was too indecisive with where to put it in the UI up until there was simply no time.

m8rix 2020-10-07 12:46

Super solid entry after all! And I must say that the soundtrack is one of the coolest yet.. Good job of you!

belonzik 2020-10-07 13:36

This just oozes polish, I will never understand how you manage to do this. Gameplay itself was really enjoyable although didn't feel like much of a challenge since I'd come across something in due time that I was starting to run low on. The very first event I got was the blackhole event, which is definitely my favorite, forcing you to make decisions on what to throw away at break-neck speed, made it such a chaotic and unexpected moment. I wish there were more similar events, or just more events which would really have you struggling to think of what's the best thing to do. Still, this is a fantastic and fun game as is.

Wow followed your journey on twitch, and it has become a really cool game. It is just so science-fictiony. good job!!

conneli 2020-10-09 01:13

Wow!! This is the type of game I could play time and time again. It's a great take on Oregon trail and the random event text absolutely oozes with sci-fi excellence. My one comment is I'd love the ability to take myself out of the ship and replace the spot with some food or something to get a much deserved game over. Really well done entry though, loved every second.

mark-kelly 2020-10-09 11:05

Very fun. I loved the way the interface looks, very clean and readable. Well done!

necauqua 2020-10-09 14:48

I actually really liked the text aestetics, very niche and I dont know how to describe, just the way I like it, minimalist and/or clean maybe? Anyway, I liked this a lot, and the music was very good too, good job :)

Can't believe this does not already have more reviews, it's so good.

sinusquell 2020-10-09 17:56

This was so much fun! I loved the music, though I did sort of miss some sfx for certain things, like when an event pops up. Also the idea of meeting another smiliar starship fits in quite well with the theme of timelines. Pretty cool!

jose-bonilla 2020-10-10 06:02

Impressive game. I did not particularly like the graphics, but apart from that, it's obviously a very well made game. Also thanks for playing my game on your stream (however bad). Good luck!

vesk 2020-10-14 14:57

Cool game. Fairly innovative idea. The music and graphics are quite good. Considering that it is the only way to interact with the game, the UI could've been better and more intuitive, and it seems to me that the game wasn't very balanced, as I won it on my first try. Overall though it's not bad.

tunahead 2020-10-14 18:00

Very nice Idea and Game! Really love the music and atmosphere.

The random Events where pretty nice and reminded me of FTL.

fumybulb 2020-10-17 13:45

From the first glance at the screenshots, I remembered FTL :)

A very consistent game design!

I wonder if settling in Eden is considered a "good ending" (at least for humanity)?

joellikespigs 2020-10-18 11:22

Incredibly polished - but blimey, is it hard. I feel like food and fuel resources run out so quickly with few chances to get them back - I've never managed to get beyond the first planet I encounter simply because my Fuel or Food runs dry.

But it kept me coming back and it's a genuinely good game especially considering the time contraints

scottgoldsmith 2020-10-18 16:11

Great game! Love the artwork.

dinoraz 2020-10-21 05:57

Quite enjoyable, I liked the part where I ejected 200 innocent people to avoid getting sent into a black hole. Take one for the team!

sarajs 2020-10-22 23:29

@joellikespigs yeah it's tricky. The type of thing that likely takes more than a few hours to balance out! I leaned on trying to get more variety (which even that was a struggle) which meant only really ending up with one or two ways to get each necessary 'resource'.

2020-10-25 14:16

Wow :) The whole thing felt really polished and cohesive! The music was great too!
