Really hard to tell what's going on in this one and therefor I dont know what to say about it.

Quite enjoyable, I liked the part where I ejected 200 innocent people to avoid getting sent into a black hole. Take one for the team!
A very good concept with some major, yet easily fixable, flaws. I'd like to clarify I only played the web version so these might just be exclusive to the web version so take this with a grain of salt. The biggest issues are that the game is too glitchy and the controls feel pretty off. This combination makes for an experience that can feel really uncontrollable at times. I even managed to get hardlocked at a screen transition because my snake got killed on loop. No matter what button I held I would just instantly die after respawning. I stopped playing the game after that. But dont get me wrong. This is an insanely good concept for a game. I really want this game to be good and I'm sure with these bug fixes, this would be an incredible game especially for Ludum Dare standards.
too soon.. pretty good idea though
A pretty nice little game! There's no overarching issues with it in my experience, only small nitpicks I could make about some of its design. But other than that, the game is great and a good fit for the theme.
My highest score was 14. Very nice take on the theme! And I agree with people that this could work pretty well as a little mobile game.
thank you @jonathanfdr ! I had a bunch more variations planned and I wanted to put in some secrets that were less RNG based so I fo feel like I'll make this into a full game. Oh and there's a couple more variations than what you listed but both are pretty rare and are only cosmetic changes.
Definitely has some room for improvement. It can be very easy to the game to desync asteroids in a way that makes them near impossible to block, especially if you're low on shield (which is often hard to avoid since getting extra shield is often RNG in of itself). Not a bad concept for an endless style game though.
The best game of this jam I've played so far. For the sake of criticism, I will say the abstract gameplay can have some odd difficulty spikes and some weird difficulty scaling in general but apart from that, this is extremely solid. (also some volume options would have been nice)
did the only thing there really is to do in this game, and drew a massive snake spanning the entire dimensions of the screen. wonderful. I wish you luck finishing this game
Nice! I think it would have been beneficial to have more control over your vertical position (fast fall, variable jump heights, etc). I got to 16 and then got the pattern that dips down (v-shape) and couldn't fall fast enough to make the jump after, so it was an impossible pattern. Not bad overall though!
Very good! If I didn't know any better I would think this was a real arcade game. Quite fun!
Pretty interesting; I think it would have been nice to have a L/R inverted controls option. I never invert game controls normally but here I think it could be more understandable, since here the physics means left arrow makes you go right and vice versa
Super cool! Other people have well beaten me to saying this, but I find the 3D box in a 2D environment concept really interesting and unique
Short, simple, but not too shabby at all! As others have said, the RNG of where santa goes and how the presents fall can be a little unfair at times, but I have no other complaints really
Very good, although I will say (especially with the box trajectory being somewhat unpredictable) the best level rating seems kind of ridiculous to achieve in later levels. Since getting a good rating isn't required it isn't a major issue, however. Otherwise, this is solid basis for a delivery game!
Really unique and interesting concept! I'd love to see this expanded upon, since it's evident right now that the game has to end quickly to compensate for the current simplicity of the game (which is understandable in a jam setting)
Platformers are a very exhausted genre at this point, and yet despite that this game manages to be both unique and fun in how it controls. This is a really good one. My only complaint would be that the air momentum is a bit hard to get used to, since you continue to deaccelerate quite significantly even when off the ground. Especially given the space theming, I wouldn't expect so much air resistance. This is really just a nitpick though, for an otherwise great entry
I'll have more to say here once I rest up. Good luck yall!
@ludev Fortunately after looking into it I figured out exactly what causes the issue, the bad news is I don't think I'm allowed to drop the fix for it since it's past the Compo period
It only happens if you complete every contract for a given day, so you can avoid this crash by leaving at least 1 contract unfulfilled each day (there's no penalty for this)
My apologies for the issues
Edit: I reread the jam rules and apparently bug fixes are allowed, so I'll give the fix soon
I appreciate the interest in further versions! I was initially unsure if I'd ever continue this idea, but I may do it if I can find the time. My first priority would be cleaning up the programming though, since it got a bit sloppy towards the end
@ruslan-kossak Thank you! Do you have any more details you could share on the crash?
Will look into it soon o7
@ismael-rodriguez Part of the original plan was to be able to explore a bit outside of the two rooms that are currently in the game, where some rooms would be more than a screen long and require you to move in order to scroll the camera. If I add on to this game in the future I will likely still implement this
@ismael-rodriguez More so for resource gathering, although that's also a pretty good idea!
@johnsensei I'll try to figure this soon, thanks for letting me know!
@automatonvx Yep, figuring out the criteria is crucial for successful rat missions! Hoping if I get time to make a full version, I can implement some better feedback for the player
@johnsensei I think I found the issue now, thanks for providing the crash message!
Still unsure about the error @ruslan-kossak described, so if anyone runs into the same crash please do tell! o7
I'll be releasing another bug fix version soon (with still no more features added yet) but I'll have it separate from the current download since it has been so long now since the compo period ended, and I want to have both so that people can tell I haven't been cheating by adding new content.
@cureja Thanks for playing!
@glove Thank you! I'm hoping to expand upon this concept at some point, but of course I'm trying to be a bit cautious in how I do that since it is such a unique idea
Has fast gameplay, which I really like, but does unfortunately lead to the issues many others have mentioned. Has some cool ideas though, like the package throwing recoil for boosting
As far as fixing the floor clips, an easy fix I'd recommend is to cap the downwards velocity. For instance, if we assume a tile is 32 by 32 pixels (may not be true here, just using this as an example), make sure the player doesn't fall faster than 32 pixels per frame/tick (may need some adjusting based on how your physics system works)
Not bad overall! Just a little bit buggy
Cute! I like the pet to speed up mechanic quite a lot
Pretty good! I do kind of wish it'd show your score at the end, but I think I got around 650 points on my first run
Quite nice, although I will say the end starts to drag on a little bit. Since the game fully restarts upon dying, I think it would be better to make the sections slightly shorter but more difficult (except the big bullets, which I think already move fast enough)
Overall I like it though!
