The art style is fun.

dinoraz 2024-04-16 09:12

Heads up - the web version currently isn't working and throws this message: Screenshot 2024-04-16 190958.png Unsure if this is an issue with the game itself or with the LD website, so I'd recommend seeing if an itch upload runs correctly before trying to make any game fixes

I haven't rated yet for the record, but let me know if you do get the web version working

geostargames 2024-04-16 09:12

html5 build didn't work for me for some reason so i installed the windows version, visuals were very good i really like how you used gamejam theme in the game. well done. music and audio was too loud and after a while it was really annoying

chrisbeck 2024-04-16 09:24

Good attempt for a first time using the engine! The art is nice and consistant, I only managed to get two items to summon, the bottle and the piano, so a few more of them would have been good. Overall a solid platformer that fits the theme well! Good job.

dagunov 2024-04-16 09:28

Great game! Had the most fun playing it!

neowhoru 2024-04-16 09:35

@dinoraz yeah sorry html5 build doesnt work - i had tried uploading but failed and wasn't first able to delete it (now its deleted). Will check this later.

flaterectomy 2024-04-16 12:58

You must have fixed the HTML5 build as I was just playing it. :D

I summoned pianos, bottles and toilets. Having the physics of the summoned items (potentially) tipping over is a fun mechanic. I did miss some grace/coyote time in terms of platforming, and I felt there were some inconsistencies in moving (I kept jumping on the little diagonal slope of the bottle just fine, until I at one point slipped off instead). And a couple more sound effects would've been welcome, like landing, item pickup, object landing, etc.

I did get stuck in the ground underneath a fallen bottle a few times, and had to reload the game to resume.

I like the palette used, and the pixel art is solid. Everything's easily identifiable. Music is nice and vibing. Thanks for letting me play ~~Beavis~~ uh, ~~Cornholio~~ uh, Summolio!

neowhoru 2024-04-16 14:55

@flaterectomy haha thank you. Yeah as i learned the new engine i had some more stuff on the list but couldn't fix it in time. Plan to make a postjam version (i also felt coyote time is missing but time runs out lol):)

It was an interesting experience using godot - but i should next time use the engine a week before more often :)

sicosiber 2024-04-17 19:26

Liked crushing the guy with a piano, fulfilled my inmost dreams... of crushing someone with a piano... maybe next time I'll crush him with the toilet. Overall, really fun! had trouble summoning the sizes of things that I wanted, but I figure that was probably a skill-gap on my part, great job!

konstantinreed 2024-04-18 09:25

Your idea of summoning objects to overcome obstacles was really cool. Though, I got stuck between the toilet and the piano once, lol. Good job!

neowhoru 2024-04-18 10:05

yeah i think i should first try to implement something that you can die if you got crushed by the items :joy: As this is my learn godot project i want to improve it.

hurp 2024-04-18 16:35

Looks good and with a pretty cool mechanic :)

kujoen 2024-04-18 16:53

I noticed a very large load time for the HTML5 build, I am guessing you selected "export all" in the resource option of Godot's web export. Try "Selected Scenes and Dependencies", it has a drastic effect on load times.

I actually had a very fun time playing this, lots of funny moments when pianos came crashing down and yeeted the enemy or myself into oblivion. To make things a bit better you could include a quick reset when "r" is pressed, I did get myself stuck a few times and it would help for that.

Nonetheless fun and funny game, good job.

i1dar 2024-04-18 17:50

nice and fun, but its need to fix a lot of bugs =)

neowhoru 2024-04-18 17:56

@kujoen oh thank you - i was glad that it runs haha but i will try it and reupload if this works :D Yeah i should include a small reset..i might add this shortly for a post jam build.

Most of the time i was fighting issue lack of knowledge. I used godot 3.x before a year ago and didnt noticed that the connect parameters for signals changed a bit so this was an issue with a error to me :)

However if you used unit before i was highly AMAZED by the build times for web and windows..i mean in unity i have to switch, click build, wait 10 minutes, switch etc. - so just one small build take around 20 minutes. In GoDo ? I think it took not more as 2 minutes for both lol :D

@i1dar oh yeah definetly

flogram 2024-04-18 18:03

Died too many times to lack of coyote time, gave up. The summoned items were cool though, as well as the summoning animation!

wouter52 2024-04-18 19:36

What a fun little game! The music is euh.. interesting, the whole thing gives me memevibes somehow ^^ I love the random objects that get summoned in  Sometimes the fall on top of the player and then the player gets stuck in the level

natablanco 2024-04-18 21:39

Not bad,funny main character

ungarblapp 2024-04-18 21:48

I really enjoyed this, just great fun stuff! Looked great, had a great concept. I played too many times!

Also I got myself stuck in the floor once! Summonolio.png

Haha! Just Great Work!

aweskybear 2024-04-18 22:16

I had a smile on my face while playing this one. :D It felt hurting for this piano to fall onto you XD .. geez.. a big piano :S It's a cute entry. I ooonly wished one hit didn't kill you - at times felt overwhelming .

Overall, a cute little entry. ^^

BTW I noticed your comments around build times. My build takes 5 seconds (dev build) and 20 seconds PROD build :D ... you can try it if you're irritated xd / JavaScript.. bundling.

snowdrama 2024-04-19 03:45

Fun idea, got stuck under several beer bottles and couldn't get out, would be nice to have a reset or even better like a force push to shove objects around, Overall good stuff though!

neowhoru 2024-04-19 12:28

@kujoen i tried what you said but i have to select all resources to export right ? Seems to be the same size. However i added also a R to respawn so if you stuck you don't need to restart the game now.

kujoen 2024-04-19 15:50

@neowhoru Don't use select all resources, use export selected scenes and choose the scenes you are using.

neowhoru 2024-04-19 17:47

@kujoen hmm you mean the level scenes ? as i used all scenes there somewhere (some are objects for example). Also when i do i get the same size - the .wasm file is around 40MB and the pck around 10 MB..maybe i need to add some kind of compression ? But thanks anyway :)

peralllax 2024-04-19 20:37

I got way to invested in this lol really fun game while learning the engine!

geckoo1337 2024-04-23 16:01

Interesting platform game with a clever use of the theme. I really like the main aesthetic which reminds me of my old Atari 2600. Your graphics art is better, but the color palette inspired this feeling. The controls work well as expected, and I enjoyed crushing enemies with my objects. The piano is a classical trap :)

I am blocked between two pianos - there is a collider bug sometimes. However, I love your entry. Well done. PS I will take a look at your games on the Nintendo Store. It seems to me that they could be relevant. I wish you the best ++

test.jpg

neowhoru 2024-04-26 05:44

@geckoo1337 Thank you very much for this warm words :) Yeah the collider bug was something i was not really able to fix in time -.- . But your screenshot looks funny :). If you need some support getting your games on switch (if you are ready to go with the devkit) feel free to contact me :)

trexxak 2024-05-04 00:25

Fun concept and bestest MTV-like cartoon character ever :D I understand you only during the competition learned Godot, which makes this quite a great first game in the new engine! Super Leistung!
