oh also a web version will be coming, it was meant to release simultaneously but the html5 export had too many unique bugs for me to fix right now

manabreak 2024-04-15 08:47

My ordinary Friday night  Nice job on this one! I think I found a way to cheese it, by placing the shields in a circle around the bed and then placing the cannons in the middle.

andreas-decker 2024-04-15 09:46

Man, this game clicked with me: A lot of fun, crazy ramping up of attacks, and three significantly different options to build my defenses. Good stuff!

josang1567 2024-04-15 10:00

Good game, I got over 700000 points in a short time, it was pretty fun, but after summoning 3 beings I didn't even need to move, maybe you should add something to make the player move instead of covering the bed, overall it was quite funny and the monster was terrifying

yohadams 2024-04-15 10:25

Simple gameplay, but well-executed theming and great artwork.. Zrzut ekranu 2024-04-15 122300.png

@manabreak @andreas-decker @josang1567 @yohadams Thank you all for playing!

Covering the bed is definitely a common "cheese", although it does have the disadvantage of monsters already being close when they get to your line of defence : )

Captura de pantalla 2024-04-15 105455.png Hi! Amazing game, i will keep playing.

simontzky 2024-04-15 17:02

WoW! Great! I love the mechanics of stacking up the lights on top of each other.

adam-gallina 2024-04-16 06:12

Really fun, and really well polished for only 14 hours?? I really liked how the enemy sprites were almost invisible apart from the eyes until the lights flashed, it was a really nice touch. The balance felt a bit easy, I made a ring of the first upgrade around the bed, and from there didn't have to do much to survive

roughskin 2024-04-16 11:07

14 hours! Wow, nice entry for a compo jam! The stacking mechanic it's super fun. I would love to see a mobile version (a little brighter for playing outside) because on my commute's I would play this non-stop. Really good entry!

wilsk 2024-04-16 11:23

Nice work, was atmospheric and nice looking enemies. Like I others I also worked out it was better to just sit over the bed and lean back from the keyboard :grinning:

derllie 2024-04-17 12:28

omg i love this 2d graphics and gameplay, you did a great job!

starless 2024-04-17 12:31

Nice visuals and cool concept. I enjoyed playing it :)

ben-albert 2024-04-17 12:33

Great idea, Solid graphics and solid gameplay loop! Well done!

ansible 2024-04-17 12:36

Nice fun, and good feedback on hits etc. I can sit and cover the bed as others say, and the current money gets covered over with the build as it grows. Nice entry!

silkworm-sweatshop 2024-04-17 13:04

Nice survival game! The art is nice and really great use of ambient sound (rain/thunder) in lieu of music. Camping definitely was the winning strategy but I still used movement to decide where to place the beings.

mael-rios 2024-04-17 13:33

Really fun game @dinoraz, the theme really hits home. I am a victim of daily sleep paralysis, and some of these creatures (the babadook!!) look really eerie. Loved to play it! The graphic style is perfect for this theme.

dinoraz 2024-04-17 14:35

@sirjupitron @simontzky @wilsk @derllie Thank you for playing!

@adam-gallina The enemies being near invisible were indeed an intentional design choice. Glad someone specifically pointed thatout because I thought it was pretty cool

@roughskin Good to hear you enjoyed it! Unfortunately I don't see a mobile port coming due to financial factors, but I'm still flattered to hear such high praise!

dinoraz 2024-04-17 14:45

@starless @ben-albert @ansible Thank you all for playing as well!

@silkworm-sweatshop Music composition is definitely a weak point of mine so it was a pretty convenient choice to have ambient audio, haha

@mael-rios Intriguing to hear this perspective! Of course I'm sorry to hear about you experiencing actual sleep paralysis; I've had more mild occurences of it myself in the past but admittedly never to the point of having sleep paralysis demons (but I think it's a really interesting topic). If anything the game's visual style and creature design is heavily inspired by FAITH: The Unholy Trinity (really cool game - highly recommend)

funnypumpkin 2024-04-18 07:58

Awesome game! But sounds are a bit too much

forik 2024-04-18 08:06

I saw your game on a stream, its look awesome and I like the theme of the game. Will try it at weekend =)

kseniya 2024-04-18 16:52

Wow! very cool game

ajpl 2024-04-18 17:05

Loved the theme, great atmosphere, the waling monsters were extra creepy - great game!

dinoraz 2024-04-19 00:04

@forik @kseniya @ajpl Thanks for playing! (or considering playing, in Forik's case haha)

@funnypumpkin Interestingly I've heard some people say they liked the audio implementation but I personally agree the sounds become a bit much in the end game. In theory a volume slider would have been nice but unfortunately didn't have the time. Still, thanks for playing and for the feedback!

dinoraz 2024-04-19 00:08

Also thank you everyone for helping this game reach 20 ratings! I'll probably come back to play more submissions later, but for now I'll be less active as I start to focus on non-LD work (since 20 is the minimum required ratings)

vasco-freitas 2024-04-21 02:35

I loved the mood, it felt very creepy, especially as the number of demons increased. The sounds work really well together and the graphics are great too. I liked the gameplay choices of the "beings of light", too bad there wasn't much strategy at the end besides quickly circling the bed. I had sleep paralysis once as a kid, scary stuff 😨

zirrrus 2024-04-27 18:49

Really cool, you created a great atmosphere and fun gameplay.

untitled-studios 2024-04-29 01:24

Simple but fun and well-polished. Sick mood, excellently juicy and creepy sound design. I'm a big fan of the lanky shadow fella. Good work.

dinoraz 2024-04-29 09:16

@vasco-freitas @zirrrus @untitled-studios Thank you all for playing! : )