This might be my favourite entry so far, very well done! Love the characters and the gameplay. My only nit-pick would be the lack of sounds for textboxes and the constantly restarting music, but other than that this is a really great one
@yuriscat Ah, thank you!
Really cool one! Mouse movement is super fast and responsive, which gives this game a really high skill ceiling. Frantic and enjoyable.
Really interesting puzzle game, but has a pretty steep learning curve. Also as someone who immediately figured out diagonal placements, I still agree level 2 was by far the hardest. In my case it was actually difficult because I didn't understand how the harvesting worked (since it gives you more units, but only gives you the red units)
Still, would love to see more of this! Very fun mechanics, even if they were a bit confusing at first
Extremely solid game, and the music is especially good. Really the only nitpicks I'd have is that the tileset is a little bland and undecorated, and ability 3 isn't really on theme, but everything else was great
This was an incredibly cozy and relaxing experience - I especially love the audio (both the sounds and music are great). There's a slight mismatch in style for several of the visual assets but it's not a huge issue really
Very well executed summoning game! Felt really cool when I started to learn certain recipes without looking at the book. Reminds me a lot of Infinite Craft
Also SPOILERS: Got this ending Screenshot 2024-04-18 213720.png
Heads up - the web version currently isn't working and throws this message: Screenshot 2024-04-16 190958.png Unsure if this is an issue with the game itself or with the LD website, so I'd recommend seeing if an itch upload runs correctly before trying to make any game fixes
I haven't rated yet for the record, but let me know if you do get the web version working
Pretty cool! Honestly it gives me some "rage game" vibes in a good way (it reminds me of I Wanna Be the Guy)
Really unique and humorous idea; although I found the spikes a bit hard to see sometimes
Add me to the html5 mailing list too (tag me when it's up)
Nice! Really love the portrait art, although I would have liked some music or a bit more audio in general
Interesting idea! I like that you tried something new here, such as with the runes system. Graphics are really nice.
However, the game is held back a bit by some bugs (which leads to some balancing issues). Some of the upgrades don't work properly (I've tested the click upgrades specifically, and they don't stack like you'd expect). This ends up stunting your blood collection significantly, since the only other thing that collects blood automatically is swords. Otherwise you're just left to click for 2 a pop due to the aforementioned bug, which isn't great. Also, some of the UI numbers don't update correctly (such as unit costs)
Otherwise it's pretty fun
Surprisingly fun and charming! My only nitpick would be some typos but other than that the game is really fun for what it isScreenshot 2024-04-17 213211.png also check this best score
oh also a web version will be coming, it was meant to release simultaneously but the html5 export had too many unique bugs for me to fix right now
@manabreak @andreas-decker @josang1567 @yohadams Thank you all for playing!
Covering the bed is definitely a common "cheese", although it does have the disadvantage of monsters already being close when they get to your line of defence : )
@sirjupitron @simontzky @wilsk @derllie Thank you for playing!
@adam-gallina The enemies being near invisible were indeed an intentional design choice. Glad someone specifically pointed thatout because I thought it was pretty cool
@roughskin Good to hear you enjoyed it! Unfortunately I don't see a mobile port coming due to financial factors, but I'm still flattered to hear such high praise!
@starless @ben-albert @ansible Thank you all for playing as well!
@silkworm-sweatshop Music composition is definitely a weak point of mine so it was a pretty convenient choice to have ambient audio, haha
@mael-rios Intriguing to hear this perspective! Of course I'm sorry to hear about you experiencing actual sleep paralysis; I've had more mild occurences of it myself in the past but admittedly never to the point of having sleep paralysis demons (but I think it's a really interesting topic). If anything the game's visual style and creature design is heavily inspired by FAITH: The Unholy Trinity (really cool game - highly recommend)
@forik @kseniya @ajpl Thanks for playing! (or considering playing, in Forik's case haha)
@funnypumpkin Interestingly I've heard some people say they liked the audio implementation but I personally agree the sounds become a bit much in the end game. In theory a volume slider would have been nice but unfortunately didn't have the time. Still, thanks for playing and for the feedback!
Also thank you everyone for helping this game reach 20 ratings! I'll probably come back to play more submissions later, but for now I'll be less active as I start to focus on non-LD work (since 20 is the minimum required ratings)
@vasco-freitas @zirrrus @untitled-studios Thank you all for playing! : )
Very nice idea with good graphics and good world. Personally I would have liked better indication that my inventory was full. It was also a bit frustrating that throwing out an item gets rid of them permanently and there's no item respawning, so the game can easily become impossible to clear (if it is possible to clear?)
Very clever "meta" use of the theme, and I like the aesthetics. My biggest gripe lies with the instant portal tiles. I don't see anything that stops you from just portal looping everything like the attached image, and it kind of makes the other tiles obsolete. Screenshot 2024-04-16 135703.png Also earlier in the game I think the map bugged because there was about 4 minutes where the view just kept zooming out, then snapping back in, all while the game didn't place any new input or summon portals. Activating fast forward seemed to fix this
Pretty cool! I have made the most horrifying creature of them all: A SKELETON Screenshot 2024-04-17 211246.png
