Really good execution! I love the new take on snake mechanics

vfewa 2023-05-02 05:14

Nice game! I like the cool Tron vibes from the game, and found myself having way more fun than I initially thought I would.

radgegames 2023-05-02 05:28

Really fun I had a critical failure but I don't know what I did

Really fun concept. The progression scales very well! Other than that, I have to point out that the music (although effort was clearly put into it) feels very wrong. I believe this is because the measure of your song is not very well defined. In the future I'd recommend composing with a better idea of what the ratio between your pulse (the notes that you play) and counterpulse (the overall flow of the song) is (most commonly 4/4). In any case, the game plays really well and I love the graphics! :))))

A nice game to play. It has slow expansion mechanics which is nice to progress. I really like the atmoshpere a lot. The game becomes a bit repetitive after a while, but I think there is a solid foundation to build upon. Genre blend is also well thought out. Considering this is a 3 day jam this game looks fairly complete.

My highest score was 652820 points before the enemy bases overpowered me. My best strategy was using clusters, focusing all resources on capturing one company, then breaking off the connections and having the two original bases focus all their resources on capturing new bases, for that sweet sweet capture bonus. Not sure if that was the optimal strategy since I also seemed to block myself off from being able to attack enemy bases sometimes, but it felt pretty good, so I rolled with it. Another help was that even if an enemy attacks, I could spawn a bike inside the base to repel the invader without losing health. That's the Legal_Transactions.bat deep strat lore that all Legal_Transactions.bat highscorers like myself need to know by heart.

But yeah, I really really liked the gameplay, I had a great time trying out different strategies, I think the building blocks of the gameplay (the tron/snake base, paths blocking off stuff, the different bike speeds etc) all meshed together and were balanced well and led to fun gameplay situations where you have to weigh a lot of things. Art and audio fit excellently as well, you really captured that retro cyber feel with the neon colors and everything, the retro file manager menu was a great touch too. Wonderful game and take on the theme, you did an amazing job here!

@captaindreamcast Just wanna say I always appreciate your comments, thanks! Will give your game a play soon.

random-ideation-studios 2023-05-03 05:56

Very good game I liked the idea!!!

The gameplay was also good but only problem you could have made more sfx!!

bentosfera 2023-05-03 08:59

Cool game overall, but i didn't understand the lose condition.

badcop 2023-05-03 09:01

this was fun!

i wish it didn't take so many clicks to deploy a car though

dinoraz 2023-05-03 09:21

Really unique and interesting concept! I'd love to see this expanded upon, since it's evident right now that the game has to end quickly to compensate for the current simplicity of the game (which is understandable in a jam setting)

fragment-games 2023-05-03 15:13

Loved the look and feel. Good retro vibes :-)

smoky01 2023-05-03 17:30

Coooool!!!

eli-delventhal 2023-05-03 17:38

Hmmm this crashes Chrome on Mac :(

hoshinu 2023-05-03 17:40

Whoa! This is awesome! I love the art style, I'm a big fan of this kind of retro vaporwave kind of aesthetic. I was a bit skeptical of how fun this kind of management game could be, but implementing the bugs that you have to attack actually made it really interesting! Excellent work!

sbeif 2023-05-03 18:34

I suspect that the high scores are not synchronized between players so I'll write mine here: 269600

Very nice game, simple concept but well thought out mechanics with a good execution. The web version could have been improved by enabling the full screen mode to see more of the map at the same time (sometimes it was hard to notice the attackers on the other side of the map).

gametrodon 2023-05-03 18:38

High Score of 847,560. Might try to see if I get can get a million later.

I'd personally love to see hotkeys of some sort, as I found clicking slowed me down in the later game. There was just so much stuff I didn't have time to respond to everything that was spawning in with the 5~ enemy bases.

This gameplay feels really fun, and I'd be curious to see if it can be expanded into something bigger!

Might be the best thing I've played so far in the jam. My only request would be that being able to zoom out and see the full screen would be nice.

Edit: Not only did a beat a million, but I found a way to score infinite points with a bit of cheese, and a careful early game setup. I think if you expand this, you might want to make it so that you're required to get a certain score by a given time, just to make it a bit harder.

johjoh 2023-05-03 19:06

@eli-delventhal If another browser doesn't work, give the desktop version a shot. Godot 4 games seem to be finicky on web at the moment

@sbeif Unfortunately fullscreen currently breaks the visual scaling, hopefully that's something we can fix in a post-jam version.

@badcop @gametrodon Trust me, we wanted keyboard shortcuts as well! Not enough time though  Thanks for playing!

alisher-fazilov 2023-05-04 06:44

Very much enjoyed and tightened the game. Relaxing gameplay with management mechanics goes great)

almaz 2023-05-04 06:45

This game is my favorite. I really liked your idea and its implementation! Very convenient controls, simple and obvious interface. And a very funny soundtrack.

nardandas 2023-05-04 07:02

I did it! I at first felt things were too difficult to go beyond about 7x, but then I had some kind of breakthrough and got 10x, without any cheese. Great game!

frib 2023-05-04 10:55

Intriguing concept! Really liked the puzzle element that this has with the paths blocking new paths, which makes the bugfights more tactical. Well done!

congusbongus 2023-05-04 11:05

Top game, the sound and mood is very chill, like old school Tron/Darwinia vibes. The controls and constant zooming in and out get a bit clunky but otherwise the game is very compelling. Well done!

meta-link 2023-05-04 11:16

Really great game ! Well polished and with a lot of depth in the gameplay. Good job

highskies 2023-05-05 17:12

good looking game with a nice gameplay loop

conduit 2023-05-07 01:40

This was one if not my favorite entry from LD53! I liked the combination of light bike gameplay with the RTS twist. 10/10 experience.

raptor851 2023-05-07 05:44

Loved it, wish there was a better way to do defenses though, kept having to destroy my paths to prevent damage :/

Managed to break 1m after learning the controls (had no idea how to build or defend first try, lol)Screenshot_2023-05-07_00-43-06.png

roroto-sic 2023-05-07 15:47

Great retro vibe aesthetic, kinda reminds me of the Tron movie. Music put the perfect mood ! Very interesting gameplay. I was happy of my best score, but it was before i saw the saw the comments haha

Really interesting gameplay, by using vehicles to both build connections and destroy enemies. Graphics and sfx provide a suiting retro mood too.
